Why is the Manifesto of the Communist Party present today? It recognized the revolutionary globalization dynamics of capitalism, anti-capitalism was considered, there was no defeatism, there was a clear fence of various reactionary socialisms and philanthropy, the relationship between necessity and freedom was defined in a new way and the melodrama of the left was avoided.

- Abstract
Čerčil, A. Šper)., An autobiography (AB) is a narrative testimony of the changes experienced in oneself and one’s time but also an active creation of the meaning. AB are not individual but collective texts. The influential autobiographers as actors of memory shape past and future expectations, disappointments, and hopes, and create cognitive schemes for the understanding of the possibilities of the present. Memoirs are influential AB in the transition periods. AB narratively overcome the mass uncertainties of self-vision among readers. The audience in their own contingent life often looks for a narrative harmony similar to that of a respectable autobiographer. The paper considers some pacts of influential autobiographers with the audience (D. Ćosić, V. Churchill, A. Speer.

The natural law is a overempiric law that does not owe his dignity to the legal norm than to the intrinsic qualities of a human being. This paper presents a different hierarchical position of the natural law in the critics of capitalism from K. Marx to our days and its different intonation as a superpositive framework of justice. One should analytically differentiate between (1) theoretical search for social justice in the philosophy of the natural law (K.Marx, M.Weber, G.Radbruch, L.Strauss, E.Bloch, Lj.Tadić) and (2) empirical identification of power relations that allowed or hindered social justice in the reality. The paper provides analysis of historically different relationships between positive and radical natural law in both the compressed 20th century epochal conscience and today’s neoliberal one. In addition, it compares role of the natural law in capitalism and socialism and differentiates between social justice from above and social justice from below. The first one is gratuitous, paternalistic and limited, the second one is radical and has to be conquered. Radical natural law should express itself as a fully developed social justice liberated from capitalism. Critic of social unjustice from the viewpoint of natural law has no practical effects in our days, and in spite of it, it is not anachronistic. This paper considers the epistemological value of the concept of political theology in thanatopolitics. The concept can be useful if one wants to interpret political usage of death. In addition to blurred boundaries between politics and theology, there is a more general and deeper socially integrative affinity between the two. In addition, there have been various politicizations of salvation in the past and in the present. Every political theology accentuates obedience as an immanent condition of salvation, although interpretation of death in political theology has a different function than in secular ideologies. In the centre of politically theological ideas one can find crosscutting of the divisions between public friend and public enemy from political world with similar divisions from religious world. Finally, beside the theological influence on politics, this paper considers some analogies between theology and the secular judiciary. The paper offers a thanato-sociological analysis of the funerals of Tito, F. Tuđman and S. Milošević, documenting various ideological contents and various political roles of the funerals of heads of state. Tito’s charisma was class-based, supranational and Yugoslav, while the other two were national authorities. Tito’s funeral was a symbol of peace, Tudjman’s of national liberation, and Milošević’s a symbol resistance to imperialism. In the paper group symbols at the funerals are analyzed, along with the content of laudatio funebris, dimensions of authority of the deceased, key rhetorical figures, the structure of the funeral accompaniment and the appearance of the grave.

The article presents a brief history of the concept of generations. It focuses on Karl Mannheim’s article "Problems of Generations" (1928), its social origins and theoretical content. Mannheim’s role was crucial in 20th century development of the (new) concept of generation. In order to understand the problem of social (historical) generations and evaluate Mannheim’s position within the concept’s development, several points are discussed in more detail: the history of the concept of "generations", the relationship between class and generation, and how ideas about the formation of generations help us to understand social dynamics over time. In doing so we assume that the origin of Mannheim’s lecture lies in the generational experience of Hungarian intellectuals during the collapse of the old order of the Dual Monarchy and the Revolution of 1918-19. The Budapest intellectual life in the 1910s was important for Mannheim’s "Problems of generations", as well as A. Weber’s cultural sociology. Finally, the article analyzes the migration of the generations concept from one culture (Germany) to another (the United States), and from one discipline (sociology) to another (memory culture).

Image of the past is an active framework of reference values that indirectly gives a meaning to and influences social development. The past provides a symbolic framework to the individuals and groups by which they conceptualize their existence. Changing the image of the past is an important part of the transition of values. The past is an active framework of social action not just passively reframed ideas adapted to the needs of the present. Since 1990s the past has been radically changed, reinvented and revisioned in newly formed Balkan states in order to initiate new development towards the national capitalism. The changing of the past was rather patchy in Serbia. While the Serbian opposition in 1990s (similarly to ruling elites in other newly founded states) has reconciled quickly its vision of the past to the new image of national capitalism, the radical changes in official statements about the past happened only after the 2000. Broadly speaking, in the Serbian memory culture there are two main value orientations marked by the past: (1) antifascism and (2) Hilandar (a famous Serbian cloister in Greece). Antifascism is a mark of rationalism, multiculturalism, brotherhood and unity, left position and anticonservatism, Hilandar is a mark of religion and national exclusivity and conservatism and the right values. The first one withdraws, the second is presently hegemonic.

- Abstract

- Abstract

- Abstract
Razmotreni su kriteriji razlikovanja istorijskih, političkih i herojskih generacija i prikazani njihovi konkretni primeri u SAD, SR Nemačkoj, NR Kini, Srbiji i Hrvatskoj.

- Abstract
In this paper the author analyzed action and role of the creative intelligentsia gathered around the Serbian Orthodox Church (Srpska pravoslavna crkva), The Association of Serbian writers (Udruženje književnika Srbije), Serbian Academy of Arts and Sciences (Srpska akademija nauka i umetnosti) and the press in the 1980s. Each of these institutions, including the intellectuals journalists, consider the Kosovo issue as the topic of national interest and they based the program of Serbian national politics on it. That gave Kosovo myth the cohesion role in the structure of Serbian national consciousness as it was considered as the cultural and historical capital of Serbian nation and as one of the constitutive elements of national identity. The myth is a story that is truly important to a community, because, what is important for its strength is not how true it is, but how important it is for the community itself. In this way, the emphasis is not about the relation between true - false, but worthy - unworthy, important - unimportant, good - bad. Thus myth becomes a repository of values of a community, that is the central ethical structure of a community. The Kosovo myth is actually the Kosovo testament, or The Vidovdan ethics, and a morality tale, which includes highest values of a community, and the intention for it to be passed on from generation to generation represents a paradigm of those values that should be followed...

- Abstract

- Abstract

This article focuses on the differences between the communism in Yugoslavia and communism in the countries that were controlled by the Soviet Union in the 20th century. Several topics are discussed, such as how the regime of the Yugoslavian communist dictator Josip Broz Tito combined the Bolshevik political doctrine with direct democracy and socialism; how Tito's regime utilized anti-fascism, anti-Stalinism, and a peaceful foreign policy to become a more legitimate governing body; and how Tito's regime fought against bureaucracy while the politicians in the Soviet Union-controlled countries turned the bourgeoisie into the main enemy in their countries. Also mentioned is how the Yugoslavian social policy of self-governance helped to boost the country's industries in the 1970s.
