Abstract

We report results from the first search for sterile neutrinos mixing with active neutrinos through a reduction in the rate of neutral-current interactions over a baseline of 810\,km between the NOvA detectors. Analyzing a 14-kton detector equivalent exposure of 6.05$\times$10$^{20}$ protons-on-target in the NuMI beam at Fermilab, we observe 95 neutral-current candidates at the Far Detector compared with $83.5 \pm 9.7 \mbox{(stat.)} \pm 9.4 \mbox{(syst.)}$ events predicted assuming mixing only occurs between active neutrino species. No evidence for $\nu_{\mu} \rightarrow \nu_{s}$ transitions is found. Interpreting these results within a 3+1 model, we place constraints on the mixing angles $\theta_{24}<20.8^{\circ}$ and $\theta_{34}<31.2^{\circ}$ at the 90% C.L. for $0.05~eV^2\leq \Delta m^2_{41}\leq 0.5~eV^2$, the range of mass splittings that produce no significant oscillations over the Near Detector baseline., Comment: 8 pages, 4 figures

Abstract

Results are reported from an improved measurement of $\nu_\mu \rightarrow \nu_e$ transitions by the NOvA experiment. Using an exposure equivalent to $6.05\times10^{20}$ protons-on-target 33 $\nu_e$ candidates were observed with a background of $8.2\pm0.8$ (syst.). Abstract

This Letter reports new results on muon neutrino disappearance from NOvA, using a 14 kton detector equivalent exposure of $6.05\times10^{20}$ protons-on-target from the NuMI beam at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory. The measurement probes the muon-tau symmetry hypothesis that requires maximal mixing ($\theta_{23} = \pi/4$). Assuming the normal mass hierarchy, we find $\Delta m^2 = (2.67 \pm 0.11)\times 10^{-3}$ eV$^2$ and $\sin^2 \theta_{23}$ at the two statistically degenerate values $0.404^{+0.030}_{-0.022}$ and $0.624^{+0.022}_{-0.030}$, both at the 68% confidence level. Our data disfavor the maximal mixing scenario with 2.6 $\sigma$ significance., Comment: 7 pages, 3 figures

Abstract

The properties of two-flavored massive Nambu--Jona-Lasinio model in (1+1)-dimensional spacetime are investigated in the presence of isospin and quark number chemical potentials. The consideration is performed in the large-$N_c$ limit, where $N_c$ is the number of colored quarks. Abstract

We investigate the phase portrait of the (1+1)-dimensional massless two-flavored NJL$_2$ model containing a quark number chemical potential $\mu$ and an isospin chemical potential $\mu_I$ in the limit of a large number of colors $N_c\to\infty$. Particular attention is paid to the question to what extent the inclusion of an isospin asymmetry affects chiral condensates to have a spatial inhomogeneity in the form of the so-called chiral density waves (CDW) (chiral spirals). It is shown that at zero temperature and comparatively small values of $\mu$, i.e. at $\mu<\mu_c\approx 0.68M_0$ ($M_0$ is the dynamical quark mass in the vacuum) only the homogeneous charged pion condensation phase is realized for arbitrary nonzero values of $\mu_I$. Contrary to this, for large values of $\mu>\mu_c$, two CDW phases appear in the $(\mu_I,\mu)$-phase diagram of the model. In the first phase, CDWs are clockwise twisted chiral spirals and in the second phase they are counterclockwise. Abstract

The results of studies on the effect of the biostimulator of growth Biostim Universal, sowing patterns and distances in a row of beetroot plants using a drip irrigation system on the yield of the Bordeaux 237 variety on meadow soils of the Tersko-Sulak lowland of the Republic of Dagestan are presented. Studies have shown that two-fold spraying of plants with organomineral fertilization with biostimulator Biostim Universal in the phase of 4-6 leaves and at 50% closing of rows with a dose of 2.0 l / ha with a working solution consumption of 200 ... 400 l/ha contributes to the growth of the assimilation surface of leaves by 9.9 ... 11.5% and an increase in yield by 12.2%. The transition from sowing with a row spacing of 45 cm to strip sowing according to the scheme of 20x8+50 cm with a distance in a row between plants of 8 cm (density 357 thousand pieces/ha), contributes to an increase in the yield of 50 t/ha of root crops and more.
