Orthodontic tooth movement to therapeutically align malpositioned teeth is supposed to impact blood flow in the surrounding tissues. Here, we evaluated actual vascularization in the tension area of the periodontal ligament during experimental tooth movement in rats (N = 8) with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). We inserted an elastic band between the left upper first and the second rat molar, the right side was not treated and served as control. After four days of tooth movement, we recorded T1-weighted morphologic and dynamic-contrast-enhanced MRI sequences with an animal-specific 7 Tesla MRI to assess of local vascularization. Furthermore, we quantified osteoclasts and monocytes in the periodontal ligament, which are crucial for orthodontic tooth movement, root resorptions as undesirable side effects, as well as the extent of tooth movement using paraffine histology and micro-CT analysis. Data were tested for normal distribution with Shapiro&ndash, Wilk tests followed by either a two-tailed paired t-test or a Wilcoxon matched-pairs signed rank test. Significant orthodontic tooth movement was induced within the four days of treatment, as evidenced by increased osteoclast and monocyte activity in the periodontal ligament as well as by &micro, CT analysis. Contrast enhancement was increased at the orthodontically-treated side distally of the moved upper first left molar, indicating increased vascularization at the tension side of the periodontal ligament. Accordingly, we detected reduced time-to-peak and washout rates. Our study using MRI to directly assess local vascularization thus seems to confirm the hypothesis that perfusion is enhanced in tension zones of the periodontal ligament during orthodontic tooth movement.

Tıkanmaya karşı duyarlılık, gerek su pompalanmasında gerekse karışımların pompalanmasında açık tip çarkların tercih edilmesinin önemli sebeplerinden birisidir. Bu çalışmada, taşıt motorlarında kullanılan soğutma suyu pompa çarkları ölçülerine yakın ölçülerde çarklar imal edilip teste tabii tutulmuşlardır. Hem kapak çarklar hem de düz ve konik kanatk olmak üzere açık çarklar üzerinde çakşmalar yapılmıştır. Tüm çark tipleri hem geriye dönük kanatk hem de ileriye dönük kanatk olmak üzere farklı şekilde imal edilmişlerdir. İleriye dönük kanatk çarklarda 2000 ve 2820 devir sayılarında, geriye dönük kanatlı çarklarda ise 3500 ve 4000 devir sayılarında ölçümler yapılmıştır. Öncelikli olarak aralık kayıpları ve etkileyen faktörler araştırılmış, çarkların aralık açıklıklarından hangi ölçülerde etkilendiği incelenmiş ve kteratürdeki verilerle kryaslanmışlardır. Radyal pompaların seçiminde önemli bir faktör olan çark kanat sayılarına ve kanat yüksekliklerine bağk olarak pompa performansları incelenmiştir. Bu bölümde 5, 7, ve 11 kanatlı çarklar üzerinde çakşmalar yapılmış ve kanat sayısının etkileri araştırılmıştır. Bununla birlikte düz kanatk (b2/bı=l) açık çarklar ile konik kanatk (bî/bı^O.6) açık çarklar üzerinde yapılan çalışmalarla kanat yüksekliklerinin pompa performansı üzerindeki etkileri araştırılmış ve kıyaslanmıştır. XIVDeğişik tipteki çarkların devir sayılan, kanat yükseklikleri ve aralık açıklıklarının basma yüksekliği, verim ve mil gücü gibi performans değerleri üzerindeki etkileri araştırılıp elde edilen değerler irdelenerek grafikler halinde verilmiştir. İleriye dönük konik kanatlı açık çarklarda kanat sayışırım basma yüksekliğini olumlu yönde etkilediği görülmüştür. Dolayısıyla yüksek basma yüksekliği istenilen yerlerde kanat sayısı fazla olan çarklar tercih edilmelidir. Geriye dönük kanatlı açık çarkların aralık açıldığına karşı pek duyarlı olmadığı buna karşın ileriye dönük kanatlı açık çarkların ise aralık açıklığına karşı duyarlılığının daha yüksek olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Dolayısıyla geriye dönük açık kanatlı çarklar geniş aralık mesafesinde kullanıma daha uygundur. Therefore many different types and models of impellers are used in the circulation pumps. Various models of impellers are manufactured according to the purpose of required "head produced" and "capacity". Especially, different types of impellers that have various numbers of blades are used in the cooling system of vehicle motors. The selection of the type of pump impeller and the determination of the number of blades of the impeller have a great importance in the cooling system of vehicle motors. Pump shaft power and tip clearance losses also have great importance as well as the importance of the preferred head and capacity of the pump. In the centrifugal pumps, both of the closed and open types of impellers are used for many years. Open types of impellers are usually preferred, because closed types of impellers are more sensitive for the choking with respect to open types of impellers. The sensitive for the choking is one of the main reasons of the preference of the open types of impellers for the pumping of water as well as mixtures. In this study, the impellers of cooling water pumps that are used in the vehicle motors are manufactured nearly at the real dimensions and then they are tested. The studies are performed both of the closed impellers and also straight blades and conical blades types of open impellers. All of the impeller types are manufactured separately to obtain both of the backward and forward types of blades. Measurements are made at the 2000 and 2820 number of the revolution for the forward blades and at the 3500 and 4000 number of the revolution for the backward blades. At first, tip clearance effects on the impellers tested are investigated and what the dimension of the effect of the clearance space is also examined and the results are compared with the data that are given in the literature. XVIPumps performances axe investigated according to number of vanes and vane height that are very important factors for the selections of radial pumps. At this section experimental studies are performed on the impellers that have 5, 7 and 11 blades and the effect of the number of blades is investigated. At the same time straight blade impellers (b2/bl=l) and conical blade impellers the effect of the blade height on the pump performance are examined and compared with the studies on the straight blades impellers. The number of revolution of various types of impellers, vane heights and clearances on the efficiency and shaft power and other similar performance values are investigated and obtained results are given in the graphical forms with the comparisons. It has been shown that number of vanes positively effect the head produced for the forward conical impellers, for this reason, impellers that have more number of vanes must be preferred if high head produced is required. It has been determined that baclcward blade impellers aren't sensitive for the tip clearances, on other hand, forward blade impellers have higher sensitivity for the tip clearances consequently, backward blade impellers are more suitable for using in the wide clearance dimension. Obtained experimental results are compared with the results in the literature. xvii

BENZİNLİ MOTORLARDA ALTERNATİF YAKIT OLARAK LPG KULLANIM İNİN TEORİK VE DENEYSEL İNCELENM ES İ Yüksel KORKMAZ Anahtar Kelimeler :Benzin Motoru, Sıvılaştırılmış Petrol Gazı, Regülatör, Su Freni Özet :Bu çalışmada, benzinli motorlarda yakıt olarak benzin yerine Likit Petrol Gazı ' nın kullanımı üzerinde durulmuştur. Çalışma laboratuarda deneysel olarak yapıldığı gibi daha önce yapılmış olan uygulamalar araştırılıp incelenmiş ve elde edilen sonuçlar karşılaştırılmıştır. Deneysel çalışma Hidromekanik ve Hidrolik Makinalar Laboratuarında kendi imkanlarımızla hazırldığımız deney düzeneği üzerinde şartların müsade ettiği oranda yapılmıştır. Çalışmada 1 989 model 4 silindirli Şahin 1 3 1 marka bir motor kullanılmıştır.LPG ' nin benzinli motorda kullanılabilmesi için gerekli olan regülatör Hollanda ' dan getirtilmiş, diğer elemanlar ise sanayiden temin edilmiştir. LPG ile yapılacak çalışmalar için Tek gaz marka, 1 2 kg kapasiteli bir adet tüp kullanılmıştır. Motor önce benzinle çalıştırılarak ısıtılmış ve normal çalışma sıcaklığına geldiğinde deneysel ölçümler yapılmaya başlanmıştır. Daha sonra LPG ile benzer ölçümler alınmıştır.Bu ölçümler sonucu elde edilen moment, güç, saatteki yakıt sarfiyatı, egzos sıcaklığı ve egzosttaki CO yüzdesi gibi değerler tablo haline getirilmiştir. Konu maliyet açısından da incelenmiş, uygulamanın yapıldığı başka bir ülke olan Almanya 'daki incelemeler ile karşılaştırılmıştır. Ülkemizde LPG kullanan araçlarda, aracına göre % 30 - 50 arasında ekonomiklik sağladığı tespit edilmiştir. The studys done experimentally in laboratory. The studies and their results of earlier applications is searched and compared. Experimental study is done by experimental bench which is prepared by ourselves in Hydromeöchanic and Hydrolik Machines Laboratory İn this study an engine, which has got 4 cylinders and has been produced in 1 989 for an Şahin 131 car, is used. Regulator, which is essentich for using of LPG in internal combution engine, has been fetched from Holland and other equipments are taken for in near by industry. A tue, which has 12 kg capacity has Tekgaz trade-mark, is used for LPG aplications. When the engine was came to its normal temperature, by using petrol, experimental measurments were doen. Then same measurments were taken by using LPG. Measured momentum, power, fuel consumption in hour and egzost temperature are taken from experiments are listed. Economic analysis was also doen and researchs, which have been done in Germany which has got some aplications, are compared with hours. İn our country, it is understood that cars which use LPG, are economic about %30-50 according to the car. 74
