The article explores the implementation of the European Union (EU) Alternative Investment Fund Managers Directive (AIFMD) in the Netherlands. It highlights the changes made in the Dutch regulatory framework for investment funds as a result of the implementation of the directive. The two stages in the implementation of the AIFMD are discussed, which include the application of the harmonized passporting regime to non-EU AIFMs and the abolishment of the national regimes of member states of the EU.
