The advent of computational and numerical methods in recent times has provided new avenues for analyzing art historiographical narratives and tracing the evolution of art styles therein. Here, we investigate an evolutionary process underpinning the emergence and stylization of contemporary user-generated visual art styles using the complexity-entropy (C-H) plane, which quantifies local structures in paintings. Informatizing 149,780 images curated in DeviantArt and Behance platforms from 2010 to 2020, we analyze the relationship between local information of the C-H space and multi-level image features generated by a deep neural network and a feature extraction algorithm. The results reveal significant statistical relationships between the C-H information of visual artistic styles and the dissimilarities of the multi-level image features over time within groups of artworks. By disclosing a particular C-H region where the diversity of image representations is noticeably manifested, our analyses reveal an empirical condition of emerging styles that are both novel in the C-H plane and characterized by greater stylistic diversity. EHR audit logs are a highly granular stream of events that capture clinician activities, and is a significant area of interest for research in characterizing clinician workflow on the electronic health record (EHR). Existing techniques to measure the complexity of workflow through EHR audit logs (audit logs) involve time- or frequency-based cross-sectional aggregations that are unable to capture the full complexity of a EHR session. Are 5G connection and UAVs merely parts of an extravagant and luxurious world, or are they essential parts of a practical world in a way we have yet to see? To aid in a direction to address the issue, we provide a practical framework for immersive aerial monitoring for public safety. Because the framework is built on top of actual realizations and implementations designed to fulfill specific use cases, high level of practicality is ensured by nature. We first investigate 5G network performance on UAVs by isolating performance for different aspects of expected flight missions. Cognitive radio (CR) is a key enabler realizing future networks to achieve higher spectral efficiency by allowing spectrum sharing between different wireless networks. It is important to explore whether spectrum access opportunities are available, but conventional CR based on transmitter (TX) sensing cannot be used to this end because the paired receiver (RX) may experience different levels of interference, according to the extent of their separation, blockages, and beam directions. To address this problem, this paper proposes a novel form of medium access control (MAC) termed sense-and-predict (SaP), whereby each secondary TX predicts the interference level at the RX based on the sensed interference at the TX; this can be quantified in terms of a spatial interference correlation between the two locations. Using stochastic geometry, the spatial interference correlation can be expressed in the form of a conditional coverage probability, such that the signal-to-interference ratio (SIR) at the RX is no less than a predetermined threshold given the sensed interference at the TX, defined as an opportunistic probability (OP). The secondary TX randomly accesses the spectrum depending on OP. We optimize the SaP framework to maximize the area spectral efficiencies (ASEs) of secondary networks while guaranteeing the service quality of the primary networks. Testbed experiments using USRP and MATLAB simulations show that SaP affords higher ASEs compared with CR without prediction.

Signal occlusion by building blockages is a double-edged sword for the performance of millimeter-wave (mmW) communication networks. Buildings may dominantly attenuate the useful signals, especially when mmW base stations (BSs) are sparsely deployed compared to the building density. In the opposite BS deployment, buildings can block the undesired interference. To enjoy only the benefit, we propose a building-aware association scheme that adjusts the directional BS association bias of the user equipments (UEs), based on a given building density and the concentration of UE locations around the buildings. The association of each BS can thereby be biased: (i) toward the UEs located against buildings for avoiding interference to other UEs; or (ii) toward the UEs providing their maximum reference signal received powers (RSRPs). The proposed association scheme is optimized to maximize the downlink average data rate derived by stochastic geometry. The ultimate value of theories of the fundamental mechanisms comprising the asset price in financial systems will be reflected in the capacity of such theories to understand these systems. Although the models that explain the various states of financial markets offer substantial evidences from the fields of finance, mathematics, and even physics to explain states observed in the real financial markets, previous theories that attempt to fully explain the complexities of financial markets have been inadequate. In this study, we propose an artificial double auction market as an agent-based model approach to study the origin of complex states in the financial markets, characterizing important parameters with an investment strategy that can cover the dynamics of the financial market. The investment strategy of chartist traders after market information arrives should reduce market stability originating in the price fluctuations of risky assets. However, fundamentalist traders strategically submit orders with a fundamental value and, thereby stabilize the market. We construct a continuous double auction market and find that the market is controlled by a fraction of chartists, P_{c}. We show that mimicking real financial markets state, which emerges in real financial systems, is given between approximately P_{c} = 0.40 and P_{c} = 0.85, but that mimicking the efficient market hypothesis state can be generated in a range of less than P_{c} = 0.40. In particular, we observe that the mimicking market collapse state created in a value greater than P_{c} = 0.85, in which a liquidity shortage occurs, and the phase transition behavior is P_{c} = 0.85., Comment: 17 pages, 10 figures
