Background: A patient was evaluated with respect to the effects and results of a complex treatment plan for complete dental rehabilitation. Several steps were required. Each step included immunological tests of salivary biomarkers. Clinical and immunological assessments were evaluated on Day 3, Week 2, Month 3, and Month 6 post-surgery. These evaluations guided the decision-making process with regard to preparation of a permanent prosthesis., Objective: The aim of the study is to evaluate the response of tissues and organs of the maxillofacial region in patients during dental rehabilitation after maxillofacial surgery., Methods: Complex treatment and rehabilitation involving cooperation between the specialists in maxillofacial surgery, prosthetic dentistry, and cancer immunology., Results: Long-term monitoring and clinical examination showed a direct relationship between the patient's clinical and dental status and the changes in oral fluid biomarkers., Conclusion: The data revealed that the oral fluid biomarkers reflected the patient's adaptation to prosthodontic rehabilitation. Three-dimensional (3D) visualization is applied throughout many specialities, prompting an important breakthrough in accessibility and modeling of data. Experimental rendering and computerized reconstruction of objects has influenced many scientific achievements, facilitating one of the greatest advancements in medical education since the first illustrated anatomy book changed specialist training forever. Modern medicine relies on detailed, high quality virtual models for educational, experimental and clinical purposes. Almost all current virtual visualization methods rely on object slicing producing serial sections, which can then be digitalized or analyzed manually. The tendency to computerize serial sections roots from convenience, accessibility, decent visualization quality and automation capabilities. Drawbacks of serial section imaging is tissue damage occurring within each consequent sectioning. To utilize the important aspects of real-life object reconstruction, and maintain integrity of biological structures, we suggest a novel method of low-temperature layering of objects for digitization and computerized virtual reconstruction. Here we show the process of consequent imaging of each novel layer of a biological object, which provides a computer with high quality data for virtual reconstruction and creation of a multidimensional real-life model. Our method prevents tissue deformation and biodegradation due to specific methods used in preparation of the biological object. The resulting images can be applied in surgical training, medical education and numerous scientific fields for realistic reconstruction of biological objects.

The objective of the research was to determine odontological (odontometric and odontoscopic) and morpho-aesthetic variations of the upper central and lateral incisors in 14-year-old children residing in Udmurt Republic. 200 adolescent respondents (100 boys and 100 girls) were included in the study. We accessed morphological aspects of the permanent upper right and left central incisors (URCI and ULCI) in 14-year-old children born and permanently residing in conditionally ecologically favorable districts of the Udmurt Republic. Odontological variations of the permanent tooth crown shapes in early adolescent children (14-year-old) are shown; morphological, ethnic, age and gender, aesthetic features are determined. The determined odontoscopic and odontometric features of the permanent tooth crown shapes matter of scientific and practical terms and can be used to clarify ethnicity and possibly gender. The identified patterns can change and multiply the information-statistical interpretation of the ethnic and morpho-aesthetic features of the permanent teeth, and hence have an important impact when restoring damaged teeth crowns, which affect the permanent dentition smile harmony in 14-year-old adolescents born and permanently residing in the Udmurt Republic.

This article provides the current data of the modern literature on the question of the biocompatibility of dental materials, their influence on the local immune homeostasis of the oral cavity; influence of the method of transmission of masticatory load on the tissues and organs of the oral cavity. Thus, when installing the seal, the choice of material, the localization of carious lesions, and when prosthetics - the choice of material of the prosthetic structure and the method of transfer of chewing load is important. It should be understood that the reaction of the mucous membrane can be not only in the area of direct contact with the dental material, but also appear in remote areas of the oral mucosa.

The aim of this work was to study the influence of components of dental status on the local immunity of the oral cavity; we compared the results of the study of patients with squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the oral mucosa and patients without neoplasm. The study involved 136 patients with squamous cell carcinoma of the oral mucosa and 57 patients without neoplasms. In the role of the constituent characteristics of dental status were examined: the use of removable and fixed dentures, dental caries, dental plaque, sharp edges of fullings. Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) 2, 8 and 9, as well as their tissue inhibitors 1 and 2 were assessed in oral fluid. The results suggest the influence of all factors on local immune status of the oral cavity as proved by the significant changes in MMPs level. The use of removable dentures resulted in the pronounced decrease of MMPs and should be considered in oral SSC screening and non-invasive diagnostics.

The purpose of this study is a comparative analysis of the effectiveness of the use of dental trays-transformers for the manufacture of prosthetic designs for elderly patients with acquired microstomia. Was conducted a clinical study of 12 hemimaxillectomy patients from 60 to 72 years. The 1st group included 6 patients with acquired microstomia, impressions of the jaws were obtained with dental trays-transformers. The 2nd group includes 6 patients who have less traumatic oral opening, they were removed with standard dental trays. The group of clinical control consisted of 6 patients with partial absence of maxillary teeth, who needed to prosthetic dentistry. The results of the study indicate the effectiveness of the use of trays-transformers to impressions of the jaw in elderly patients with restricted oral opening, as well as in patients with normal oral opening. Optimization of the stages of obturator prostheses allows to provide qualitative prosthetic care of patients with malignant neoplasms of the oropharyngeal region, which has a positive effect on the quality of life of elderly patients with acquired defects of the oropharyngeal region.

This article presents the results of a study of the dental status of 60 elderly and senile patients with squamous cell carcinoma of the oral mucosa. The use of removable and non-removable dentures, carious lesions of teeth, dental plaque, sharp edges of the crown seals were studied as components of the dental status.

Background: There is a dearth of published information on the posterior perforated substance as compared to the anterior perforated substance. We managed to glean facts about the posterior perforated substance that can serve as a landmark for surgical operations in the adjacent regions of the midbrain and the vessels passing through it. Moreover, the posterior perforated substance contains the interpeduncular nucleus responsible for the mental state of the individual., Objectives: 1) To describe the topography of the blood vessels supplying the posterior perforated substance area from the surgical point of view; 2) to investigate the functions of the interpeduncular nucleus., Methods: We assembled and analyzed results from source databases by Elsevier, NCBI MedLine, Scopus, Scholar. Google and Embase. Each article was studied in detail for practically useful information about the posterior perforated substance., Results: The P1-segment perforating branches of the posterior cerebral artery supply the posterior perforated substance. This area is especially vulnerable in the case of vascular pathologies. The posterior communicating artery can block the surgeon's view and impede maneuverability of the tool in the area of the posterior perforated substance, which may be addressed using the separation technique, which can lead to positive results. In addition, the medial habenula-interpeduncular nucleus in the posterior perforated substance is associated with various addictions and psychiatric conditions., Conclusion: The posterior perforated substance area is of great interest for surgical interventions. The benign and malignant neoplasms in parotid gland have similar clinical presentations despite different tumor growth rates. The study compared the clinical and morphological data as well as the results of ELISA for MMP-2, MMP-8, MMP-9, TIMP-1, and TIMP-2 in salivary fluid yielded during primary examination of the patients with pleomorphic adenoma and adenocarcinoma of parotid gland. The examined biomarkers detected in salivary fluid in patients with various cancer types differed significantly (p≤0.05). The correlations between clinical identification of adenoma or adenocarcinoma, on the one hand, and the levels of MMP-8, TIMP-1, and TIMP-2, on the other hand, makes it possible to use the latter as biomarkers for early detection and comprehensive noninvasive differential diagnostics of these neoplasms.

Background: Breast plastic surgery is a rapidly evolving field of medicine. The modern view of surgical trends reflects the desire to minimize complications and introduce advanced technologies. These always will be priorities for surgeons. Reconstructive surgery, a branch of plastic surgery focusing on restoration of lost functional and aesthetic component, seeks to enhance psychological rehabilitation and improves the quality of life, as well as aesthetic recovery., Objective: This review addresses the action of fibrin agents and their effect on the quality of surgical hemostasis., Discussion and Conclusion: The fundamental goals for the surgeon are to perform a minimally traumatic intervention and to prevent any form of complication. Achieving complete hemostasis is an intraoperative necessity. Timely prevention of bleeding and hemorrhagic phenomena can affect not only the outcome of the operation, but also the incidence of postoperative complications. Topics include the integrity of microvascular anastomoses, tissue adhesion, and the incidence of seromas and hematomas associated with fibrin glue usage. The radiation has an antitumor effect and causes radiation reactions and damage to surrounding tissues within the framework of combined antitumor treatment of patients with cancer of maxillofacial region. It also has an irreversible effect on the production of saliva by large and small salivary glands, and this must be taken into account when planning radiation therapy for this group of patients.

Dental and immunological features of the influence of various prosthetic structures of orthopedic prostheses on tissues and organs of the maxillofacial region were evaluated by the parameters of expression of oral fluid biomarkers. Healthy people without tumor and somatic diseases and patients with neoplasms of maxillofacial area in need of dental rehabilitation were examined before and in 2 weeks and 3 months after treatment. Certain regularities in the reaction of biomarkers to orthopedic prostheses were observed: a decrease in activity of MMP-2 and MMP-8 and their inhibitors or an increase in MMP-9; an increase in activity of biomarkers at early terms and a decrease in delayed terms after prosthetics.

Complex clinical, dental, and morphological investigation, and ELISA of levels of MMP-2, 8, 9, and TIMP-1 and 2 in the saliva was performed during primary examination of patients with premalignant lesions of maxillofacial area and practically healthy volunteers. Levels of all study MMP in the saliva significantly differed (p≤0.05) in patients with premalignant lesions and the control. These patients were also characterized by a significant (0.1≤p≤0.05) changes in TIMP concentrations (toward pathological pattern) comparing to the control. Pattern of correlations between parameters of MMP-2 expression might be a marker for early diagnostics of a premalignant lesion independently on the dental health. Observed features of biomarker expression in patients with premalignant lesions might reflect the appearance of a cascade of biochemical reactions followed by the activation of production of proteinases and their inhibitors as a response to the exposure to etiological factors. Clinical and morphological diagnosis of a premalignant lesion in the maxillofacial area was confirmed by the immunological analysis of biomarker expression in the saliva, which can be used for monitoring and screening of population.

Saliva is a clinically informative biological fluid which contains multitude of bio-markers. This characteristic makes it possible to carry out numerous analyzes for developing mode to test patient in situ, express-tests included. The diagnostic by saliva is a new area of more simple application both markers and analyzers that can be useful in diagnostic of diseases of oral cavity, oncological diseases included. The using of saliva expands perspectives for making clinical diagnosis and establishment of dynamics and monitoring of disease.

Morbidity and mortality from malignant neoplasms increases each year, and the average age of patients with first diagnosed decreases. The peak of incidence of malignant tumors of maxillofacial region falls on the elderly life. Not only age-related changes of the organism contribute in the development of this pathology, but also harmful habits. A comprehensive approach to solving the problem requires monitoring of this group of patients to identify risk factors for the development of pathologies in the oral and maxillofacial region.
