Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of hypertension health school program performed in a public health center located in Y-si. Most interesting were the effects on hypertension-related knowledge, self-efficacy, self-care behavior and physiological parameters for hypertensive patients. Methods: Nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design was employed. 45 patients with hypertension living in Y-si were assigned into an experimental group (n=23) or a control group (n=22). The purpose of this study is to explore degree of childcare teacher’s teacher efficacy and the factors influencing of self-esteem and job stress on teacher efficacy of those surveyed. A total of 280 childcare teacher in G do were surveyed. All of this data is analyzed by using t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients, multiple regression analysis with SPSS WIN/18.0. Teacher Efficacy according to general characteristics of those surveyed revealed significant difference in age, work experience, position, class age, and child parenting experience. Regression analysis showed 11.7% of variance in childcare teacher’s teacher efficacy can by experience of dating with self-esteem and job stress. The fallow-up survey about various factors influencing childcare teacher’s teacher efficacy is needed and teacher efficacy increasing mediation way are required. 본 연구는 노인의 지각된 건강상태, 통증, 수면양상과 삶의 질의 인과관계를 파악하여 삶의 질 예측모형을 구축하고 자 하였다. 일개 시 복지관 이용 노인과 방문건강관리 대상 노인 276명을 대상으로 2013년 9월부터 10월까지 구조화된 질문 지로 지각된 건강상태, 통증, 수면양상, 삶의 질을 측정하였고 PASW와 AMOS로 분석하였다. 지각된 건강상태, 통증, 수면양 상이 노인의 삶의 질을 예측하는 경로모형은 적합도가 높은 것으로 나타났다(χ2/DF=1.393, p=.077, GFI=.971, TLI=.983, CFI=.989, RMSEA=.038). 노인의 지각된 건강상태(.169), 통증(.322), 수면양상(.214)은 삶의 질에 직접효과가 있었고, 지각된 건강상태는 통증(.374)에, 통증은 수면양상(.193)에 직접효과가 있었다. 또한 지각된 건강상태와 통증은 삶의 질에 간접효과가 있었다. 따라서 노인의 지각된 건강상태가 부정적일수록 통증과 수면양상이 나빠지고 삶의 질이 저하됨을 예측할 수 있으므 로 통증, 수면 관련 중재 시 노인 자신의 건강상태에 대한 지각정도 파악이 선행되어야 하고 중재적용이 함께 이루어져야 할 것이다.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of self-help management program on knowledge about stroke, self-efficacy, self-esteem and family support in people with stroke. Methods: With a quasi-experimental design, 44 persons with stroke were assigned into an experimental group (n=21) or a control group (n=23). The knowledge about stroke, self-efficacy and self-esteem were measured at both before and after the self-help management program. Date were analyzed with SPSS/WIN using descriptive statistics, t-test, and x 2 -test. Results: There was a significant increase in knowledge about stroke, self-efficacy and self-esteem in the experimental group. Conclusion: Self-help management program can be an effective nursing intervention to improve the knowledge about stroke, self-efficacy and self-esteem for patients with stroke.

Purpose: This study was to examine the effect of perceived health status, sleep and depression on quality of life of older people in the elderly school. Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted with a survey of 155 older persons in person 2 elderly school at J City. The data were analyzed with t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and multiple regression using SPSS WIN 18.0 program. Results: The mean score of the quality of life was 8.10 (SD=8.79). Quality of life was significantly different by educational levels (F=4.711, p =.001). The result of the regression indicated that perceived health status, sleep, and depression explained 18.5% of variance in quality of life. Conclusion: Perceived health status, sleep and depression were associated with quality of life in the elderly. It is necessary to develop nursing strategies for the improvement of quality of life, considering health status, sleep, and depression in the elderly. Purpose: This study compared postpartum depression and parental self-efficacy between married immigrant women from Vietnam and native Korean mothers. Method: The participants were 72 native Korean mothers and 69 immigrant Vietnamese mothers living in a suburban city in South Korea. The instruments used were the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale and the Parent Expectation Survey. Results: There were statistically significant differences in age, education, employment, income, husband’s age, and family structure between the two groups. Immigrant Vietnamese mothers experienced higher levels of postpartum depression ( t = −3.466, p = .001) and had lower parental self-efficacy ( t = 5.607, p < .001) than native Korea mothers. Postpartum depression was negatively correlated with parental self-efficacy in native Korean mothers ( r = −.349, p = .003), but there was no significant correlation in the immigrant Vietnamese mothers ( r = .011, p = .936). The mothers’ country of origin, whether immigrant or Korean, was a significant factor in postpartum depression (β = .338, p = .040; R2 = .091). The mothers’ country of origin had no effect on parental self-efficacy ( p = .957). Instead, significant differences were found for the age, education level, and family structure of the participant ( R2 = .036). Conclusions: The results of this study demonstrated that postpartum depression was more prevalent among married immigrant women from Vietnam than among native Korean mothers. Accordingly, a postpartum depression intervention program for married immigrant women should be developed and implemented.

PURPOSE The purpose of this study was to describe the essence of the experiences of patients in an ICU, and to understand them from the patients' point of view. METHODS Participants in this study were six patients in P hospital. Data collection consisted of in-depth interviews and an observation method done from January to April in 2005. The method was analysis using the phenomenological method proposed by Colaizzi(1978). RESULTS The themes were classified into eight theme clusters. The eight theme clusters were finally grouped into four categories, 'shock', 'pain', 'gratefulness' and 'pleasure of revival'. CONCLUSION The ICU patients had negative experiences in physical.mental critical situations, but also positive experiences in consolation and nurses and families' encouragement. Therefore, ICU nurses must support patients and their families to minimize the negative experiences and maximize the positive experiences.

PURPOSE The purpose of this study was to understand the experiences of mental health hospital workers. METHODS Participants in the study were a total of 8 mental health hospital workers who consisted of nurses, social welfare workers and health managers. To prevent them from being omitted, the interviews were all recorded under the participants prior agreement. The method was analysis using the phenomenological method proposed by Colaizzi(1978). RESULTS The experiences of the participants of this study were classified into 15 significant areas, from which 10 subjects hard work, conflicts, heavy feeling, irritability, getting familiar, changes of recognition, aptitude determination, feeling of achievement and sense of pride were drawn out. These subjects were then grouped into 5 themes. These five themes were finally grouped into 5 categories, negative emotion, depressive emotion, changes of thinking, delight and value discovery. CONCLUSIONS The study tried to analyze the experiences of key informants like nurses, social welfare workers and health managers all of whom were serving at mental health hospitals, contribute to social recognition about the special medical establishment, promote qualitative mental health nursing and further provide educational information necessary for understanding mental health hospital workers.

Conclusion: The self-help management program can be an effective nursing intervention to help stroke patients improve their self-efficacy, self-esteem, knowledge of stroke and family supports. That program is also meaningful in that it can contribute to more effective implementation of established programs for stroke patients in public health centers.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of aquatic exercise on pain, fatigue, body composition, physical fitness and psychological variables in women with arthritis. Method: With a quasi-experimental design, 37 women who had arthritis were assigned into an experimental group (n=19) or a control group (n=18). Aquatic exercise consisted of one hour of exercise in water, two days per week, for six weeks and a self-help process. Measures included physiologic and psychological variables before and after the exercise. Data was analyzed with the SPSS WIN using descriptive statistics, t-test, and ANCOVA. Result: The mean age of the subjects was 59 years in the experimental group and 52 years in the control group. Pretest scores in outcome variables were similar in both groups except BMI and body fat(%).
