The main indications for therapeutic use of I-131 are treatment of hyperthyroidism, radioactive removal of residual thyroid tissue in malignant thyroid cancers that accumulate iodine, and possible adjuvant therapy of extensive malignancies that accumulate iodine. Treatment with radioactive iodine is used for diffuse hyperthyroidism when medications are not effective for a period or when medications fail to control elevated hormone levels in the blood, as well as for drug-related side effects. I-131 therapy is increasingly replacing surgical treatment because it is simple, economical, practical, and usually has no complications. The aim of this study is to investigate the quality of health of the target group before and after thyroid therapy with radioactive iodine. The study is a prospective study that is conducted from November 2019 to November 2020 in the Clinic for Nuclear Medicine and Endocrinology of the Clinical Center of the of Sarajevo (KCUS) from November 2019 to November 2020. The study including 30 patients who have been injected with I-131 for the treatment of thyroid disease and undergo regular check-ups and examinations at the Nuclear Medicine and Endocrinology Clinic of KCUS. The results show that patients felt better after treatment with radioactive iodine, which is confirmed by the Wilcoxon test for paired samples (p = 0.001). In both time periods, the most frequent rating is 3. However, the mean rating of general health before therapy is 2.6 and after therapy is 3.2. Since improvement in health and quality of life was observed in almost all treatment groups, this indicates that radioactive iodine therapy is suitable for all age groups. Introduction: The use of the internet is becoming increasingly important in enabling children and adults to fully participate in society, whether it is learning new skills or connecting with friends and family. Consequently, children's opportunities are increasingly dependent on the internet. The advance of technological innovations has resulted in more and more Information and communications technology (ICT) devices being available to children, contributing to the deterioration of children and adolescents' health. Methods: The study was designed as an epidemiological, cross-sectional, descriptive-analytical, comparative study. The study was conducted from October 18, 2021, to January 16, 2022, using an online questionnaire accessible through the Microsoft Forms platform. Respondents were able to access the questionnaire through a link or QR code located on the child's consent form for participation in the study, which was previously signed by a parent/guardian. Results: The results of the study showed that school-age children were the most frequent users of smartphones and watches TV, with male respondents spending more time using almost all ICT devices, with the exception of tablets, which were used more frequently by female respondents. The analysis of pain intensity in the use of information and communication technologies revealed that respondents most frequently experienced mild pain, especially in the neck/shoulders and lower extremities. The frequency of eye problems after using ICT devices was found to be occasional, with the most pronounced symptoms being fatigue, tearing, and eyestrain, as well as headaches in one in five respondents. Conclusion: Increasing frequency of ICT device use was associated with higher pain intensity in all anatomic regions. A 1-h increase in weekly ICT device use also increased the likelihood of pain intensity in all anatomic regions, including eye symptoms and headaches. Aim To evaluate primary caregiver’s knowledge and impact knowledge on glycemic control in children/adolescents. Methods and participants The research was cross-sectional study conducted from October 23, 2021 year to February 28, 2022 year, in the Canton of Sarajevo. 50 primary caregiver’s of pediatric patients up to 18 years old was involved. The Diabetes Knowledge Test was used to assess primary caregiver’s knowledge of diabetes. Results Knowledge of the primary caregiver’s whose children achieve HbA1c values<7.5% is significantly better than those whose children have HbA1c value >7.5% in general knowledge (p=0.003*), total (p=0.014*), while knowledge of insulin did not differ (p=0.865). Conclusion Continuous education of nurses who are key in educating patients and diabetes specialist nurses, especially pediatric specialist nurse is needed to provide effective health care. It would also be of paramount importance to recognize the need for health professionals in the field of nutrition who would provide health services to these patients, as part of the diabetes health care team. Health service providers should regularly assess the knowledge of pediatric patients and their parents about diabetes and self-help management skills, especially in patients who do not achieve optimal HbA1c values, in order to improve knowledge levels and improve skills for disease management [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Introduction: From previous studies, 60% of persons with cerebral palsy (CP), hearing impairment and other related difficulties are enrolled in the education system of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, of which 37.50% in regular schools and 22.50% in special schools. Of the total number of students, 44.44% attend schools according to the regular curriculum and 55.56% according to the adapted curriculum. The aim of the study is to investigate the adequacy of special education support for school inclusion of individuals with cerebral palsy and other related difficulties by presenting the support provided by professional special education staff and the support provided by teaching assistants. Methods: The study is retrospective and analytical-descriptive. The study was conducted on a sample of 120 respondents from four cantons of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Each Canton was used as one subsample of respondents. The data are presented in tabular form using classical descriptive statistics methods. The parametric statistics, analysis of variance (ANOVA) at the level of statistical significance of 0.05, was used to examine the statistical significance of differences between the subsamples of the respondents. Results: The results of the study showed that individuals with cerebral palsy, hearing impairment, and other associated difficulties do not have adequate support in educational inclusion. Defectological support at school is provided for 17.50% of persons with cerebral palsy, hearing impairment, and other associated difficulties, and only 6.66% of persons have the support of a teaching assistant. Conclusion: Persons with cerebral palsy, hearing impairment, and other associated difficulties do not have adequate support in educational inclusion. There is no statistically significant difference between the subsamples of respondents when it comes to special education support and assistant support in the educational inclusion. Chickenpox is a childhood disease and generally considered as self-limited with favorable outcomes. In some cases, mostly in immunocompromised hosts, complications are possible. Severe complications have also been reported in previously healthy persons, even with lethal outcome. In this prospective study, we observed 35 immunocompetent patients with chickenpox who developed a complication during the clinical course. Most of them had a bacterial superinfection of skin lesions. Around 80% required antibiotic therapy. There were no lethal cases. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Aim To investigate the effect of intermittent traction therapy (ITT) on pain in patients with chronic low back pain (CLBP). Methods A total of 81 patients with CLBP were included: experimental group received ITT (n=40) and control group received conservative physical treatment (n=41) 10 times for two weeks. A visual analogue scale (VAS) was used for measuring low back pain. Results In the experimental group, 26 (out of 40; 65.0%) patients were females, in the control group 20 (out of 41; 48.8%) were females (p=0.141). In a within-group comparison, median of VAS value was significantly decreased in both groups after ITT. A comparison of pre-intervention and post-intervention VAS value showed no statistically significant difference. Females from the experimental group had a significantly greater decrease of VAS compared with females from the control group. Patients in the ITT group with L5/S1 level of hernia had lower estimated marginal mean of VAS scale compared to the control group, as well the patients with left side of leg pain. Conclusion: Intermittent traction therapy is an effective treatment for pain reduction in patients with chronic low back pain. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Dyslipidemia is a major cardiovascular disease risk factor for accelerated atherosclerosis and early clinical manifestations of cardiovascular disease. In childhood, primary dyslipidemia is more common than secondary dyslipidemia, and it is hereditary metabolic disorder of lipoproteins. Given that primary dyslipidemia runs from the child's birth and that there is no symptomatic clinical manifestation, it is important to determine, as early as possible, disorder of the lipid profile in children and relatives, and prevent or reduce the accelerated atherosclerosis and early cardiovascular clinical expression. Using universal screening for dyslipidemia, which should cover as many prepubertal children with proper state of health, we can identify the disorder of lipid profile in children, and slow down or reduce the early clinical manifestations of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. The basic therapeutic approach to prevent and control children with dyslipidemia includes practicing healthy eating habits, regular physical activities, limiting sedentary lifestyle and avoiding inhalation of smoke, and use of lipid-altering drugs in indicated cases. Aim To demonstrate the effects of early diagnosis of overuse syndrome in the wrist on healing, pain intensity and quick recovery to daily work and sport activities. Methods This clinical retrospective study included 60 patients of both sexes aged from 22 to 44 years, with pain in the wrist and clinical signs of creeping tenosynovitis. Patients were divided into two groups: the first group - persons doing sports activity, and the second group - patients who did not deal with sports activities. Results Females in 31 (51.7%) cases compared to males with 29 (48.3%) were slightly more represented in the total sample. Patients with injuries due to sports activities had previously reported to the physician and the diagnosis was set at an average of 3.1±0.9 days after the first symptoms (the range of 2-5 days), compared to the patients of the second group whose diagnosis was set at an average of 4.7±1.1 days after the first symptoms (p<0.05).
