Abstract

A search for the $K^{+} \to \pi^{0}\pi^{0}\pi^{0}e^+\nu$ decay is performed by the OKA collaboration. The search is based on $3.65 \times 10^9 ~ K^+$ decays. No signal is observed. The upper limit set is $BR(K^{+} \to \pi^{0}\pi^{0}\pi^{0}e^+\nu) < 5.4\times 10^{-8} ~ 90\%$ CL, 65 times lower than the one currently listed by PDG.

Abstract

New results are presented on a high-statistics measurement of Collins and Sivers asymmetries of charged hadrons produced in deep inelastic scattering of muons on a transversely polarised $^6$LiD target. The data were taken in 2022 with the COMPASS spectrometer using the 160 \gevv\ muon beam at CERN, balancing the existing data on transversely polarised proton targets. The first results from about two-thirds of the new data have total uncertainties smaller by up to a factor of three compared to the previous deuteron measurements. Using all the COMPASS proton and deuteron results, both the transversity and the Sivers distribution functions of the $u$ and $d$ quark, as well as the tensor charge in the measured $x$-range are extracted. In particular, the accuracy of the $d$ quark results is significantly improved.

Abstract

The COMPASS Collaboration performed measurements of the Drell-Yan process in 2015 and 2018 using a 190 GeV/c $\pi^{-}$ beam impinging on a transversely polarised ammonia target. Combining the data of both years, we present final results on the amplitudes of the five azimuthal modulations in the dimuon production cross section. Three of these transverse-spin-dependent azimuthal asymmetries (TSAs) probe the nucleon leading-twist Sivers, transversity, and pretzelosity transverse-momentum dependent (TMD) parton distribution functions (PDFs). The other two are induced by subleading effects. These TSAs provide unique new inputs for the study of the nucleon TMD PDFs and their universality properties. In particular, the Sivers TSA observed in this measurement is consistent with the fundamental QCD prediction of a sign change of naive time-reversal-odd TMD PDFs when comparing the Drell-Yan process with semi-inclusive measurements of deep inelastic scattering. Also, within the context of model predictions, the observed transversity TSA is consistent with the expectation of a sign change for the Boer-Mulders function.

Abstract

The $K^{+} \to \pi^{+}\pi^{0}\pi^{0}\gamma$ decay is observed by the OKA collaboration. The branching ratio is measured to be $(4.1 \pm 0.9(stat) \pm 0.4(syst))\times 10^{-6}$. Abstract

A high statistics data sample of the $K^{+}$ decays is recorded by the OKA collaboration. A missing mass analysis is performed to search for a light invisible pseudoscalar axion-like particle (ALP) $a$ in the decay $K^{+} \to \pi^{+} \pi^{0} a$. No signal is observed, the upper limits for the branching ratio of the decay are calculated. The $90\%$ confidence level upper limit is changing from $2.5\cdot10^{-6}$ to $2\cdot10^{-7}$ for the ALP mass from 0 to 200 MeV/$c^{2}$, except for the region of $\pi^{0}$ mass, where the upper limit is $4.4\cdot10^{-6}$., Comment: 6 pages, 6 figures

Abstract

The coupling of the electron system to lattice vibrations and their time-dependent control and detection provides unique insight into the non-equilibrium physics of semiconductors. Here, we investigate the ultrafast transient response of semiconducting monolayer 2$H$-MoTe$_2$ encapsulated with $h$BN using broadband optical pump-probe microscopy. The sub-40-fs pump pulse triggers extremely intense and long-lived coherent oscillations in the spectral region of the A' and B' exciton resonances, up to $\sim$20% of the maximum transient signal, due to the displacive excitation of the out-of-plane $A_{1g}$ phonon. Ab-initio calculations reveal a dramatic rearrangement of the optical absorption of monolayer MoTe$_2$ induced by an out-of-plane stretching and compression of the crystal lattice, consistent with an $A_{1g}$-type oscillation. Abstract

The production of vector mesons in deep inelastic scattering is an interesting yet scarsely explored channel to study the transverse spin structure of the nucleon and the related phenomena. The COMPASS collaboration has performed the first measurement of the Collins and Sivers asymmetries for inclusively produced $\rho^0$ mesons. The analysis is based on the data set collected in deep inelastic scattering in $2010$ using a $160\,\,\rm{GeV}/c$ $\mu^+$ beam impinging on a transversely polarized $\rm{NH}_3$ target. The $\rho^{0}$ mesons are selected from oppositely charged hadron pairs, and the asymmetries are extracted as a function of the Bjorken-$x$ variable, the transverse momentum of the pair and the fraction of the energy $z$ carried by the pair. Indications for positive Collins and Sivers asymmetries are observed.

Abstract

We report on a measurement of Spin Density Matrix Elements (SDMEs) in hard exclusive $\rho ^0$ meson muoproduction at COMPASS using 160~GeV/$c$ polarised $ \mu ^{+}$ and $ \mu ^{-}$ beams impinging on a liquid hydrogen target. The measurement covers the kinematic range 5.0~GeV/$c^2$ $< W <$ 17.0~GeV/$c^2$, 1.0 (GeV/$c$)$^2$ $< Q^2 <$ 10.0 (GeV/$c$)$^2$ and 0.01 (GeV/$c$)$^2$ $< p_{\rm{T}}^2 <$ 0.5 (GeV/$c$)$^2$. Here, $W$ denotes the mass of the final hadronic system, $Q^2$ the virtuality of the exchanged photon, and $p_{\rm{T}}$ the transverse momentum of the $\rho ^0$ meson with respect to the virtual-photon direction. The measured non-zero SDMEs for the transitions of transversely polarised virtual photons to longitudinally polarised vector mesons ($\gamma^*_T \to V^{ }_L$) indicate a violation of $s$-channel helicity conservation. Additionally, we observe a dominant contribution of natural-parity-exchange transitions and a very small contribution of unnatural-parity-exchange transitions, which is compatible with zero within experimental uncertainties. The results provide important input for modelling Generalised Parton Distributions (GPDs). In particular, they may allow one to evaluate in a model-dependent way the role of parton helicity-flip GPDs in exclusive $\rho ^0$ production.

Abstract

The paper presents a measurement of the T-odd correlation in radiation decay \boldmath $K^+ \rightarrow \pi^{0} e^{+} \nu_{e} \gamma $ performed on the installation of the 101200 candidate events of the investigated decay were identified. Measured correlation $\xi_{\pi e \gamma}$ -is a mixed product of moments $e^{+}$, $\pi^{0}$, $\gamma$ in the kaon rest system, normalized by $M^{3}_{K}$. To assess the asymmetry of the distribution by $\xi_{\pi e \gamma}$ the value used is $A_{\xi}= \frac {N_{+}-N_{-}} {N_{+}+N_{-}}$, where $N_{+(-)}$ is the number of events with $\xi$ greater than (less than) zero. For the $A_{\xi}$ asymmetry, the value is obtained $A_{\xi} = (+0.1 \pm 3.9($stat.$) \pm1.7($syst.$))\times10^{-3}$ or $|A_{\xi}| < 5.4\times10^{-3} (90\%~ CL)$

Abstract The $$K^{+} \rightarrow \pi ^{+}\pi ^{0}\pi ^{0}\gamma $$ K + → π + π 0 π 0 γ decay is observed by the OKA collaboration. About 60 events of the decay observed with signal:noise $$\approx 1$$ ≈ 1 . The branching ratio obtained by normalization to $$K^{+} \rightarrow \pi ^{+}\pi ^{0}\pi ^{0}$$ K + → π + π 0 π 0 is measured to be $$(3.7 \pm 0.9(stat) \pm 0.3(syst))\times 10^{-6}$$ ( 3.7 ± 0.9 ( s t a t ) ± 0.3 ( s y s t ) ) × 10 - 6 for $$E_{\gamma }^*>10\,\textrm{MeV}$$ E γ ∗ > 10 MeV . The branching ratio, $$\gamma $$ γ energy spectrum and angular distribution are consistent with ChPT prediction.

Abstract

At the current stage of transformational transformations, the problems of energy infrastructure transformation are extremely important. And these issues are especially relevant in the conditions of rapid development of the digital economy. According to the calculations of The Boston Consulting Group experts, the volume of the digital economy by 2035 will amount to 16 trillion dollars. USA. At the same time, it is worth noting that the digital transformation observed in the energy sector as a critically important branch of the national economy has led to the emergence of new challenges and risks of information and cybersecurity, which should be given special attention in order to increase competitiveness and achieve sustainable development. In view of this, the purpose of this study is to determine the trends and key areas of research on the transformation of energy infrastructure in the era of digitalization based on bibliometric analysis using the VOSviewer software. The article specifies the meaning of the concepts “energy infrastructure”, “transformation”, "digital transformation". A bibliometric analysis of the relationship between the terms “energy infrastructure”, “energy system”, “energy network”, “digital transformation”, “digitalization”, “information technologies” was performed. The author's approach to the interpretation of the concept of “digital transformation of the energy infrastructure in the conditions of global changes” is proposed. It has been established that the use of information systems and digital technologies in recent years has been recognized as a strategic direction for the transformation of energy infrastructure in many European countries. A comparative analysis of existing international methods for evaluating the development of energy systems, taking into account the information component, was performed. It has been proven that the priority direction of research in the future should be the substantiation of the theoretical and methodological provisions of the formation of the digital energy ecosystem.

Abstract

Abstract A high-statistics data sample of the $$K^{+}$$ K + decays is recorded by the OKA collaboration. A missing mass analysis is performed to search for a light invisible pseudoscalar axion-like particle (ALP) a in the decay $$K^{+} \rightarrow \pi ^{+} \pi ^{0} a$$ K + → π + π 0 a . No signal is observed, and the upper limits for the branching ratio of the decay are calculated. The $$90\%$$ 90 % confidence level upper limit changes from $$2.5\cdot 10^{-6}$$ 2.5 · 10 - 6 to $$2\cdot 10^{-7}$$ 2 · 10 - 7 for the ALP mass from 0 to 200 MeV/ $$c^{2}$$ c 2 , except for the region of $$\pi ^{0}$$ π 0 mass, where the upper limit is $$4.4\cdot 10^{-6}$$ 4.4 · 10 - 6 .

Abstract

We present the study of the production of double $J/\psi$ mesons using COMPASS data collected with a 190 GeV/$c$ $\pi^-$ beam scattering off NH$_{3}$, Al and W targets. Kinematic distributions of the collected double $J/\psi$ events are analysed, and the double $J/\psi$ production cross section is estimated for each of the COMPASS targets. The results are compared to predictions from single- and double-parton scattering models as well as the pion intrinsic charm and the tetraquark exotic resonance hypotheses. It is demonstrated that the single parton scattering production mechanism gives the dominant contribution that is sufficient to describe the data. An upper limit on the double intrinsic charm content of pion is evaluated. No significant signatures that could be associated with exotic tetraquarks are found in the double $J/\psi$ mass spectrum., Comment: 12 pages, 4 figures

Abstract

The article presents modern approaches to measuring and possibly conducting a comparative analysis of the effectiveness of social policy in individual countries with the help of global and regional special indicator systems and global indices of well-being and social progress. It is emphasized that in the modern world, the scenarios of increasing social polarization, inequality and poverty of human development both within and between countries are currently being realized, as well as those associated with the contraction of public welfare, violation of social, labour and environmental standards, and reduction of the quality of social rights. The author identifies and briefly characterizes the main indicator systems for measurement and comparative analysis of the effectiveness of social policies in the EU member states, particularly the EU statistics on incomes and living conditions (EU-SILC) and the European pillar of social rights. The effectiveness of the social policy of the EU member states is analyzed by the indicators of “Median equalized net income per household member” and “Risk of poverty and social exclusion”, which make it possible to determine convergent and divergent trends in their growth. It is confirmed that two main trends are observed in the convergence processes: actual convergence (EU member states are becoming more similar); and an upward trajectory of living and working conditions, which improves the overall EU value. Recommendations are formulated regarding the need to reform Ukraine’s social policy and its statistical support as a candidate country for joining the European Union under the current EU regulatory environment. The assessment of the dynamics of the welfare indicators for EU and Ukraine populations according to the components of the Legatum Prosperity Index, which relates to the social sphere, proves the need for reforms and the development of measures to improve the living conditions and health of Ukraine’s population.

Abstract

Guaranteeing fuel security is an integral part of the problem of ensuring the national security of each country, on which its socioeconomic stability and defense capability depend. Over the past 20 years, Ukraine has not paid much attention to strengthening fuel security, gradually losing its own oil refining complex. The article presents a methodical approach to assessing fuel security by components of the product balance of crude hydrocarbons and motor fuels of Ukraine and highlights how it changed in 2000–2021. This approach is based on 14 local indicators and allows identifying the fuel security challenges both by component and in general. It is found that the lack of government attention to fuel security issues led to the fact that initially part of the oil refining complex of Ukraine went into russian ownership, was extensively exploited, and products were exported even under conditions of import dependence of the domestic market of motor fuels. The absence of a balanced investment policy has made Ukrainian motor fuels uncompetitive and led to the closure of most of the industry’s enterprises. Consequently, the overall level of fuel security decreased from 61% in 2001 to 36% in 2020. The destruction of the last oil refining capacities as result of russian armed aggression turned Ukraine into a country with a zero resource cycle of motor fuel and reduced the level of fuel security to almost 0. Among the ways of strengthening Ukraine’s fuel security in the post-war period are considered both the conventional ones: through maximizing its own oil production and importing crude hydrocarbons from world markets, and the non-conventional ones, e. g.: developing a resource cycle of synthetic motor fuel based on coal raw materials.

Abstract

We study the spin-exotic $J^{PC} = 1^{-+}$ amplitude in single-diffractive dissociation of 190 GeV$/c$ pions into $\pi^-\pi^-\pi^+$ using a hydrogen target and confirm the $\pi_1(1600) \to \rho(770) \pi$ amplitude, which interferes with a nonresonant $1^{-+}$ amplitude. We demonstrate that conflicting conclusions from previous studies on these amplitudes can be attributed to different analysis models and different treatment of the dependence of the amplitudes on the squared four-momentum transfer and we thus reconcile their experimental findings. We study the nonresonant contributions to the $\pi^-\pi^-\pi^+$ final state using pseudo-data generated on the basis of a Deck model. Subjecting pseudo-data and real data to the same partial-wave analysis, we find good agreement concerning the spectral shape and its dependence on the squared four-momentum transfer for the $J^{PC} = 1^{-+}$ amplitude and also for amplitudes with other $J^{PC}$ quantum numbers. We investigate for the first time the amplitude of the $\pi^-\pi^+$ subsystem with $J^{PC} = 1^{--}$ in the $3\pi$ amplitude with $J^{PC} = 1^{-+}$ employing the novel freed-isobar analysis scheme. We reveal this $\pi^-\pi^+$ amplitude to be dominated by the $\rho(770)$ for both the $\pi_1(1600)$ and the nonresonant contribution. We determine the $\rho(770)$ resonance parameters within the three-pion final state. These findings largely confirm the underlying assumptions for the isobar model used in all previous partial-wave analyses addressing the $J^{PC} = 1^{-+}$ amplitude.

Abstract

Objective: to optimize surgical access to intracranial lesions (tumors, arteriovenous malformations, cysts, etc.) by using a holographic neuronavigation system with augmented reality helmet. Materials and methods: The study included thirty-four patients who underwent cerebral neurosurgical interventions. Creation and clinical use of mixed reality neuronavigation (MRN) system holograms was possible in all cases, which allowed accurate localization of lesions. The additional time required for synchronizing the MRN system with the clinical environment was estimated, which decreased with the number of MRN system uses. Operators evaluated the effectiveness of the technology and in most cases provided positive evaluations after use. Results: A semi-automatic MRN recording system on HoloLens smart glasses has been developed and tested for accuracy and performance. 34 patients with intracranial lesions were prospectively included in the study. Three-dimensional holograms of lesions, markers, and surrounding anatomical landmarks based on multimodal imaging were generated for each patient and then imported into the MRN system in AR helmet. After point recording, holograms were projected onto the patient’s head and observed through the AR helmet during the planning and conducting of surgical interventions. Conclusions: In this small pilot study, the authors found that mixed reality neuronavigation system MRN can be applied in the workflow of a neurosurgical operating room and is a possible method of preoperative identification of lesion boundaries for surgical access planning. Future studies are needed to identify strategies to improve and optimize the accuracy of MRN system.

Abstract

The article is devoted to the determination of the main trends in the development of scientific research in the sphere of startups using the methods of bibliometric and content analyses. In accordance with the set goal, the dynamics of publication activity and the structure of publications in the direction of «startup» in the scientometric databases Scopus and Web of Science were analyzed; the sectoral structure of publication activity on the startup topics is studied; the TOP-5 of scientific publications by the number of citations in the scientometric databases Scopus and Web of Science have been formed; the geographical structure of affiliations of scientists with high publication activity on the startups issues, including individual institutions, is analyzed. In order to identify trends and key areas of research in the sphere of startups, a bibliometric analysis of scientific publications presented in the Scopus and Web of Science was carried out using VOSviewer software, and the main clusters of research were identified, along with the dynamics of their development. According to the results of the study, the author determined the following: 1 – the number of publications on startup topics has been gaining increasing popularity since the 90s of the twentieth century; 2 – the startup topics are of interdisciplinary nature; 3 – 9 clusters of key areas of the startup research (innovation, lean startups, productivity, management, innovative business model, knowledge, growth, ecosystem, business incubator) are identified; 4 – the leaders in the number of publications in this area are the USA, China, Germany; 5 – in 2017–2018 the vast majority of publications were aimed at modeling startups, while in 2018-2020 – innovation and entrepreneurship, and recently there have been studies that are mainly related to the startup ecosystem; 6 – the close relationship between the keywords «Startup» and «Ecosystem» is substantiated, which can be considered a promising direction for the development of scientific research in this area.

Abstract

The purpose of the study is to generalize the global experience of building indices for assessing the development of startups and the supporting infrastructure. It is determined that the world experience in building indices for assessing the development of startups and the supporting infrastructure is quite diverse. The article analyzes most famous indices, among which: Global Startup Ecosystem Index, Most startup friendly countries in the world, Global Startup Ecosystem Report, Startup Index of Nations, Cities, Startup Ranking. The structure of their construction, the peculiarities of collecting and processing information for computing, and the list of countries (cities, regions) under study are considered. The countries leading in the rankings and Ukraine’s place in them are identified. Based on the summarized information on the indicators used in the rankings that characterize the conditions for the development of startups, it is concluded that there is no single approach to defining such indicators. This leads to ambiguity in assessments of the preconditions for the emergence and promotion of startups. Thus, composite indicators allow to establish ratings of countries, but based on the heterogeneity of methodologies for compiling indices and the choice of indicators that form them, they provide contradictory results and make it impossible to analyze trends and growth points in the development of startup ecosystems, and differentiate the quality of startup development. This does not allow us to unambiguously identify strategic drivers of success for the development of startups in highly developed countries and countries that are catching up in their development. Identification of these drivers justifies the directions for further research in this area.

Abstract

Based on the observation of sizeable target-transverse-spin asymmetries in single-hadron and hadron-pair production in Semi-Inclusive measurements of Deep Inelastic Scattering (SIDIS), the chiral-odd transversity quark distribution functions $h_1^q$ are nowadays well established. Several possible channels to access these functions were originally proposed. One candidate is the measurement of the polarisation of $\Lambda$ hyperons produced in SIDIS off transversely polarised nucleons, where the transverse polarisation of the struck quark might be transferred to the final-state hyperon. In this article, we present the COMPASS results on the transversity-induced polarisation of $\Lambda$ and $\bar{\Lambda}$ hyperons produced in SIDIS off transversely polarised protons. Within the experimental uncertainties, no significant deviation from zero was observed. The results are discussed in the context of different models taking into account previous experimental results on $h_1^u$ and $h_1^d$., Comment: 18 pages, 6 figures

Abstract

Dark photons are hypothetical massive vector particles that could mix with ordinary photons. The simplest theoretical model is fully characterised by only two parameters: the mass of the dark photon m$_{\gamma^{\mathrm{D}}}$ and its mixing parameter with the photon, $\varepsilon$. The sensitivity of the SHiP detector is reviewed for dark photons in the mass range between 0.002 and 10 GeV. Different production mechanisms are simulated, with the dark photons decaying to pairs of visible fermions, including both leptons and quarks. Exclusion contours are presented and compared with those of past experiments. The SHiP detector is expected to have a unique sensitivity for m$_{\gamma^{\mathrm{D}}}$ ranging between 0.8 and 3.3$^{+0.2}_{-0.5}$ GeV, and $\varepsilon^2$ ranging between $10^{-11}$ and $10^{-17}$.

Abstract

The article defines that startups in the modern economy, being the first stage of the life cycle of innovations, become one of the main engines of scientific progress. The purpose of the study is to determine the essence, classification, and role of startups in the economies of the world. Within the framework of this goal, the main approaches to defining the essence of startups are considered; a content analysis of the concept of «startup» is carried out; a closer definition of the concept is proposed. The main characteristics of «startups» and «small businesses» are also compared; the key features that allow a business project to be considered a startup are identified; the types and kinds of startups are studied. It concerns the following: low-tech, high-tech, and deep-tech innovations; startups by type of activity; depending on the stage of their life cycle; according to the main trends within which the startup will develop; by the method of occurrence (i. e., the nature of the action in the market); depending on their cost, etc. A generalized classification of types of startups by various attributes is proposed. Trends in the development of the startup movement are studied, viz.: rating by the share of startups in key topics; number of startups in the leading countries; the world-wide distribution of startups based on the industry of their implementation and their respective percentage of the total number. It is proved that the present-days processes of creating startups in the world are developing dynamically and will be of particular importance in those areas of the economy where structural transformation is central to the realization of not only economic but also broader social goals. It is determined that Ukraine cannot stay aside from these processes, which will require the use of various national policy instruments, the formation and development of the startup ecosystem, and the relevant institutional environment. This will create a basis for economic growth, which is extremely important for Ukraine in the context of the post-war economic recovery.

Abstract

Results of a study of the $K^+ \rightarrow \pi^{0} e^{+} \nu \gamma $ decay at OKA setup are presented. More than 32000 events of this decay are observed. The differential spectra over the photon energy and the photon-electron opening angle in kaon rest frame are presented. The branching ratios, normalized to that of $K_{e3}$ decay are calculated for different cuts in $E^*_\gamma$ and $cos\Theta^{*}_{e\gamma}$. In particular, the branching ratio for $E^{*}_{\gamma}>30$ MeV and $\Theta^{*}_{e \gamma}>20^{\circ}$ is measured R = $\frac{Br(K^+ \rightarrow \pi^{0} e^{+} \nu_{e} \gamma) } {Br(K^+ \rightarrow \pi^{0} e^{+} \nu_{e})} $ = =(0.587$\pm$0.010($stat.$)$\pm$0.015($syst.$))$\times10^{-2}$, which is in a good agreement with ChPT $O(p^{4})$ calculations.

Abstract

We report on a measurement of Spin Density Matrix Elements (SDMEs) in hard exclusive $\omega$ meson muoproduction on the proton at COMPASS using 160 GeV/$c$ polarised $ \mu ^{+}$ and $ \mu ^{-}$ beams impinging on a liquid hydrogen target. The measurement covers the range 5.0 GeV/$c^2$ $< W <$ 17.0 GeV/$c^2$, with the average kinematics $\langle Q^{2} \rangle=$ 2.1 (GeV/$c$)$^2$, $\langle W \rangle= 7.6$ GeV/$c^2$, and $\langle p^{2}_{\rm T} \rangle = 0.16$ (GeV/$c$)$^2$. Here, $Q^2$ denotes the virtuality of the exchanged photon, $W$ the mass of the final hadronic system and $p_T$ the transverse momentum of the $\omega$ meson with respect to the virtual-photon direction. The measured non-zero SDMEs for the transitions of transversely polarised virtual photons to longitudinally polarised vector mesons ($\gamma^*_T \to V_L$) indicate a violation of $s$-channel helicity conservation. Additionally, we observe a sizeable contribution of unnatural-parity-exchange (UPE) transitions that decreases with increasing $W$. The results provide important input for modelling Generalised Parton Distributions (GPDs). In particular, they may allow to evaluate in a model-dependent way the contribution of UPE transitions and assess the role of parton helicity-flip GPDs in exclusive $\omega$ production., Comment: 31 pages, 12 figures, 1 appendix

Abstract

The COMPASS experiment recently discovered a new isovector resonance-like signal with axial-vector quantum numbers, the $a_1(1420)$, decaying to $f_0(980)\pi$. With a mass too close to and a width smaller than the axial-vector ground state $a_1(1260)$, it was immediately interpreted as a new light exotic meson, similar to the $X$, $Y$, $Z$ states in the hidden-charm sector. We show that a resonance-like signal fully matching the experimental data is produced by the decay of the $a_1(1260)$ resonance into $K^\ast(\to K\pi)\bar{K}$ and subsequent rescattering through a triangle singularity into the coupled $f_0(980)\pi$ channel. The amplitude for this process is calculated using a new approach based on dispersion relations. The triangle-singularity model is fitted to the partial-wave data of the COMPASS experiment. Despite having less parameters, this fit shows a slightly better quality than the one using a resonance hypothesis and thus eliminates the need for an additional resonance in order to describe the data. We thereby demonstrate for the first time in the light-meson sector that a resonance-like structure in the experimental data can be described by rescattering through a triangle singularity, providing evidence for a genuine three-body effect., Comment: 7 pages, 5 figures

Abstract

We propose an algorithm for the fusion of partial images collected from the visual and infrared cameras such that the visual and infrared images are the real and imaginary parts of a complex function. The proposed image fusion algorithm of the complex function is a generalization for the algorithm of conventional image addition in the same way as the addition of complex numbers is the generalization for the addition of real numbers. The proposed algorithm of the complex function is simple in use and non-demanding in computer power. The complex form of the fused image opens a possibility to form the fused image either as the amplitude image or as a phase image, which in turn can be in several forms. We show theoretically that the local contrast of the fused phase images is higher than those of the partial images as well as in comparison with the images obtained by the algorithm of the simple or weighted addition. Experimental image quality assessment of the fused phase images performed using the histograms, entropy shows the higher quality of the phase images in comparison with those of the input partial images as well as those obtained with different fusion methods reported in the literature. Abstract

The $\bar{\rm p} $ over p multiplicity ratio is measured in deep-inelastic scattering for the first time using (anti-) protons carrying a large fraction of the virtual-photon energy, $z>0.5$. The data were obtained by the COMPASS Collaboration using a 160 GeV muon beam impinging on an isoscalar $^6$LiD target. The regime of deep-inelastic scattering is ensured by requiring $Q^2$ > 1 (GeV/$c$)$^2$ for the photon virtuality and $W > 5$ GeV/$c^2$ for the invariant mass of the produced hadronic system. The range in Bjorken-$x$ is restricted to $0.01 < x < 0.40$. Protons and antiprotons are identified in the momentum range $20 \div 60$ GeV/$c$. In the whole studied $z$-region, the $\bar{\rm p}$ over p multiplicity ratio is found to be below the lower limit expected from calculations based on leading-order perturbative Quantum Chromodynamics (pQCD). Extending our earlier analysis of the K$^-$ over K$^+$ multiplicity ratio by including now events with larger virtual-photon energies, this ratio becomes closer to the expectation of next-to-leading order pQCD. The results of both analyses strengthen our earlier conclusion that the phase space available for hadronisation should be taken into account in the pQCD formalism., Comment: 19 pages, 7 figures, 3 tables

Abstract

We propose to build and operate a detector that, for the first time, will measure the process $pp\to\nu X$ at the LHC and search for feebly interacting particles (FIPs) in an unexplored domain. The TI18 tunnel has been identified as a suitable site to perform these measurements due to very low machine-induced background. The detector will be off-axis with respect to the ATLAS interaction point (IP1) and, given the pseudo-rapidity range accessible, the corresponding neutrinos will mostly come from charm decays: the proposed experiment will thus make the first test of the heavy flavour production in a pseudo-rapidity range that is not accessible by the current LHC detectors. In order to efficiently reconstruct neutrino interactions and identify their flavour, the detector will combine in the target region nuclear emulsion technology with scintillating fibre tracking layers and it will adopt a muon identification system based on scintillating bars that will also play the role of a hadronic calorimeter. The time of flight measurement will be achieved thanks to a dedicated timing detector. Abstract

Hadron leptoproduction in Semi-Inclusive measurements of Deep-Inelastic Scattering (SIDIS) on unpolarised nucleons allows one to get information on the intrinsic transverse momentum of quarks in a nucleon and on the Boer-Mulders function through the measurement of azimuthal modulations in the cross section. These modulations were recently measured by the HERMES experiment at DESY on proton and deuteron targets, and by the COMPASS experiment using the CERN SPS muon beam and a $^6$LiD target. In both cases, the amplitudes of the $\cos\phi_h$ and $\cos 2\phi_h$ modulations show strong kinematic dependences for both positive and negative hadrons. It has been known since some time that the measured final-state hadrons in those SIDIS experiments receive a contribution from exclusive diffractive production of vector mesons, particularly important at large values of $z$, the fraction of the virtual photon energy carried by the hadron. In previous measurements of azimuthal asymmetries this contribution was not taken into account, because it was not known that it could distort the azimuthal modulations. Presently, a method to evaluate the contribution of the exclusive reactions to the azimuthal asymmetries measured by COMPASS has been developed. The subtraction of this contribution results in a better understanding of the kinematic effects, and the remaining non-zero $\cos 2\phi_h$ modulation gives indication for a non-zero Boer-Mulders effect., Comment: 13 pages, 7 figures

New faunistic data on mites of the family Cunaxidae of Asian Russia are provided. A total of 11 species were found, among them four species are described as new for science, namely, Neobonzia scutatasp. nov., Cunaxa palustrissp. nov., C. quinquesetosasp. nov., and Cunaxoides magnificussp. nov. Scirula impressa Berlese is recorded from Russia for the first time and redescribed; Cunaxoides trepidus Kuznetsov and Livshitz recorded from Asian Russia for the first time and redescribed; Armascirus fendai Kalúz and Vrabec and Cunaxoides lootsi Den Heyer are recorded from Russia for the first time; Cunaxa gordeevae Sergeyenko, C. anomala Khaustov and Kuznetsov, and Cunaxoides desertus Kuznetsov and Livshitz are recorded from Asian Russia for the first time. 43. Thyreophagus tauricus sp. n., a New Subcortical Mite Species (Acari: Acaridae), with a COX1 DNA Sequence Analysis of Several Economically Important Species of Thyreophagus

Abstract

As part of a survey of the subcortical astigmatic mites of Crimea, we discovered a new sexual acarid species, Thyreophagus tauricus sp. n. This species was cultured in the laboratory to correlate the adult and deutonymphal stages. Using specimens obtained by these rearing experiments, we provide a detailed description of Th. tauricus (light microscopy, SEM) based on females, males and heteromorphic deutonymphs. Furthermore, to facilitate molecular identification, the entire COX1 gene was also sequenced for this and three other Palearctic species reared in the lab as pure cultures. Adults of Th. tauricus sp. n. are distinct among all other species of the genus by the presence of flattened, button-shaped or minute spiniform setae s III and IV, which are well-developed spiniform in all other known species of Thyreophagus. Heteromorphic deutonymphs of Th. tauricus are distinct from all other species of Thyreophagus by the presence of well-developed setae cm on the dorsal part of the subcapitular remnant (absent all other species). Th. tauricus is morphologically very similar to Th. corticalis; however, COX1 K2P distances between these two species were large, 19.8%. COX1 K2P distances between Th. tauricus and other species (Th. entomophagus, Th. “entomophagus” NC 066986.1, Th. calusorum, Th. corticalis) ranged between 20.1 and 24.3%. We show that the GenBank sequence of Th. “entomophagus” from China (NC 066986.1) was probably misidentified.

Abstract

A set of measurements of azimuthal asymmetries in the production of pairs of identified hadrons in deep-inelastic scattering of muons on transversely polarised 6LiD (deuteron) and NH3 (proton) targets is presented. All available data collected in the years 2003–2004 and 2007/2010 with the COMPASS spectrometer using a muon beam of 160GeV/c at the CERN SPS were analysed. The asymmetries provide access to the transversity distribution functions via a fragmentation function that in principle may be independently obtained from e+e− annihilation data. Results are presented, discussed and compared to existing measurements as well as to model predictions. Asymmetries of π+π− pairs measured with the proton target as a function of the Bjorken scaling variable are sizeable in the range x>0.032, indicating non-vanishing transversity distribution and di-hadron interference fragmentation functions. As already pointed out by several authors, the small asymmetries of π+π− measured on the 6LiD target can be interpreted as indication for a cancellation of u and d-quark transversity distributions.

Abstract

The production of vector mesons in deep inelastic scattering is an interesting yet scarcely explored channel to study the transverse spin structure of the nucleon and the spin-dependence of fragmentation. The COMPASS collaboration has performed the first measurement of the Collins and Sivers asymmetries for inclusively produced ρ0 mesons. The analysis is based on the data set collected in deep inelastic scattering in 2010 using a 160GeV/c μ+ beam impinging on a transversely polarized NH3 target. The ρ0 mesons are selected from oppositely charged hadron pairs, and the asymmetries are extracted as a function of the Bjorken-x variable, the transverse momentum of the pair and the fraction of the energy z carried by the pair. Indications for positive Collins and Sivers asymmetries are observed.

Abstract

A precise measurement of the vector and axial-vector form factors difference $F_V-F_A$ in the $K^+\rightarrow{\mu^+}{\nu_{\mu}}{\gamma}$ decay is presented. About 95K events of $K^+\rightarrow{\mu^+}{\nu_{\mu}}{\gamma}$ are selected in the OKA experiment. The result is $F_V-F_A=0.134\pm0.021(stat)\pm0.027(syst)$. Abstract

We report on a measurement of hard exclusive $\pi^0$ muoproduction on the proton by COMPASS using 160 GeV/$c$ polarised $\mu^+$ and $\mu^-$ beams of the CERN SPS impinging on a liquid hydrogen target. From the average of the measured $\mu^+$ and $\mu^-$ cross sections, the virtual-photon proton cross section is determined as a function of the squared four-momentum transfer between initial and final proton in the range $0.08\,(\text{GeV/}c)^2 < |t| < 0.64\,(\text{GeV/}c)^2$. The average kinematics of the measurement are $\langle Q^2 \rangle =2.0\; {(\text{GeV}/c)^2}$, $\langle \nu \rangle = 12.8\; {\text{GeV}}$, $\langle x_{Bj} \rangle = 0.093 $ and $\langle -t \rangle = 0.256\; {(\text{GeV}/c)^2} $. Fitting the azimuthal dependence reveals a combined contribution by transversely and longitudinally polarised photons of $(8.1 \ \pm \ 0.9_{\text{stat}}{}_{- \ 1.0}^{+ \ 1.1}\big\rvert_{\text{sys}})\,{\text{nb}}/{(\text{GeV}/c)^{2}}$, as well as transverse-transverse and longitudinal-transverse interference contributions of $(-6.0 \pm 1.3_{\text{stat}}{}_{- \ 0.7}^{+ \ 0.7}\big\rvert_{\text{sys}})\,{\text{nb}}/{(\text{GeV}/c)^{2}}$ and $(1.4 \pm 0.5_{\text{stat}}{}_{- \ 0.2}^{+ \ 0.3}\big\rvert_{\text{sys}})\,{\text{nb}}/{(\text{GeV}/c)^{2}}$, respectively. Our results provide important input for modelling Generalised Parton Distributions. In the context of the phenomenological Goloskokov-Kroll model, the statistically significant transverse-transverse interference contribution constitutes clear experimental evidence for the chiral-odd GPD $\overline{E}_T$., Comment: 9 pages, 5 figures

Abstract

The aim of the study is to define the essential characteristics of startups, identify the features, trends and prospects for their development in the global energy sector as well as development opportunities in Ukraine. Based on the carried out research, it is shown that today startups are a catalyst for economic development, the processes of their creation in the world are developing dynamically. The importance of the energy sector in the development of startups due to the importance for states and humanity aiming at achieving the goals of the transition to clean energy, also the need to ensure energy independence and security of the countries of the world, and their national security in particular, is determined. An understanding of the essence of the concept of «startup» has been formed. It is found that startups are based on low-tech, high-tech and deep-tech innovations, their features are examined. Specific features of the energy sector that determine the processes of technological changes in the sector and affect the peculiarities of creating and implementing startups, the dynamics of their development and risks are highlighted. Quantitative indicators of the development of startups (including those connected with energy sector), as at the global level so by individual countries, their structure according to the directions, features of the development of startups in the fields of «clean» and «digital» energy are researched. The experience of individual countries in building an effective startup ecosystem is considered. It is substantiated that in the current conditions the development of the country requires the use of various instruments on the part of national policy for the formation and development of an ecosystem of startups, ensuring the appropriate institutional environment. This will create the basis for economic growth, which is extremely important for Ukraine in the context of post-war economic recovery. It is determined that large-scale destruction in the energy sector substantiates the high importance of the development of startups in it, which can be helpful in covering certain needs, for example, in liquid fuel, efficient heat supply, etc.

Abstract

Introduction. Support systems currently used in modern cardiac surgery to provide partial or complete, permanent or temporary replacement of cardiac function are frequently characterized by large dimensions, thus requiring major surgical interventions. Low invasiveness can be ensured by reducing the size of the implanted part of such systems, allowing these devices to be inserted through the femoral artery.Aim. Development of a minimally invasive micropump system to support blood circulation.Materials and methods. Based on the analysis of implementation of micropump circulatory support systems (MCSS), the configuration, operational principles and main components of such a system were determined. When designing a micropump, as a unit defining the weight and size parameters of the entire system, numerical and experimental methods were used to optimize its flow path based on the condition of minimizing blood injury and thrombus formation. The lubrication and cooling system was developed by solving the thermodynamic problem of heat removal. The electronic control unit was developed on the basis of accumulated experience in the design and operation of control units for circulatory support systems.Results. A micropump with a diameter of 6.5 mm and a length of 43 mm with the required hydro- and hemodynamic parameters was designed. The device ensures minimal trauma and thrombus formation. The main MCSS parameters, as well as its main components (electric drives, lubrication and cooling systems), were defined. The configuration and operational principles of the electronic control unit (ECU), consisting in a microprocessor-based control system with feedback, were developed. The ECU built-in software manages the rotational speed of the electric drives of the micropump and coolant supply pump in the required range. In addition, the software is used to measure, display and register the MCSS operational parameters, as well as to monitor their operation in the required ranges and to exchange data between the ECU and the PC.Conclusion. All the necessary documentation for the MCSS nodes and components was prepared. These nodes and components ensure the hydro- and hemodynamic parameters required for the use of the developed minimally invasive micropump system. Future work will address the stages of MCSS assembly and debugging.
