We study the Hanle and spin polarization recovery effects on resident electrons in a monolayer MoSe$_2$ on EuS. We demonstrate that localized electrons provide the main contribution to the spin dynamics signal at low temperatures below 15~K for small magnetic fields of only a few mT. The spin relaxation of these electrons is determined by random effective magnetic fields due to a contact spin interaction, namely the hyperfine interaction with the nuclei in MoSe$_2$ or the exchange interaction with the magnetic ions of the EuS film. From the magnetic field angular dependence of the spin polarization we evaluate the anisotropy of the intervalley electron $g$-factor and the spin relaxation time. The non-zero in-plane $g$-factor $|g_x|\approx 0.1$, the value of which is comparable to its dispersion, is attributed to randomly localized electrons in the MoSe$_2$ layer., Comment: 6 pages, 4 figures

The coupled electron-nuclear spin system in an InGaAs semiconductor as testbed of nonlinear dynamics can develop auto-oscillations, resembling time-crystalline behavior, when continuously excited by a circularly polarized laser. We expose this system to deviations from continuous driving by periodic modulation of the excitation polarization, revealing a plethora of nonlinear phenomena that depend on modulation frequency and depth. We find ranges in which the system's oscillations are entrained with the modulation frequency. The width of these ranges depends on the polarization modulation depth, resulting in an Arnold tongue. Outside the tongue, the system shows a variety of fractional subharmonic responses connected through bifurcation jets when varying the modulation frequency. Here, each branch in the frequency spectrum forms a devil's staircase. When an entrainment range is approached by going through an increasing order of bifurcations, chaotic behavior emerges. These findings can be described by an advanced model of the periodically pumped electron-nuclear spin system. We discuss the connection of the obtained results to different phases of time matter.

Hybrid structures combining ferromagnetic (FM) and semiconductor constituents have great potential for future applications in the field of spintronics. A systematic approach to study spin-dependent transport in the GaMnAs/GaAs/InGaAs quantum well (QW) hybrid structure with a few nanometer thick GaAs barrier is developed. It is demonstrated that a combination of spin electromotive force measurements and photoluminescence detection provides a powerful tool for studying the properties of such hybrid structures and allows to resolve the dynamic FM proximity effect on a nanometer scale. The method can be generalized on various systems including rapidly developing 2D van der Waals materials.

Control of magnetic domain wall movement by the spin-polarized current looks promising for creation of a new generation of magnetic memory devices. A necessary condition for this is the domain wall shift by a low-density current. Here I show that a strongly anisotropic exchange interaction between mobile heavy holes and localized magnetic moments enormously increases the current-induced torque on the domain wall as compared to systems with isotropic exchange. This enables one to control the domain wall motion by current density 10^4 A/cm^2 in ferromagnet/semiconductor hybrids. We review spin properties of semiconductor quantum dots and their effect on optical spectra. Photoluminescence and other types of spectroscopy are used to probe neutral and charged excitons in individual quantum dots with high spectral and spatial resolution. Spectral fine structure and polarization reveal how quantum dot spins interact with each other and with their environment. By taking advantage of the selectivity of optical selection rules and spin relaxation, optical spin pumping of the ground state electron and nuclear spins is achieved. Through such mechanisms, light can be used to process spins for use as a carrier of information.
