The ensuing mental health issues are not only restricted to the patients and their relatives/friends but affect the healthcare workers (HCWs) as well. Our study aims to assess these psychological trends during the COVID-19 pandemic between the two most affected population groups, that is, patients and frontline healthcare workers.Patients and Methods: A survey questionnaire, including scales to assess fear, anxiety, stress, depression – PSS 10, and DASS 21, was distributed and sent to all COVID-19 suspected/confirmed individuals and healthcare workers at a tertiary care center along with a second visit after 14 days of answering the first questionnaire and this continued as follow-up. Data were analyzed with the SPSS version 23 using various tests of significance.Results: In the community, COVID-19 patients in the age group 41– 50 with respiratory tract symptoms and those who were home isolated/quarantined experienced a greater tendency of mental health problems. Healthcare workers posted in COVID-19 designated areas of the hospital displayed higher levels of stress, anxiety, and depression.Conclusion: The high degree of uncertainty associated with novel pathogens has a profound effect on the psychological state of suspected/confirmed cases as well as healthcare workers. Within the community, individuals suspected of having COVID-19 display a significant mental health burden, while HCWs also experience an unprecedented amount of stress, anxiety, depression and fear during such enduring situations.Keywords: coronavirus disease 2019, fear, anxiety, depression, stress, survey, healthcare worker

The aim of this research is to enhance the accuracy of biometric palm print identification by using the Novel ResNet50 Algorithm as compared to the X Gradient Boosting. Materials and Methods: In this study, the ResNet50 and X Gradient Boosting algorithms were compared using a sample size of 10 for each algorithm, resulting in a total sample size of 20. The comparison was carried out with a G Power of 0.8 and a confidence interval (CI) of 95% to ensure statistical significance. For this study the Birjand University Mobile Palmprint Database (BMPD) dataset was collected from the Kaggle repository, which includes a total of 1640 images containing both left and right-hand palmprints. Result: According to the results, the ResNet50 algorithm achieved a higher accuracy rate (94.7%) compared to the X Gradient Boosting algorithm (92.4%) in identifying and measuring the images. The present coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has brought the focus back onto the passive immunization potential of the Convalescent plasma. This however has many challenges as availability of recovered patients as donors, eligibility of recovered patients for convalescent plasma donation, Safety profile of convalescent plasma. Considering the lack of efficacious treatments for COVID 19 and the epidemic situation with high mortality rate, the evaluation of convalescent plasma therapy in COVID-19 is the need of the hour. In this article, the feasibility and challenges are discussed based on the literature published on role of convalescent plasma therapy in COVID-19. Based on the limited scientific data available, convalescent plasma transfusion (CPT) therapy in COVID-19 patients appears safe, clinically effective, and reduces mortality. However an ongoing clinical study at our Centre should give us a good direction to establish the efficacy of CPT to COVID-19 patients.

In recent internet era, micro-blogging sites produce enormous amount of short textual information, which appears in the form of opinions or sentiments of users. Sentiment analysis is a challenging task in short text, due to use of formal language, misspellings, and shortened forms of words, which leads to high dimensionality and sparsity. In order to deal with these challenges, this paper proposes a novel, simple, and yet effective feature selection method, to select frequently distributed features related to each class. In this paper, the feature selection method is based on class-wise information, to identify the relevant feature related to each class. We evaluate the proposed feature selection method by comparing with existing feature selection methods like chi-square ( χ2), entropy, information gain, and mutual information. The performances are evaluated using classification accuracy obtained from support vector machine, K nearest neighbors, and random forest classifiers on two publically available datasets viz., Stanford Twitter dataset and Ravikiran Janardhana dataset. In order to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed feature selection method, we conducted extensive experimentation by selecting different feature sets. The proposed feature selection method outperforms the existing feature selection methods in terms of classification accuracy on the Stanford Twitter dataset. Similarly, the proposed method performs competently equally in terms of classification accuracy compared to other feature selection methods in most of the feature subsets on Ravikiran Janardhana dataset.

Background and Objectives Central venous pressure (CVP) and peripheral venous pressure (PVP) are strongly correlated during various surgeries. This study was designed to examine the consistency of CVP–PVP relationships in circumstances of rapidly fluctuating hemodynamics in neurosurgical patients. Prime objective of this study was to determine if PVP can be an effective alternative to invasive CVP for assessing volume status during neurosurgical procedures when expertise, equipment, and patient’s condition contraindicate invasive monitoring. Subjects and Methods After the approval by the Institutional Ethics Committee, CVP and PVP were measured in 50 neurosurgical patients of the American Society of Anesthesiologists grade I and II operated in supine position. Paired measurements of CVP and PVP were made every 20 minutes, from the starting of anesthesia until the end of surgery; however, in situations of hemodynamic instability, the readings were taken every 5 minutes of interval. Results The study showed a strong correlation between CVP and PVP (Pearson’s correlation coefficient between CVP and PVP, r = 0.89; 95% CI: 0.81–0.93; p < 0.001). Mean CVP was 5.7 ± 0.8 mm of Hg, mean PVP was 10.4 ± 0.6 mm of Hg, and bias between CVP and PVP was 4.7 ± 0.4 (95% CI: − 4.61 to − 4.83). The Bland–Altman analysis showed that limit of agreement to be 4.0 to 5.5 mm of Hg. Conclusion This study demonstrated a strong correlation between CVP and PVP. Therefore, PVP monitoring may be a reliable alternative to CVP monitoring during neurosurgery.

Ghost cells associated odontogenic lesions are a diverse group with a variety of presentations in the jaws. Calcifying cystic odontogenic tumor is a benign cystic neoplasm of odontogenic origin which demonstrates ghost cells in the epithelial component. This tumor sometimes mimics the features of a cyst clinically and radiographically, but histopathologically as well as behavior-wise shows the features of a tumor. Many classification systems have been proposed and revised from time to time. Presently a dualistic concept is highlighted to classify this group of lesions. The present case highlights a case of calcifying cystic odontogenic tumor associated with a complex composite odontome, which appeared like a cyst clinically and radiographically. Background: Paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH) is characterized by intravascular hemolysis, marrow failure, nocturnal hemoglobinuria and thrombophila. This acquired disease caused by a deficiency of glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI) anchored proteins on the hematopoietic cells is uncommon in the Indian population. Materials and Methods: Data of patients diagnosed with PNH in the past 1 year were collected. Clinical data (age, gender, various presenting symptoms), treatment information and follow-up data were collected from medical records. Results of relevant diagnostic tests were documented i.e., urine analysis, Ham′s test, sucrose lysis test and sephacryl gel card test (GCT) for CD55 and CD59. Results: A total of 5 patients were diagnosed with PNH in the past 1 year. Presenting symptoms were hemolytic anemia (n=4) and bone marrow failure (n=1). A GCT detected CD59 deficiency in all erythrocytes in 4 patients and CD55 deficiency in 2 patients. A weak positive PNH test for CD59 was seen in 1 patient and a weak positive PNH test for CD55 was seen in 3 patients. All patients were negative by sucrose lysis test. Ham′s test was positive in two cases. Patients were treated with prednisolone and/or androgen and 1 patient with aplastic anemia was also given antithymocyte globulin. A total of 4 patients responded with a partial recovery of hematopoiesis and 1 patient showed no recovery. None of the patients received a bone marrow transplant. Conclusion: The study highlights the diagnostic methods and treatment protocols undertaken to evaluate the PNH clone in a developing country where advanced methods like flowcytometry immunophenotyping (FCMI) and bone marrow transplants are not routinely available.

Reactions induced by the weakly bound 6Li projectile interacting with the intermediate mass target 52Cr are investigated. The choice of this particular reaction in our study is because it is proposed as a surrogate reaction [6Li(52Cr, d)56Fe*] for the measurement of 55Fe(n,p) reaction cross-section, which has been found to be very important in fusion reactor studies. All the conditions which have to be satisfied for using the surrogate method have been checked. The energy of 6Li beam is selected in a way so as to get equivalent neutron energy in the region of 9-14 MeV, which is of primary interest in fusion reactor application. In the present work, statistical model calculations PACE (Projection-Angular-Momentum-Coupled-Evaporation), ALICE and Continuum-Discretized–Coupled-Channel (CDCC: FRESCO) have been used to provide information for the 6Li + 52Cr system and the respective contributions of different reaction mechanisms. The present theoretical work is an important step in the direction towards studying the cross-section of the 55Fe(n, p)55Mn reaction by surrogate method.
