Compression socks are highly recommended textile garments for the exertion of compression pressure (kPa) at the ankle. They work on the principle of the highest pressure at the ankle gradually decreasing from the ankle to the calf. The aim of the current research is to analyze all of the compression sock samples (Class I, Class II, and Class III) simultaneously at various number of times of washing them. All of the sock samples were washed in a standard washing machine with standard methods (ISO 6330). For the measurement of the compression pressure, a Salzmann MST MKIV pressure measuring device was used according to the RAL-GZ 387/1 method. Results included the effect of multiple wearing and washing cycles (up to 20) on compression pressure, the effect of temperature (up to 100°C) on compression pressure (kPa); multiple wearing and washing cycles on the percentage of shrinkage and the effect of marking methodology on compression pressure (Kpa) were observed and are discussed in this article. The results suggest that washing is the most important factor to consider while compression socks are used for compression therapy because they directly influence the efficacy of streamline blood flow across the legs. This paper deals with investigating performance of car seat fabrics in terms of their compression and recovery properties influenced by heat degradation. Polyurethane foam, nonwoven and 3D knitted spacer fabrics are commonly used as padding (in middle layer) in car seats cover. The current work presents an alternative approach to evaluate effectivity of car seat fabrics, namely behaviour of their middle layers before and after heat degradation which simulates hot summer condition. In summary, results show that 3D spacer is the most appropriate middle layer for car seat cover because of its recovery properties is very good at both before and after heat degradation (about 94% from original thickness) on the contrary PU foam. The PU foam is very good at recovery behaviour under standard ambient conditions (temperature about 25°C) on the other hand PU foam recovery significantly decreases (about 40% against 3D spacer) after impact of high temperature. The subject of this article is the evaluation of thermophysiological comfort of clothing under influence of flowing air. For this purpose a special device has been created, which is capable of generating an air flow of variable velocities. Under these conditions the values characterizing thermal insulating properties of the textile material sample are recorded on a human arm model which is placed in the wind tunnel. The main purpose of this research is to find out possibility of improvement in thermal protective performance (TPP) of fire fighter protective clothing (FFPC) when subjected to radiant heat flux density of 10 kW/m². Enlargement of TPP is related to the increase of time period when subjected to radiant heat flux density may provide surplus time for fire fighter to carry out duties without enduring harmful injuries. Each FFPC specimen constitutes outer shell, moisture barrier and thermal barrier. However, aerogel blanket was also utilized as substitute to thermal barrier because of its excellent thermal insulation property and inflammable nature. Preliminary testing was related to evaluating thermal resistance and thermal conductivity. Later experimentation involves exposure of multilayer FFPC specimen to radiant heat flux density of 10 kW/m². It was witnessed that those combinations in which aerogel blanket was utilized deliver higher thermal resistance i.e.0.1748 m2KJW and improved TPP behavior in terms of transmitted heat flux density Qc (0.70 kW/m²) and percentage transmission factor (6.70%). The present study is focused on the investigation of liquid moisture transport in textile materials by means of thermography and microtomography systems. The new vertical wicking method which combines the thermography system and the image analysis system is presented in this study. Further, porosity analysis of knitted fabrics by microcomputed tomography system is carried out to support understanding of liquid moisture transport phenomena. Textile structures used for functional underwear for sports and for special non-flammable hi-tech underwear have been selected to tested group. Results indicate that the distribution of pore thickness can be useful to uncover complex behaviour of textile structures during moisture transport into their structure. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to deal with performance verification of thermal insulation fillings that are used for outer clothes into cold environments. Thermal properties of filling materials (down and three sophisticated fillings) were tested under condition approaching real weather conditions in Middle Europe. Design/methodology/approach – In the paper, modern method of thermal resistance Rct measurement, by Sweating Guarded-Hotplate system, was compared with method of Technical University of Liberec (TUL method). The TUL method shows good results and it is applicable even at ambient temperatures below zero, which fully corresponds to real application of the insulation filling. Findings – Evaluation of fibre battings were carried out even at temperatures below the freezing point, which is important for simulation of actual application of these filling structures. The highest thermal resistance of goose down confirm that natural materials have their irreplaceable position, especially in application into clothes for extreme conditions. Research limitations/implications – There does not include effect of the humidity change on thermal insulation properties. It will be subject of further research of authors. This paper presents an objective drape evaluation by means of a 3D Drape Scanner to capture complex drape information and increase the accuracy of drape fabric measurement, especially for high-drape fabrics. The new 3D Drape Scanner provides a true threedimensional image of a drape sample and automatically evaluates chosen drape characteristics such as: the drape coefficient (DC), the number of waves, their area, perimeter and location (angle and depth of waves) by means of the software 3Dscan. 3Dscan offers the full range of procedures for drape measure, including the ability to cover the sample surface with the same texture as the actual scanned fabric.
