The study investigated ten Korean secondary English teachers' views on to what extent core competencies were reflected in textbooks using 18 Likert-type statements. This study also examined their views on how well cultural contents and activities met curricular objectives of teaching culture through open-ended questions and interviews. Results showed that the three items on civic competence had lower means except for the one on ethical use of information collected in class. Teachers replied that tasks for each grade were deficient in helping students feel proud of their own culture and developing positive attitudes toward other cultures. They thought that current cultural contents lacked diversity despite positive improvements in including other cultures over the years and possibility of meeting curricular goals. Consequently, they made various efforts to offer appropriate culture teaching using additional materials and/or activities with diverse teaching strategies and techniques. Some implications are drawn from these results for better culture teaching.

This article analyzes the impact of the Internet on college students’ reading habits and preferences, emphasizing that short reading, micro-reading, and miscellaneous reading have become trends. The article discusses the intelligent transformation of libraries, proposes strategies such as enhancing resource publicity, strengthening academic resource construction and providing personalized services, and analyzes the effect of brilliant reading promotion assessed by WeChat Communication Index (WCI). The results show that reading speed in the virtual reality environment is significantly faster than in the traditional environment, but deep comprehension takes longer. The time spent by mobile college students on entertaining videos, WeChat public numbers, etc. reached a ratio of 0.6740 and 0.5637. PC students spent more time on professional academic journals, academic MOOC videos, etc. The results of the WCI index for March-September 2022 showed that the WCI before the beginning of the school year was 176.23, and the highest in the middle of the semester reached 387.63, which proved the effectiveness of the intelligent transformation of the Library. The article demonstrates college students’ new trend of reading behavior in the Internet era and the effectiveness of Library coping strategies.

Cell extrusion is a mechanism of cell elimination that is used by organisms as diverse as sponges, nematodes, insects and mammals.sup.1-3. During extrusion, a cell detaches from a layer of surrounding cells while maintaining the continuity of that layer.sup.4. Vertebrate epithelial tissues primarily eliminate cells by extrusion, and the dysregulation of cell extrusion has been linked to epithelial diseases, including cancer.sup.1,5. The mechanisms that drive cell extrusion remain incompletely understood. Here, to analyse cell extrusion by Caenorhabditis elegans embryos.sup.3, we conducted a genome-wide RNA interference screen, identified multiple cell-cycle genes with S-phase-specific function, and performed live-imaging experiments to establish how those genes control extrusion. Extruding cells experience replication stress during S phase and activate a replication-stress response via homologues of ATR and CHK1. Preventing S-phase entry, inhibiting the replication-stress response, or allowing completion of the cell cycle blocked cell extrusion. Hydroxyurea-induced replication stress.sup.6,7 triggered ATR-CHK1- and p53-dependent cell extrusion from a mammalian epithelial monolayer. We conclude that cell extrusion induced by replication stress is conserved among animals and propose that this extrusion process is a primordial mechanism of cell elimination with a tumour-suppressive function in mammals. Quantitative evaluation of blasting damage has always been a matter of great concern to the engineering blasting field.In this paper, an active confining pressure and boundary constraint device is designed and developed to solve the problem of boundary constraint in traditional indoor small specimen blasting and punching problem caused by poor sealing effect.Based on CT scan and 3D reconstruction, the method of testing and calculating the rock damage after blasting is proposed.The method can be used to quantitatively evaluate and analyze the degree of damage and fracture after the rock specimen is blasted with small charge.Using the device and the method, the laboratory blasting test of red sand stone of small charge under different relative confining pressure was carried out, the CT scan and CT image binarization processing of the post-explosion specimen was carried out, and the rock specimen was reconstructed based on Mimics 10.01.It is found that the reconstructed model has strong similarity with the real post-explosion specimen.Finally, fractal dimension and damage degree are calculated.The research results provide a new idea for blasting damage evaluation.
