Concerns regarding inappropriate leakage of sensitive personal information as well as unauthorized data use are increasing with the growth of genomic data repositories. Therefore, privacy and security of genomic data have become increasingly important and need to be studied. With many proposed protection techniques, their applicability in support of biomedical research should be well understood. For this purpose, we have organized a community effort in the past 8 years through the integrating data for analysis, anonymization and sharing consortium to address this practical challenge. In this article, we summarize our experience from these competitions, report lessons learned from the events in 2020/2021 as examples, and discuss potential future research directions in this emerging field.

Given the limited research that recognizes volunteers as significant workforce assets and sources of human capital in rural communities, this study investigated how rural festival volunteers' motivation, psychological ownership, and community involvement impact their support of community development. A sample of 373 volunteers from 12 rural festivals in Iowa, Michigan, and Kansas revealed significant relationships among variables that foster community support. In particular, three motivation factors – value, social, and enhancement – were found to significantly influence psychological ownership, which sequentially influenced community involvement and support. This study provides unique insight into volunteers' roles in rural communities, highlighting psychological ownership as a significant mediating factor from a community capitals perspective. Results suggest that rural festival organizers should be advised to collaborate with community developers to attract and motivate volunteers. These entities may be most successful in rural community development by fostering a strong sense of psychological ownership, building community involvement, and developing support networks among rural festival volunteers. The aim of this study was to identify differentially expressed lncRNAs (DElncRNAs) and mRNAs (DEmRNAs) in the endometrium of individuals with and without endometriosis (EMS) during the proliferative (P) and secretory (S) phases of the menstrual cycle. Tissues were obtained from 18 control (CT; P-phase [pCT], n = 8; S-phase [sCT], n = 13) and 23 EMS patients (P-phase [pEMS], n = 13; S-phase [sEMS], n = 12). DElncRNAs and DEmRNAs were analyzed using total RNA-sequencing. In P-phase, expression of NONHSAG019742.2 and NONHSAT120701.2 was significantly higher in EMS than control patients, that of while NONHSAG048398.2 and NONHSAG016560.2 was lower in EMS patients. In S-phase, expression of NONHSAT000959.2, NONHSAT203423.1, and NONHSAG053769.2 was significantly increased in EMS patients, while that of NONHSAG012105.2 and NONHSAG020839.2 was lower. In addition, the expression of HSD11B2, THBS1, GPX3, and SHISA6 was similar to that of neighboring lncRNAs in both P- and S-phases. In contrast, ELP3 and NR4A1, respectively, were up- or downregulated in pEMS tissues. In sEMS, expression of LAMB3 and HIF1A was increased, while expression of PAM was reduced. Our findings on lncRNAs and mRNAs encourage not only exploration of the potential clinical applications of lncRNAs and mRNAs as prognostic or diagnostic biomarkers for EMS but also to gain valuable insights into its pathogenesis. To better understand environmental electromagnetic wave exposure during the use of digital textbooks by elementary school students, we measured numeric values of the electromagnetic fields produced by tablet personal computers (TPCs). Specifically, we examined the distribution of the electromagnetic waves for various students' seating positions in an elementary school that uses digital textbooks. Electric and magnetic fields from TPCs were measured using the HI-3603 Visual Display Terminal/ Very Low Frequency (VDT/VLF) radiation measurement system. Electromagnetic field values from TPCs measured at a student's seat and at a teacher's computer were deemed not harmful to health. However, electromagnetic field values varied based on the distance between students, other electronic devices such as a desktop computers, and student posture while using a TPC. Based on these results, it is necessary to guide students to observe proper posture and to arrange seats at an appropriate distance in the classroom.

Purpose: Current faculty development (FD) programs are mostly limited to medical education and often lack a comprehensive and systematic structure. Therefore, the present study aimed to explore the current status and needs of FD programs in medical schools to provide a basis for establishing FD strategies. Methods: We conducted an online survey of medical school FD staff and professors regarding FD. Frequency, regression, and qualitative content analyses were conducted. FD programs were categorized into the classification frameworks. Results: A total of 17 FD staff and 256 professors at 37 medical schools participated. There are gaps between the internal and external FD programs offered by medical schools and their needs, and there are gaps between the programs the professors participated in and their needs. Recent internal and external FD programs in medical schools have focused on educational methods, student assessment, and education in general. Medical schools have a high need for leadership and self-development, and student assessment. Furthermore, professors have a high need for leadership and self-development, and research. The number of participants, topics, and needs of FD programs varied depending on the characteristics of individual professors. Conclusion: Medical schools should expand their FD programs to meet the needs of individuals and the changing demands of modern medical education. The focus should be on comprehensive and responsive programs that cover various topics, levels, and methods. Tailored programs that consider professors’ professional roles, career stages, and personal interests are essential for effective FD. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The field of arts and health has been growing rapidly in the Republic of Korea (ROK) as a means to solve social problems with the development of arts and health government programs to prevent mental disorders and improve quality of life. This study addresses the history, policy and funding scale, practices, and challenges of the arts and health in the ROK and provides a global overview of different countries to guide development procedures and communicate directions to relevant stakeholders. Data were collected using various methods, including policy reports, grey literature, peer-reviewed articles, and open data provided by Statistics Korea. Progress has been made in identifying specific opportunities for the arts to address mental health concerns in the Korean society. Specialty and digital arts are emerging as new professional practices in the arts and health fields. Establishing new government agencies is the next challenge toward identifying and reaching a consensus among relevant stakeholders for the future development of arts and health in the ROK. Purpose: This study aims to develop and test an integrative model that examines the effects of customization and perceived employee authenticity on customer delight, which in turn influences customers' willingness to recommend (WTR) and willingness to pay a premium (WTPP) as outcomes in a hotel context. The moderating role of online review valence in this process is also examined. Design/methodology/approach: This study adopts a 2 (customization: low vs high) × 2 (perceived employee authenticity: low vs high) × 2 (online review valence: negative vs positive) experimental design. A total of 409 US consumers were recruited and randomly assigned to a hotel check-in scenario. Partial least squares structural equation modeling was used to test the hypothesized relationships. Findings: Findings confirmed the role of customer delight in mediating customization and employee authenticity on WTR and WTPP. In addition, perceived employee authenticity was a stronger driver of customer delight for consumers exposed to negative online reviews than for those exposed to positive reviews. Practical implications: The findings provide useful guidance in designing efficient service strategies for generating a delightful customer experience. Hotel practitioners should provide customized services and manage employees in a way that helps them deliver authentic services that achieve customer delight. Understanding that customer expectations formed through online reviews play a significant role in service evaluations, hotel managers make an extra effort to monitor online reviews and manage customer expectations. Originality/value: Although existing research suggests that customer delight plays an important role in positive consumer outcomes, there is still potential space to explore the theoretical mediational mechanisms underlying this effect and the moderating effect on this relationship between customer delight and consumer responses. This qualitative study used the grounded theory approach to analyze digital textbook-related health experiences of school-age children. In-depth interviews were held with 40 elementary school students who had used digital textbooks for at least a year. Data analysis revealed a total of 56 concepts, 20 subcategories, and 11 categories related to digital textbook health issues, the central phenomena being "health-related experiences." Students' health-related experiences were classified into "physical" and "psychological" symptoms. Adverse health effects related to digital textbook usage were addressed via both "student-led" and "instructor-led" coping strategies. Students' coping strategies were often inefficient, but instructor-led strategies seemed to prevent health problems. When health issues were well managed, students tended to accept digital textbooks as educational tools. Our findings suggest that students can form healthy computer habits if digital textbook usage is directed in a positive manner.
