Julio Ruelas is buried in the Montparnasse cemetery, Paris; He was born in Zacatecas, Mexico. He died at the age of thirty-seven. He had a short life with an intense artistic work. Ruelas's symbolist production is characterized by a great consideration of his melancholic temperament. Author of creaturas fabulosas, hijas del miedo, el caos y la muerte, until the end of his life he showed a certain "derangement" in his themes, based on an imagination deployed in the plenitude of his violent and unfortunate visions, freed from prejudices like no other representation in the Mexican art scene of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
