Abstract

The paradigm shift from “connected things” to “connected intelligence” is anticipated to be made possible by the sixth-generation wireless systems, which typically use millimeter wave beamforming to mitigate the significant propagation loss. However, beamforming design in millimeter wave communications poses many different challenges owing to the large antenna arrays with the limitation of radio frequency chains and analog beamforming architectures. To circumvent this problem, deep learning models have recently been utilized as a disruptive method for solving difficult optimization problems in sixth-generation mobile systems, such as maximizing spectral efficiency. However, it is still unclear how to produce high-performance deep learning models which require considering appropriate hyperparameters. This study proposes a metaheuristics-based approach for optimizing hyperparameters that are used to build optimized deep learning models to maximize spectral efficiency. The research results demonstrate that the proposed approach-based models establish higher spectral efficiency than the state-of-the-art approach-based models and the reference model whose hyperparameters are based on empirical trials.

Abstract

Chopper and capacitively coupled techniques are employed in instrumentation amplifiers to create capacitively coupled chopper instrumentation amplifiers (CCIAs) that obtain a high noise power efficiency. However, the CCIA has some disadvantages due to the chopper technique, namely chopper ripple and a low input impedance. The amplifier can easily saturate due to the chopper ripple of the CCIA, especially in extremely low noise problems. Therefore, ripple attenuation is required when designing CCIAs. To record biomedical information, a CCIA with a low power consumption and a low noise, low output ripple, and high input impedance (Zin) is presented in this paper. By introducing a ripple attenuation loop (RAL) including the chopping offset amplifier and a low pass filter, the chopping ripple can be reduced to 0.36 mV. To increase the Zin of the CCIA up to 1.8 GΩ, an impedance boost loop (IBL) is added. By using 180 nm CMOS technology, the 0.123 mm2 CCIA consumes 1.87 µW at a supply voltage of 1 V. According to the simulation results using Cadance, the proposed CCIA architecture achieves a noise floor of 136 nV/√Hz, an input-referred noise (IRN) of 2.16 µVrms, a closed-loop gain of 40 dB, a power supply rejection ratio (PSRR) of 108.6 dB, and a common-mode rejection ratio (CMRR) of 118.7 dB. Abstract

In the paper, an information divergence called Kullback-Leiber divergence , which measures the average of the logarithmic difference between two probability density functions, is utilized to derive a novel method for spectrum sensing in cognitive radio systems. In the proposed sensing method, we test whether the ob served samples are drawn from the noise distribution by using Kullback-Leiber divergence. It is shown by numerical results that under the same conditions, the proposed Kullback-Leiber divergence-based spectrum sensing always outperforms the energy detection based spectrum sensing significantly, especially in low SNR regime and in fading circumstance.

Abstract

Event detection is a critical issue in wireless sensor networks. In this letter, a novel collaborative event detection scheme using fuzzy logic in clustered wireless sensor networks is proposed. Unlike previous research in which every sensor node or cluster is treated equally during the decision making process, in this letter we evaluate the credibility of clusters by using fuzzy logic and take them into account when the final decision is made at the fusion center. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme can provide better accuracy than conventional approaches.
