Background: With growing interest in parenting stress among mothers of children with disabilities, the current study examined the multidimensional aspects of parenting stress and their impact on life satisfaction among Korean mothers of children with disabilities. Based on the suggestions of prior findings concerning the potential role of intrapersonal resources on moderating parenting stress, the study focused on intrinsic religious orientation as one of the intrapersonal resources. Method: Participants completed measures of three types of parenting stress (parental distress, parent-child dysfunctional interaction and difficult child), life satisfaction and religious orientation. Results: Two subscales of parenting stress (i.e., parental distress and difficult child) had negative associations with life satisfaction. Intrinsic religious orientation weakened the relationship between parental distress and life satisfaction, especially among individuals who held moderate and high levels of intrinsic religious orientation. Conclusion: These findings indicate the existence of differential associations between parenting stress type and life satisfaction in Korean mothers of children with disabilities. The current findings also identified the interrelationships between the religious resources and maternal parenting stress of children with disabilities. Intrapersonal religious resources have the potential to counterbalance the negative impact of maternal distress.

AbstractSocial network sites (SNS) are becoming a popular means of “digital leisure” among young adults. Several problematic consequences of extensive SNS use have been reported including objectifying bodies on SNS. Thus, in this study, we aimed to understand the specific pathway between young female adults’ SNS use and mental and behavioral problems using the objectification theory framework. We conducted structural equation modeling of data from 507 Korean female undergraduates to elucidate the relationships between SNS use and self-esteem, depression, abnormal eating, and exercise dependence, and the mediation effects of body surveillance and body shame. A significant direct relationship between SNS use and problematic consequences was found only between SNS use and exercise dependence. Mediation effects of body surveillance and body shame were confirmed in all four relationships. In this study, the researchers expand the objectification theory’s applicability to SNS platforms and identify a potential mechanism of consequent adverse outcomes, providing useful empirical evidence for preventive educational measures. Since the outbreak of COVID-19, diverse changes have been made in schools. The decision was made for students to be back in school online, and synchronous bi-directional online classes were launched as a means of 'blended learning'. Against this background, we aim to explore how synchronous bi-directional online classroom space is understood and materialised through a lens of socio-material assemblage. This article builds on existing literature on the potential of liminal space, which encourages a focus on the limits of the space and the simultaneous possibility of students' agency. Online ethnography was conducted to analyse the dynamics of spatiality in an online classroom. Participant observation was conducted in online classes in one 6th grade (elementary school) class in Seoul, South Korea, followed by semi-structured interviews with the teacher and students. We explore themes of students being controlled and (simultaneously) exercising their agency, thus opening up understanding of the agency of children as active actors who construct the space. Central nervous system (CNS) involvement in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is uncommon, and most of the times, it is secondary to vasculitic processes or extra-articular rheumatoid nodules. Meningeal involvement is extremely rare. In the literature, there are a few case reports, series, and retrospective studies which have demonstrated the association of rheumatoid (aseptic) meningoencephalitis after starting tumor necrosis factor (TNF) inhibitors. We present a case of rheumatoid meningoencephalitis (RME) in a 52-year-old male with a history of RA on adalimumab who presented with headaches associated with motor and sensory deficits, all of which resolved after this diagnosis was achieved and received appropriate therapy with high-dose glucocorticoids. We also present an update with high yield points summarizing clinical features, diagnostic workup, and management of RME. Finally, we post a literature review of relevant CNS rheumatoid disease in patients with and without exposure to TNF inhibitors.

This study investigated the relationship between domestic violence and dating violence victimization, and the mediating influence of the justification of dating violence among female Korean university students. The present study uses a cross-sectional survey (N = 550) to examine three research questions. First, does exposure to domestic violence during childhood predict dating violence victimization later in life? Second, does justifying violence mediate the relationship between domestic violence experience and dating violence victimization? Third, does justifying violence show a difference depending on the sexes of the perpetrator in influencing victimization of violence? A series of structural equation modeling analyses were conducted. The results showed that witnessing interparental violence and experiencing child abuse directly influenced dating violence victimization. Second, the justification of violence mediated the relationship between witnessing interparental violence and dating violence victimization. Third, justifying male to female violence influenced dating violence victimization. The study's findings emphasize the importance of the gender-specific justification of violence among young female adults. This study makes essential empirical and theoretical contributions. A more in-depth understanding of the justification of violence between their prior and present experiences of violence in different contexts would support victims to recover and prevent poly-victimization experiences. Background/objective: Antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA)-associated vasculitis (AAV) may involve the kidney, respiratory tract, skin, or central and peripheral nervous system. Reports of interstitial lung disease (ILD) in AAV (AAV-ILD) have been increasing., Methods: We reviewed the medical records of all patients with AAV-ILD between January 1, 2007, and December 31, 2017, and compared their pulmonary involvement to patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF)., Results: We identified 24 patients with AAV-ILD: 14 with microscopic polyangiitis, 8 with granulomatosis with polyangiitis, and 2 with eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis. Perinuclear or myeloperoxidase ANCA was present in 16 cases (66.7%), whereas cytoplasmic or proteinase 3 ANCA was positive in 8 (33.3%). Usual interstitial pneumonia (UIP) was seen in 11 (45.8%), probable UIP in 1 (4.2%), indeterminate UIP in 2 (8.3%), and an alternate diagnosis in 10 (41.7%), and was further characterized as chronic hypersensitivity pneumonitis-like pattern seen in 6 (25%), nonspecific interstitial pneumonia-like pattern in 3 (12.5%), and cryptogenic organizing pneumonia-like pattern in 1 (4.2%). Forced vital capacity and diffusing capacity declined over time in patients with AAV-ILD. When compared with the IPF cohort, patients with AAV-ILD had intermediate survival and speed of lung function decline (3-year survival in AAV-ILD group was 94% vs 69% in IPF)., Conclusions: Antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody-associated vasculitis ILD is a progressive and potentially fatal condition. Although most cases in the literature are associated with p-ANCA and positive myeloperoxidase, we found that a third of patients had c-ANCA or granulomatosis with polyangiitis. Background: Active tuberculosis (TB) risk increases during anti-tumor necrosis factor (TNF) therapy; therefore, latent TB infection (LTBI) screening is recommended in potential TNF inhibitor users. It is unclear whether anti-TNF therapy increases the risk of active TB infection even after standard LTBI treatment., Objective: The objective of this study was to compare the risk of active TB development in LTBI-positive versus LBTI-negative TNF inhibitor users following the current national LTBI treatment guidelines for LTBI., Methods: We retrospectively studied 949 TNF inhibitor users with immune-mediated inflammatory diseases from 2005 to 2012 at the Yonsei University Health System. We compared the incidence of active TB among LTBI-positive TNF inhibitor users treated according to national guidelines (n = 256) and LTBI-negative TNF inhibitor users (n = 521), using Poisson regression., Results: The active TB incidence was 1107 per 100,000 patient-years in LTBI-positive TNF inhibitor users who received standard LTBI treatment and 490 per 100,000 patient-years in LTBI-negative TNF inhibitor users. Analysis showed that despite this numerical trend active TB risk was not statistically significantly elevated in LTBI-positive versus LTBI-negative TNF inhibitor users (incidence risk ratio, 2.15; P = 0.24; 95% confidence interval, 0.6-7.7)., Conclusions: This study demonstrated no statistically significantly increased risk of active TB in LTBI-positive TNF inhibitor users who received standard LTBI treatment compared with LTBI-negative TNF inhibitor users.
