Electrocatalysts used for water electrolysis have been widely studied to decrease the overpotential and increase their stability and economic feasibility. Among the various candidates, transition metal phosphides (TMPs) display notably high electrocatalytic activity and stability under both acidic and alkaline conditions owing to the incorporation of P. As the number of studies focusing on TMPs has rapidly increased owing to their remarkable physicochemical properties, it is necessary to investigate the most recent advances in TMPs for hydrogen and oxygen evolution reactions (HER and OER, respectively). In addition to recent progress, this article arranges and reviews the HER and OER mechanisms, activity origins, synthetic processes that use various P sources, and effective strategies for enhancing the catalytic performance of TMPs. Furthermore, the current challenges faced by TMPs are discussed, indicating the route to be undertaken. Cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (cSCC) accounts for 20% of all skin cancer deaths globally, making it the second-highest subtype of skin cancer. The prevalence of cSCC in humans, as well as the poor capacity for an efficient prognosis, highlights the need to uncover alternative actors and mechanisms at the foundation of skin cancer development. Significant advances have been made to better understand some key factors in cSCC progression. However, little is known about the role of noncoding RNAs, particularly of a specific category called long noncoding RNA (lncRNA). By performing pseudobulk analysis of single-cell sequencing data from normal and cSCC human skin tissues, we determined a global portfolio of lncRNAs specifically expressed in keratinocyte subpopulations. Integration of CRISPR interference screens in vitro and the xenograft model identified several lncRNAs impacting the growth of cSCC cancer lines both in vitro and in vivo. Among these, we further validated LINC00704 and LINC01116 as proliferation-regulating lncRNAs in cSCC lines and potential biomarkers of cSCC progression. Taken together, our study provides a comprehensive signature of lncRNAs with roles in regulating cSCC progression.

The cation exchange reaction is a powerful method for generating nanomaterials with unique structures because of the easy control of the size, morphology, composition, and crystal structure of the nanoparticles. This study investigated the kinetically controlled morphology and composition of colloidal nanoparticles (NPs) through cation exchange reactions, specifically focusing on variations from copper sulfide to transition metal sulfides, including Co, Fe, Zn, and Mn sulfides. In the cation exchange reaction, Co exhibited the fastest exchange rate, followed by Fe, Mn, and Zn. The difference in kinetics rates affected the change in morphology; Co, with the fastest rate, was immediately and uniformly distributed in the NPs. For Fe, a sandwich structure was initially formed and this gradually transformed into a solid-solution phase. After exchanging Cu with Mn and Zn, a heterostructure was formed, which became increasingly clear as the reaction progressed. The transformation of the morphology and crystal structure were confirmed using XRD, TEM, and SEM analyses. The findings of this study suggest that the morphology and distinct structures of the exchanged particles can be controlled by manipulating the kinetics rates of cations through cation exchange reactions. This process offers a powerful tool for the tailored synthesis of colloidal nanoparticles and provides a design principle for enabling predictable outcomes through cation exchange reactions.
