Background: Congenital Hypothyroidism is one of most common preventable cause of mental retardation in children and hyperbilirubinemia is the most common cause of readmission of newborn after discharged from hospital. Objective: To determine the association between serum bilirubin, TSH level and birth weight in full term neonates. Material and Methods: This Observational - Cross sectional study was conducted among Term Newborns delivered in the Department of Pediatrics in Vydehi Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre, Bangalore. Duration of study was March 2021 to August 2022. Results: Mean concentration of bilirubin levels, TSH levels in group 1 was 13.97mg/dl and 5.23mIU/ml respectively and in group 2 was 16.41mg/dl and 7.46 mIU/ml respectively. Mean TSH and bilirubin level of newborns <2.5kg was 7.65mIU/ml and 17.21mg/dl and in newborns >2.5kgwas6.55 mIU/ml and 15.29mg/dl respectively. Conclusion: simultaneous measurement of serum bilirubin levels and TSH levels can be useful for screening congenital hypothyroidism. Neonates with low birth weight (<2.5kgs) did not show statistically significant association with serum TSH level whereas it shows statistically significant association with serum bilirubin level. In this article, we derive a reliable and efficient a posteriori error estimator in the supremum norm for a class of discontinuous Galerkin (DG) methods for the frictionless unilateral contact problem between two elastic bodies. The proposed error estimator generalizes the basic residual type estimators for the linear problems in linear elasticity taking into account the nonlinearity on a part of the boundary. The analysis hinges on the super- and sub-solutions constructed by modifying the discrete solution appropriately, and it is carried out in a unified manner which holds for several DG methods. The terms arising from the contact stresses in the error estimator vanish on the discrete full contact set. Objective: To evaluate the accuracy and effectiveness of ultrasound (US) guided autologous blood injection (ABI) for the treatment of chronic recurrent TMJ dislocation. Design: Prospective cohort study. Setting: Centre for medical education and research. Participants (or Animals, Specimens, Cadavers): Ninteen patients with chronic recurrent TMJ dislocation (Fifteen bilateral and fourteen unilateral). Interventions: Autologous blood injected, 2ml in superior joint space (SJS) and 1 ml in peri-capsular tissue (PT) under ultra sound guidance. Main Outcome Measure(s): Reduction in number of dislocation episodes, maximal mouth opening, pain (visual analogue scale) and TMJ sounds (present or absent) at the end of 2 weeks, 3 months, 6 months and 1 year. Results: At 2 weeks post operatively 18 patients (95%) were asymptomatic only one patient (5%) complained of Recurrence of dislocation and was treated successfully by a 2nd injection. At subsequent follow up visits none reported dislocation. Conclusion(s): US guided ABI for patients with chronic recurrent TMJ dislocations serves as an alternative, minimally invasive, highly effective and accurate modality of treatment since it includes exposure without radiation, real-time visualization of soft tissues, visualization of the needle tip advancement, local anesthetic spread relevant to the surrounding structures which can be performed on an outpatient basis. MYB proteins represent one of the largest transcription factor families in plants, playing important roles in diverse developmental and stress-responsive processes. Considering its significance, several genome-wide analyses have been conducted in almost all land plants except foxtail millet. Foxtail millet (Setaria italica L.) is a model crop for investigating systems biology of millets and bioenergy grasses. Further, the crop is also known for its potential abiotic stress-tolerance. In this context, a comprehensive genome-wide survey was conducted and 209 MYB protein-encoding genes were identified in foxtail millet. All 209 S. italica MYB (SiMYB) genes were physically mapped onto nine chromosomes of foxtail millet. Gene duplication study showed that segmental- and tandem-duplication have occurred in genome resulting in expansion of this gene family. The protein domain investigation classified SiMYB proteins into three classes according to number of MYB repeats present. The phylogenetic analysis categorized SiMYBs into ten groups (I - X). SiMYB-based comparative mapping revealed a maximum orthology between foxtail millet and sorghum, followed by maize, rice and Brachypodium. Heat map analysis showed tissue-specific expression pattern of predominant SiMYB genes. Expression profiling of candidate MYB genes against abiotic stresses and hormone treatments using qRT-PCR revealed specific and/or overlapping expression patterns of SiMYBs. Taken together, the present study provides a foundation for evolutionary and functional characterization of MYB TFs in foxtail millet to dissect their functions in response to environmental stimuli.
