Medical image analysis is critical for diagnosing and planning treatments, particularly in addressing heart disease, a leading cause of mortality worldwide. Precise segmentation of the left atrium, a key structure in cardiac imaging, is essential for detecting conditions such as atrial fibrillation, heart failure, and stroke. However, its complex anatomy, subtle boundaries, and inter-patient variations make accurate segmentation challenging for traditional methods. Recent advancements in deep learning, especially semantic segmentation, have shown promise in addressing these limitations by enabling detailed, pixel-wise classification. This study proposes a novel segmentation framework Adaptive Multiscale U-Net (AMU-Net) combining Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) and transformer-based encoder–decoder architectures. The framework introduces a Contextual Dynamic Encoder (CDE) for extracting multi-scale features and capturing long-range dependencies. An Adaptive Feature Decoder Block (AFDB), leveraging an Adaptive Feature Attention Block (AFAB) improves boundary delineation. Additionally, a Spectral Synthesis Fusion Head (SFFH) synthesizes spectral and spatial features, enhancing segmentation performance in low-contrast regions. To ensure robustness, data augmentation techniques such as rotation, scaling, and flipping are applied. Laplacian approximation is employed for uncertainty estimation, enabling interpretability and identifying regions of low confidence. Ginseng, a traditional herbal medicine with a long history of use, is known to support human health, particularly by influencing brain function. Recent studies have identified gintonin, a lysophosphatidic acid (LPA) receptor ligand derived from ginseng, as a key bioactive. However, the specific LPA receptor subtypes targeted by gintonin in the human brain to exert its anti-Alzheimer's (AD) effects remain unclear. This study aimed to elucidate the LPA receptor subtype targeted by gintonin in the human cortex. Using a fluorescent gintonin conjugate, we investigated receptor binding in cortical samples from healthy individuals (n = 4) and AD patients (n = 4). Our results demonstrated that fluorescent gintonin selectively binds to human cortical neurons rather than glial cells and that gintonin-binding sites are co-localized with the LPA4 receptor subtype. Furthermore, the expression of LPA4 receptors was significantly reduced in the cortical neurons of AD patients. These results suggest that the LPA4 receptor may serve as a novel histopathological marker for AD and represent a promising therapeutic target for gintonin-based prevention and treatment strategies. Recent studies have identified an imbalance between the electronic and ionic conductivities as the drivers of inhomogeneous reactions in composite cathodes, which cause the rapid degradation of all‐solid‐state battery (ASSB). To mitigate localized overcharge and utilize isolated active materials, the study proposes the coating of an argyrodite‐type Li6PS5Cl solid electrolyte (SE) with graphene‐like carbon (GLC@LPSCl), a 2D conductive material, to offer a continuous three‐dimensionally connected electron pathway within the composite cathode to facilitate ion mobility and promote homogeneous reactions. Despite reducing the content of the conducting agent, it is observed that the GLC@LPSCl cell exhibits high initial Coulombic efficiency and discharge capacity, reducing the inhomogeneous reactivity after 200 cycles compared with when ordinary conductive agents are deployed. Additionally, the presence of GLC@LPSCI surface suppresses the interfacial reaction between SE–cathode material, thus imparting the cell with excellent capacity retention (≈90%) after 200 cycles. Furthermore, the cell performance improves even after a fourfold increase in the cathode loading amount, demonstrating the criticality of a well‐developed continuous electron pathway to cell performance and highlighting the key role of ensuring a balance between the electron and ion conductivities in the development of high‐energy‐density and high‐power ASSBs. Relative positioning accuracy between two devices is dependent on the precise range measurements. Ultra-wideband (UWB) technology is one of the popular and widely used technologies to achieve centimeter-level accuracy in range measurement. Nevertheless, harsh indoor environments, multipath issues, reflections, and bias due to antenna delay degrade the range measurement performance in line-of-sight (LOS) and non-line-of-sight (NLOS) scenarios. This article proposes an efficient and robust method to mitigate range measurement error in LOS and NLOS conditions by combining the latest artificial intelligence technology. A GP-enhanced non-linear function is proposed to mitigate the range bias in LOS scenarios. Moreover, NLOS identification based on the sliding window and Bayesian Conv-BLSTM method is utilized to mitigate range error due to the non-line-of-sight conditions. A novel spatial–temporal attention module is proposed to improve the performance of the proposed model. The epistemic and aleatoric uncertainty estimation method is also introduced to determine the robustness of the proposed model for environment variance. Furthermore, moving average and min-max removing methods are utilized to minimize the standard deviation in the range measurements in both scenarios. Extensive experimentation with different settings and configurations has proven the effectiveness of our methodology and demonstrated the feasibility of our robust UWB range error mitigation for LOS and NLOS scenarios. The development of cathode materials for lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) aims to achieve high energy density, cost-effectiveness, and thermal as well as mechanical stability. It generally proceeds through multidimensional design rules at the atomic, phase, particle, and electrode levels. Recently, new strategies have been proposed to achieve high energy density even in olivine-structured cathodes, which have a relatively lower theoretical capacity compared to layered cathode materials. These strategies involve substituting iron (Fe) with manganese (Mn), controlling particle morphology, and fabricating thick electrodes to simultaneously achieve high energy density and cost-effectiveness. However, comprehensive design guidelines for the material design, particle morphology, and fabrication of thick electrodes for olivine cathodes are still lacking. Herein, we provide detailed insights from well-established prior knowledge on olivine cathodes and share the latest findings related to their particle morphology control and electrode thickening. Additionally, our review closely investigates further considerations related to kinetics, such as low electronic and ionic conductivity, and mechanical instability issues that arise while thickening electrodes. It is emphasized that these issues can be resolved through a comprehensive understanding and strategies from the atomic level to the electrode level. Therefore, this review aims to contribute to achieving high energy density in olivine-based cathodes by understanding their kinetic limitations and mechanical instabilities. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

However, the risk of pulmonary aspiration cannot be excluded in all patients undergoing anesthesia. But, there are few studies on the safety of OCS at lung aspiration. Methods Experiments were conducted with mice (Nine- to ten-week-old male BALB/c mice weighted 23-26 g). Lung aspiration was performed by intratracheal administration of OCS and its major constituents, fructose and maltodextrin. Bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) was collected 3 and 24 h after lung aspiration. The level of Tumor necrosis factor-[alpha] (TNF-[alpha]), interleukin-6 (IL-6) and macrophage inflammatory protein-2 (MIP-2) were measured in BALF. The total white blood cell, neutrophil counts, wet to dry ratio and histological examination were performed in BALF and lung tissue, respectively, at 24 h after aspiration. Results The OCS increased the level of TNF-[alpha], IL-6 and MIP-2 at 3 h and the neutrophil count at 24 h in BALFs, compared to a phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) group. The increase in IL-6 level induced by OCS was maintained for 24 h. The OCS also increased the number of white blood cells and the percentage of neutrophils in BALFs. Compared to fructose, maltodextrin significantly increased the production of MIP-2 in BALFs. OCS and maltodextrin also increased neutrophil recruitment in lung tissue. Conclusion Aspiration of OCS may cause inflammation of the lungs. The preoperative use of OCS may require caution under specific clinical conditions, such as patients at risk of lung aspiration.
