Proper respiratory tract protection is the key factor to limiting the rate of COVID-19 spread and providing a safe environment for health care workers. Traditional N95 (FFP2) respirators are not easy to regenerate and thus create certain financial and ecological burdens; moreover, their quality may vary significantly. A solution that would overcome these disadvantages is desirable. In this study a commercially available knit polyester fleece fabric was selected as the filter material, and a total of 25 filters of different areas and thicknesses were prepared. Then, the size-resolved filtration efficiency (40-400 nm) and pressure drop were evaluated at a volumetric flow rate of 95 L/min. We showed the excellent synergistic effect of expanding the filtration area and increasing the number of filtering layers on the filtration efficiency; a filter cartridge with 8 layers of knit polyester fabric with a surface area of 900 cm(2) and sized 25 x 14 x 8 cm achieved filtration efficiencies of 98% at 95 L/min and 99.5% at 30 L/min. The assembled filter kit consists of a filter cartridge (14 Pa) carried in a small backpack connected to a half mask with a total pressure drop of 84 Pa at 95 L/min. In addition, it is reusable, and the filter material can be regenerated at least ten times by simple methods, such as boiling. Prokázali jsme vynikající synergický efekt rozšíření filtrační plochy a zvýšení počtu filtračních vrstev na účinnost filtrace; filtrační patrona s 8 vrstvami pletené polyesterové tkaniny o ploše 900 cm(2) a rozměrech 25 x 14 x 8 cm dosáhla účinnosti filtrace 98 % při 95 l/min a 99,5 % při 30 l/min. Sestavená filtrační sada se skládá z filtrační patrony (14 Pa) nesené v malém batohu spojeném s polomaskou s celkovým tlakovým spádem 84 Pa při 95 l/min. Navíc je opakovaně použitelný a filtrační materiál lze jednoduchými metodami, jako je vaření, nejméně desetkrát regenerovat. The extremely high melting point of Mo, W and their sulfides acts as a barrier to the synthesis of chalcogenide glasses modified with these transition metal elements. Here, we demonstrate the preparation of amorphous thin films along the pseudobinary As40S60 MoS3 tie-line by spin-coating. Using 0.02 M stock solutions, the limiting As40S60 : MoS3 molar ratio was found to be 1 : 3 for the deposition of highly transparent, very smooth and compact defect-free amorphous thin films. The spectral analysis of optical constants revealed that both the refractive index and extinction coefficient decrease with increasing MoS3 content. On the other hand, the contribution of absorption tails was observed starting from the ratio 2 : 1 and they gradually become more intense and red-shifted with increasing MoS3. Using Raman and infrared spectroscopies (ATR), we confirmed that As40S60 and MoS3 reacted chemically in solution and all thin layers contained only residual amounts of organic ammonium salts after annealing at 200 degrees C. MoS2 is a prototypical two-dimensional van der Waals (vdW) solid, where covalently bonded S–Mo–S triplets are held together by weaker vdW forces. In this work, we have studied structural transformation from a three-dimensional amorphous phase of MoS2 into a layered vdW crystal using S L2;3 edge x-ray absorption near-edge structure (XANES) spectroscopy with in-plane and out-of-plane polarized x-ray beam. The crystallization process, which starts from an isotropic amorphous phase, is accompanied by the establishment of vdW interaction between covalently bonded layers, resulting in the anisotropic nature of the crystalline phase. We have disclosed that the preferential growth of MoS2 layers along the (200) Bragg reflection commences immediately from the amorphous phase with no intermediate crystal orientations. We have additionally identified a unique signature in the S L2;3 edge spectrum that is associated with vdW bonds and can be possibly used to determine sulfur-based single-layered and multi-layered transition metal dichalcogenides., MoS2 je typická dvourozměrná pevná látka s van der Waalsovou (vdW) vazbou, kde kovalentně vázané triplety S–Mo–S drží pohromadě slabší vdW síly. V této práci jsme studovali strukturní transformaci z trojrozměrné amorfní fáze MoS2 na vrstvený vdW krystal pomocí spektroskopie rentgenové absorpční struktury blízké hrany (XANES) při absorpční hraně S L2,3 s polarizovaným rentgenovým paprskem v rovině a mimo rovinu. Proces krystalizace, který začíná z izotropní amorfní fáze, je doprovázen ustavením interakce vdW mezi kovalentně vázanými vrstvami, což má za následek anizotropní povahu krystalické fáze. Zjistili jsme, že preferenční růst vrstev MoS2 podél (200) Braggova odrazu začíná okamžitě od amorfní fáze bez dalších krystalových orientací. Non-isothermal differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) was used to study the influences of particle size (d(aver)) and heating rate (q(+)) on the structural relaxation, crystal growth and decomposition kinetics of amorphous indomethacin. The structural relaxation and decomposition processes exhibited d(aver)-independent kinetics, with the q(+) dependences based on the apparent activation energies of 342 and 106 kJ center dot mol(-1), respectively. The DSC-measured crystal growth kinetics played a dominant role in the nucleation throughout the total macroscopic amorphous-to-crystalline transformation: the change from the zero-order to the autocatalytic mechanism with increasing q(+), the significant alteration of kinetics, with the storage below the glass transition temperature, and the accelerated crystallization due to mechanically induced defects. Whereas slow q(+) led to the formation of the thermodynamically stable gamma polymorph, fast q(+) produced a significant amount of the metastable alpha polymorph. Mutual correlations between the macroscopic and microscopic crystal growth processes, and between the viscous flow and structural relaxation motions, were discussed based on the values of the corresponding activation energies. Notably, this approach helped us to distinguish between particular crystal growth modes in the case of the powdered indomethacin materials. Ediger's decoupling parameter was used to quantify the relationship between the viscosity and crystal growth. The structural properties of two Ge-As-Se glass compositions (Ge10As10Se80 and Ge21As21Se58) are investigated from a combination of density-functional-based molecular dynamics simulations and neutron/x-ray scattering experiments. We first focus on structural characteristics, including structure factors, pair distribution functions, angular distributions, coordination numbers, and neighbor distributions, and compare our results with the experimental data. Results leave anticipated coordinations from the octet rule (Se-II, As-III, and Ge-IV) unchanged, and these are contrasted with respect to glasses having the same average coordination number (r) over bar such as binary As30Se70 and Ge33Se67. The increase of (As,Ge) content induces a growth of ring structures that are dominated by edge-sharing motifs (four-membered rings) having mostly heteropolar bonds, while As-As and As-Ge homopolar bonds are clearly more favored than Ge-Ge. These features signal that both topological (rings) and chemical (bonds) features are different with respect to related binaries. The validity of the so-called vibrational isocoordination rule stating that properties of multicomponent chalcogenides depend solely on (r) over bar is checked, and results from a vibrational analysis indicates that this rule is merely satisfied for the Se-rich composition. An inspection of correlations via the Bhatia-Thornton formalism shows that topological ordering is not only different between Ge10As10Se80 and Ge21As21Se58 but also radically contrasts with respect to the isocoordinated binary glasses and displays an obvious reduced directional bonding., Strukturní vlastnosti dvou složení skel Ge-As-Se (Ge10As10Se80 a Ge21As21Se58) jsou zkoumány kombinací simulací molekulární dynamiky na bázi DFT a experimentů rozptylu neutronů/rtg. Sputter-grown amorphous Mo-Te films were annealed to obtain the crystalline phase. Although as-deposited films exhibited an off-stoichiometric Te-rich composition, optimized annealing conditions enabled the elimination of excess Te by a preferential sublimation process. Owing to their similar local structure, the disordered amorphous phase first crystallized into a high temperature phase, 1T ', followed by a phase transition to the 2H structure upon further annealing. To realize 2D MoTe2-based novel devices, understanding the crystallization mechanism of amorphous Mo-Te films is critical. Furthermore, the robustness of the fabrication method, i.e., the establishment of a method to realize MoTe2 single-phase formation, which does not require the initial composition of the as-deposited amorphous film to be exactly stoichiometric, will greatly contribute to the deposition of large-area MoTe2 films essential for industrial applications., Amorfní tenké vrstvy Mo–Te připravené naprašováním byly žíhány k získání krystalická fáze. Amorphous Sb2Se3 thin films (200-1500 nm) deposited on Kapton foil were crystallized in controlled environment using the method of direct calorimetric measurement of thin films. X-ray diffraction was used to determine the intensity of the 1D (Sb4Sb6)n ribbons preferential orientation in dependence on the processing conditions: film thickness, energy flux during the pulsed laser deposition (PLD), heating rate, low and high temperature annealing. Lower PLD energy flux combined with higher deposited film thickness (1500 nm) led to increased orientation in the [2 2 1] direction, which is favorable for thin film solar cells application. Raman spectroscopy showed that thermally induced crystallization produces oxide-free Sb2Se3 thin films. Description of the crystallization kinetics led to very accurate kinetic predictions for the isothermal annealing conditions suitable for preparation of glass-ceramics with defined amount of crystalline phase - the predictions were accurate to ~10% of the true (experimentally determined) value., Amorfní tenký film Sb2Se3 na Kaptonové fólii byl krystalizován za kontrolovaných podmínek pomocí kalorimetru. The synthesis of stoichiometric two-dimensional (2D) transition-metal dichalcogenides (TMDC) over large areas remains challenging. Using a combination of X-ray diffraction and X-ray absorption spectroscopy, we demonstrate the advantages of using a thin amorphous layer of S-rich MoS2 (MoS4 in this paper) for the growth of well-ordered crystalline MoS2 films via annealing at 900 degrees C. In contrast to the crystallization of stoichiometric amorphous MoS2, the crystallization of the as-depo sited amorphous MoS4 phase shows the strong preferred ordering of layered MoS2 on a Si/SiOx nontemplating substrate with the dominant (002) crystallographic plane and accompanying Kiessig fringes, which indicate the improved crystallinity of the MoS2 layers. A similar effect can only be achieved by the templated crystallization of an amorphous MoS2 thin film deposited on a c-plane sapphire substrate. We suggest that the crystal growth improvement originates from the lower coordination number (CN) of the Mo atoms in the MoS4 amorphous phase (CN = 4) in comparison with that of amorphous MoS2 (CN = 6) and the gradual release of free sulfur atoms from the thin film during crystallization., Syntéza stechiometrických dvourozměrných (2D) dichalkogenidů přechodných kovů (TMDC) na velké plochy je stále výzvou. Crystal growth in 1 mu m Se90Te10 thin films deposited on a variety of substrates was studied by means of a novel combination of direct microscopic and calorimetric measurements. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) was used to explore the macroscopic manifestation of the crystal growth in as-deposited Se90Te10 thin films, revealing the native-like crystal growth behavior (very close to that of the bulk glass) in the films deposited on the polymeric foil. The optical microscopy determined the following sequence for the crystal growth rates u(r) in the thin films deposited on different substrates: u(r)(white glass) > u(r)(SiO2 glass) > > u(r)(Kapton). This finding is perfectly consistent with the calorimetric data, and can be explained by the combined influences of the Na+ ions migrating from the white glass substrate to the thin film/substrate interface, and by the compressive stresses arising from the large difference between the thermal expansion coefficients of Se90Te10 and the inorganic glasses. Conformation of the calorimetric and microscopic data was validated by the description of both datasets in terms of a single set of parametrized equations based on the combination of the temperature-resolved screw-dislocation growth model and the macroscopic nucleation-growth model. The novel approach to the crystal growth research in chalcogenide thin films was introduced, demonstrating its unprecedented accuracy, robustness and overall comprehension. All major aspects of this novel approach were discussed in detail, including the necessity to consider not only the substrate properties but also the associated process of structural relaxation that may significantly alter the crystal growth near glass transition. Trigonal selenium is a prototypical one-dimensional (1D) van der Waals (vdW) solid, where covalently bonded helical chains are held together by weaker vdW forces. In this work, we have studied structural transformation from a three-dimensional amorphous phase of non-interacting Se chains into a 1D vdW crystal using x-ray absorption spectroscopy. The crystallization process and establishment of vdW interaction are accompanied by elongation and weakening of covalent Se-Se bonds. We have found a unique signature in the x-ray absorption near-edge structure spectrum that is associated with vdW bonds and can be used to identify the formation of the latter. We believe that a similar approach can be used to study other 1D vdW solids, such as transition-metal trichalcogenides, and particularly stress the usefulness of x-ray absorption spectroscopy to identify vdW bonds., Trigonální selen je typická jednorozměrná (1D) van der Waalsova (vdW) pevná látka, kde jsou kovalentně vázané spirálové řetězce drženy pohromadě slabšími vdW silami. A newly developed unique combination of direct microscopic and calorimetric measurements was used to study the crystal growth in amorphous selenium (a-Se) thin films (500 nm) deposited on Kapton tape and aluminum foil. The crystal growth rates (u(r)) microscopically determined in the 65-110 degrees C temperature range were similar to those for bulk selenium glass. The crystal growth kinetics was described in terms of the screw dislocation model with implemented temperature dependences of the growth activation energy E-G and Ediger's decoupling parameter xi. Extensive analysis of the literature data on the crystal growth rates in thin selenium films revealed the dominant effect of the number and distribution of the dangling bonds of the [Se](n) chains adjacent to the film/substrate interface. The seemingly scattered u(r)-T literature data were found to be consistent when the influences of impurities, substrate quality, illumination, and deposition conditions were accounted for. The macroscopic manifestation of the crystal growth in selenium thin films was observed by means of differential scanning calorimetry (DSC)-the corresponding activation energies were similar to the E-G values determined by optical microscopy; the Avrami equation with the implemented u(r) - T dependence was able to accurately describe the macroscopic DSC data. The possibility of making lithographic masks based on As2S3 chalcogenide glass with ultimately small size of resist elements has been investigated. Interference lithography using synchrotron radiation with a wavelength of 13.4 nm, corresponding to extreme ultraviolet light, was used. High-quality masks with elements of 30 nm in size were obtained. In a dynamic light scattering study, resist particles of about 3 nm in size were found in the developer after the development process, which corresponds to the intermediate-range order parameter in the structure of the chalcogenide glass. Herein, hierarchical MoSe2/1D TiO2 nanotube layer structure was successfully fabricated in a simple and fast fashion and its photocatalytic and electrocatalytic properties were assessed. The novelty of this work lies in the utilization of Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) technique to deposit MoSe2 nanosheets on 1D TiO2 nanotube layers. The photoelectrochemical and photo- and electrocatalytic properties were explored and optimized as a function of the MoSe2ALD cycles. ALD allowed precise control on MoSe2 nanosheet size, and in turn, on the surface structure, which is pivotal for efficient catalysts. The MoSe2 nanosheets grew on both inner and outer 1D TiO2 nanotube surface mainly perpendicularly oriented, maximizing the exposed active edges, an essential aspect to fully exploit the MoSe2 photo- and electrochemical properties. Outstanding photo- and electrocatalytic activity were recorded in both dye organic pollutant degradation and hydrogen evolution reaction applications, respectively. The excellent photocatalytic and electrochemical activity stems from the synergy between tailored ALD loading of MoSe2 nanosheets on 1D TiO2 nanotubular structure with high surface/volume ratio, which provided fast electron transfer and easy access to the MoSe2 active edges, boosting the catalytic activity., V této práci jsme vytvořili hybridní strukturu MoSe2 nanodestiček na 1D TiO2 nanotrubicových vrstvách jednoduchým a rychlým způsobem. Novost naší práce spočívá ve využití techniky depozice atomárních vrstev (ALD) pro deponování MoSe2 nanodestiček na 1D TiO2 nanotrubicové vrstvy. U výsledných materiálů jsme zhodnotili výsledné fotokatalytické a elektrokatalytické vlastnosti v závislosti na počtu použitých depozičních ALD cyklů. ALD umožnilo velmi precizní kontrolu velikosti MoSe2 nanodestiček a také mělo vliv na na jejich povrchovou strukturu, která je klíčový pro výsledné vlastnosti. Tyto nanodestičky rostly jak uvnitř trubic, tak na jejich externím povrchu, kolmo orientované k trubicovým stěnám, což vedlo k maximálnímu možnému obnažení aktivních center na hranách nanodestiček. Velmi vysoké foto- a elektrokatalytické aktivity byly dosaženy pro rozklad modelových organických látek a pro vývoj vodíku, respektive. Tyto výkony pramení ze synergie mezi MoSe2 nanodestičkami a 1D TiO2 nanotrubicovými vrstvami s vysokým poměrem dostupného povrchu/objemu, což umožnilo velmi dobrý přenos elektronů a snadný přístup reaktantů k aktivním centrům MoSe2 nanodestiček.

This article reviews metastability in three different classes of chalcogenides-chalcogenide glasses, phase-change alloys, and transition-metal dichalcogenides-with the focus on the relationship between structural metastability and the nature of chemical bonding. While the presence of lone-pair electrons in chalcogenide glasses enables a variety of bond switching processes, the existence of resonant (metavalent) bonding in phase-change alloys is key to the transformation between the crystalline and amorphous states. Strong covalent bonds in 2D transition-metal dichalcogenides limit the transformation to slides and buckling of atomic planes without major bond rupture. It is proposed that combining different kinds of local bonding may be an efficient way to engineer amorphous chalcogenides with desired properties., Tento článek hodnotí metastabilitu ve třech různých třídách chalkogenidů - chalkogenidových skel, slitin s fázovými změnami a dichalkogenidů přechodných kovů - se zaměřením na vztah mezi strukturní metastabilitou a povahou chemické vazby. Zatímco přítomnost volných elektronových párů v chalkogenidových sklech umožňuje řadu procesů přepínání vazeb, existence rezonanční (metavalentní) vazby ve slitinách s rychlou fázovou přeměnou je klíčovým faktorem k transformaci mezi krystalickým a amorfním stavem. Silné kovalentní vazby ve 2D dichalkogenidech přechodných kovů omezují transformaci mezi rovnými a “cik-cak” atomovými rovinami bez většího prasknutí vazeb. Navrhujeme, že kombinace různých druhů lokálních vazeb může být účinným způsobem, jak připravit amorfní chalkogenidy s požadovanými vlastnostmi.

TiO2 nanotube layers of different thicknesses and tube wall morphologies exploited. Single-wall nanotubes were obtained by chemical etching of double-wall ones. Photocurrents, structure, optical and electronic properties of tubes were compared.

In this study, crystallization of amorphous TiO(2)nanotube (TNT) layers upon optimized laser annealing is shown. The resulting anatase TNT layers do not show any signs of deformation or melting. The crystallinity of the laser annealed TNT layers was investigated using X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM). The study of the (photo-)electrochemical properties showed that the laser annealed TNT layers were more defective than conventional TNT layers annealed in a muffle oven at 400 degrees C, resulting in a higher charge recombination rate and lower photocurrent response. However, a lower overpotential for hydrogen evolution reaction was observed for the laser annealed TNT layer compared to the oven annealed TNT layer.

The continuous emission of nitrous oxides contributes to the overall air pollution and deterioration of air quality. In particular, an effective NO2 sensor capable of low concentration detection for continuous monitoring is demanded for safety, health, and wellbeing. The sensing performance of a metal oxide based sensor is predominantly influenced by the availability of surface area for O2 adsorption and desorption, efficient charge transport and size or thickness of the sensing layer. In this study, we utilized anodic one-dimensional (1D) TiO2 nanotube layers of 5 µm thick which offer large surface area and unidirectional electron transport pathway as a platform to accommodate thin SnO2 coatings as a sensing layer. Conformal and homogeneous SnO2 coatings across the entire inner and outer TiO2 nanotubes were achieved by atomic layer deposition with controlled thickness of 4, 8 and 16 nm. The SnO2 coated TiO2 nanotube layers attained a higher sensing response than a reference Figaro SnO2 sensor. Specifically, the 8 nm SnO2 coated TiO2 nanotube layer has recorded up to ten-fold enhancement in response as compared to the blank nanotubes for the detection of 1 ppm NO2 at the operating temperature of 300 oC with 0.5 V applied bias. This is attributed to the SnO2/TiO2 heterojunction effect and controlled SnO2 thickness within the range of the Debye length. We demonstrated in this work, a tailored large surface area platform based on 1D nanotubes with thin active coatings as an efficient approach for sensing applications and beyond.

Atomic layer deposition (ALD) represents a unique deposition technique that allows to coat uniformly var-ious high aspect ratio (HAR) porous nanostructures, in addition to its traditional role to coat flat substrates(e.g. Si wafers). Self-organized anodic TiO2nanotube (TNT) layers belong among the most investigatedinorganic nanostructures. They possess highly functional materials with promising application potentialacross many technological fields. Herein, we review the utilization of ALD for the functionalization ofanodic TNT layers by secondary materials to advance their physicochemical and photoelectrochemicalproperties. First, the application of ALD for functionalization of porous aluminium oxide, which representfundamental HAR nanostructure, is briefly introduced. Then the main experimental parameters govern-ing the uniformity and the conformality of ALD coating within HAR nanostructures are discussed. Finally,the review focuses on the use of ALD to deposit secondary materials into TNT layers for various purposes— the introduction of pioneering studies is followed by particular examples of ALD based functional-izations of coated TNT layers for optimized visible-light absorption, charge separation and passivation,(photo)catalysis, stability, gas sensing, and energy storage., Depozice Atomárních vrstvev (ALD) je unikátní depoziční technika, jenž umožňuje pokrýt rovnoměrně různé porézní nanostruktury s vysokým poměřem stran (tloušťka vs průměr), kromě své tradiční role pro pokrývání rovných substrátů (např. Si waferů). Samoorganizované vrstvy anodických TiO2 nanotrubic (TNT) patří mezi nejstudovanější anorganické nanostruktury. Představují velmi funkční materiál s mnoha aplikačními příležitostmi v různých technologických oborech. V tomto přehledovém článku shrnujeme využití ALD pro funkcionalizaci anodických TNT různými sekundárními materiály s cílem ještě více lepšit jejich celkové fyzikálně-chemické a fotoelektrochemické vlastnosti. V první kapitole popisujeme využití ALD pro funkcinalizaci porezního oxidu hlinitého, což je základní porézní materiál a historicky předchází TNT. V druhé kapitole jsou diskutovány hlavní experimentální parametry techniky ALD, které ovlivňují rovnoměřnost a homogenitu ALD vrstev v jednodimenzionálních strukturách s vysokým poměřem stran. V hlavní části poskytujeme přehled využití různých ALD vrstev na TNT pro různé účely. Po představení pionýrských prací v relevantním oboru uvádíme různé příklady funkcionalizací, které mají zásadní vliv na absorpci viditelného světla do trubic, rozdělění náboje, pasivaci defektů, fotokatalýzu, stabilitu, citlivost na plyny a ukládání energie.

In this work, we clearly demonstrate the efficacy of using XANES spectroscopy in conjunction with a Pilatus detector as a sensitive tool to allow the study of the oxidation process in GeTe alloys via depth profile analysis. On the basis of Ge K-edge XANES spectra, it was found that GeTe alloys do not oxidize readily after an initial native surface oxidation that occurs upon exposure to oxygen in the air at the elevated temperatures, 100 degrees C and 330 degrees C. We demonstrate that amorphous GeTe possesses a higher predisposition to oxidation than crystalline GeTe when exposed to the air at temperature of 100 degrees C. When the temperature is set to 330 degrees C in an air ambient, we show that the amorphous to crystal phase transition affects the oxidation process more significantly than the simple annealing of crystalline GeTe. We suggest that the higher tendency of GeTe films to oxidize during the phase transition is a consequence of the breaking of Ge-Ge bonds in the presence of oxygen atoms which subsequently leads to the extra formation of Ge-O bonds during crystallization., V této práci demonstrujeme účinnost použití XANES spektroskopie ve spojení s Pilatus detektorem jako citlivý nástroj umožňující studium oxidačního procesu ve slitinách GeTe pomocí analýzy hloubkového profilu. Na základě XANES spektra při absorpční hraně Ge K-hladiny bylo zjištěno, že slitiny GeTe neoxidují snadno po počáteční přirozené oxidaci povrchu, ke které dochází při vystavení atmosférickému kyslíku za zvýšených teplot, 100 ° C a 330 ° C. Ukázali jsme, že amorfní GeTe má vyšší predispozici k oxidaci než krystalická fáze GeTe na vzduchu při teplotě 100 ° C. Při teplotě 330 ° C na vzduchu, ukazujeme, že amorfní přechod na krystalovou fázi ovlivňuje oxidační proces výrazněji než samotné žíhání krystalické fáze GeTe. Navrhujeme, že vyšší tendence vrstev GeTe oxidovat během fázového přechodu je důsledkem přerušení vazeb Ge-Ge v přítomnosti atomů kyslíku, což následně vede k další tvorbě vazeb Ge-O během krystalizace.

One-dimensional TiO2 nanotube layers with different dimensions were homogeneously decorated with 2D MoS2 nanosheets via atomic layer deposition and employed for liquid and gas phase photocatalysis. The 2D MoS2 nanosheets revealed a high amount of exposed active edge sites and strongly enhanced the photocatalytic performance of TiO2 nanotube layers., Jednodimenzionální (1D) vrstvy nanotrubic TiO2 s různými rozměry byly homogenně dekorovány dvojdimenzionálními (2D) MoS2 nanovrstvami technikou depozice atomárních vrstev. Následně byly tyto vzorky využity pro fotokatalytické experimenty v kapalné a plynné fázi. 2D nanovrstvy MoS2 díky značnému množství exponovaných aktivních okrajových míst významně přispěly k celkovému fotokatalytickému výkonu dekorovaných vzorků.

Two-dimensional MoS2 nanostructures are highly interesting and effective in a number of energy-related applications. In this work, the synthesis of ultra-thin MoS2 nanosheets produced by the thermal Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) process is reported for the first time using a previously unpublished set of precursors, namely bis(t-butylimido)bis(dimethylamino)molybdenum and hydrogen sulfide. These nanosheets are homogenously deposited within one-dimensional anodic TiO2 nanotube layers that act as a high surface area conductive support for the MoS2 nanosheets. The decoration of high aspect ratio TiO2 nanotube layers with MoS2 nanosheets over the entire nanotube layer thickness is shown for the first time. The homogeneous distribution of the MoS2 nanosheets is proved by STEM/EDX. This resulting new composite is employed as anode for Li-ion microbatteries. The MoS2-decorated TiO2 nanotube layers show a superior performance compared to their counterparts without MoS2. Compared to electrochemical performance of pristine TiO2 nanotube, a more than 50% higher areal capacity and a coulombic efficiency of 98% are obtained on the MoS2 decorated TiO2 nanotube layers, demonstrating clear synergic benefits of the new composite structure., Dvojdimenzionální MoS2 nanostruktury jsou velmi efektivní a zajimavé v řade energeticky zaměřených aplikací. V této práci popisujeme syntézu ultratenkých MoS2 nanovrstev pomocí termální depozice atomárních vrstev (ALD) s využitím doposud nepopsané kombinace prekursorů, jmenovitě bis(t-butylimido)bis(dimethylamino)molybdenum a sulfanu. Tyto nanovrstvy byly připraveny na jednodimenzionálních vrstvách TiO2 nanotrubic, které figurují jako vysoce porézní a vodivá matrice pro MoS2 nanovrstvy. Pomocí analýzy skenovací transmisní elektronovou mikroskopií v kombinaci s energiově disperzní rentgenovou spektroskopií (STEM/EDX) dokládáme homogenní pokrytí nanovrstev MoS2 ve vrstvách TiO2 nanotrubic. akto vytvořené komposity jsou popsány poprvé v tomto článku a jsou také poprvé využiti jako anody v lithiových mikrobateriích. Vrstvy nanotrubic dekorované MoS2 nanovrstvami vykazují až o 50% vyšší plošnou kapacitu než samotné trubice. Bylo také dosaženo vysoké kolumbické účinnosti (až 98%) při nabíjení a vybíjení, což je vynikající výsledek, který jasně demonstruje synergické benefity tohoto nového kompositu.
