We attempted to analyze the effect of changes in financial performance after digital transformation on firm value creation, compared to undigitalized firms for digitally transformed firms listed in the KOSPI market in Korea. To this end, we conducted an independent sample t-test and a multivariate regression analysis for a total of 12,143 firms listed on the KOSDAQ market, from 2011 to 2021. As a result of the empirical analysis of our study, it was confirmed that digitally transformed firms showed differential results in changes in financial performance compared to undigitalized firms. Overall, changes in profitability, stability, and growth are excellent, but in some aspects of activity and productivity, it is confirmed that they are weaker than undigitalized firms. In addition, it was confirmed that there was a difference in the change in the current ratio and the total asset turnover rate in the changes in the financial performance affecting the value creation. Nonetheless, there were insignificant differences in other variables.

Although it is widely accepted that corporate social responsibility (CSR) is key to obtaining business sustainability, there is a significant lack of empirical tests on the longer-term benefits of CSR in academic literature. The objective of our study was to examine the effects of chief executive officer (CEO) governance on CSR in service firms. We used CEO pay slice (CPS) to measure CEO governance and the Korea Economic Justice Institute Index (KEJI) to measure the level of CSR activities. CPS was measured using the compensation information of the board of directors in their business reports. The KEJI was obtained from the website of Citizens&rsquo, Coalition for Economic Justice. The sample selected from listed firms consisting of 260 observations was collected from 2013 to 2015 at the TS-2000 and the FnGuide. The results showed that the CPS has a significant negative impact on the level of CSR activities in service firms. Specifically, CPS has a significant negative impact on the level of CSR activities in the areas of human, environment, and society at a significant level of one percent. Based on these results, higher CEO governance is expected to mean lower CSR in service firms. This paper contributes to the field of research in that it is the first research on the relationship between CEO governance and the level of CSR activities in service firms.

The purpose of this study is to analyze if product or process improvement play mediating roles in the performance of new ventures in Korea from a resource-based view. It further examines whether there is a difference between the non-equity entry mode and equity entry mode of a foreign market. In accordance with this purpose, data were collected from surveys on venture enterprises in Korea and analysis was done using a structural equation model. The results of this study found that innovation (product and process improvement) is affected by internationalization, entrepreneurship, and hostile environment. SMEs and/or new ventures (NVs) tend to make efforts to improve their products in order to create competitive advantage in their target markets when they advance into new foreign markets. Entrepreneurship was verified to be a vital factor in innovation. The hostile environment of a foreign market was found to have a significant effect on process improvement. Analysis showed that innovation played a partial mediating role between independent variables and management performance. In addition, structural relationship among them exhibited partial differences depending on the foreign market entry mode.

요 약이 연구는 Ka대역 HDTV 위성방송서비스를 제공할 때 발생하는 강우감쇠 문제를 해결하기 위하여, MPEG-4 SVC (Scalable Video Coding) 신호를 JSCC (Joint Source/Channel Coding) 시스템을 통하여 Ka대역 위성방송시스템에 적용하는 방안에 대하여 고찰하였다. Ka대역 위성방송시스템은 DVB-S2 VCM (Variable Coding and Modulation) 모드를 기반으로 하였으며, SVC 신호는 공간 계위층, 화질 계위층 및 시간 계위층을 고려하였다. JSCC 시스템은 모든 계층의 소스부호화 시스템과 채널부호화 시스템을 결합하여, 최적의 수신품질을 얻도록 각 계층의 비트 율과 그 계층에서의 소스와 채널을 위한 비트 율을 할당하였다 . 계층 수는 기본계층과 향상계층을 포함하는 2개로 제한하였으며, 각 계층에 대한 비트 율은 적용 SVC 신호에 따라 영향을 받는다. 세 가지 SVC 신호의 Ka대역 위성방송서비스에의 적용성을 강우감쇠관점에서 분석하였으며, 가장 적용성이 우수한 SVC 신호를 이용하여 Ka대역 위성방송서비스에 적용하는 방안이 고찰되었다.AbstractThe paper studied the scheme of applying the MPEG-4 SVC signal to the Ka band satellite broadcasting system through the JSCC system to resolve the rain fading problem generated when providing the Ka band HDTV satellite broadcasting service. The Ka band satellite broadcasting system is based on the VCM mode of the DVB-S2, and the SVC signal is considered as one of the spatial scalability, the SNR scalability and the temporal scalability. The JSCC system jointed all the layers of the source coding system and the channel coding system, and allocated bit rate to source coding and channel coding for each layer to get the optimum receiving quality. The layers are consists of a base layer and an enhancement layer, and the bit rate of each layer is affected by the SVC signal. The applicability of the three SVC signals to the Ka band satellite broadcasting service is analyzed with respect to the rain fading, and the scheme of applying the most excellent SVC to the service is considered.
