The current literature on response times and associated factors in Indonesian emergency departments (EDs) is extensive yet lacks comprehensive national and regional analysis.Objective: This study aimed to synthesize existing research on emergency nurse response times in Indonesian hospital settings and identify the factors influencing these times.Methods: This study was guided by the PRISMA-ScR framework. This study systematically searched the PubMed/MEDLINE, CENTRAL/Cochrane, EBSCOhost, and Google Scholar databases for studies published between 2019 and 2024. The included studies focused on empirical measurements of response times, defined as the time from patient arrival to initial treatment, with a particular interest in examining variations across different hospital levels and regions within Indonesia. A thematic analysis was conducted in this study.Results: The review included data from 1628 nurses across 13 provinces, highlighting significant variability in response times. Tertiary hospitals generally show faster response times than secondary hospitals. Key factors influencing response times included the demographic aspects of the nursing staff, work environment conditions, and the level of nurse training and education. Specific barriers such as inadequate infrastructure and cultural differences in healthcare-seeking behaviors also play a role.Conclusion: There is a critical need for targeted improvements in hospital infrastructure and staff training programs to enhance response times across all hospital levels in Indonesia. Various studies have identified factors that influence the occurrence of DE in patients after cardiac surgery, but no review has systematically synthesized the results.Purpose: This review aimed to identify the influencing factors and the leading causes of DE in patients after cardiac surgery.Methods: This scoping review uses the framework developed by Arksey and O’Malley (2005). Literature was searched through four databases: PubMed, Scopus, Science Direct, and CINAHL, and two search engines, Sage and Google Scholar, accessed on October 20, 2024. The articles analyzed met the inclusion criteria, such as full-text articles in English, published from 2014– 2024, with case-control, cross-sectional, longitudinal, and cohort study designs and had good quality as assessed using the Joanna Briggs Institute critical appraisal checklist. Data was synthesized using thematic analysis.Results: Eight articles with a total of 13801 participants were included in this review. The prevalence of DE after cardiac surgery ranged from 13.6% to 91.9%. The factors affecting DE were categorized into preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative. The factors most commonly reported to influence ED include preoperative factors (age ≥ 60 and EF < 50%), intraoperative factors (duration of surgery ≥ 7 hours, use of IABP and sedatives), and postoperative factors (BNP≥ 806 pg/mL). The leading causes of DE after cardiac surgery are hemodynamic instability requiring increased inotropes (33.51%), reduced level of consciousness or drowsiness (31.91%), and postoperative bleeding (20.74%).Conclusion: The process of extubation is a crucial phase in postoperative care. By comprehending the elements that impact DE, healthcare providers can effectively allocate medical resources to enhance the success of weaning, extubation, and recovery following cardiac surgery. Consequently, further research focusing on DE is essential, particularly in patients who have undergone cardiac surgery.Keywords: cardiac surgery, delayed extubation, mechanical ventilation

These complications increase the length of stay and hospital costs. Several studies have determined cold compress therapy’s effectiveness in preventing hematomas and reducing pain in patients after cardiac catheterization. However, to date, no review study has synthesized this comprehensively.Purpose: This review aimed to explores the potential of cold compress therapy as a strategy for preventing hematoma and alleviating pain in post-cardiac catheterization patients.Methods: Systematic review was reported based on the PRISMA Extension. A literature search used relevant keywords from six primary databases, such as CINAH Medline Plus, PubMed, ScienceDirect, Scopus, Taylor and Francis, and one search engine, Google Scholar. The quality of evidence was assessed using the Joanna Briggs Institute critical appraisal checklist and Risk of Bias. Data synthesis was used thematically with an explorative, descriptive approach.Results: This review found and analyzed twelve articles. Based on the results of the analysis, cold compress therapy for 15 to 20 minutes can potentially prevent hematomas and reduce pain in patients after cardiac catheterization.Conclusion: This review concludes that cold compress therapy can potentially prevent hematomas and reduce pain in this population. Health workers, especially nurses, can consider cold compress therapy as a strategy in the nursing care program for patients after cardiac catheterization.Keywords: cardiac catheterization, cold compress, coronary heart disease, hematoma, pain

Background: Adolescent populations face reproductive health challenges. Persisting gaps in Triad Adolescent Reproductive Health (ARH) comprehension and risky behaviors emphasize the necessity of integrating social media apps into health education to address Triad ARH risks among youths. Teenagers commonly use WhatsApp and LINE for social media communication, and determining the effectiveness of these two apps is scarce., Objective: This quasi-experimental study aimed to investigate and compare the impacts of educational interventions delivered through WhatsApp and LINE platforms on enhancing the knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors of adolescents concerning the Triad ARH., Methods: A total of 154 senior high school students were randomly recruited from two public schools in Bandung Regency, West Java, Indonesia. These students were divided into two groups: Group A, consisting of 78 students who received material messages using LINE, and Group B, consisting of 76 students who received material messages using WhatsApp. Participants completed a pre-test prior to the intervention and a post-test one month after the intervention. Data were collected using validated questionnaires and analyzed using Chi-square and Wilcoxon tests., Results: In the LINE group, there was an average increase in knowledge from 15.68 to 20.21, attitudes from 29.05 to 59.12, and behavior from 55.95 to 64.81 before and after the intervention period ( p = 0.001). In the WhatsApp group, there was an increase in knowledge from 15.16 to 19.67, in attitudes from 34.71 to 59.54, and behavior from 54.75 to 65.97 before and after the intervention period ( p = 0.001). Further analysis showed no significant difference between the LINE and WhatsApp groups in increasing the average level of knowledge ( p = 0.973), attitude ( p = 0.682), and behavior ( p = 0.067) before and after the intervention. However, it was observed that the increase in knowledge and attitude was slightly higher in the LINE group, while the increase in behavior was slightly higher in the WhatsApp group., Conclusion: This study demonstrates that educational interventions using LINE and WhatsApp both increased the knowledge, attitudes, and behavior of adolescents related to the Triad ARH. This finding is valuable, considering the popularity of LINE and WhatsApp as mobile applications. Background: Child sexual abuse (CSA) has emerged as a global concern, particularly affecting children in Indonesia. However, there remains a scarcity of research on CSA within the Indonesian context. Objective: This study aimed to explore the educational needs of primary school teachers in preventing child sexual abuse., Methods: A qualitative descriptive study design was employed, with eight teachers and school principals selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through focus group discussions and analyzed using content analysis., Results: Six categories emerged: 1) The risk of sexual abuse, 2) The necessity for clear CSA preventive regulations and sanctions for abusers, 3) Lack of CSA program socialization, 4) The need for structured CSA prevention education for children, 5) The importance of effective coordination with various relevant stakeholders, and 6) The presence of barriers and obstacles., Conclusion: This study provides valuable insights into the educational prerequisites for teachers to implement CSA prevention measures effectively. The findings emphasize the pressing need for school teachers to develop and implement CSA prevention programs, with the government's and nursing professionals' support, to enhance educators' abilities in combating CSA. Nurses have a pivotal role in preventing and addressing child sexual abuse, and they should actively contribute to improving child safety and well-being through knowledge, collaboration, and advocacy for comprehensive prevention strategies., Competing Interests: The authors had no conflict of interest to declare., (© The Author(s) 2023.)

The problem of adolescent reproductive health (ARH) in Indonesia is worrying, especially regarding the Triad Adolescent Reproductive Health (Triad ARH) behavior. Many factors influence ARH behavior. This cross-sectional study explores the association factors between demographic factors, knowledge, and attitudes toward ARH behavior. Six hundred and sixty-eight junior high school and senior high school students were randomly selected from five public schools in Bandung Regency, West Java, Indonesia. The questionnaire used in this study consisted of four parts, namely: (1) demographic data of respondents; (2) knowledge including 20 questions used multiple choice questions; (3) attitude with 12 questions measured using the Likert scale; and (4) behaviors with seven questions measured using Likert scale. Results showed that gender ( p = 0.006), age ( p = 0.031), and level of education ( p = 0.006) were associated with behavior toward ARH behavior, but knowledge ( p = 0.582), religion ( p = 0.628), ethnic ( p = 0.276), and attitude ( p = 0.094) were not associated with ARH behavior. Multivariate analysis showed that only gender ( p < 0.010) significantly contributed to ARH behavior. Multivariate analysis showed that gender (OR: 2.168, 95% (CI: 1.204-3.904)) significantly contributed to ARH behavior. Based on the results, it can be concluded that the gender factor influences adolescent reproductive health behavior. This study provides further evidence that to promote positive ARH behavior's among youth in West Java, Indonesia, gender should be put in place and be sustainable, using the media and the Internet and involving the collaboration of parents, teachers, and peers to improve adolescent reproductive health.

Internet has become an important part of the daily life of adolescents. Easy access to internet and its social appeal among adolescent males render them at an increased risk of internet addiction and the associated adverse physical and psychosocial effects. We conducted a qualitative study using a phenomenological approach. A purposive sample of nine male adolescents was recruited in West Java, Indonesia. Semistructured interviews were conducted until data saturation was achieved. Data were subjected to thematic analysis. We identified four main themes from the experiences of adolescents with internet addition: reasons for internet addiction, unmet social need without the internet, effects of internet addiction, and self-control over internet usage. Internet addiction among male adolescents is a major public health problem that should be addressed. The findings of this study may be useful for health professionals and families to help male adolescents manage their internet addiction.
