We present a novel simulation of a strongly interacting dark sector also known as the Hidden Valley scenarios using angular ordered showers and the cluster hadronisation model in Herwig 7. We discuss the basics of this implementation and the scale hierarchies underpinning the simulation. With the help of a few benchmarks, we show the effect of variation of dark sector parameters on thrust and angularities within the dark sector, and study correlation functions, which can be helpful for understanding the angular structure of these events. Finally we comment on the uncertainties introduced due to lack of knowledge of hadronisation parameters within the dark sectors., Comment: 12 pages, 16 figures

We study the potential to probe the origin of neutrino masses, by searching for long-lived right-handed neutrinos~(RHNs) $N$ in the $B-L$ gauge model. Despite the small active-sterile mixing $|V_{\ell N}|^2$, RHNs are produced abundantly via SM and exotic Higgs production, as long as the Higgs mixing is sufficiently large. We reinterpret a search for displaced showers in the CMS muon system and we find that it is sensitive to parameter space at and below the canonical seesaw floor, $|V_{\ell N}|^2 \approx 10^{-12}$ ($\ell = e$, $\tau$) for $m_N \approx 40$ GeV. With existing data constraining such a well-motivated scenario of neutrino mass generation, we determine the projected sensitivity at the HL-LHC, motivating dedicated searches for long-lived RHNs with decay lengths $\approx 10$ m., Comment: 12 pages, 5 figures + appendix

We consider pseudo Nambu-Goldstone bosons arising from Dirac fermions transforming in real representations of a confining gauge group as dark matter candidates. We consider a special case of two Dirac fermions and couple the resulting dark sector to the Standard Model using a vector mediator. Within this construction, we develop a consistent low energy effective theory, with special attention to Wess-Zumino-Witten term given the topologically non-trivial coset space. We furthermore include the heavier spin-0 flavour singlet state and the spin-1 vector meson multiplet, by using the Hidden Local Symmetry Lagrangian for the latter. Although we concentrate on special case of two flavours, our results are generic and can be applied to a wider variety of theories featuring real representations. We apply our formalism and comment on the effect of the flavour singlet for dark matter phenomenology. Stable dark matter particles may arise as pseudo-Goldstone bosons from the confinement of dark quarks interacting via a non-Abelian gauge force. Their relic abundance is determined not by annihilations into visible particles but by dark pion number-changing processes within the dark sector, such as $3 \pi_D \to 2 \pi_D$. However, if the dark vector mesons $\rho_D$ are light enough for $3 \pi_D \to \pi_D \rho_D$ annihilations to be kinematically allowed, this process dominates and significantly delays freeze-out. The possibility of searching for right-handed neutrinos at the MoEDAL's Apparatus for Penetrating Particles (MAPP) detector is investigated in this work. In particular, pair-production of right-handed (RH) neutrinos $N$ from either a $B-L$ gauge boson $Z'$, as well as Standard Model (SM) $Z$ boson are considered. Under a no-background assumption, we show that the MAPP detector can be sensitive to active-sterile neutrino mixing strengths as low as $V_{\mu N}^2 \approx 10^{-12}$ for multiple choices of $m_N / m_{Z'}$ values, when taking the $B-L$ gauge coupling $g_{B-L} = 10^{-3}$ near its current limit. The SM $Z$ boson portal can reach a similar sensitivity, when the effective mixing between the $B-L$ and SM gauge boson is $\alpha \approx 0.01$., Comment: 13 pages+refs, 5 figures. The stable hadronic bound states in a hidden new non-Abelian gauge sector provide interesting candidates for strongly-interacting Dark Matter (DM). A particular example are theories in which DM is made up of dark pions which set the DM relic abundance through self-annihilation. One of the simplest realizations is $Sp(4)_c$ gauge theory with two Dirac fermions. We analyze the scenario within the Next to Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (NMSSM), where the lightest supersymmetric particle (LSP) is singlino-like neutralino. By systematically considering various possible admixtures in the electroweakino sector, we classify regions of parameter space where the next to lightest supersymmetric particle (NLSP) is a long-lived electroweakino while remaining consistent with constraints from flavor physics, dark matter direct detection, and collider data. We identify viable cascade decay modes featuring the long-lived NLSP for directly produced chargino-neutralino pairs, thus, leading to displaced vertex signatures at the high luminosity LHC (HL-LHC). We construct track based analysis in order to uncover such scenarios at the HL-LHC and analyze their discovery potential. We show that through such focused searches for the long-lived particles at the HL-LHC, one can probe regions of the electroweakino parameter space that are otherwise challenging., Comment: 34 pages, 11 figures, 3 tables

In this work, we consider the case of a strongly coupled dark/hidden sector, which extends the Standard Model (SM) by adding an additional non-Abelian gauge group. These extensions generally contain matter fields, much like the SM quarks, and gauge fields similar to the SM gluons. We focus on the exploration of such sectors where the dark particles are produced at the LHC through a portal and undergo rapid hadronization within the dark sector before decaying back, at least in part and potentially with sizeable lifetimes, to SM particles, giving a range of possibly spectacular signatures such as emerging or semi-visible jets. Other, non-QCD-like scenarios leading to soft unclustered energy patterns or glueballs are also discussed. After a review of the theory, existing benchmarks and constraints, this work addresses how to build consistent benchmarks from the underlying physical parameters and present new developments for the PYTHIA Hidden Valley module, along with jet substructure studies. The existence of non-zero neutrino masses points to the likely existence of multiple SM neutral fermions. When such states are heavy enough that they cannot be produced in oscillations, they are referred to as Heavy Neutral Leptons (HNLs). In this white paper we discuss the present experimental status of HNLs including colliders, beta decay, accelerators, as well as astrophysical and cosmological impacts. We discuss the importance of continuing to search for HNLs, and its potential impact on our understanding on key fundamental questions, and additionally we outline the future prospects for next-generation future experiments or upcoming accelerator run scenarios., Comment: 82 pages, 34 figures. We investigate the pair-production of Right-Handed Neutrinos (RHNs) via a $B-L$ $Z'$ boson and the detection prospects at the High-Luminosity run of the LHC (HL-LHC) and a future $pp$ collider (FCC-hh). We focus on RHN states with a mass of $10-70$ GeV which naturally results in displaced vertices for small active-sterile mixing strengths. Being produced through a mass resonance with $m_{Z'} \ge 1$ TeV, the RHNs are heavily boosted, leading to collimated decay products that give rise to fat-jets. We investigate the detection prospect of dedicated signatures in the inner detector and the muon spectrometer, namely a pair of displaced fat-jets and the associated tracks, respectively. We find that both the HL-LHC and FCC-hh can be sensitive to small active-sterile mixing $V_{\mu N} > 10^{-6}$ and $V_{\mu N} > 10^{-7}$ with the number of events reaching $\mathcal{O}(10)$ and $\mathcal{O}(10^3)$, respectively. High energy collisions at the High-Luminosity Large Hadron Collider (LHC) produce a large number of particles along the beam collision axis, outside of the acceptance of existing LHC experiments. The proposed Forward Physics Facility (FPF), to be located several hundred meters from the ATLAS interaction point and shielded by concrete and rock, will host a suite of experiments to probe Standard Model (SM) processes and search for physics beyond the Standard Model (BSM). In this report, we review the status of the civil engineering plans and the experiments to explore the diverse physics signals that can be uniquely probed in the forward region. FPF experiments will be sensitive to a broad range of BSM physics through searches for new particle scattering or decay signatures and deviations from SM expectations in high statistics analyses with TeV neutrinos in this low-background environment. High statistics neutrino detection will also provide valuable data for fundamental topics in perturbative and non-perturbative QCD and in weak interactions. Experiments at the FPF will enable synergies between forward particle production at the LHC and astroparticle physics to be exploited. We investigate the potential of the 100 TeV future circular collider (FCC-hh) to probe heavy neutrinos. We concentrate in particular on heavy neutrino production via a $U(1)_{B-L}$ $Z'$ gauge boson and contrast the resulting limits with that mediated by Standard Model weak currents. We consider heavy neutrino decays to semi-leptonic as well as fully leptonic final states, particularly with muon flavour, and we show the importance of considering searches both in prompt and displaced decays of the heavy neutrinos. For prompt final states, semi-leptonic modes are more promising due to smaller background and larger yields, and TeV-scale heavy neutrinos with active-sterile mixing compatible with light neutrino mass generation in a seesaw scenario can be probed for a 5 TeV $Z'$ and gauge coupling as low as $g_{B-L} = 10^{-2}$. Strongly interacting massive particles are viable dark matter candidates. We consider a dark $Sp(4)$ gauge theory with $N_f=2$ fermions in the pseudo-real fundamental representation and construct the chiral low-energy effective theory. We determine the flavor multiplet structure and the chiral Lagrangian, including the Wess-Zumino-Witten term for mass-degenerate and non-degenerate flavors. We then study the possible charge assignments under a $U(1)'$ gauge symmetry, emphasizing on dark state stability, and provide the full Lagrangian description for Goldstone bosons and vector resonances, including the Wess-Zumino-Witten term. Finally, we use dedicated lattice simulations to determine the chiral low-energy effective theory's validity and low-energy constants. This work represents a self-consistent study of this non-Abelian theory. We present a study of the constraining power of low-threshold, high-resolution direct-detection experiments for a biportal simplified dark matter model. In the scenario we consider here, dark matter and Standard Model particles interact through two dark vector mediators $-$ one light and one heavy with respect to the momentum transfer in the experiment. Interference effects at the level of scattering amplitudes can lead to novel marked shape features in the differential recoil spectra, which are best exploited by high-resolution, low-threshold experiments. We identify the region in parameters space for our model where such effects are dominant and show that composite-target experiments with large atomic mass differences are ideal to explore these scenarios. We develop a profile likelihood approach to analyze presently available and future data. Using published results by the CRESST-III experiment and projections of future sensitivities for the COSINUS experiment, we constrain the parameter space in our model, thereby showing the potential of such an analysis on a class of dark matter models which exhibit non-standard features in the recoil spectra., Comment: matches published version

We present version 2 of SModelS, a program package for the fast reinterpretation of LHC searches for new physics on the basis of simplified model results. The major novelty of the SModelS v2 series is an extended topology description with a flexible number of particle attributes, such as spin, charge, decay width, etc. This enables, in particular, the treatment of a wide range of signatures with long-lived particles. Moreover, constraints from prompt and long-lived searches can be evaluated simultaneously in the same run. The current database includes results from searches for heavy stable charged particles, disappearing tracks, displaced jets and displaced leptons, in addition to a large number of prompt searches. The capabilities of the program are demonstrated by two physics applications: constraints on long-lived charged scalars in the scotogenic model, and constraints on the electroweak-ino sector in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model., Comment: 42 pages, 15 figures, 3 tables. In the presence of transition magnetic moments between active and sterile neutrinos, the search for a Primakoff upscattering process at coherent elastic neutrino-nucleus scattering (CE$\nu$NS) experiments can provide stringent constraints on the neutrino magnetic moment. We show that a radiative upscattering process with an emitted photon in the final state can induce a novel coincidence signal at CE$\nu$NS experiments that can also probe neutrino transition magnetic moments beyond existing limits. Furthermore, the differential distributions for such a radiative mode can also potentially be sensitive to the Dirac vs. Majorana nature of the sterile state mediating the process. The field of particle physics is at the crossroads. The discovery of a Higgs-like boson completed the Standard Model (SM), but the lacking observation of convincing resonances Beyond the SM (BSM) offers no guidance for the future of particle physics. On the other hand, the motivation for New Physics has not diminished and is, in fact, reinforced by several striking anomalous results in many experiments. Here we summarise the status of the most significant anomalies, including the most recent results for the flavour anomalies, the multi-lepton anomalies at the LHC, the Higgs-like excess at around 96 GeV, and anomalies in neutrino physics, astrophysics, cosmology, and cosmic rays. While the LHC promises up to 4/ab of integrated luminosity and far-reaching physics programmes to unveil BSM physics, we consider the possibility that the latter could be tested with present data, but that systemic shortcomings of the experiments and their search strategies may preclude their discovery for several reasons, including: final states consisting in soft particles only, associated production processes, QCD-like final states, close-by SM resonances, and SUSY scenarios where no missing energy is produced. New search strategies could help to unveil the hidden BSM signatures, devised by making use of the CERN open data as a new testing ground. We discuss the CERN open data with its policies, challenges, and potential usefulness for the community. We showcase the example of the CMS collaboration, which is the only collaboration regularly releasing some of its data. We find it important to stress that individuals using public data for their own research does not imply competition with experimental efforts, but rather provides unique opportunities to give guidance for further BSM searches by the collaborations. SModelS is an automatized tool enabling the fast interpretation of simplified model results from the LHC within any model of new physics respecting a $\mathbb{Z}_2$ symmetry. In this contribution, we report on two important updates of SModelS during 2020: the extension of the SModelS' database with 13 ATLAS and 10 CMS analyses, including 5 ATLAS and 1 CMS analyses at full Run~2 luminosity, and the ability to use full likelihoods now provided by ATLAS in the form of pyhf JSON files. In this work we analyse the ultimate sensitivity of dark matter direct detection experiments, the "neutrino-floor", in the presence of anomalous sources of dark radiation in form of SM or semi-sterile neutrinos. This flux-component is assumed to be produced from dark matter decay. Since dark radiation may mimic dark matter signals, we perform our analysis based on likelihood statistics that allows to test the distinguishability between signals and backgrounds. We show that the neutrino floor for xenon-based experiments may be lifted in the presence of extra dark radiation. In addition, we explore the testability of neutrino dark radiation from dark matter decay in direct detection experiments. Given the previous bounds from neutrino experiments, we find that xenon-based dark matter searches will not be able to probe new regions of the dark matter progenitor mass and lifetime parameter space when the decay products are SM neutrinos. In turn, if the decay instead happens to a fourth neutrino species with enhanced interactions to baryons, DR can either constitute the dominant background or a discoverable signal in direct detection experiments., Comment: 15 pages, 9 figures

We report on the status of efforts to improve the reinterpretation of searches and measurements at the LHC in terms of models for new physics, in the context of the LHC Reinterpretation Forum. We detail current experimental offerings in direct searches for new particles, measurements, technical implementations and Open Data, and provide a set of recommendations for further improving the presentation of LHC results in order to better enable reinterpretation in the future. In this work, we analyse and demonstrate possible strategies to explore extended Higgs sector of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM). In particular we concentrate on heavy Higgs decays to electroweakinos. We analyse the Higgs to electroweakino decays in the allowed MSSM parameter space after taking into account 13 TeV LHC searches for supersymmetric particles and phenomenological constraints such as flavour physics, Higgs measurements and dark matter constraints. We explore some novel aspects of these Higgs decays. The final states resulting from Higgs to electroweakino decays will have backgrounds arising from the Standard Model as well as direct electroweakino production at the LHC. We demonstrate explicit kinematical differences between Higgs to electroweakino decays and associated backgrounds. Furthermore, we demonstrate for a few specific example points, optimised analysis search strategies at the high luminosity LHC (HL-LHC) run. Finally, we comment on possible search strategies for heavy Higgs decays to exotic final states, where the lightest chargino is long lived and leads to a disappearing track at the LHC., Comment: Version 2; Accepted for publication in JHEP

The existence of dark matter particles that carry phenomenologically relevant self-interaction cross sections mediated by light dark sector states is considered to be severely constrained through a combination of experimental and observational data. The conclusion is based on the assumption of specific dark matter production mechanisms such as thermal freeze-out together with an extrapolation of a standard cosmological history beyond the epoch of primordial nucleosynthesis. In this work, we drop these assumptions and examine the scenario from the perspective of the current firm knowledge we have: results from direct and indirect dark matter searches and cosmological and astrophysical observations, without additional assumptions on dark matter genesis or the thermal state of the very early universe. We show that even in the minimal set-up, where dark matter particles self-interact via a kinetically mixed vector mediator, a significant amount of parameter space remains allowed. Interestingly, however, these parameter regions imply a meta-stable, light mediator, which in turn calls for modified search strategies., Comment: Minor changes, to match the published version

We investigate the potential of LHC resonance searches in leptonic final states to probe the $Z'$ in the minimal $U(1)_{B-L}$ model. Considering the current constraints on the $Z'$ in terms of its mass $m_{Z'}$ and the associated gauge coupling $g_{B-L}$ as well as constraints in the Higgs sector, we analyse the potential of dilepton and four lepton final states for $Z'$ production. This includes Drell-Yan production, Higgs mediated decays and final state radiation processes concentrating only on the ATLAS and CMS detectors at the LHC. We show that the four-lepton final state is sensitive to $m_{Z'}$ as low as 0.25 GeV. Furthermore, setting the Higgs mixing to $\sin\alpha = 0.3$, this final state has a strong sensitivity and it probes regions of parameter space where the $Z'$ is long-lived. We demonstrate the sensitivity at the High Luminosity LHC and comment on the potential of probing displaced vertices due to long-lived $Z'$. We investigate the pair production of right-handed neutrinos from the decay of an additional neutral $Z^{\prime}$ boson in the gauged $B-L$ model. Taking into account current constraints on the $Z^{\prime}$ mass and the associated gauge coupling $g_{1}^{\prime}$, we analyse the sensitivity of proposed experiments at the lifetime frontier, FASER 2, CODEX-b, MATHUSLA as well as a hypothetical version of the MAPP detector to a long lived heavy neutrino $N$ originating in the decays of the $Z^{\prime}$. We further complement this study with determining the reach of LHCb and a CMS-type detector for the high-luminosity LHC run. We demonstrate that in a background free scenario with $g_1^\prime = 10^{-3}$ near the current limit, FASER 2 is sensitive to the active-sterile neutrino mixing down to $V_{\mu N} \approx 10^{-4}$, while a reach of $V_{\mu N} \approx 10^{-5}$ can be obtained for CODEX-b and LHCb, in a mass regime of $m_N \approx 5-20$ GeV and $m_{Z^{\prime}} \approx 20-70$ GeV. Finally, MATHUSLA can probe $V_{\mu N} \approx 10^{-7}$ and cover the mixing regime expected in a canonical seesaw scenario of light neutrino mass generation., Comment: 20 pages, 6 figures, matches published version

SModelS is an automatised tool enabling the fast interpretation of simplified model results from the LHC within any model of new physics respecting a $\mathbb{Z}_2$ symmetry. With the version 1.2 we announce several new features. First, previous versions were restricted to missing energy signatures and assumed prompt decays within each decay chain. SModelS v1.2 considers the lifetime of each $\mathbb{Z}_2$-odd particle and appropriately takes into account missing energy, heavy stable charge particle and R-hadron signatures. Second, the current version allows for a combination of signal regions in efficiency map results whenever a covariance matrix is available from the experiment. This is an important step towards fully exploiting the constraining power of efficiency map results. Several other improvements increase the user-friendliness, such as the use of wildcards in the selection of experimental results, and a faster database which can be given as a URL. In the framework of the $(B-L)$ Supersymmetric Standard Model (BLSSM), we assess the ability of ground and space based experiments to establish the nature of its prevalent Dark Matter (DM) candidate, the sneutrino, which could either be CP-even or -odd. Firstly, by benchmarking this theory construct against the results obtained by the Planck spacecraft, we extract the portions of the BLSSM parameter space compliant with relic density data. Secondly, we show that, based on current sensitivities of the Fermi Large Area Telescope (FermiLAT) and their future projections, the study of high-energy $\gamma$-ray spectra will eventually enable us to extract evidence of this DM candidate through its annihilations into $W^+W^-$ pairs (in turn emitting photons), in the form of both an integrated flux and a differential energy spectrum which cannot be reconciled with the assumption of DM being fermionic (like, e.g., a neutralino), although it should not be possible to distinguish between the scalar and pseudoscalar hypotheses. Thirdly, we show that, while underground direct detection experiments will have little scope in testing sneutrino DM, the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) may be able to do so in a variety of multi-lepton signatures, with and without accompanying jets (plus missing transverse energy), following data collection during Run 2 and 3., Comment: 16 pages, 8 figures

The search for heavy Higgs bosons is an important step to probe the parameter space of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model. In this work, we classify all possible decay modes of the supersymmetric heavy Higgs boson using the SModelS framework. We work within the phenomenological MSSM and use the ATLAS pMSSM study as our viable parameter space. We find that for a bino-like and higgsino-like LSP, a significant region of the parameter space results in mono-$X$ ($X$ = $h$, $W$, $Z$) final states. For wino-like LSPs, we demonstrate the existence of displaced vertex signatures with a large signal cross section. We investigate to which extent the SUSY search results published by ATLAS and CMS in the context of simplified models actually cover the more realistic scenarios of a full model. Concretely, we work within the phenomenological MSSM (pMSSM) with 19 free parameters and compare the constraints obtained from SModelSv1.1.1 with those from the ATLAS pMSSM study in arXiv:1508.06608. We find that about 40-45% of the points excluded by ATLAS escape the currently available simplified model constraints. For these points we identify the most relevant topologies which are not tested by the current simplified model results. In particular, we find that topologies with asymmetric branches, including 3-jet signatures from gluino-squark associated production, could be important for improving the current constraining power of simplified models results. Furthermore, for a better coverage of light stops and sbottoms, constraints for decays via heavier neutralinos and charginos, which subsequently decay visibly to the lightest neutralino are also needed., Comment: 29 pages, 13 figures, 5 tables, journal version

We explore the potential of future cryogenic direct detection experiments to determine the properties of the mediator that communicates the interactions between dark matter and nuclei. Due to their low thresholds and large exposures, experiments like CRESST-III, SuperCDMS SNOLAB and EDELWEISS-III will have excellent capability to reconstruct mediator masses in the MeV range for a large class of models. Combining the information from several experiments further improves the parameter reconstruction, even when taking into account additional nuisance parameters related to background uncertainties and the dark matter velocity distribution. Dark matter particles could annihilate into light and metastable mediators subsequently decaying far away from where they are produced. In this scenario, the indirect signatures of dark matter are altered with respect to the conventional situation where standard model particles are directly injected where annihilation happens. We explore here this new phenomenology for which we devise the tools. We calculate the effective dark matter distribution resulting from the smearing by mediator propagation. We derive the fluxes of mediators and their decay particles. We study how the $J$-factor, which naturally appears in the calculation of the dark matter induced gamma ray signal, is modified in the presence of mediators. We also derive the anisotropy which the cosmic ray positron flux exhibits in this scenario. We finally comment upon a recent proposal based on long-lived mediators where the effective dark matter density at the Earth is increased such as to explain the cosmic ray positron anomaly. We conclude that this scenario is barely tenable as regards the very dense dark matter spike which it requires at the Galactic center. The associated positron anisotropy is very small and undetectable, except at high energies where it reaches a level of order $10^{-4}$ to $10^{-3}$., Comment: To match the published version

Weakly-coupled TeV-scale particles may mediate the interactions between normal matter and dark matter. If so, the LHC would produce dark matter through these mediators, leading to the familiar "mono-X" search signatures, but the mediators would also produce signals without missing momentum via the same vertices involved in their production. This document from the LHC Dark Matter Working Group suggests how to compare searches for these two types of signals in case of vector and axial-vector mediators, based on a workshop that took place on September 19/20, 2016 and subsequent discussions. We investigate the effect of new physics interacting with both Dark Matter (DM) and neutrinos at DM direct detection experiments. Working within a simplified model formalism, we consider vector and scalar mediators to determine the scattering of DM as well as the modified scattering of solar neutrinos off nuclei. Using existing data from LUX as well as the expected sensitivity of LUX-ZEPLIN and DARWIN, we set limits on the couplings of the mediators to quarks, neutrinos and DM. Given the current limits, we also assess the true DM discovery potential of direct detection experiments under the presence of exotic neutrino interactions. In the case of a vector mediator, we show that the DM discovery reach of future experiments is affected for DM masses $m_\chi \lesssim 10$ GeV or DM scattering cross sections $\sigma_\chi \lesssim 10^{-47}$ cm$^2$. SModelS is an automatised tool for the interpretation of simplified model results from the LHC. It allows to decompose models of new physics obeying a Z2 symmetry into simplified model components, and to compare these against a large database of experimental results. The first release of SModelS, v1.0, used only cross section upper limit maps provided by the experimental collaborations. In this new release, v1.1, we extend the functionality of SModelS to efficiency maps. This increases the constraining power of the software, as efficiency maps allow to combine contributions to the same signal region from different simplified models. Other new features of version 1.1 include likelihood and chi-square calculations, extended information on the topology coverage, an extended database of experimental results as well as major speed upgrades for both the code and the database. We describe in detail the concepts and procedures used in SModelS, explaining in particular how upper limits and efficiency map results are dealt with in parallel. We consider minimal dark matter scenarios featuring momentum-dependent couplings of the dark sector to the Standard Model. We derive constraints from existing LHC searches in the monojet channel, estimate the future LHC sensitivity for an integrated luminosity of 300 fb$^{-1}$, and compare with models exhibiting conventional momentum-independent interactions with the dark sector. In addition to being well motivated by (composite) pseudo-Goldstone dark matter scenarios, momentum-dependent couplings are interesting as they weaken direct detection constraints. We explore the ability of the high luminosity LHC to test models which can explain the 750 GeV diphoton excess. We focus on a wide class of models where a 750 GeV singlet scalar couples to Standard Model gauge bosons and quarks, as well as dark matter. Including both gluon and photon fusion production mechanisms, we show that LHC searches in channels correlated with the diphoton signal will be able to probe wide classes of diphoton models with $\mathcal{L} \sim 3000\, \text{fb}^{-1}$ of data. The ATLAS and CMS collaborations recently reported a mild excess in the diphoton final state pointing to a resonance with a mass of around 750 GeV and a potentially large width. We consider the possibility of a scalar resonance being produced via gluon fusion and decaying to electroweak gauge bosons, jets and pairs of invisible particles, stable at collider scales. We compute limits from monojet searches on such a resonance and test their compatibility with the requirement for a large width. We also study whether the stable particle can be a a dark matter candidate and investigate the corresponding relic density constraints along with the collider limits. We show that monojet searches rule out a large part of the available parameter space and point out scenarios where a broad diphoton resonance can be reconciled with monojet constraints., Comment: Matches published version

We interpret the 2 TeV excesses at the LHC in a left-right symmetric model with Higgs doublets and spontaneous $D$-parity violation. The light neutrino masses are understood via a linear seesaw, suppressed by a high $D$-parity breaking scale, and the heavy neutrinos have a pseudo-Dirac character. In addition, with a suppressed right-handed gauge coupling $g_R / g_L \approx 0.6$ in an $SO(10)$ embedding, we can thereby interpret the observed $eejj$ excess at CMS. We show that it can be reconciled with the diboson and dijet excesses within a simplified scenario based on our model. Moreover, we find that the mixing between the light and heavy neutrinos can be potentially large which would induce dominant non-standard contributions to neutrinoless double beta decay via long-range $\lambda$ and $\eta$ neutrino exchange., Comment: References added, typos fixed, matches published version, 12 pages, 4 figures

This document is the final report of the ATLAS-CMS Dark Matter Forum, a forum organized by the ATLAS and CMS collaborations with the participation of experts on theories of Dark Matter, to select a minimal basis set of dark matter simplified models that should support the design of the early LHC Run-2 searches. A prioritized, compact set of benchmark models is proposed, accompanied by studies of the parameter space of these models and a repository of generator implementations. This report also addresses how to apply the Effective Field Theory formalism for collider searches and present the results of such interpretations.
