Theasymmetric unit of the title salt, C19H17N2S+·Cl−·0.75H2O, contains two symmetrically independent formula units of the carbenium salt along with three water molecules. The water molecules are only 50% occupated, and one of them is positioned in a hydrophobic pocket not forming any hydrogen bonds. The conformation of the independent cations is very similar, with dihedral angles of 61.0 (2) and 61.5 (3)° between the benzene rings. They form quasi-centrosymmetric couples via π–π stacking interactions between the benzene and imidazo[2,1-b]thiazole rings [centroid–centroid distances = 3.718 (3) and 3.663 (3) Å]. In the crystal, O—H...Cl hydrogen bonds lead to the formation of a helical anion–water chain along the c-axis direction. The cations connect to the anion–water chain through C—H...Cl interactions, generating a three-dimensional supramolecular network. O—H...S hydrogen bonds and C—H...O interactions also occur.

Herbivore-induced terpenes have been reported to function as ecological signals in plant-insect interactions. Here, we showed that insect-induced cotton volatile blends contained 16 terpenoid compounds with a relatively high level of linalool. The high diversity of terpene production is derived from a large terpene synthase (TPS) gene family. The TPS gene family of Gossypium hirsutum and Gossypium raimondii consist of 46 and 41 members, respectively. Twelve TPS genes ( GhTPS4-15) could be isolated, and protein expression in Escherichia coli revealed catalytic activity for eight GhTPS. The upregulation of the majority of these eight genes additionally supports the function of these genes in herbivore-induced volatile biosynthesis. Furthermore, transgenic Nicotiana tabacum plants overexpressing GhTPS12 were generated, which produced relatively large amounts of (3 S)-linalool. In choice tests, female adults of Helicoverpa armigera laid fewer eggs on transgenic plants compared with non-transformed controls. Meanwhile, Myzus persicae preferred feeding on wild-type leaves over leaves of transgenic plants. Our findings demonstrate that transcript accumulation of multiple TPS genes is mainly responsible for the production and diversity of herbivore-induced volatile terpenes in cotton. Reactions of 3(5)-methyl-5(3)-phenyl-1 H-1,2,4-triazole (3-Me-5-Ph-tzH) with AgNO in the absence/presence of NH yield a mononuclear [Ag(3-Me-5-Ph-tzH)]NO·3HO ( 1) and a polymeric [Ag(3-Me-5-Ph-tz)] ( 2), respectively. Two structurally different infinite chains, however, with the same formula of AgCHN-one is double-decked and the other single zigzag-coexist in 1:1 ratio in the crystal of 2. As far as we know, 2 is the first binary silver(I) complex based on an asymmetric triazole and represents a rare case of two supramolecular isomers coexisting in the same crystal. A new ligand, 4‐(N‐salicylaldehyde Schiff base) benzeneformylhydrazone‐N′‐salicylaldehyde (H3L), and a new quaternary complex 1, [Ni(sphs)(iz)] · EtOH (sphs=H3L, iz=imidazole), has been designed and synthesized. The structural unit of complex 1 consists of the following groups: one Ni(II), one molecular H3L, one imidazole and one ethanol. It belongs to the orthorhombic system and has a Pbca space group. One deprotonated oxygen in enol‐form, one deprotonated oxygen of hydroxyl and one nitrogen of metheleneimine for H3L and one nitrogen atom of imidazole coordinated to central Ni with two oxygen and two nitrogen in anti‐form, respectively, constructed distorted square geometry, an ethanol existed in crystal lattice. The semirigid bipyrazolyl and tripyrazolyl ligands, namely 1,4-bis((3,5-diphenyl-1H-pyrazol-4-yl)-methyl)benzene (H2L1) and 1,3,5-tris((3,5-diphenyl-1H-pyrazol-4-yl)methyl)benzene (H3L2), and their Cu(I) complexes (Cu2L1)n (1), Cu4(HL2)2 (2) have been prepared and structurally characterized. Single-crystal X-ray analysis demonstrates that 1 exhibits a 2D structure featuring cyclic trinuclear Cu3pz3 subunits. Two novel DNA-intercalating ruthenium(l I) complexes, [Ru(bpy)2- (PlPSH)]2+ and [Ru(bpy)2(PlPNH))2+, have been synthesized and characterized. Gel retardation assay, atomic force microscopy, and dynamic light scattering studies show that both complexes can induce the condensation of originally circular plasmid pBR322 DNA to particulate structures under neutral conditions. A novel three-component Pd/norbornene cooperative catalysis cascade decarboxylative [2+2+2]/[2+2+3]cyclization of 4-iodoisoquinolin-1(2 H )-ones and o -bromobenzoic acids or 8-bromo-1-naphthoic acid has been developed. The method affords a range of fused phenanthridinones and hepta[1,2- c ]isoquinolinones and displays unique regioselectivity and broad substrate scope. Palladium/norbornene (Pd/NBE)-catalyzed C-H activation and subsequent decarboxylative coupling reactions were involved, and NBE acts as a building block for the construction of rigid nonplanar molecular architectures.

In the title compound, C9H9NO3·H2O, the plane of the acetamide group is oriented at 20.52 (8)° with respect to the benzene ring, whereas the plane of the carb-oxy-lic acid group is essentially coplanar with the benzene ring [maximum deviation = 0.033 (1) Å]. In the crystal, classical O-H⋯O and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and weak C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the organic mol-ecules and water mol-ecules of crystallization into a three-dimensional supra-molecular architecture.

In the title complex, [Co(C15H6ClO4)2(H2O)4]·2H2O, the Co(II) ion is bound by two carboxylate O atoms of two 5-chloro-9,10-anthra-quinone-1-carboxyl-ate anions and four water O atoms in a trans conformation, forming an irregular octa-hedral coordination geometry. This arrangement is stabilized by intra-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds between water and carboxyl-ate. Further O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds between coordinating and non-coordinating water and carboxyl-ate produce layers of mol-ecules that extend parallel to (001). The organic ligands project above and below the plane. Those ligands of adjacent planes are inter-digitated and there are π-π inter-actions between them with centroid-centroid distances of 3.552 (2) and 3.767 (2) Å that generate a three-dimensional supra-molecular structure.
