We develop an approach for calculating heavy quark effective theory (HQET) light-cone distribution amplitudes (LCDAs) by employing a sequential effective theory methodology. The theoretical foundation of the framework is established, elucidating how the quasi distribution amplitudes (quasi DAs) with three scales can be utilized to compute HQET LCDAs. We provide theoretical support for this approach by demonstrating the rationale behind devising a hierarchical ordering for the three involved scales, discussing the factorization at each step, clarifying the underlying reason for obtaining HQET LCDAs in the final phase, and addressing potential theoretical challenges. The lattice QCD simulation aspect is explored in detail, and the computations of quasi DAs are presented. We employ three fitting strategies to handle contributions from excited states and extract the bare matrix elements. For renormalization purposes, we apply hybrid renormalization schemes at short and long distance separations. To mitigate long-distance perturbations, we perform an extrapolation in $\lambda= z\cdot P^z$ and assess the stability against various parameters. After two-step matching, our results for HQET LCDAs are found in agreement with existing model parametrizations. The potential phenomenological implications of the results are discussed, shedding light on how these findings could impact our understanding of the strong interaction dynamics and physics beyond the standard model. The similar densities of dark matter and baryons in the universe imply that they might arise from the same ultraviolet model. The B-Mesogenesis, which assumes dark matter is charged under the baryon number, attempts to simultaneously explain the origin of baryon asymmetry and dark matter in the universe. In particular, the B-Mesogenesis might induce bottom-baryon decays into invisible or semi-invisible final states, which provide a distinctive signal for probing this scenario. In this work, we systematically study the invisible decays of bottom baryons into dark matters, and semi-invisible decays of bottom baryons into a meson or a photon together with a dark matter particle. In particular, the fully invisible decay can explore the stable particles in B-Mesogenesis. Some QCD-based frameworks are used to calculate the hadronic matrix elements under the B-Mesogenesis model. We estimate the constraints on the Wilson coefficients or the product of some new physics couplings with the Wilson coefficients by the semi-invisible and invisible decays of bottom baryons at future colliders., Comment: 25 pages, 7 figures

We present a method to compute lightcone distribution amplitudes (LCDAs) of heavy meson within heavy quark effective theory (HQET). Our method utilizes quasi distribution amplitudes (quasi-DAs) with a large momentum component $P^z$. We point out that by sequentially integrating out $P^z$ and $m_H$, one can disentangle different dynamical scales. Integrating out $P^z$ allows to connect quasi-DAs to QCD LCDAs, and then integrating out $m_H$ enables to relate QCD LCDAs to HQET LCDAs. To verify this proposal, we make use of lattice QCD simulation on a lattice ensemble with spacing $a = 0.05187$\,fm. The preliminary findings for HQET LCDAs qualitatively align with phenomenological models. Using a recent model for HQET LCDAs, we also fit the first inverse moment $\lambda_B^{-1}$ and the result is consistent with the experimentally constrain from $B \to \gamma \ell\nu_\ell$. This agreement demonstrates the promise of our method in providing first-principle predictions for heavy meson LCDAs., Comment: 6.5 +1.5 pages, 4 +2 figures

We calculate the form factors for the baryon number violation processes of a heavy-flavor baryon decaying into a pseudoscalar meson and a lepton. In the framework of the Standard Model effective field theory, the leptoquark operators at the bottom quark scale, whose matrix elements define the form factors, are derived by integrating out the high energy physics. Under the QCD factorization approach, the form factors of the baryon number violation processes at leading power can be factorized into the convolution of the long-distance hadron wave functions as well as the short-distance hard and jet functions representing the hard scale and hard-collinear scale effects, separately. Based on measurements of the baryon number violation processes by LHCb, we further impose constraints on the new physics constants of leptoquark operators., Comment: 13 pages, 3 figures

We calculate the next-to-leading order QCD corrections to $B$ to scalar meson form factors from QCD light-cone sum rules with $B$ meson light-cone distribution amplitudes. We demonstrate that the $B$ meson-to-vacuum correlation functions can be factorized into the convolution of short-distance coefficients and light-cone distribution amplitudes at the one-loop level and find that only $\phi_B^+(\omega,\mu)$ contributes to the form factors. We then employ the $z$-parameterization combined with constraints from strong coupling constants to reconstruct the $q^2$ dependence of the form factors in the whole kinematic allowed regions. Due to the large cancellations between the hard functions and the jet functions, the next-to-leading order results show a modest increase of approximately 5\% compared to the leading order results. Based on the results of form factors, we predict the branching ratios of semi-leptonic $B\to S\ell\bar{\nu}_\ell$ and $B\to S\nu_\ell\bar{\nu}_\ell$ processes, as well as several angular observables, such as forward-backward asymmetries, "flat terms" and lepton polarization asymmetries. The perturbative QCD (PQCD) approach based on $k_T$ factorization has made a great achievement for the QCD calculation of the hadronic B decays. Regulating the endpoint divergence by the transverse momentum of quarks in the propagators, one can do the perturbation calculation for kinds of diagrams including the annihilation type diagrams. In this paper, we review the current status of PQCD factorization calculation of two-body charmless $B\to PP, PV, VV$ decays up to the next-to-leading order (NLO) QCD corrections. two new power suppressed terms in decaying amplitudes are also taken into account. By using the universal input (non-perturbative) parameters, we collected the branching ratios and ${\bf CP}$ asymmetry parameters for all the charmless two body $B$ decays, calculated in the PQCD approach up to the NLO, including some power suppressed terms in decaying amplitudes. The results are compared with the ones from QCD factorization approach, soft-collinear effective theory approach and the current experimental measurements. For most considered B meson decays, the PQCD results for branching ratios agree well with other approaches and the experimental data. The PQCD predictions for the ${\bf CP}$ asymmetry parameters for many of the decay channels do not agree with other approaches, but have a better agreement with the experimental data. The longstanding $K \pi $ puzzle about the pattern of the direct CP asymmetries of the penguin-dominated $B \to K \pi $ decays can be understood after the inclusion of the NLO contributions in PQCD. The NLO corrections and power suppressed terms play an important role in the color suppressed and pure annihilation type $B$ decay modes. These rare decays are more sensitive to different types of corrections, providing opportunity to examine the factorization approach with the more precise experimental measurements., Comment: 52 pages, 4 figures, 11 tables

In this paper we investigate the next-to-leading power contribution to the $B_s \to \gamma\gamma$ and $B_s \to \gamma\ell\bar{\ell}$ decays from the strange quark mass effect with the dispersion approach which is QCD inspired and more predictive. We have presented the analytic expression of the quark mass contribution in the $B_s \to \gamma\gamma$ and $B_s \to \gamma\ell\bar{\ell}$ decays, together with a new term that is missed in the previous study. The numerical results of the strange quark mass contribution to the $B_s \to \gamma\gamma$ decay is about 6% relative to the total branching ratio, while it is relatively small in the $B_s \to \gamma\ell\bar{\ell}$ decay due to the large resonance contribuiton, Comment: 17 pages, 6 figures

A sensitivity study of the unbinned angular analysis of the $B\to D^*(D\pi)\ell \nu_\ell$ decay is presented. In the analysis, it is shown that the Wilson coefficient of the right-handed vector current, $C_{V_R}$, can be measured to precision of 2-4$\%$ using either the full set of normalised angular observables or the forward-backward asymmetry $A_{FB}$ of the charged lepton in 10 $w$ bins. We perform a global analysis of the $b\to c\tau\nu$ data using the recent lattice results on the $B_c\to J/\psi$ vector and axial-vector form factors. To explore the effects from the tensor operator of new physics beyond the standard model, we determine the tensor form factors by using the non-relativistic QCD (NRQCD) relations between tensor and (axial-)vector form factors. Based on the lattice+NRQCD form factors, we fit the Wilson coefficients and the new physics couplings in $R_2$, $S_1$ and $U_1$ leptoquark models by including the recently measured $R(\Lambda_c)$ and imposing the relaxed constraint $\mathcal B(B_c\to J/\psi)<30\%$ in light of the recent studies on LEP1 data and $B_c$ lifetime. We give predictions for the experimental observables including $R(J/\psi)$, $P_\tau(J/\psi)$, $F_L(J/\psi)$ and $\mathcal A_{FB}(J/\psi)$ as well as their $q^2$ distribution in new physics scenarios/models. Our results suggest that the longitudinal $\tau$ polarization fraction $P_\tau(J/\psi)$ and the forward-backward asymmetry $\mathcal A_{FB}(J/\psi)$ are useful for testing the $R_2$ leptoquark model., Comment: 19 pages, 10 figures and 6 tables

We accomplish the analytical computation of the pure weak annihilation non-leptonic $B$-meson decay amplitudes at leading power in the heavy quark expansion. The novel observation regarding such fundamental hadronic quantities is that adding the missing hard-collinear contribution on top of the hard gluon exchange effect eliminates rapidity divergences entering the convolution integrals of factorization formulae. Subsequently we identify the perturbative enhancement mechanism due to the penguin contractions of the current-current operators from the weak effective Hamiltonian, which yields the significant impacts on the CP violating observables., Comment: 5+2 pages, 1 figure

In this article, we perform a sensitivity study of an unbinned angular analysis of the $B\to D^*\ell \nu_\ell$ decay, including the contributions from the right-handed current. We investigate the pure annihilation type radiative $B$ meson decays $B^0 \to \phi \gamma$ and $B_s \to \rho^0(\omega)\gamma$ in the soft-collinear effective theory. We consider three types of contributions to the decay amplitudes, including the direct annihilation topology, the contribution from the electro-magnetic penguin operator and the contribution of the neutral vector meson mixings. The numerical analysis shows that the decay amplitudes are dominated by the $\omega-\phi$ mixing effect in the $B^0 \to \phi\gamma$ and $B_s \to \omega\gamma$ modes. The corresponding decay branching ratios are enhanced about three orders of magnitudes relative to the pure annihilation type contribution in these two decay channels. The decay rate of $B_s \to \rho^0\gamma$ is much smaller than that of $B_s \to \omega\gamma$ because of the smaller $\rho^0-\phi$ mixing. The predicted branching ratios $B(B^{0}\rightarrow\phi\gamma)=(3.99^{+1.67}_{-1.46} )\times10^{-9},\,B(B_s\rightarrow\omega\gamma)=(2.01^{+0.81}_{-0.71} )\times10^{-7}$ are to be tested by the Belle-II and LHC-b experiments., Comment: radiative decay, annihilation topology, vector meson mixing

We study the Standard Model and the new physics predictions for the lepton-flavour-universality violating (LFUV) ratios in various $b\to s \ell^+\ell^-$ channels with scalar, pseudoscalar, vector, axial-vector, and $\Lambda$ baryon final states, considering both unpolarized and polarized final state hadrons. In order to formulate physical observables, we use the model independent effective Hamiltonian approach and employ the helicity formalism. We provide the explicit expressions of the helicity amplitudes in terms of the Wilson coefficients and the hadronic form factors by using the same kinematical configuration and polarization conventions for all the decay channels.We perform the numerical analysis with new physics scenarios selected from the recent global fits to $b\to s\ell^+\ell^-$ data, having specific new physics model interpretations. We find that some of the LFUV ratios for these complementary channels in different kinematical regions have high sensitivity to new physics and the future measurements of them in Belle II and LHCb experiments, along with testing new physics/LFUV, can help to distinguish among some of the different new physics possibilities., Comment: 42 pages, 6 figures, 13 tables; version accepted for publication in NPB

We perform an analysis of the $b\to c\tau\nu$ data, including $R(D^{(*)})$, $R(J/\psi)$, $P_\tau(D^{*})$ and $F_L^{D^*}$, within and beyond the Standard Model (SM). We fit the $B\to D^{(*)}$ hadronic form factors in the HQET parametrization to the lattice and the light-cone sum rule (LCSR) results, applying the general strong unitarity bounds corresponding to $J^P=1^-$, $1^+$, $0^-$ and $0^+$. Using the obtained HQET relations between helicity amplitudes, we give the strong unitarity bounds on individual helicity amplitudes, which can be used in the BGL fits. Using the fitted form factors and taking into account the most recent Belle measurement of $R(D^{(*)})$ we investigate the model-independent and the leptoquark model explanations of the $b\to c\tau\nu$ anomalies. Specifically, we consider the one-operator, the two-operator new physics (NP) scenarios and the NP models with a single $R_2$, $S_1$ or $U_1$ leptoquark which is supposed to be able to address the $b\to c\tau\nu$ anomalies, and our results show that the $R_2$ leptoquark model is in tension with the limit $\mathcal B(B_c\to \tau\nu)<10\%$. Furthermore, we give predictions for the various observables in the SM and the NP scenarios/leptoquark models based on the present form factor study and the analysis of NP., Comment: 35 pages, 5 figures and 14 tables; Matches the published version in NPB

We revisit QCD calculations of radiative heavy meson decay form factors by including the subleading power corrections from the twist-two photon distribution amplitude at next-to-leading-order in $\alpha_s$ with the method of the light-cone sum rules (LCSR). The desired hard-collinear factorization formula for the vacuum-to-photon correlation function with the interpolating currents for two heavy mesons is constructed with the operator-product-expansion technique in the presence of evanescent operators. Applying the background field approach, the higher twist corrections from both the two-particle and three-particle photon distribution amplitudes are further computed in the LCSR framework at leading-order in QCD, up to the twist-four accuracy. Combining the leading power "point-like" photon contribution at tree level and the subleading power resolved photon corrections from the newly derived LCSR, we update theory predictions for the nonperturbative couplings describing the electromagnetic decay processes of the heavy mesons $H^{\ast \, \pm} \to H^{\pm} \, \gamma$, $H^{\ast \, 0} \to H^{0} \, \gamma$, $H_s^{\ast \, \pm} \to H_s^{\pm} \, \gamma$ (with $H=D, \, B$). Furthermore, we perform an exploratory comparisons of our sum rule computations of the heavy-meson magnetic couplings with the previous determinations based upon different QCD approaches and phenomenological models., Comment: 39 pages, 4 figures

Applying the vacuum-to-$B$-meson correlation functions with an interpolating current for the light vector meson we construct the light-cone sum rules (LCSR) for the "effective" form factors $\xi_{\parallel}(n \cdot p)$, $\xi_{\perp}(n \cdot p)$, $\Xi_{\parallel}(\tau, n \cdot p)$ and $\Xi_{\perp}(\tau, n \cdot p)$, defined by the corresponding hadronic matrix elements in soft-collinear effective theory (SCET), entering the leading-power factorization formulae for QCD form factors responsible for $B \to V \ell \bar \nu_{\ell}$ and $B \to V \ell \bar \ell$ decays at large hadronic recoil at next-to-leading-order in QCD. The light-quark mass effect for the local SCET form factors $\xi_{\parallel}(n \cdot p)$ and $\xi_{\perp}(n \cdot p)$ is also computed from the LCSR method with the $B$-meson light-cone distribution amplitude $\phi_B^{+}(\omega, \mu)$ at ${\cal O}(\alpha_s)$. Furthermore, the subleading power corrections to $B \to V$ form factors from the higher-twist $B$-meson light-cone distribution amplitudes are also computed with the same method at tree level up to the twist-six accuracy. Having at our disposal the LCSR predictions for $B \to V$ form factors, we further perform new determinations of the CKM matrix element $|V_{ub}|$ from the semileptonic $B \to \rho \, \ell \, \bar \nu_{\ell}$ and $B \to \omega \, \ell \, \bar \nu_{\ell}$ decays, and predict the normalized differential branching fractions and the $q^2$-binned $K^{\ast}$ longitudinal polarization fractions of the exclusive rare $B \to K^{\ast} \, \nu_{\ell} \, \bar \nu_{\ell}$ decays., Comment: 76 pages, 15 figures

Very recently, the LHCb Collaboration observed the $CP$ violation (CPV) in the charm sector for the first time, with $\Delta A_{CP}^{\rm dir}\equiv A_{CP}(D^0\to K^+K^-)-A_{CP}(D^0\to \pi^+\pi^-)=(-1.54\pm0.29)\times10^{-3}$. This result is consistent with our prediction of $\Delta A_{CP}^{\rm SM}=(-0.57\sim -1.87)\times 10^{-3}$ obtained in the factorization-assisted topological-amplitude (FAT) approach in [PRD86,036012(2012)]. It implies that the current understanding of the penguin dynamics in charm decays in the Standard Model is reasonable. Motivated by the success of the FAT approach, we further suggest to measure the $D^+\to K^+K^-\pi^+$ decay, which is the next potential mode to reveal the CPV of the same order as $10^{-3}$., Comment: 10 pages

In this paper we investigate the power suppressed contributions from two-particle and three-particle twist-4 light-cone distribution amplitudes (LCDAs) of photon within the framework of light-cone sum rules. Compared with leading twist LCDA result, the contribution from three-particle twist-4 LCDAs is not suppressed in the expansion by $1/Q^2$, so that the power corrections considered in this work can give rise to a sizable contribution, especially at low $Q^2$ region. According to our result, the power suppressed contributions should be included in the determination of the Gegenbauer moments of pion LCDAs with the pion transition form factor., Comment: 20 pages, 8 figures

The measurements of $R_{K^{(*)}}=\mathcal B(B\to K^{(*)}\mu^{+}\mu^{-})/\mathcal B(B\to K^{(*)}e^{+}e^{-})$ in recent years have hinted lepton flavor non-universality and thus drawn widespread attentions. If these anomalies are induced by new physics (NP), deviations from the SM predictions may also be found in other channels via the same process at the quark level. In this work, we study in $B\to K_{1}(1270,1400)\mu^{+}\mu^{-}$ decays the effects of two popular classes of NP models which can address the $b\to s$ anomalies, i.e. the leptoquark models and the $Z^{\prime}$ models. By assuming that NP only affects the $b\to s\mu^+\mu^-$ transition, we find that the unpolarized and polarized lepton flavor universality (LFU) ratios $R_{K_1^{(L,T)}(1270)}$ are useful to distinguish among the NP models (scenarios) and the SM because they are sensitive to the NP effects and insensitive to the mixing angle $\theta_{K_1}$, while the $R_{K_1^{(L,T)}(1400)}$ are sensitive to both NP and $\theta_{K_1}$. Another ratio $R_\mu(K_1)=\mathcal B(B\to K_1(1400)\mu^+\mu^-)/\mathcal B(B\to K_1(1270)\mu^+\mu^-)$ is shown to depend weekly on the effects from the NP models (scenarios) under consideration, and thus can be used to determine the $\theta_{K_1}$ and complement the $R_{K_1^{(L,T)}}$ in the probe for NP., Comment: 21 pages, 5 figures and 8 tables; results modified, conclusions unchanged, description of Wilson coefficients modified, binned values for the LFU ratios included, references added

We update QCD calculations of $B \to \pi, K$ form factors at large hadronic recoil by including the subleading-power corrections from the higher-twist $B$-meson light-cone distribution amplitudes (LCDAs) up to the twist-six accuracy and the strange-quark mass effects at leading-power in $\Lambda/m_b$ from the twist-two $B$-meson LCDA $\phi_B^{+}(\omega, \mu)$. The higher-twist corrections from both the two-particle and three-particle $B$-meson LCDAs are computed from the light-cone QCD sum rules (LCSR) at tree level. In particular, we construct the local duality model for the twist-five and -six $B$-meson LCDAs, in agreement with the corresponding asymptotic behaviours at small quark and gluon momenta, employing the QCD sum rules in heavy quark effective theory at leading order in $\alpha_s$. The strange quark mass effects in semileptonic $B \to K$ form factors yield the leading-power contribution in the heavy quark expansion, consistent with the power-counting analysis in soft-collinear effective theory, and they are also computed from the LCSR approach due to the appearance of the rapidity singularities. We further explore the phenomenological aspects of the semileptonic $B \to \pi \ell \nu$ decays and the rare exclusive processes $B \to K \nu \nu$, including the determination of the CKM matrix element $|V_{ub}|$, the normalized differential $q^2$ distributions and precision observables defined by the ratios of branching fractions for the above-mentioned two channels in the same intervals of $q^2$., Comment: 36 pages, 9 figures

Within the framework of the perturbative QCD approach, we calculate the time-like $B_cB_c(B_c^*)$ form factors $F(Q^2)$ and $A_2(Q^2)$. We include relativistic corrections and QCD corrections, either of which can give about $20\%$ correction to the leading-order contribution, but there are cancellation effects between them. We calculate the cross sections of the $e^+e^-\to B_c^-B_c^+(B_c^{*+})$ processes. The cross sections are enhanced at the $Z$ pole to be $\sigma^{PP}(Q=m_Z) \sim 1.3\times10^{-5}\text{pb}$ and $\sigma^{PV}(Q=m_Z) \sim 2.5\times10^{-5}\text{pb}$, which are still too small to be detected by proposed $e^+e^-$ colliders such as the Circular Electron Positron Collider.

The doubly weak transition $b\to dd{\bar s}$ is highly suppressed in the standard model, which makes it a potential channel to explore new physics signals. We present a study of the exclusive two body wrong sign weak decay $\smash{\overline B}^0\to K^+\pi^-$ belonging to this class within the perturbative QCD approach. We perform a model independent analysis for various effective dimension-6 operators, in which large effects are possible. We further analyze the considered process in example models such as Randall-Sundrum model, including the custodially protected and the bulk-Higgs Randall-Sundrum model. Exploring the experimentally favored parameter spaces of these models leads to a large and significant enhancement of the decay rate, compared to the standard model result, which might be accessible in future experiments. We propose to look for the wrong sign decay $\smash{\overline B}^0\to K^+\pi^-$ via flavour-tagged time-dependent analyses, which can be performed at LHCb and Belle-II., Comment: 26 pages, 3 figures, 3 tables

We study the $e^+e^-\to VP$ and $e^+e^-\to TP$ processes in the perturbative QCD approach based on $k_T$ factorization, where the $P,V$ and $T$ denotes a light pseudo-scalar, vector and tensor meson, respectively. We point out in the case of $e^+e^-\to TP$ transition due to charge conjugation invariance, only three channels are allowed: $e^+e^-\to a_2^{\pm} \pi^\mp$, $e^+e^-\to K_2^{*\pm} K^\mp$ and the V-spin suppressed $e^+e^-\to K_2^{*0} \bar K^0+\overline K_2^{*0} K^0 $. Cross sections of $e^+e^-\to VP$ and $e^+e^-\to TP$ at $\sqrt{s}=3.67$ GeV and $\sqrt{s}=10.58$ GeV are calculated and the invariant mass dependence is found to favor the $1/s^4$ power law. Most of our theoretical results are consistent with the available experimental data and other predictions can be tested at the ongoing BESIII and forthcoming Belle-II experiments., Comment: 19 pages,1 figure

We study the three-body radiative decays $B\to \phi(\rho) K\gamma$ induced by a flavor-changing neutral current in the perturbative QCD approach. Pseudoscalar-vector ($PV$) distribution amplitudes (DAs) are introduced for the final-state $\phi K$ ($\rho K$) pair to capture important infrared dynamics in the region with a small $PV$-pair invariant mass. The dependence of these $PV$ DAs on the parton momentum fraction is parametrized in terms of the Gegenbauer polynomials, and the dependence on the meson momentum fraction is derived through their normalizations to time-like $PV$ form factors. In addition to the dominant electromagnetic penguin, the subleading chromomagnetic penguin, quark-loop and annihilation diagrams are also calculated. After determining the $PV$ DAs from relevant branching-ratio data, the direct $CP$ asymmetries and decay spectra in the $PV$-pair invariant mass are predicted for each $B\to \phi(\rho) K\gamma$ mode., Comment: 28 pages, 8 figures

After the discovery of the Higgs boson, several future experiments have been proposed to study the Higgs boson properties, including two circular lepton colliders, the CEPC and the FCC-ee, and one linear lepton collider, the ILC. We evaluate the precision reach of these colliders in measuring the branching ratios of the charged lepton flavor violating Higgs decays $H\to e^\pm\mu^\mp$, $e^\pm\tau^\mp$ and $\mu^\pm\tau^\mp$. The expected upper bounds on the branching ratios given by the circular (linear) colliders are found to be $\mathcal{B}(H\to e^\pm\mu^\mp) < 1.2\ (2.1) \times 10^{-5}$, $\mathcal{B}(H\to e^\pm\tau^\mp) < 1.6\ (2.4) \times 10^{-4}$ and $\mathcal{B}(H\to \mu^\pm\tau^\mp) < 1.4\ (2.3) \times 10^{-4}$ at 95\% CL, which are improved by one to two orders compared to the current experimental bounds. We calculate the $D^0$-$\overline{D}^0$ mixing parameter $y$ in the factorization-assisted topological-amplitude (FAT) approach, considering contributions from $D^{0}\to PP$, $PV$, and $VV$ modes, where $P$ ($V$) stands for a pseudoscalar (vector) meson. The $D^{0}\to PP$ and $PV$ decay amplitudes are extracted in the FAT approach, and the $D^{0}\to VV$ decay amplitudes with final states in the longitudinal polarization are estimated via the parameter set for $D^{0}\to PV$. It is found that the $VV$ contribution to $y$, being of order of $10^{-4}$, is negligible, and that the $PP$ and $PV$ contributions amount only up to $y_{PP+PV}=(0.21\pm0.07)\%$, a prediction more precise than those previously obtained in the literature, and much lower than the experimental data $y_{\rm exp}=(0.61\pm0.08)\%$. We conclude that $D^{0}$ meson decays into other two-body and multi-particle final states are relevant to the evaluation of $y$, so it is difficult to understand it fully in an exclusive approach., Comment: 13 pages

The existence of doubly heavy flavor baryons has not been well established experimentally so far. In this Letter we systematically investigate the weak decays of the doubly charmed baryons, $\Xi_{cc}^{++}$ and $\Xi_{cc}^{+}$, which would be helpful for experimental searches for these particles. The branching fractions are studied under the factorization hypothesis for the short-distance contributions and considering the rescattering effect for the long-distance contributions which are significantly enhanced. Comparing all the decay modes, we recommend the processes of $\Xi_{cc}^{++}\to \Lambda_c^+K^-\pi^+\pi^+$ and $\Xi_c^+\pi^+$ as the first priority for experiments to search for the doubly heavy baryons., Comment: 16 pages, 3 figure, 5 tables. We compute perturbative QCD corrections to $B \to D$ form factors at leading power in $\Lambda/m_b$, at large hadronic recoil, from the light-cone sum rules (LCSR) with $B$-meson distribution amplitudes in HQET. QCD factorization for the vacuum-to-$B$-meson correlation function with an interpolating current for the $D$-meson is demonstrated explicitly at one loop with the power counting scheme $m_c \sim {\cal O} \left (\sqrt{\Lambda \, m_b} \right ) $. The jet functions encoding information of the hard-collinear dynamics in the above-mentioned correlation function are complicated by the appearance of an additional hard-collinear scale $m_c$, compared to the counterparts entering the factorization formula of the vacuum-to-$B$-meson correction function for the construction of $B \to \pi$ from factors. Inspecting the next-to-leading-logarithmic sum rules for the form factors of $B \to D \ell \nu$ indicates that perturbative corrections to the hard-collinear functions are more profound than that for the hard functions, with the default theory inputs, in the physical kinematic region. We further compute the subleading power correction induced by the three-particle quark-gluon distribution amplitudes of the $B$-meson at tree level employing the background gluon field approach. The LCSR predictions for the semileptonic $B \to D \ell \nu$ form factors are then extrapolated to the entire kinematic region with the $z$-series parametrization. Phenomenological implications of our determinations for the form factors $f_{BD}^{+, 0}(q^2)$ are explored by investigating the (differential) branching fractions and the $R(D)$ ratio of $B \to D \ell \nu$ and by determining the CKM matrix element $|V_{cb}|$ from the total decay rate of $B \to D \mu \nu_{\mu}$., Comment: 49 pages, 8 figures, version accepted for publication in JHEP

Doubly-heavy baryons, with two heavy and one light quarks, are expected to exist in QCD and their masses have been predicted in the quark model. However their existence is not well established so far in experiment. In this work, we explore the possibility of searching for $\Xi_{bc}$ and $\Xi_{cc}^{+}$ in the $W$-exchange processes, $\Xi_{bc}^{0}\to pK^{-}$ and $\Xi_{cc}^{+}\to \Sigma_{c}^{++}(2520)K^{-}$. On the basis of perturbative calculations, we estimate the branching ratio of the first decay as ${\cal BR}(\Xi_{bc}^0\to p^+ K^-)\approx3.21\times {\cal R}^2_f \times {\cal R}_{\tau}\times 10^{-7}$, where ${\cal R}_f$ (${\cal R}_{\tau}$) are the ratios of the decay constants (lifetimes) of $\Xi_{bc}^{0}$ and $\Lambda_b^{0}$. The branching ratio of $\Xi_{cc}^{+}\to \Sigma_{c}^{++}(2520)K^{-}$ is related to that of $\Lambda_c^+\to \Delta^{++} K^-$, and thereby a conjectured topology analysis leads to the range for the branching ratio as: ${\cal BR}(\Xi_{cc}^+\to \Sigma_{c}^{++}(2520) K^-)\in \left[0.36\%,1.80\%\right]$. The decay $\Xi_{cc}^+\to \Sigma_{c}^{++}(2520) K^-$ would be reconstructed in the $ \Lambda_{c}^{+}K^{-}\pi^{+}$ final state which is easy to access even at a hadron collider. Based on the two facts that abundant heavy quarks can be produced at a hadron collider like LHC, and the branching ratios of $\Xi_{bc}^{0}\to pK^{-}$ and $\Xi_{cc}^{+}\to \Sigma_{c}^{++}(2520)K^{-}$ are sizable, we urge our experimental colleagues to perform a search at LHCb. We analyze charmless two-body non-leptonic B decays $B \to PP, PV$ under the framework of factorization assisted topological amplitude approach, where $P(V)$ denotes a light pseudoscalar (vector) meson. Compared with the conventional flavor diagram approach, we consider flavor $SU(3)$ breaking effect assisted by factorization hypothesis for topological diagram amplitudes of different decay modes, factorizing out the corresponding decay constants and form factors. The non-perturbative parameters of topology diagram magnitudes $\chi$ and strong phase $\phi$ are universal that can be extracted by $\chi^2$ fit from current abundant experimental data of charmless B decays. The number of free parameters and the $\chi^2$ per degree of freedom are both reduced comparing with previous analysis. With these best fitted parameters, we predict branching fractions and $CP$ asymmetry parameters of nearly 100 $B_{u,d}$ and $B_s$ decay modes. Within the framework of $B$-meson light-cone sum rules, we compute the one-loop level QCD corrections to $B\to \pi$ transition form factors at small $ q^{2}$ region, in implement of a complete renormalization group equation evolution. To solve the renormalization group equations, we work at the "dual" space where the anomalous dimensions of the jet function and the light-cone distribution amplitudes are diagonal. With the complete renormalization group equation evolution, the form factors are almost independent of the factorization scale, which is shown numerically. We also extrapolate the results of the form factors to the whole $q^2$ region, and compare their behavior with other studies.

The extremely small branching ratio of $b\to ss{\bar d}$ decay in the Standard Model makes it a suitable channel to explore new-physics signals. We study this $\Delta S=2$ process in Randall-Sundrum models, including the custodially protected and the bulk-Higgs Randall-Sundrum models. Flavor SU(3) symmetry is a powerful tool to analyze charmed baryon decays, however its applicability remains to be experimentally validated. Since there is not much data on $\Xi_c$ decays, various exclusive $\Lambda_c$ decays especially the ones into a neutron state are essential for the test of flavor symmetry. These decay modes are also helpful to investigate final state interactions in charmed baryon decays. In this work, we discuss the explicit roles of $\Lambda_c$ decays into a neutron in testing the flavor symmetry and exploring final state interactions. We calculate the tree and penguin amplitudes in the $B^0\to\pi^+\pi^-$ decay channel employing the perturbative QCD factorization approach. Using the amplitudes as input with the theoretical uncertainties sufficiently considered, we constrain the UT angle $\gamma$ to $53^\circ\leq\gamma\leq70^\circ$, from the measurements of the CP violation parameters $C_{\pi^+\pi^-}$ and $S_{\pi^+\pi^-}$ in $B^0\to\pi^+\pi^-$. We study $S$-wave resonance contributions to the $B^0_{(s)}\to J/\psi\pi^+\pi^-$ and $B_s\to\pi^+\pi^-\ell^+\ell^-$ decays in the perturbative QCD (PQCD) framework by introducing two-hadron distribution amplitudes for final states. The Breit-Wigner formula for the $f_0(500)$, $f_0(1500)$ and $f_0(1790)$ resonances and the Flatt\'e model for the $f_0(980)$ resonance are adopted to parameterize the time-like scalar form factors in the two-pion distribution amplitudes, which include both resonant and nonresonant contributions. The resultant branching fraction and differential branching fraction in the pion-pair invariant mass for each resonance channel are consistent with experimental data. The determined $S$-wave two-pion distribution amplitudes, containing the information of both resonant and nonresonant rescattering phases, can be employed to predict direct CP asymmetries of other three-body hadronic $B$ meson decays in various localized regions of two-pion phase space., Comment: 13 pages, 3 figures

In this paper, we calculate the next-to-leading-order (NLO) twist-3 contribution to the form factors of $B \to \pi$ transitions by employing the $k_{T}$ factorization theorem. All the infrared divergences regulated by the logarithms $\ln(k_{iT}^{2})$ cancel between those from the quark diagrams and from the effective diagrams for the initial $B$ meson wave function and the final pion meson wave function. An infrared finite NLO hard kernel is therefore obtained, which confirms the application of the $k_{T}$ factorization theorem to $B$ meson semileptonic decays at twist-3 level. From our analytical and numerical evaluations, we find that the NLO twist-3 contributions to the form factors $f^{+,0}(q^2)$ of $B \to \pi$ transition are similar in size, but have an opposite sign with the NLO twist-2 contribution, which leads to a large cancelation between these two NLO parts. For the case of $f^+(0)$, for example, the $24\%$ NLO twist-2 enhancement to the full LO prediction is largely canceled by the negative ( about $-17\%$ ) NLO twist-3 contribution, leaving a small and stable $7\%$ enhancement to the full LO prediction in the whole range of $0\leq q^2\leq 12$ GeV$^2$. At the full NLO level, the perturbative QCD prediction is $F^{B \to \pi}(0)=0.269^{+0.054}_{-0.050}$. We propose a theoretical framework for analyzing three-body hadronic $B$ meson decays based on the perturbative QCD approach. The crucial nonperturbative input is a two-hadron distribution amplitude for final states, whose involved time-like form factor and rescattering phase are fit to relevant experimental data. Together with the short-distance strong phase from the $b$-quark decay kernel, we are able to make predictions for direct CP asymmetries in, for example, the $B^\pm \to \pi^+ \pi^- \pi^\pm$ and $\pi^+\pi^-K^\pm$ modes, which are consistent with the LHCb data in various localized regions of phase space. We study two-body hadronic $B_s\to PT$ decays, with $P (T)$ being a light pseudoscalar (tensor) meson, in the perturbative QCD approach. The CP-averaged branching ratios and the direct CP asymmetries of the $\Delta S=0$ modes are predicted, where $\Delta S$ is the difference between the strange numbers of final and initial states. We also define and calculate experimental observables for the $\Delta S=1$ modes under the $B_s^0-\bar{B}_s^0$ mixing, including CP averaged branching ratios, time-integrated CP asymmetries, and the CP observables $C_{f}$, $D_{f}$ and $S_{f}$. Results are compared to the $B_s\to PV$ ones in the literature, and to the $B\to PT$ ones, which indicate considerable U-spin symmetry breaking. In this paper we study the semileptonic decays of $B_c^+\to D^{(*)}_{(s)}(l^+\nu_l,l^+l^-,\nu\bar\nu)$ (here $l$ stands for $e$, $\mu$, or $\tau$). After evaluating the $B_c^+ \to (D_{(s)},D^*_{(s)})$ transition form factors $F_{0,+,T}(q^2)$ and $V(q^2), A_{0,1,2}(q^2), T_{1,2,3}(q^2)$ by employing the perturbative QCD factorization approach, we calculate the branching ratios for all these semileptonic decays. Our predictions for the values of the $B_c^+ \to D_{(s)}$ and $B_c^+ \to D^*_{(s)}$ transition form factors are consistent with those obtained by using other methods. The branching ratios of the decay modes with $\bar\nu\nu$ are almost an order of magnitude larger than the corresponding decays with $l^+l^-$ after the summation over the three neutrino generations. The branching ratios for the decays with $b\to d$ transitions are much smaller than those decays with the $b\to s$ transitions, due to the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa suppression. We define ratios $R_D$ and $R_{D^*}$ for the branching ratios with the $\tau$ lepton versus $\mu$, $e$ lepton final states to cancel the uncertainties of the form factors, which could possibly be tested in the near future., Comment: 13 pages, 1 figure

We study the two-body hadronic $D\to PV$ decays, where $P$ ($V$) denotes a pseudoscalar (vector) meson, in the factorization-assisted topological-amplitude approach proposed in our previous work. This approach is based on the factorization of short-distance and long-distance dynamics into Wilson coefficients and hadronic matrix elements of four-fermion operators, respectively, with the latter being parametrized in terms of several nonperturbative quantities. We further take into account the $\rho$-$\omega$ mixing effect, which improves the global fit to the branching ratios involving the $\rho^0$ and $\omega$ mesons. Combining short-distance dynamics associated with penguin operators and the hadronic parameters determined from the global fit to branching ratios, we predict direct $CP$ asymmetries. In particular, the direct $CP$ asymmetries in the $D^0\to K^0\overline{K}^{*0},~\overline{K}^0K^{*0}$, $D^+\to\pi^+\rho^0$, and $D_s^+\to K^+\omega,~K^+\phi$ decays are found to be of ${\cal O}(10^{-3})$, which can be observed at the LHCb or future Belle II experiment. The circular-polarization of the photon in the radiative B decays is dominantly left-handed in the Standard Model (SM), but the right-handed polarization may be enhanced in some new physics models with right-handed currents, such as the Left-Right Symmetric Model (LRSM). In this article, we investigate how large this wrong polarization could be within the allowed parameter space of the LRSM. We show that in LRSM, the right-handed polarization of the photon in the $b\to s\gamma$ processes could be largely enhanced by the $W_L-W_R$ mixing contributions because of the helicity flip on the internal top quark line of the penguin diagrams and the enhancement by the CKM factor $V_{ts}^R/V_{ts}^L$. We discuss the sensitivity of the proposed methods to determine the $b\to s\gamma$ photon polarization to the LRSM as well as their complementary role compared to the direct search of right-handed charged gauge bosons at LHC., Comment: 30pages, 5 figures, published version; references added

The annihilation type diagrams are difficult to calculate in any kind of models or method. Encouraged by the the successful calculation of pure annihilation type B decays in the perturbative QCD factorization approach, we calculate the pure annihilation type $D\to PP(V)$ decays in the perturbative QCD approach based on the $k_T$ factorization. Although the expansion parameter $1/m_D$ is not very small, our leading order numerical results agree with the existing experiment data for most channels. Recently, the LHCb collaboration reported the first evidence for the decay $B_s^0 \rightarrow \mu^+ \mu^-$. A branching ratio of $\mathcal{B}(B_s^0 \rightarrow \mu^+ \mu^-) = (3.2^{+1.5}_{-1.2}) \times 10^{-9}$ is given. Using the newest data, and together with the most precise predictions of the Standard Model contributions to the decay, we derive the constraints on the combinations of the R-parity violating parameters. Our results are several orders of magnitudes stronger than the constraints in the previous literature. Using flavor SU(3) symmetry for the light quarks validated by the available experimental data, we propose an intuitive way to hunt for a scalar glueball in B decays. In the presence of mixing between the glueball and ordinary scalar mesons, we explore the extraction of the mixing parameters. In particular, we discuss the implication from the recently available experimental data and show the sensitivities of B decays as a probe to the scalar structures. The future Super KEKB factory would allow access to establishing the mixing pattern among the scalars, and possibly allow one to disentangle the long-standing puzzle concerning the existence and mixings of the scalar glueball predicted by QCD., Comment: 5 pages, 1 figure

We study $B_s^0 \to J/\psi f_0(980)$ decays, the quark content of $f_0(980)$ and the mixing angle of $f_0(980)$ and $\sigma(600)$. We calculate not only the factorizable contribution in QCD facorization scheme but also the nonfactorizable hard spectator corrections in QCDF and pQCD approach. We get consistent result with the experimental data of $B_s^0 \to J/\psi f_0(980)$ and predict the branching ratio of $B_s^0 \to J/\psi \sigma$. We suggest two ways to determine $f_0-\sigma$ mixing angle $\theta$. Using the experimental measured branching ratio of $B_s^0 \to J/\psi f_0(980) $, we can get the $f_0-\sigma$ mixing angle $\theta$ with some theoretical uncertainties. We suggest another way to determine $f_0-\sigma$ mixing angle $\theta$ using both of experimental measured decay branching ratios $B_s^0 \to J/\psi f_0(980) (\sigma)$ to avoid theoretical uncertainties., Comment: arXiv admin note: substantial text overlap with arXiv:0707.2631

We study the resonant contributions in the process $\bar{B}^0\to K^- \pi^+\mu^+\mu^-$ with the $K^-\pi^+$ invariant mass square $m_{K\pi}^2\in [1, 5] {\rm GeV}^2$. Width effects of the involved strange mesons, $K^*(1410), K_0^*(1430), K_2^*(1430), K^*(1680), K_3^*(1780)$ and $K_4^*(2045)$, are incorporated. In terms of the helicity amplitudes, we derive a compact form for the full angular distributions, through which the branching ratios, forward-backward asymmetries and polarizations are attained. We propose that the uncertainties in the $B\to K^*_J$ form factors can be pinned down by the measurements of a set of SU(3)-related processes. Using results from the large energy limit, we derive the dependence of branching fractions on the $m_{K\pi}$, and find that the $K^*_2(1430)$ resonance has a clear signature, in particular, in the transverse polarizations., Comment: 12 pages, 5 figures, journal version
