Abstract

Using $e^+e^-$ collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.93 fb$^{-1}$ taken at a center-of-mass energy of 3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector, we determine the absolute branching fractions $\mathcal{B}(D^+\rightarrow K_S^0 K^+)$ = $(3.02 \pm 0.09 \pm 0.08)\times10^{-3}$, $\mathcal{B}(D^+\rightarrow K_S^0 K^+ \pi^0)$ = $(5.07 \pm 0.19 \pm 0.23)\times10^{-3}$, $\mathcal{B}(D^+\rightarrow K_L^0 K^+)$ = $(3.21 \pm 0.11 \pm 0.11)\times10^{-3}$, and $\mathcal{B}(D^+\rightarrow K_L^0 K^+ \pi^0)$ = $(5.24 \pm 0.22 \pm 0.22)\times10^{-3}$, where the first and second uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. The branching fraction \wbrksk is consistent with the world average value and the other three branching fractions are measured for the first time. We also measure the $CP$ asymmetries for the four decays and do not find a significant deviation from zero., Comment: 12 pages, 5 figures

Abstract

We have carried out the basic research for the accelerator and tokamak control system based on the Experimental Physics and Industrial Control System (EPICS). We have used the process database and the state notation language (SNL) in the EPICS to develop the simulator which represents as a virtual machine. In this paper, we introduce the simulator of the global orbit feedback system as an example. This simulates the global orbit feedback system under the constraint conditions for Pohang Light Source (PLS) storage ring. Abstract

The Pohang Accelerator Laboratory operates an electron linac for the pulsed neutron source as one of the long-term nuclear R&D programs at the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute. The designed beam parameters are as follows; The nominal beam energy is 100 MeV, the maximum beam power is 10 kW, and the beam current is varied from 300 mA to 5A depends on the pulse repetition. The linac has two operating modes: one for short pulse modes with the various repetitions between 2 ns and 100 ns and the other for long pulse modes with 1 ms repetition. We have constructed and tested an electron linac based on the existing equipment such as a SLAC-5045 klystron, two constant gradient accelerating sections, and a thermionic RF-gun. We present the characteristics of the linac and report the status of the pulsed neutron source facilities include a target system and time-of-flight paths., Comment: 3 pages 2 figures

Abstract

Anticipatory dynamics (AD) is unusual in that responses from an information receiver can appear ahead of triggers from the source, and direction of information flow (DIF) is needed to establish causality. Although it is believed that anticipatory dynamics is important for animals' survival, natural examples are rare. Time series (trajectories) from a pair of interacting zebrafish are used to look for the existence of AD in natural systems. In order to obtain the DIF between the two trajectories, we have made use of a special experimental design to designate information source. However, we have also used common statistical tools such as Granger causality and transfer entropy to detect DIF. In our experiments, we found that a majority of the fish pairs do not show any anticipatory behaviors and only a few pairs displayed possible AD. Interestingly, for fish in this latter group, they do not display AD all the time. Our findings suggest that the formation of schooling of fish might not need the help of AD, and new tools are needed in the detection of causality in AD system. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

By using the ideas of Feigin and Stoyanovsky and Calinescu, Lepowsky and Milas we introduce and study the principal subspaces associated with the Etingof-Kazhdan quantum affine vertex algebra of integer level $k\geqslant 1$ and type $A_1^{(1)}$. We show that the principal subspaces possess the quantum vertex algebra structure, which turns to the usual vertex algebra structure of the principal subspaces of generalized Verma and standard modules at the classical limit. Moreover, we find their topological quasi-particle bases which correspond to the sum sides of certain Rogers-Ramanujan-type identities., 14 pages

— Phishing is a form of deception used by Internet users where attackers steal sensitive information via email, emails, messages or advertisements. These attachments may contain malicious software that could infect the user's device. If the user opens this URL, then a false website opens, in which the user enters confidential data. While fraudulent methods continue to be prevalent, the purpose of this study is to provide information on how to identify an infected email and educate users about the features of phishing emails. Abstract

Abstract Background The causes of perioperative hyperlactatemia vary, but they are generally associated with hypoperfusion. Here, we report the case of a pediatric patient who developed unexplained hyperlactatemia during anesthesia with propofol and sevoflurane, which recurred during a second surgery under anesthesia with remimazolam. Case presentation. An 8-year-old boy with Perthes disease and no remarkable past or family history was scheduled for an osteotomy. Anesthesia was induced with propofol and rocuronium and then maintained with sevoflurane and remifentanil. The patient developed lactic acidosis without hemodynamic instability during anesthesia, with a normal lactate/pyruvate ratio after surgery, suggesting a lack of hypoperfusion. We used remimazolam instead of propofol during the second surgery 6 months later, considering the possibility of drug-induced lactic acidosis, including malignant hyperthermia and propofol infusion syndrome, where the unexplained hyperlactatemia recurred. Conclusions Distinguishing the causes of hyperlactatemia, particularly in the absence of other symptoms, is challenging. The lactate/pyruvate ratio during episodes of hyperlactatemia can provide insights into the underlying pathology.

Abstract

Physical review / D D 99(3), 032002 (2019). doi:10.1103/PhysRevD.99.032002, Using e+e- collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.93 fb-1 taken at a center-of-mass energy of 3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector, we determine the absolute branching fractions B(D+→KS0K+)=(3.02±0.09±0.08)×10-3, B(D+→KS0K+π0)=(5.07±0.19±0.23)×10-3, B(D+→KL0K+)=(3.21±0.11±0.11)×10-3, and B(D+→KL0K+π0)=(5.24±0.22±0.22)×10-3, where the first and second uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. The branching fraction B(D+→KS0K+) is consistent with the world average value and the other three branching fractions are measured for the first time. Abstract

We experimentally probe electron collisions with HC$_3$N in the energy range from 0 to 10 eV with the focus on vibrational excitation and dissociative electron attachment. The vibrational excitation cross sections show a number of resonances which are mode specific: the two dominant $\pi^*$ resonances are visible in the excitation of all the vibrational modes, however, broad $\sigma^*$ resonances are visible only in certain bond-stretching vibrational modes. The lower $\pi^*$ resonance shows a pronounced boomerang structure. Since it overlaps with the threshold peak originating from a long-range electron-molecule interaction, the interference pattern is rather unusual. Somewhat surprisingly, the boomerang structure is visible also in the elastic scattering cross section. The dissociative electron attachment cross sections agree qualitatively with the data of Gilmore and Field [J. Phys. B 48 (2015) 035201], however, approximately a factor of two difference is found in the absolute values.
