Abstract

This paper presents a unified predictive modeling for Common-Mode (CM) and Differential-Mode (DM) impedance estimation of a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) with random wounds used in aeronautic applications. This methodology combines 2D Finite Element modeling and generated lumped parameter circuits in a Spice environment. It is then used to determine the consequences of design choices and evaluate the importance of controlling the winding process in PMSM manufacturing. By doing so and by changing parts of the PMSM design, the overall high-frequency response of the system with regard to input parameters can help in satisfying ElectroMagnetic Compatibility (EMC) high-frequency constraints (between 1 kHz and 10 MHz).This paper presents evidence demonstrating the importance of design parameters such as the number of wires in parallel used by turns and the overall placement of the conductor not only with regard to the slot but to other wires within the slot

Abstract

International audience; In recent years, the study and design of linear active EMI filters (AEF) have been the subject of many research papers. Different modeling approaches to study the performances of the AEF have been proposed. The aim of this paper is to introduce a methodology to design a Common Mode (CM) AEF able to cancel the CM electromagnetic interference noise in a given frequency range. The active filter is analyzed based on the CM noise model of a boost converter. The first part of the study is devoted to the modeling of the electrical structure of the filter and the definition of component values. In this part, attenuation, design rules and stability of AEF are addressed in detail. The second part of the study is dedicated to the simulations and experiments to validate the proposed methodology. This step allows realizing a functional prototype that complies with the DO160 standard (aeronautics) up to 1 MHz

Abstract

Among other explorations, the field of telepresence technology has looked at ways to create a feeling of telepresence based on the transfer of minimal information. On this topic, the Cololo project has taken an extreme position by proposing the experience of 1-bit communication. Based on the observation of Cololo in use, it is shown that content is not necessary to trigger an emotional experience. This paper introduces a novel dimension to be taken into consideration in communication technology: the content-completeness dimension, ranging from non-content to hyper-content. Furthermore, we built the Ohlala framework, aiming to explore the content-completeness dimension. Based on Ohlala, by way of a research through design, we intend to explore further the relations between this dimension on communication and emotional experience.

Abstract

Les actionneurs piézoélectriques sont largement utilisés dans des applications bien variées, allant du découpage, soudage, nettoyage…, aux applications biomédicales telle que l’injection des médicaments. Une nouvelle application de ces actionneurs proposé ici est le dégivrage piézoélectrique avionique. L’alimentation de l’actionneur piézoélectrique pose un défi majeur du fait de son comportement capacitif sur quasiment toute sa plage fréquentielle, et surtout pour l’application de dégivrage qui nécessite une fréquence de fonctionnement très élevée. Une variété de topologie d’alimentation est présentée dans cet article dont un fut l’objet d’une conception au laboratoire. Le choix est basé sur la possibilité de varier la fréquence de pilotage, la commutation douce et la gestion de l’énergie réactive.

Abstract

International audience; Our current education systems do not adequately support students to learn how to deal with complex challenges and to create together alternative practices aimed at sustainable futures. We have developed a design approach and repository for transforming practices (TP) in order to engage with the world in co-response-able ways. During the past 20 years, we have explored and transformed educational practices to enable situated, self-directed and lifelong learning. In this paper we explain our journey of transforming our education systems and how the 5 principles of TP have been guiding this process, i.e., complexity, situatedness, aesthetics, coresponse-ability and co-development. We illustrate with examples from our own educational practices how TP can help transforming current education systems into corresponding lifelong learning practices that support designers and participants in designing for alternative complex, sustainable futures.
