Abstract

As a high-value agricultural product, the cold chain logistics management of Gannan navel oranges has global significance. Especially in Africa and Europe, food safety and supply chain quality are critical issues. However, the existing Gannan navel orange logistics information management system relies on traditional databases and information systems, with insufficient data sharing and transparency, affecting the overall coordination of the supply chain and customer satisfaction. In addition, the traditional system is vulnerable to hacker attacks and malicious tampering of data by insiders, resulting in serious economic losses and reputation damage. So the blockchain platform constructed in this study improves the transparency and traceability of logistics data through the SMART-PBFT algorithm of the alliance chain, which optimizes the logistics management process, improves the quality of logistics services, and reduces operating costs. It improves the logistics efficiency and data transparency of local agricultural products, and also provides a demonstrative case for the cold chain management of other high-value agricultural products around the world, with broad application potential and reference value. Abstract

One of the key parameters of a country's socio-economic achievement is the construction of roads and highways. The technology for road construction has always been improved particularly in terms of quality and environmental aspects, for which the idea of using plastic emerged recently. Plastic roads are an auspicious strategy for lowering the quantity of land filled plastic, minimizing the dependency on depleted bituminous materials, and enhancing asphalt pavement performance. Assessing the environmental and human health aspects of the modified asphalt mixtures estimates the safety level of the product when exposed to the ecosystem. The objective of this study is to assess the preliminary environmental and human health hazards of our polypropylene (PP), high-density polyethylene (HDPE), and low-density polyethylene (LDPE) microplastics modified asphalt mixtures using fluorescence microscopy technique and polymer risk index. The mixtures were prepared by wet mixing the asphalt binder with different proportions of powdered microplastic polymers. The asphalt mixture that contained 100% HDPE had the highest crystal formation. Combining at least 5g of PP, reduced the risk index of the asphalt mixture. All the plastic polymers used in our study are ranked as the least environmentally hazardous chemicals. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Aggregate composition has a pivotal role in ensuring the quality of pavement materials. The use of waste materials to replace the aggregate composition of asphalt pavement leads to green, sustainable, and environmentally friendly construction, which ultimately preserves nature by reducing the need to harvest materials from natural sources. Using the Marshall mix design, the main objective of this paper is to investigate the effects of waste palm oil clinker (POC) as fine aggregates replacement on the properties of stone mastic asphalt (SMA) mixture. Six groups of asphalt mixtures were prepared using different percentages of palm oil clinker content (0%, 20%, 40%, 60%, 80%, and 100%). To determine the Marshall properties and select the optimum binder content, asphalt mixture samples with different percentages of asphalt binder content (5.0%, 5.5%, 6.0%, 6.5%, and 7.0%) were prepared for each group. The results showed that the palm oil clinker was appropriate for use as a fine aggregate replacement up to 100% in SMA mixture and could satisfy the mix design requirements in terms of Marshall stability, flow, quotient, and volumetric properties. However, the percentage of palm oil clinker replacement as fine aggregate has merely influenced the optimum binder content. Furthermore, there were improvements in the drain down, resilient modulus and indirect tensile fatigue performances of the SMA mixture. In conclusion, the use of POC as fine aggregates replacement in SMA mixture indicates a good potential to be commercialized in flexible pavement construction.

Abstract

Roller-compacted concrete pavement (RCCP), named from a construction method, is a drier mix-stiff enough to be compacted by a vibratory roller. RCCP's fresh and hardened properties are considerably influenced by a mix water. The maximum density method, having optimum moisture content at maximum dry density, is most commonly used for the mix proportioning of RCCP. In this study, engineering properties of RCCP at different moisture contents of 4.5%, 5%, 5.5%, 6%, 6.5%, 7% and 12% cement were investigated. Test results showed that an increase of moisture content from 4.5% to 7% decreases the Vebe time from 45 to 22 s. The RCCP at 5.7% moisture content had the maximum dry density, while best mechanical performance, lowest porosity and water absorption values were obtained at 5% moisture content. This study concluded that a workable, high strength and durable RCCP can be made with a moisture content less than the optimum moisture content, which is corresponding to the maximum dry density.
