1. Wetting-Layer-Assisted Synthesis of Inverted CdSe/PbSe Quantum Dots and their Photophysical and Photo-Electrical Properties

Abstract: Heterostructured quantum dots (QDs) based on narrow-gap PbSe and wide-gap CdSe have been studied with an eye on their prospective applications in near-infrared (NIR) light sources, photodetectors, and solar cells. The most common structural motif is a spherical QD comprising a PbSe core enclosed into a CdSe shell. However, the potential barrier created by the CdSe shell complicates extraction of band-edge charge carriers from the QD. Therefore, conventional PbSe/CdSe QDs are not suitable for applications in practical photoconversion devices. Here we report inverted CdSe/PbSe core/shell QDs that overcome this drawback. In these structures, both photocarriers (electron and hole) exhibit a significant degree of shell localization and are therefore free to move within the QD solid and be extracted into an external circuit. To create such QDs, we employ a novel synthetic method in which a thin, atomically controlled wetting layer is used to homogenize the surface of the CdSe core and thus promote directionally uniform growth of the PbSe shell. Unlike noninverted QDs, inverted core/shell structures exhibit highly efficient photocarrier transport, making them excellent candidates for applications in practical photoconversion including photovoltaics, photodetection, and photochemistry., Comment: Total 39 pages, including main text, supporting information (SI), 5 main figures and 6 SI figures

2. Photocurrent Enhancement due to Spin-Exchange Carrier Multiplication in Films of Manganese-Doped 'Inverted' CdSe/HgSe Quantum Dots

Abstract: Incorporation of manganese impurities into II-VI semiconductors results in a dramatic change in their properties due to strong exchange interactions between the Mn ion and the semiconductor host. In colloidal quantum dots (QDs), these interactions result in a rapid bidirectional energy transfer between the magnetic impurity and the QD intrinsic states, which is characterized by an extremely high energy transfer rate of more than ~5 eV/ps. This rate is higher than the rate of energy loss due to phonon emission (typically, ~1 eV/ps or less), so Mn-QD interactions could in principle be used to capture and utilize the kinetic energy of the hot carrier before it is lost to phonons. Here, we demonstrate that by using Mn-doped CdSe/HgSe core/shell QDs, we can efficiently convert the kinetic energy of a hot exciton into an additional electron-hole pair (exciton). This carrier multiplication process occurs through rapid capture of a hot exciton by a Mn ion, which then undergoes spin flip relaxation, producing two excitons near the QD band edge. Abstract: A remarkable characteristic of quantum computing is the potential for reliable computation despite faulty qubits. This can be achieved through quantum error correction, which is typically implemented by repeatedly applying static syndrome checks, permitting correction of logical information. Recently, the development of time-dynamic approaches to error correction has uncovered new codes and new code implementations. In this work, we experimentally demonstrate three time-dynamic implementations of the surface code, each offering a unique solution to hardware design challenges and introducing flexibility in surface code realization. First, we embed the surface code on a hexagonal lattice, reducing the necessary couplings per qubit from four to three. Second, we walk a surface code, swapping the role of data and measure qubits each round, achieving error correction with built-in removal of accumulated non-computational errors. Finally, we realize the surface code using iSWAP gates instead of the traditional CNOT, extending the set of viable gates for error correction without additional overhead. We measure the error suppression factor when scaling from distance-3 to distance-5 codes of $\Lambda_{35,\text{hex}} = 2.15(2)$, $\Lambda_{35,\text{walk}} = 1.69(6)$, and $\Lambda_{35,\text{iSWAP}} = 1.56(2)$, achieving state-of-the-art error suppression for each. With detailed error budgeting, we explore their performance trade-offs and implications for hardware design. Abstract: Quantum error correction is essential for bridging the gap between the error rates of physical devices and the extremely low logical error rates required for quantum algorithms. Recent error-correction demonstrations on superconducting processors have focused primarily on the surface code, which offers a high error threshold but poses limitations for logical operations. In contrast, the color code enables much more efficient logic, although it requires more complex stabilizer measurements and decoding techniques. Measuring these stabilizers in planar architectures such as superconducting qubits is challenging, and so far, realizations of color codes have not addressed performance scaling with code size on any platform. Here, we present a comprehensive demonstration of the color code on a superconducting processor, achieving logical error suppression and performing logical operations. Scaling the code distance from three to five suppresses logical errors by a factor of $\Lambda_{3/5}$ = 1.56(4). Simulations indicate this performance is below the threshold of the color code, and furthermore that the color code may be more efficient than the surface code with modest device improvements. Using logical randomized benchmarking, we find that transversal Clifford gates add an error of only 0.0027(3), which is substantially less than the error of an idling error correction cycle. We inject magic states, a key resource for universal computation, achieving fidelities exceeding 99% with post-selection (retaining about 75% of the data). Finally, we successfully teleport logical states between distance-three color codes using lattice surgery, with teleported state fidelities between 86.5(1)% and 90.7(1)%. This work establishes the color code as a compelling research direction to realize fault-tolerant quantum computation on superconducting processors in the near future.

5. Homeostasis and Sparsity in Transformer

Abstract: The transformer architecture has become an integral part of the field of modern neural networks, playing a crucial role in a variety of tasks, such as text generation, machine translation, image and audio processing, among others. There is also an alternative approach to building intelligent systems, proposed by Jeff Hawkins and inspired by the processes occurring in the neocortex. In our article we want to combine some of these ideas and to propose the use of homeostasis mechanisms, such as RFB-kWTA and "Smart" Inhibition, in the attention mechanism of the transformer and at the output of the transformer block, as well as conducting an experiment involving the introduction of sparse distributed representations of the transformer at various points. RFB-kWTA utilizes statistics of layer activations across time to adjust the entire layer, enhancing the values of rare activations while reducing those of frequent ones. "Smart" Inhibition also uses activation statistics to sample sparsity masks, with rarer activation times are more likely to be activated. Our proposed mechanisms significantly outperform the classical transformer 0.2768 BLEU and a model that only makes use of dropout in the attention mechanism and output of the transformer block 0.3007 BLEU, achieving a score of 0.3062 on the Multi30K dataset.

Abstract: The NOvA collaboration reports cross-section measurements for $\nu_{\mu}$ charged-current interactions with low hadronic energy (maximum kinetic energy of 250 MeV for protons and 175 MeV for pions) in the NOvA Near Detector. The results are presented as a double-differential cross section as a function of the direct observables of the final-state muon kinematics. Results are also presented as a single-differential cross section as a function of the derived square of the four-momentum transfer, $Q^{2}$, and as a function of the derived neutrino energy. The data correspond to an accumulated 8.09$\times10^{20}$ protons-on-target (POT) in the neutrino mode of the NuMI beam, with a narrow band of neutrino energies peaked at 1.8 GeV. The analysis provides a sample of neutrino-nucleus interactions with an enhanced fraction of quasi-elastic and two-particle-two-hole (2p2h) interactions. This enhancement allows quantitative comparisons with various nuclear models. We find strong disagreement between data and theory-based models in various regions of the muon kinematic phase space, especially in the forward muon direction., Comment: 20 pages, 12 figures. Abstract: One of the most challenging problems in the computational study of localization in quantum manybody systems is to capture the effects of rare events, which requires sampling over exponentially many disorder realizations. We implement an efficient procedure on a quantum processor, leveraging quantum parallelism, to efficiently sample over all disorder realizations. We observe localization without disorder in quantum many-body dynamics in one and two dimensions: perturbations do not diffuse even though both the generator of evolution and the initial states are fully translationally invariant. The disorder strength as well as its density can be readily tuned using the initial state. Furthermore, we demonstrate the versatility of our platform by measuring Renyi entropies. Our method could also be extended to higher moments of the physical observables and disorder learning.

Abstract: Double- and single-differential cross sections for inclusive charged-current neutrino-nucleus scattering are reported for the kinematic domain 0 to 2 GeV/c in three-momentum transfer and 0 to 2 GeV in available energy, at a mean muon-neutrino energy of 1.86 GeV. The measurements are based on an estimated 995,760 muon-neutrino CC interactions in the scintillator medium of the NOvA Near Detector. The subdomain populated by 2-particle-2-hole reactions is identified by the cross-section excess relative to predictions for neutrino-nucleus scattering that are constrained by a data control sample. Models for 2-particle-2- hole processes are rated by chi-square comparisons of the predicted-versus-measured muon-neutrino CC inclusive cross section over the full phase space and in the restricted subdomain. Shortfalls are observed in neutrino generator predictions obtained using the theory-based Val`encia and SuSAv2 2p2h models., Comment: 20 pages, 15 figures. Abstract: Lattice gauge theories (LGTs) can be employed to understand a wide range of phenomena, from elementary particle scattering in high-energy physics to effective descriptions of many-body interactions in materials. Studying dynamical properties of emergent phases can be challenging as it requires solving many-body problems that are generally beyond perturbative limits. We investigate the dynamics of local excitations in a $\mathbb{Z}_2$ LGT using a two-dimensional lattice of superconducting qubits. We first construct a simple variational circuit which prepares low-energy states that have a large overlap with the ground state; then we create particles with local gates and simulate their quantum dynamics via a discretized time evolution. As the effective magnetic field is increased, our measurements show signatures of transitioning from deconfined to confined dynamics. For confined excitations, the magnetic field induces a tension in the string connecting them. Our method allows us to experimentally image string dynamics in a (2+1)D LGT from which we uncover two distinct regimes inside the confining phase: for weak confinement the string fluctuates strongly in the transverse direction, while for strong confinement transverse fluctuations are effectively frozen. In addition, we demonstrate a resonance condition at which dynamical string breaking is facilitated. Our LGT implementation on a quantum processor presents a novel set of techniques for investigating emergent particle and string dynamics.

Abstract: Quantum error correction provides a path to reach practical quantum computing by combining multiple physical qubits into a logical qubit, where the logical error rate is suppressed exponentially as more qubits are added. However, this exponential suppression only occurs if the physical error rate is below a critical threshold. In this work, we present two surface code memories operating below this threshold: a distance-7 code and a distance-5 code integrated with a real-time decoder. The logical error rate of our larger quantum memory is suppressed by a factor of $\Lambda$ = 2.14 $\pm$ 0.02 when increasing the code distance by two, culminating in a 101-qubit distance-7 code with 0.143% $\pm$ 0.003% error per cycle of error correction. This logical memory is also beyond break-even, exceeding its best physical qubit's lifetime by a factor of 2.4 $\pm$ 0.3. We maintain below-threshold performance when decoding in real time, achieving an average decoder latency of 63 $\mu$s at distance-5 up to a million cycles, with a cycle time of 1.1 $\mu$s. Abstract: The Extreme Universe Space Observatory on a Super Pressure Balloon 2 (EUSO-SPB2) flew on May 13$^{\text{th}}$ and 14$^{\text{th}}$ of 2023. Consisting of two novel optical telescopes, the payload utilized next-generation instrumentation for the observations of extensive air showers from near space. One instrument, the fluorescence telescope (FT) searched for Ultra-High Energy Cosmic Rays (UHECRs) by recording the atmosphere below the balloon in the near-UV with a 1~$\mu$s time resolution using 108 multi-anode photomultiplier tubes with a total of 6,912 channels. Validated by pre-flight measurements during a field campaign, the energy threshold was estimated around 2~EeV with an expected event rate of approximately 1 event per 10 hours of observation. Based on the limited time afloat, the expected number of UHECR observations throughout the flight is between 0 and 2. Consistent with this expectation, no UHECR candidate events have been found. The majority of events appear to be detector artifacts that were not rejected properly due to a shortened commissioning phase. Despite the earlier-than-expected termination of the flight, data were recorded which provide insights into the detectors stability in the near-space environment as well as the diffuse ultraviolet emissivity of the atmosphere, both of which are impactful to future experiments.

15. Optimization of decoder priors for accurate quantum error correction

Abstract: Accurate decoding of quantum error-correcting codes is a crucial ingredient in protecting quantum information from decoherence. It requires characterizing the error channels corrupting the logical quantum state and providing this information as a prior to the decoder. We introduce a reinforcement learning inspired method for calibrating these priors that aims to minimize the logical error rate. Our method significantly improves the decoding accuracy in repetition and surface code memory experiments executed on Google's Sycamore processor, outperforming the leading decoder-agnostic method by 16% and 3.3% respectively. This calibration approach will serve as an important tool for maximizing the performance of both near-term and future error-corrected quantum devices.

Abstract: Understanding how interacting particles approach thermal equilibrium is a major challenge of quantum simulators. Unlocking the full potential of such systems toward this goal requires flexible initial state preparation, precise time evolution, and extensive probes for final state characterization. We present a quantum simulator comprising 69 superconducting qubits which supports both universal quantum gates and high-fidelity analog evolution, with performance beyond the reach of classical simulation in cross-entropy benchmarking experiments. Emulating a two-dimensional (2D) XY quantum magnet, we leverage a wide range of measurement techniques to study quantum states after ramps from an antiferromagnetic initial state. We observe signatures of the classical Kosterlitz-Thouless phase transition, as well as strong deviations from Kibble-Zurek scaling predictions attributed to the interplay between quantum and classical coarsening of the correlated domains. This interpretation is corroborated by injecting variable energy density into the initial state, which enables studying the effects of the eigenstate thermalization hypothesis (ETH) in targeted parts of the eigenspectrum. Finally, we digitally prepare the system in pairwise-entangled dimer states and image the transport of energy and vorticity during thermalization. These results establish the efficacy of superconducting analog-digital quantum processors for preparing states across many-body spectra and unveiling their thermalization dynamics.

Abstract: Bus factor (BF) is a metric that tracks knowledge distribution in a project. It is the minimal number of engineers that have to leave for a project to stall. Despite the fact that there are several algorithms for calculating the bus factor, only a few tools allow easy calculation of bus factor and convenient analysis of results for projects hosted on Git-based providers. We introduce Bus Factor Explorer, a web application that provides an interface and an API to compute, export, and explore the Bus Factor metric via treemap visualization, simulation mode, and chart editor. It supports repositories hosted on GitHub and enables functionality to search repositories in the interface and process many repositories at the same time. Our tool allows users to identify the files and subsystems at risk of stalling in the event of developer turnover by analyzing the VCS history. Abstract: This Letter reports a search for charge-parity ($CP$) symmetry violating nonstandard interactions (NSI) of neutrinos with matter using the NOvA Experiment, and examines their effects on the determination of the standard oscillation parameters. Data from $\nu_{\mu}(\bar{\nu}_{\mu})\rightarrow\nu_{\mu}(\bar{\nu}_{\mu})$ and $\nu_{\mu}(\bar{\nu}_{\mu})\rightarrow\nu_{e}(\bar{\nu}_{e})$ oscillation channels are used to measure the effect of the NSI parameters $\varepsilon_{e\mu}$ and $\varepsilon_{e\tau}$. With 90% CL the magnitudes of the NSI couplings are constrained to be $|\varepsilon_{e\mu}| \, \lesssim 0.3$ and $|\varepsilon_{e\tau}| \, \lesssim 0.4$. A degeneracy at $|\varepsilon_{e\tau}| \, \approx 1.8$ is reported, and we observe that the presence of NSI limits sensitivity to the standard $CP$ phase $\delta_{\tiny\text{CP}}$.

Abstract: The Extreme Universe Space Observatory on a Super Pressure Balloon 1 (EUSO-SPB1) was launched in 2017 April from Wanaka, New Zealand. The plan of this mission of opportunity on a NASA super pressure balloon test flight was to circle the southern hemisphere. The primary scientific goal was to make the first observations of ultra-high-energy cosmic-ray extensive air showers (EASs) by looking down on the atmosphere with an ultraviolet (UV) fluorescence telescope from suborbital altitude (33~km). After 12~days and 4~hours aloft, the flight was terminated prematurely in the Pacific Ocean. Before the flight, the instrument was tested extensively in the West Desert of Utah, USA, with UV point sources and lasers. The test results indicated that the instrument had sensitivity to EASs of approximately 3 EeV. Simulations of the telescope system, telescope on time, and realized flight trajectory predicted an observation of about 1 event assuming clear sky conditions. The effects of high clouds were estimated to reduce this value by approximately a factor of 2. A manual search and a machine-learning-based search did not find any EAS signals in these data. Abstract: Abstract Background Among minute-sized and wingless arthropods, astigmatid mites stand out for their diverse range of symbiotic associations (parasitic, neutral and mutualistic), with both invertebrate and vertebrate hosts. When inhabiting discontinuous and ephemeral environments, astigmatid mites adapt their life cycle to produce a phoretic heteromorphic nymph. When feeding resources are depleted, phoretic nymphs disperse to new habitats through phoresy, attaching to a larger animal which transports them to new locations. This dispersal strategy is crucial for accessing patchy resources, otherwise beyond the reach of these minute arthropods. In Astigmata, the phoretic nymph is highly specialized for dispersal, equipped with an attachment organ and lacking a mouth and pharynx. Despite the common occurrence of phoretic associations in modern mites, their evolutionary origins remain poorly understood. Among Astigmata, the family Schizoglyphidae represents an early derivative lineage with phoretic tritonymphs; however, our knowledge of this family is limited to a single observation. Results Here, we report the oldest biotic association of arthropods fossilised in amber (~ 130 Ma, Lebanon): an alate termite with 16 phoretic tritonymphs of Schizoglyphidae (Plesioglyphus lebanotermi gen. et sp. n.). The mites are primarily attached to the membranes of the host’s hindwings, using their attachment organs, pretarsal claws and tarsal setae. Additionally, we report new modern phoretic tritonymphs of this same family, on one of the earliest lineages of termites. These data collectively indicate that schizoglyphid-termite associations represent the oldest continuous mite-host associations. Notably, phoretic schizoglyphids retain a distinct mouth and pharynx, whereas these structures are absent in the modern phoretic stages of non-schizoglyphid Astigmata. Conclusion The discovery of Schizoglyphidae mites in Lebanese amber represents the oldest known continuous association between acariform mites and their hosts. This finding demonstrates the long-term evolutionary significance of phoresy in Astigmata, evidencing a relationship sustained for over 130 Ma. It indicates that these early mites lived inside termite nests as inquilines and used alate termites for dispersal. This ancient association offers key insights into the coevolution of both mites and termites, highlighting a potential for the future discoveries of similar mites. This fossil —a stem-group Astigmata— is important for the accurate calibration of acariform mite phylogenies, advancing our understanding of these mites evolutionary history.

40. The Composition of Phytocenoses in Forest Burnt Areas of Buryatia

Abstract: Data on the species composition and abundance of woody and shrubby vegetation in burnt areas of southern Transbaikalia are presented. The object of the study is a large burnt area in the forest fund of the Khorinsky forestry of the Republic of Buryatia. Phytocenoses are located on sandy soils, on various relief elements at an altitude of 676 to 845 m above sea level – from the foothills to the tops of gentle hills. The vegetation of all forest components has been recorded along free routes on circular survey sites with a radius of 1,785 m. Adjacent to each other, they have formed a counting tape. At least 30 survey plots have been established at each experimental site. It has been established that the vegetation composition and the proportion of species at the study sites differ. In the burnt areas 14–15 years old, the presence of 15–18 plant species in the living ground cover has been noted. The maximum projective cover – more than 5 % – is found in 6 species: Vaccinium vitis-idaea L., Calamagrostis arundinacea (L.) Roth, Carex pseudocyperus L., Avenella flexuosa (L.) Drejer, Lichenes sp. L., Bryidae sp. Engl. 6 species have been identified in the undergrowth, the most prevalent being Sorbus aucuparia subsp. Sibirica (Hedl.) Krylov, Viburnum burejaeticum Regel & Herder and Juniperus sibirica Burgsd. It has been shown that the range of variation in the number of undergrowth by study objects has been 190–673 pcs/ha. The young growth is formed by Scots pine in numbers ranging from 27 to 62 pcs/ha. It has been indicated that the main reason for the small number of self-seeding pine trees has been the extreme soil surface temperatures in the summer. The maximum temperature of 63 °C has been recorded in the mineralized part of the soil, which causes protein denaturation in the endosperm and loss of seed germination. Emphasis is placed on the large proportion of the mineralized surface as a consequence of wind and water erosion. In some experimental sites, the mineralized surface area has exceeded 18 %. The results obtained can be used in the design of reforestation measures, in geobotanical research and in the educational process.

Abstract: Research relevance. Modes accompanied by increased sliding of a wheel with negative viscous friction, characterized by reduction of friction force at growth of sliding speed, can arise at the movement of the vehicle. In these cases, a loss of stability may occur, resulting in the excitation of auto-oscillation phenomena in the electromechanical system (road-wheel-mechanical drive-electric motor). The emergence of this process sharply increases the dynamic load of the system, which can lead to its failure or breakdown. As a consequence, the development of suppression methods of auto-oscillation phenomena is considered to be an urgent task.Purpose of the research. Verification of operability and efficiency of the suppression method of auto oscillations in the electromechanical system of wheel drive during braking of the vehicle.Materials and Methods. With the help of Lyapunov’ function analysis for the electromechanical system of wheel drive the suppression method of auto oscillation phenomena is substantiated. The study of the algorithm performance has been carried out with the use of MATLAB Simulink program complex.Research results. The operability and efficiency of the algorithm is proved by methods of simulation mathematical modeling, which allows its further use in the development of traffic control systems. In case of braking of the vehicle equipped with antilock braking system with the function of suppression of auto oscillations on a slippery support base the reduction of amplitudes oscillation of angular velocities of wheels by 80% and braking moments by 96% is observed. When this vehicle is braked on a high adhesion base, the amplitudes are reduced by 98% in angular velocities and 81% in torques. In simulation modeling of vehicle braking dynamics on a support base with low adhesion properties it has also been shown that in these cases the evasive maneuver can be performed, which indicates on the increase in controllability and active safety of the vehicle.Conclusion. The practical value of the study lies in the possibility of using the developed algorithm for suppressing auto oscillations in practical application as part of vehicle control systems. The developed algorithm can be used on vehicles of different classes equipped with individual traction electric drive of driving wheels.

Abstract: The paper presents results of the experimental study of geochemical processes in the “formation water – CO – rock” system at reservoir conditions for waterand oil-saturated intervals of several typical terrigenous and carbonate formations of Urals-Volga region. Compositions of formation water and dissolved gas are analyzed at each stage of the experiments, as well as mineral composition of core samples before and after the interaction. Based on the experimental results, a summarizing analysis is presented of possible physical and chemical processes occurring in the “formation water – CO2– rock” system during carbon dioxide injection into waterand oil-bearing formations. The results of the experiments allow us to highlight the significant effects of dissolution and resuspension of carbonates and halite during exposure of carbonized formation water with core material of different lithology and saturation character. In a number of experiments, significant changes in the iron and sulfate anions content were recorded, indicating the interaction of the solution with pyrite and gypsum. There were no significant qualitative and quantitative differences in the results of experiments with core material from water-saturated and oilsaturated intervals of the same lithology.

Abstract: The tripartite network, including the nervous, immune, and endocrine systems, plays a significant role in regulatory and effector processes in the male body. On the one hand, males perform their reproduction function by generating spermatozoa in conditions of self-tolerance maintenance because most spermatozoa antigens (“sequestrated antigens”) are unknown to the immune system. On the other hand, in everyday life, a male body encounters hostile external infections, some of which colonize the skin and barrier surfaces and present a cancer threat to male genital tracts. This is human papillomavirus (HPV), the “silent killer”. Therefore, the male immune system has to function in a contradictory situation using either active immune responses, self-tolerance mechanisms, or both simultaneously. This review focused on the functional organization of the male immune system, including its coordination with the nervous and endocrine systems, and immune processes at the level of the whole organism, as well as on obvious changes, which have currently happened. The male immune system should function in conditions of the strong influence of testosterone and biosocial impulses coming from the nervous system. In the last century, researchers obtained data showing a decrease in the male reproduction function because of a stable negative dynamic of spermatozoa count and quality. Nowadays, depressing statistical indicators of male fertility have been published. 15% of couples are unable to conceive a child, where 50% of the causes of infertility relate to males, and up to 15% of male infertility cases are due to immunological disorders. It can be assumed that the male immune system starts to function when self-tolerance is partially lost, and the previous balance has been destroyed. Furthermore, sperm allergy has become a new topic in male immunology.

Abstract: JEM--EUSO is an international program for the development of space-based Ultra-High Energy Cosmic Ray observatories. The program consists of a series of missions which are either under development or in the data analysis phase. All instruments are based on a wide-field-of-view telescope, which operates in the near-UV range, designed to detect the fluorescence light emitted by extensive air showers in the atmosphere. We describe the simulation software ESAFin the framework of the JEM--EUSO program and explain the physical assumptions used. We present here the implementation of the JEM--EUSO, POEMMA, K--EUSO, TUS, Mini--EUSO, EUSO--SPB1 and EUSO--TA configurations in ESAF. For the first time ESAF simulation outputs are compared with experimental data.

Abstract: NOvA is a long-baseline neutrino oscillation experiment that measures oscillations in charged-current $\nu_{\mu} \rightarrow \nu_{\mu}$ (disappearance) and $\nu_{\mu} \rightarrow \nu_{e}$ (appearance) channels, and their antineutrino counterparts, using neutrinos of energies around 2 GeV over a distance of 810 km. In this work we reanalyze the dataset first examined in our previous paper [Phys. Rev. D 106, 032004 (2022)] using an alternative statistical approach based on Bayesian Markov Chain Monte Carlo. We measure oscillation parameters consistent with the previous results. We also extend our inferences to include the first NOvA measurements of the reactor mixing angle $\theta_{13}$ and the Jarlskog invariant. We use these results to quantify the strength of our inferences about CP violation, as well as to examine the effects of constraints from short-baseline measurements of $\theta_{13}$ using antineutrinos from nuclear reactors when making NOvA measurements of $\theta_{23}$. Our long-baseline measurement of $\theta_{13}$ is also shown to be consistent with the reactor measurements, supporting the general applicability and robustness of the PMNS framework for neutrino oscillations., Comment: 20 pages, 17 figures; version accepted by Phys. Abstract: Recently, canted antiferromagnets offer great potential for fundamental research and applications due to their unique properties. The presence of the Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction leads to the existence of a weak ferromagnetic moment at room temperature. We study both theoretically and experimentally microwave spin pumping by the quasi-ferromagnetic mode from a canted easy plane antiferromagnet with weak ferromagnetism FeBO3. The conversion of a microwave signal into the constant voltage is realized using the inverse spin Hall effect in an iron borate/heavy metal heterostructure. We use an additional bias magnetic field to selectively tune the resonance frequency of such a microwave detector over a wide range up to 43.5 GHz with potential sensitivity near 2.5 microV/W. We confirm the pure spin current nature by changing polarity of the detected via inverse spin Hall effect voltage by switching the direction of the bias magnetic field. Abstract: The second generation Extreme Universe Space Observatory on a Super-Pressure Balloon (EUSO-SPB2) mission is a stratospheric balloon mission developed within the Joint Exploratory Missions for Extreme Universe Space Observatory (JEM-EUSO) program. The Fluorescence Telescope (FT) is one of the two separate Schmidt telescopes of EUSO-SPB2, which aims at measuring the fluorescence emission of extensive air showers from cosmic rays above the energy of 1 EeV, looking downwards onto the atmosphere from the float altitude of 33 km. The FT measures photons with a time resolution of 1.05 $\mu$s in two different modes: single photon counting (PC) and charge integration (KI). In this paper, we describe the latter and report on the measurements of its characteristics. We also present a new trigger based on this channel, the so-called KI trigger, which allows to measure additional types of events, namely very short and intense light pulses. We report on the tests of this trigger mode in the laboratory and at the TurLab facility, and its implementation in the EUSO-SPB2 mission.

Abstract: Mini-EUSO is a wide Field-of-View (FoV, 44$^{\circ}$) telescope currently in operation from a nadia-facing UV-transparent window in the Russian Zvezda module on the International Space Station (ISS). It is the first detector of the JEM-EUSO program deployed on the ISS, launched in August 2019. The main goal of Mini-EUSO is to measure the UV emissions from the ground and atmosphere, using an orbital platform. Mini-EUSO is mainly sensitive in the 290-430 nm bandwidth. Light is focused by a system of two Fresnel lenses of 25 cm diameter each on the Photo- Detector-Module (PDM), which consists of an array of 36 Multi-Anode Photomultiplier Tubes (MAPMTs), for a total of 2304 pixels working in photon counting mode, in three different time resolutions of 2.5 ${\mu}$s, 320 ${\mu}$s, 40.96 ms operation in parallel. In the longest time scale, the data is continuously acquired to monitor the UV emission of the Earth. It is best suited for the observation of ground sources and therefore has been used for the observational campaigns of the Mini-EUSO. In this contribution, we present the assembled UV flasher, the operation of the field campaign and the analysis of the obtained data. The result is compared with the overall efficiency computed from the expectations which takes into account the atmospheric attenuation and the parameterization of different effects such as the optics efficiency, the MAPMT detection efficiency, BG3 filter transmittance and the transparency of the ISS window.
