Abstract

Heterogeneous media can be represented as specially organized heterogeneous materials. The complex process of forming heterogeneous materials and media as systems is realized by gradually transitioning from one state to another. The presence of many one-time transformations of space-time structures causes the latter. When simulating damage such as cracks and fractures in products made of non-metallic heterogeneous materials, which consists of “assigning” the place of damage to the product at a specific moment in time, neither the method of random selection from the previously compiled list of “dangerous” places, nor the method of transfer to the object can be used, which is modeled, the results of field and operational tests of other products of a similar class or even other products of the same class. Therefore, it is proposed to use a combined method of obtaining a stream of quasi-random numbers, that is, a stream of random numbers that are “modulated” by information about defects in the structure of the material of the product, which was obtained because of field tests of the products or during their operation.

10. Seasonal Dynamics of CH4 and CO2 Concentrations in Bog Lake Severnoe.

Abstract

Bog and lake ecosystems of the boreal region are recognized as important parts of the global biogeochemical carbon cycle. At the same time, many aspects of the gas regime dynamics of bog lakes remain understudied. The paper presents data on the seasonal dynamics of dissolved CH4 and CO2 concentrations in the bog lake located in the ridge-lake complex of the Ilassky bog, a typical raised bog in the northern taiga of northwestern Russia, and results of analysis of the seasonal vertical distribution of greenhouse gases in the water column and the dynamics of surface concentrations with increased time resolution. The reasons for and patterns of their variability are considered, including those in relation to the characteristics of the bottom sediments. Concentrations of CH4 and CO2 in the water column vary during the year within wide ranges: from 4 to 652 µg/L and from 0.19 to 19 mg/L, respectively. CH4 concentrations in the surface layer are at approximately the same level from May through August, with values measured in the water (5.9 to 11 µg/L) more than one hundred times higher than the concentrations in equilibrium with the atmosphere (0.04 to 0.05 µg/L), indicating a methane flux to the atmosphere. The CO2 concentrations decrease throughout the open water period and become lower than the equilibrium concentrations with the atmosphere by the end of August, indicating a change in the flux direction and uptake of CO2 from the atmosphere. The results showed that, depending on the season, a bog lake can be not only a source but also a sink for atmospheric carbon, 90–99% of which is CO2 according to literature data. 11. CH4 and CO2 Fluxes from the Surface of Boreal Lakes in the Arkhangelsk Region in Spring and Summer.

Abstract

The paper presents the estimates of spatial and seasonal variability of the greenhouse gases (CH4 and CO2) fluxes into the atmosphere from the boreal lake surface and the volume of these emissions in the spring and summer of 2022. The lakes of the Arkhangelsk region with different morphometric, hydrological, and hydrochemical characteristics were chosen as the objects of the study. The results showed that the CH4 fluxes from the lake surface varied in the ranges of 0.39–3.7 mg/m2 per day (spring) and 2.7–12.4 mg/m2 per day (summer), while the CO2 fluxes varied within 0.48–16.8 g/m2 per day (spring) and –0.47...14.1 g/m2 per day (summer). Specific CH4 fluxes were smaller in the spring, while CO2 fluxes were smaller in the summer, when several humic lakes became a sink for CO2. Depending on a season, the spatial variability of CH4 and CO2 fluxes reached 72 and 188%, respectively. It has been shown that spatial variability can introduce significant uncertainty into the estimated values of emissions: by 2.7 times for CH4 and by 3–6 times for CO2. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

A 70 GeV Proton Synchrotron Extracted Beam Lines Control System is described. About 130 Magnet Dipoles and Quadrupoles, 20 Correction Magnets, 50 Beam Collimators, BPM equipment spread over 1 Km have to be controlled. The old System was based on the PDP-11/40 and LSI-11 compatible computers and the MIL 1553 STD as a Field Bus. It successfully operated about 15 years. A new system includes home made Equipment Controllers based on I 8051 Processors, CAN Field Bus, FECs, Servers, Consoles connected by Ethernet. On the first stage of modernization PDPs and LSIs are replaced with PCs connected by Ethernet. 18. Mudflow hazard in the foothill and mountainous regions of Uzbekistan

Abstract

The article presents the results of research work on the study of mudflows in the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan and transboundary territories. The relevance of studies of mudflow phenomena is determined by the intensive development of economic and recreational development of mountain and foothill territories, which in the conditions of the Republic of Uzbekistan are subject to mudflow processes that cause material damage to the objects of the national economy and are often accompanied by human casualties. About a thousand active mudflow channels have been counted in the study area, of which over 270 descend into the Fergana Valley. The most mudflow-prone regions in Uzbekistan are: Namangan - 19% of all registered mudflows, Fergana - 16%, Surkhandarya - 13%, Tashkent - 12%, Kashkadarya - 11% and Samarkand - 9%. In general, the Fergana Valley accounts for 41% of the total number of all registered mudflows. A sharp increase in mudflow activity is observed in April and May. During these months, respectively, 25% and 35% of mudflows descended. As a rule, these are mudflows that came down as a result of a large amount of precipitation. The most mudflow-prone regions in Uzbekistan are: Namangan - 19% of all registered mudflows, Fergana - 16%, Surkhandarya - 13%, Tashkent - 12%, Kashkadarya - 11% and Samarkand - 9%. In general, the Fergana Valley accounts for 41% of the total number of all registered mudflows.
