Mono or bis(tetrazole–thiolato) Pd(II) or Pt(II) complexes were obtained from the reactions of dialkyl Pd(II) or Pt(II) complexes with organic tetrazole–thiones (1-aryl- or 1-alkyl-1H-tetrazole-5-thiones) via deprotonation. In contrast, equimolar reactions of zerovalent Pt(0) or Pd(0) complexes with organic tetrazole–thiones afforded hydrido or bis(tetrazole–thiolato) Pt(II) and Pd(II) complexes, and cyclometallated Pt(II) or Pd(II) complexes bearing a tetrazole–thiolato moiety via oxidative addition, depending on the organic substituents on the tetrazole–thiones. In particular, variable (time and temperature)-dependent 1H-NMR spectra of the hydrido Pt(II) tetrazole–thiolates reveal an upfield shift of the hydride signal, suggesting N,S-coordination behavior of the tetrazole–thiolato ligand. Additionally, the N-CH2 signal corresponds to the six-membered ring of platinacycle or palladacycle exhibiting geminal coupling with multiple protons and PR3 ligands; these coupling values were further determined using 1H{31P} experiments. Finally, treatment of the alkyl Pd(II) tetrazole–thiolate or Pd(II) bis(tetrazole–thiolates) with organic tert-butyl isocyanide, thiophenol, and organic halides caused the selective insertion of the isocyanide into the Pd–C bond or deprotonation to afford a Pd(II) disulfide complex and substitution to afford new organic tetrazolyl sulfides. This study investigates the applicability of eco-friendly silicone materials with improved flame retardancy as interior materials for Korean urban railway vehicles, focusing on developing nonslip pads for seats made of non-combustible materials. Fire safety standards vary worldwide, necessitating country-specific testing and analysis. For application to the interior of railway vehicles in Korea, technical standards for the flame-retardant performance of railway vehicles were evaluated, and nonslip pads for seats were tested by comparing two types of flame-retardant silicone. In addition to fire property testing on a specimen basis, experimental verification was performed on a full chair assembly including silicone pads. Passenger comfort testing through pressure measurements was also conducted alongside fire safety performance testing The actual fire test showed that the maximum average heat release rate value was about 20% lower than the standard's upper limit. Using flame-retardant silicone pads enhances fire safety and passenger comfort, satisfactorily meeting the required performance standards for Korean railway vehicles. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

College drinking is an important public health issue in many countries, especially in South Korea. This study aims to explore drinking motives and their relationship with drinking behaviors and drinking outcomes among Korean college students (N = 553). Utilizing a Web-based survey, this study found some similarities and differences relative to studies conducted in Western cultures. As previously observed, social and enhancement motives were the primary reasons for drinking, and enhancement motives were associated with drinking-related problems among Korean students. However, results differing from those of previous studies were revealed by comparing males and females: Korean male college students who drink to cope with stress tend to experience more alcohol-related problems, whereas Korean female college students tend to experience alcohol-related problems when drinking for enhancement motives. Implications for future research are discussed.
