Abstract

A 30‐year‐old nulligravida was referred under suspicion of large subserosal myoma. T2‐weighted magnetic resonance imaging revealed multilobulated solid mass in the left lower abdomen measuring 16 cm in longitudinal diameter. The ovarian surface was covered with a marked T2‐hypointense thick rim called "black garland sign," forming multiple nodular masses ranging from 1 to 5 cm in diameter in some portions of the bilateral ovaries. By laparoscopic‐assisted minilaparotomy, the stalk of pedunculated mass originating from the left ovarian hilum was excised, followed by carrying out of the body after in‐bag morcellation using a surgical scalpel. Right ovarian exophytic nodular masses larger than 1 cm were excised using monopolar electrode needle. Pathological examination of excised right and left masses showed fibroblast‐like spindle cell proliferation with collagenous stroma; however, differences between right and left masses cannot be distinguished on a histological level. Postoperative diagnosis was ovarian fibromatosis coexisting with large pedunculated fibroma. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Abstract: The effects of Mn content on the microstructure and mechanical properties of TiC/TiB2 base cermets were studied with the compositions of TiC/TiB2–24Ni (mass%). The TiC and TiB2 ratio is set to a molar ratio of 57:43 that is near the quasi–eutectic composition. The cermet exhibits a microstructural refinement with an addition of Mn. Both transverse rupture strength and hardness of the cermet show maximum of 903 MPa and 92.6 HRA for the cermet containing 1.0 vol.% of Mn respectively. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Abstract

Abstract: New sintering technique named Reaction Boronizing Sintering has successfully developed world first ternary boride base cermets with excellent mechanical properties such as Mo2FeB2 and Mo2NiB2 base ones. For the prediction of the cermet properties it is very important to know the physical properties of the component materials. In this study 0, 5, 10 and 15 mass% Cr containing Mo2NiB2 ternary borides were prepared to investigate the properties of the hard phase in the cermets. Crystal structure of Mo2NiB2 ternary boride changed from orthorhombic to tetragonal around at 15 mass% Cr. Cr added Mo2NiB2 ternary borides, especially 10 and 15 mass% Cr added borides exhibit high hardness and high elastic modulus comparable to WC and TiC. Cr containing Mo2NiB2 ternary boride is suitable alternative materials to wear resistant hard materials such as WC. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
