This book constitutes the proceedings of the 13th International Conference, Spatial Cognition 2024, held in Dublin, Ireland, during June 25 - 29, 2024. The 9 full papers were carefully reviewed and selected from 12 submissions. The papers are organized in topical sections as follows: Mathematics; Gender Differences; STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics); and Early Childhood.

Semantic computing is an integral part of modern technology, an essential component of fields as diverse as artificial intelligence, data science, knowledge discovery and management, big data analytics, e-commerce, enterprise search, technical documentation, document management, business intelligence, and enterprise vocabulary management. This book presents the proceedings of SEMANTICS 2023, the 19th International Conference on Semantic Systems, held in Leipzig, Germany, from 20 to 22 September 2023. The conference is a pivotal event for those professionals and researchers actively engaged in harnessing the power of semantic computing, an opportunity to increase their understanding of the subject's transformative potential while confronting its practical limitations. Attendees include information managers, IT architects, software engineers, and researchers from a broad spectrum of organizations, including research facilities, non-profit entities, public administrations, and the world's largest corporations. For this year's conference a total of 54 submissions were received in response to a call for papers. These were subjected to a rigorous, double-blind review process, with at least three independent reviews conducted for each submission. The 16 papers included here were ultimately accepted for presentation, with an acceptance rate of 29.6%. Areas covered include novel research challenges in areas such as data science, machine learning, logic programming, content engineering, social computing, and the Semantic Web. The book provides an up-to-date overview, which will be of interest to all those wishing to stay abreast of emerging trends and themes within the vast field of semantic computing.

The field of semantic computing is highly diverse, linking areas such as artificial intelligence, data science, knowledge discovery and management, big data analytics, e-commerce, enterprise search, technical documentation, document management, business intelligence, and enterprise vocabulary management. As such it forms an essential part of the computing technology that underpins all our lives today. This volume presents the proceedings of SEMANTiCS 2021, the 17th International Conference on Semantic Systems. As a result of the continuing Coronavirus restrictions, SEMANTiCS 2021 was held in a hybrid form in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, from 6 to 9 September 2021. The annual SEMANTiCS conference provides an important platform for semantic computing professionals and researchers, and attracts information managers, IT­architects, software engineers, and researchers from a wide range of organizations, such as research facilities, NPOs, public administrations and the largest companies in the world. The subtitle of the 2021 conference's was “In the Era of Knowledge Graphs”, and 66 submissions were received, from which the 19 papers included here were selected following a rigorous single-blind reviewing process; an acceptance rate of 29%. Topics covered include data science, machine learning, logic programming, content engineering, social computing, and the Semantic Web, as well as the additional sub-topics of digital humanities and cultural heritage, legal tech, and distributed and decentralized knowledge graphs. Providing an overview of current research and development, the book will be of interest to all those working in the field of semantic systems.

This open access book constitutes the thoroughly refereed post-conference proceedings of the 6th International Workshop on Graph Structures for Knowledge Representation and Reasoning, GKR 2020, held virtually in September 2020, associated with ECAI 2020, the 24th European Conference on Artificial Intelligence.The 7 revised full papers presented together with 2 invited contributions were reviewed and selected from 9 submissions. The contributions address various issues for knowledge representation and reasoning and the common graph-theoretic background, which allows to bridge the gap between the different communities.

This volume contains papers presented at the Sixth International Conference on Knowledge and Systems Engineering (KSE 2014), which was held in Hanoi, Vietnam, during 9–11 October, 2014. The workshop on Declarative Agent Languages and Technologies is a we- established venue for researchers interested in sharing their experiences in the areas of declarative and formal aspects of agents and multi-agent systems, and in engineering and technology. Today it is still a challenge to develop techno- gies that can satisfy the requirements of complex agent systems. The design and development of multi-agent systems still calls for models and technologies that ensure predictability, enable feature discovery, allow for the veri?cation of properties, and guarantee?exibility. Declarative approaches are potentially a valuable means for satisfying the needs of multi-agent system developers and for specifying multi-agent systems. DALT 2005, the third edition of the workshop, was held in Utrecht, The Netherlands, in July 2005, in conjunction with AAMAS 2005, the Fourth Int- national Joint Conference on Agents and Multiagent Systems. Over 30 persons attended the workshop con?rming the success of the previous editions in M- bourne 2003 (LNAI 2990) and New York 2004 (LNAI 3476). The workshop series is a forum of discussion aimed both at supporting the transfer of decla- tive paradigms and techniques into the broader community of agent researchers andpractitioners, and atbringing theissuesofdesigningreal-world andcomplex agent systems to the attention of researchers working on declarative progr- ming and technologies.

This volume contains selected papers presented at the 12th International C- ference on Conceptual Structures, ICCS 2004, held in Huntsville Alabama, July 19–23, 2004. The main theme of the conference, “Conceptual Structures at Work”, was chosen to express our intention of applying conceptual structures for hum- centered practical purposes. That invites us to develop not only clear conceptual theories,butalsomethodstosupporthumansintheapplicationofthesetheories in their societies. Some promising steps in this direction are being taken, but the gap between the researchers working on a highly sophisticated level on one side and the practitioners in many?elds of applications on the other side is usually di?culttobridge.Someofushaveexperiencesinsuchpracticalcooperation,but we need more members of our community to be engaged in “real life problems”. We all know that solutions of complex problems in practice require not only a well-developed formal theory, but also an understanding of the whole context of the given problems. To support our understanding we need general philo- phical methods as well as formal theories for the representation of fundamental structures in practice. We believe that our community has powerful tools and methodsforsuccessfulapplicationsinpractice,butthatwemustdevelopaforum to present our results to a broader audience. First we must understand the s- ni?cant developments in our own group, which has activities in many directions of research.

Principles of Knowledge Representation and Reasoning contains the proceedings of the Fourth International Conference on Principles of Knowledge Representation and Reasoning (KR'94) held in Bonn, Germany, on May 24-27, 1994. The conference provided a forum for reviewing the theory and principles underlying knowledge representation and reasoning. Topics covered range from reasoning about mental states and spatial reasoning with propositional logics to default logic as a query language. Comprised of 60 chapters, this book begins with a description of a formal language for representing and reasoning about time and action before turning to proof in context and how it can replace the most common uses of reflection principles. The reader is then introduced to reasoning with minimal models; belief ascription and mental-level modeling; and a unified framework for class-based representation formalisms. A general approach to specificity in default reasoning is also described, together with an ontology for engineering mathematics and the use of abduction to generate tests. The book concludes by considering the use of natural language for knowledge representation and reasoning. This monograph will be of interest to both students and practitioners in the fields of artificial intelligence and computer science.
