This study was designed to study dual risk of MWFs and vibration according to exposure simulation of selected industry. Air samples of two types MWFs were evaluated according to NIOSH 5026. Vibration acceleration exposure was assessed based on the ISO 8041:2005 standard. Cell treatment of both MWF air samples and vibration as the same as dual exposure to MWF airborne and vibration was assessed. There is a potency of nitrosamine formation in airborne samples of ethylamine containing MWF, while heterocyclic including bore is found in airborne bore containing MWF. DNA breaks caused by boron-containing MWF were higher than nitrosamine air samples. Oxidative stress production and chronic inflammation were highlighted in the response to cell treatments. The risk of cell toxicity in machining workers was evaluated at a level lower than the occupational exposure limit for MWFs and vibration. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The incidence of DNA damage from exposure to specific types of metalworking fluids has been reported. In this research, size-selective permissible limits to prevent genotoxic damage in A549 cell lines exposed to two types of mineral oil were estimated for the first time using a benchmark dose approach and extrapolated to workers. The comet assay was performed based on Olive and Banath protocol to determine DNA damage. Then, the Benchmark Dose, the 95% lower bound confidence limit BMD, and the 95% upper-bound confidence limit BMD were determined using continuous response data. Finally, the four Benchmark Dose levels reported in the A549 cell line were extrapolated to the human population in occupational settings in two phases. This study showed when determining the permissible limits, the type used or unused, the type of injury, the organ affected in the body and the size of the particles should also be considered. Using a demolition hammer among the power tools is one of the most challenging job tasks for the operators of these tools, which exposes users to high levels of hand-transmitted vibrations. The focus of this study was for finding the vibration levels transmitted to the handles, the frequency content transmitted by the tool, and the effect of using insert bits with different tip shapes and lengths using conventional demolition hammers under controlled operating conditions on typical concrete slabs in the field. Three demolition hammers (weighing between 14 and 27 kg) with two handles installed were subjected to simultaneous measurements based on ISO 5349 as the field measurement technique. The findings demonstrated that even while the vertical axis dominated, several samples also produced equivalent x -axis results. The impact energy of the tools employed and the transmitted vibration to the tool handles are not significantly correlated with each other. All mean values were higher in the slabs with a thickness of 15 than those with 10 cm. The mean values of the total results for the two forms of flat and point tip inserted bits were 16.85 and 15.86 m/s2, respectively, and in the samples with the same operating factors, this difference was more than 3 m/s2 (p <.03). The a wrms (frequency-weighted root mean square acceleration) produced at tools using 60 cm bits were more than those with a length of 40 cm, both for the average of the total results and the average of the results of each hammer. The difference between the average bit length groups over samples with the same factors reached 4.65 m/s2 (p =.02). Frequency analysis for the flat and point insert bits with 60 cm length in the concrete slabs with a thickness of 15 cm showed that the dominant frequencies detected at lower frequencies for point bits. Hearing loss induced by noise and combinations of factors is a common occupational disease among workers. This study aimed to investigate the impact of acute exposure to white noise and Al2O3 NPs, alone and in combination, on changes in the hearing and structural functions of the cochlea in rats. Thirty-six rats were randomly assigned to one of six groups: Control, acute exposure to white noise, exposure to γ-Al2O3 NPs, exposure to noise plus γ-Al2O3 NPs, exposure to α-Al2O3 NPs, and exposure to the combination of noise plus α-Al2O3 NPs. TTS and PTS were examined using DPOAE, while oxidative index (MDA, GSH-Px), gene expression (NOX3, TGF-ß, CYP1A1), protein expression (ß-Tubulin, Myosin VII), and histopathological changes were examined in the cochlea. The morphology of Al2O3 NPs was examined by TEM. The results of the DPOAE test showed a significant increase in TTS in all groups and an increase in PTS in the groups exposed to noise, γ-Al2O3 NPs, and a combination of noise plus Al2O3 NPs (P < 0.05). In the group exposed to white noise plus Al2O3 NPs, the MDA levels increased, the level of GSH-Px decreased, and the expression percentage of ß-Tubulin and Myosin VII decreased, while the expression of NOX3, TGF-ß, and CYP1A1 (except for the α-Al2O3 NPs group) significantly increased (P < 0.05). Histopathological changes of the cochlea indicated damage to hair and ganglion cells, which was more severe in the combined exposure group. The combined and independent exposure to white noise and Al2O3 NPs damaged hair and ganglion cells for high-frequency perception, affecting the function and structure of the cochlea and leading to TTS and PTS. Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) are one group of persistent organic pollutants (POPs) that are of international concern because of global distribution, persistence, and toxicity. Removal of these compounds from the environment remains a very difficult challenge because the compounds are highly hydrophobic and have very low solubility in water. A 900 W domestic microwave oven, pyrex vessel reactor, pyrex tube connector and condensing system were used in this experiment. Radiation was discontinuous and ray powers were 540, 720 and 900 W. The PCBS were analyzed by GC-ECD. The application of microwave radiation and H2O2/TiO2 agents for the degradation of polychlorinated biphenyl contaminated oil was explored in this study. PCB – contaminated oil was treated in a pyrex reactor by microwave irradiation at 2450 MHz with the addition of H2O2/TiO2. A novel grain TiO2 (GT01) was used. The determination of PCB residues in oil by gas chromatography (GC) revealed that rates of PCB decomposition were highly dependent on microwave power, exposure time, ratio to solvent with transformer oil in 3:1, the optimal amount of GT01 (0.2 g) and 0.116 mol of H2O2 were used in the study. It was suggested that microwave irradiation with the assistance of H2O2/TiO2 might be a potential technology for the degradation of PCB – contaminated oil. The experiments show that MW irradiation, H2O2 oxidant and TiO2 catalyst lead to a degradation efficiency of PCBs only in the presence of ethanol. The results showed that the addition of ethanol significantly enhanced degradation efficiency of PCBs.

Both natural and synthetic fibers do not perform well at low frequencies and are also subjected to erosion, moisture, fire, etc., when used as an interior finish of room walls. To overcome these problems, micro-perforated plate with different thickness is used in a multilayer sound absorber configuration to improve its sound absorption. Firstly, the acoustic properties of five natural wastes including sheep wool, goat wool, camel wool as well as pith and fiber bundles of sugarcane bagasse were determined by using an impedance tube following ISO 10534–2. Secondly, the effect of Panel thickness was investigated. The maximum sound absorption coefficient (SAC) of natural waste materials is at middle to high-frequency range and this shifted to lower frequency as the porous layer thickness increases. The sound absorption performance depends on the thickness of perforated plate and porous layer in a compound sound absorber. It is observed that the using perforated plate in the front of low thickness porous materials significantly improve the SAC and absorption bandwidth. However, it should be noted that this reduces the SAC at high frequencies. Accordingly, the thick micro-perforated panels backed by porous layer are not recommended to control sounds with frequency higher than 3000 Hz. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
