SEMANTICS ,ONTOLOGY - Abstract
In this article, we introduce a new framework, the Intensional–Ontological Model (IOM), for representing meaning, and especially for representing semantic change, in linguistic linked data resources. This framework, which makes use of previous work in the literature on lexical semantics and ontologies, is intended to help clarify what we mean when we model semantic change and to assist in elaborating different ontology patterns for doing so. In this work, we assume a simple architecture, one which is at the basis of the well-known OntoLex-Lemon vocabulary and which consists of one or more lexicons linked to an ontology. Our model, which is based on this architecture and informed by previous work on word senses and ontologies, is intended to provide a clear interpretation for the modelling of both onomasiological and semiasological changes, in both static and dynamic versions. This article describes how the IOM framework represents word meaning as the relationship between a word and an ontological concepts in the 'static' case, demonstrating that the IOM is compatible with OntoLex-Lemon (while at the same time providing a greater level of detail as to the meaning of the 'sense' and 'reference' relationships). It then goes on to detail how the IOM can help us understand how to model semantic shifts in linked data lexical resources with a focus on conceptual change and the addition of temporal information to semantic shift data. This article outlines essential best practices for retro-digitized dictionary projects, using the ongoing MORDigital project (DOI 10.54499/PTDC/LLT-LIN/6841/2020) as a case study. The MORDigital project focuses on digitally transforming the historically significant Portuguese Morais dictionary's first three editions (1789, 1813, 1823). While the primary objective is to create faithful digital versions of these renowned dictionaries, MORDigital stands out by going beyond the mere adoption of established best practices. Instead, it reflects on the choices made throughout the process, providing insights into the decision-making process. The key topics emphasized include (1) the establishment of a robust data model; (2) the refinement of metadata; (3) the implementation of consistent identifiers; and (4) the enhancement of encoding techniques; additionally exploring the issue of structuring domain labelling. The article aims to contribute to the ongoing discourse on best practices in retro-digitized dictionary projects and their implications for data preservation and knowledge organization. - Abstract
This paper describes the creation of a workbench tool designed to make technologies developed throughout the lifespan of the Cardamom project easily accessible to researchers who could most benefit from them, but who may not have the technical expertise to apply bleeding edge technologies to their own datasets. The workbench provides an intuitive graphical user interface (GUI) and workflow which abstract users away from underlying technical tasks, while providing them with a suite of powerful NLP tools developed by the Cardamom team. These include tokenisers, POS-taggers, various annotation tools, and ML models. The performance of workbench tools can be improved as text and annotations are added by users. It is envisioned that this workbench will provide a simple route to digital publication for academics in the humanities, or more specifically, for linguists working with under-resourced or historical languages, who have collected text data but are unable to make it available online as a result of financial or technical restraints. This has the added benefit of increasing the availability of high quality, annotated text data to NLP researchers, thereby providing value to both communities of researchers.

- Abstract
This paper describes the linking of a subset of five texts from the Latin Text Archive corpus of the Computational Historical Semantics project to the LiLa Knowledge Base of Interoperable Linguistic Resources for Latin for a total of about one million tokens, adding approximately 13 million and 750 thousand new triples to the Knowledge Base. To show the potentialities of linking those texts to other resources for Latin, the paper describes the results of a sample query conducted on the texts linked to the Knowledge Base.

This article provides a comprehensive and up-to-date survey of models and vocabularies for creating linguistic linked data (LLD) focusing on the latest developments in the area and both building upon and complementing previous works covering similar territory. The article begins with an overview of some recent trends which have had a significant impact on linked data models and vocabularies. Next, we give a general overview of existing vocabularies and models for different categories of LLD resource. After which we look at some of the latest developments in community standards and initiatives including descriptions of recent work on the OntoLex-Lemon model, a survey of recent initiatives in linguistic annotation and LLD, and a discussion of the LLD metadata vocabularies META-SHARE andlime. In the next part of the paper, we focus on the influence of projects on LLD models and vocabularies, starting with a general survey of relevant projects, before dedicating individual sections to a number of recent projects and their impact on LLD vocabularies and models. Finally, in the conclusion, we look ahead at some future challenges for LLD models and vocabularies. The appendix to the paper consists of a brief introduction to the OntoLex-Lemon model.

Research carried out in the SSH occurs across a wide array of disciplines and languages. While this specialization makes it possible to investigate a bewildering range of different topics, it also leads to a fragmentation that prevents SSH research from reaching its full potential. Use and reuse of SSH research is not as high as one might desire it to be, interdisciplinary collaboration possibilities are often missed, and as a result, the societal impact of this research can often be limited. TRIPLE strives to address these issues. With a consortium of 19 partners, TRIPLE proposes an integrated multilingual and multicultural solution for the appropriation of SSH resources. The TRIPLE platform will seek to provide an enhanced discovery experience thanks, in large part, to the linked exploration functionalities provided by the ISIDORE search engine, developed and maintained by CNRS-HumaNum 1. TRIPLE aims to be a coherent solution providing innovative tools to support Research (including tools for visualisation, annotation, trust building system, crowdfunding, social network and recommender system). Moreover TRIPLE will propose new ways to conduct and to discover research and will connect researchers, consortiums and institutions with other stakeholders (citizens, policy makers, companies) enabling them to formulate and articipate in research projects and respond to other issues. TRIPLE will be a dedicated service of OPERAS RI and seeks to become a strong service in the EOSC marketplace.

lexicographic standards (objective 2) - Abstract
The Lexical Markup Framework (LMF) or ISO 24613 [1] is a de jure standard which constitutes a framework for modelling and encoding lexical information both in retrodigitised print dictionaries as well as in NLP lexical databases. An in-depth review is currently underway within the standardisation sub-committee, ISO-TC37/SC4/WG4 with the goal of creating a more modular, flexible and durable follow up to the original LMF standard published by ISO in 2008. In this paper we will showcase some of the major improvements which have so far been implemented in the new version of LMF.

lexicographic standards (objective 2) - Abstract
Over the past few years the publication of lexical resources as Linked Data (LD) has taken on ever greater significance within the field of computational lexicography. So far the efforts of the community have been largely directed towards the definition of standards and the conversion of single resources (see McCrae et al 2012, Khan et al 2016), but with less of a focus on the technical possibilities afforded by this new mode of publishing lexical data. However, the fact is that the Semantic Web gives us access to a whole ecosystem of standards, languages, and technologies. In this paper we will look at one of these languages, the Semantic Web Rule Language(SWRL) and explore whether it might potentially play a useful role in the publication of lexical resources.

lexicographic standards (objective 2) - Abstract
In this article we look at the modelling of citations in lexical resources in linked data. We start by discussing the treatment of citations in linked data and in TEI; we also look at the idea of different conceptual levels as posited by models such as TEI and FRBR. We argue that in representing citations in lexical resources it is important not to confuse different levels of information and that at least in the case of attestations it is important to model the purpose of a citation, or the claim that is being made by that citation, separately. We develop this point with two separate examples, before presenting lemonBib our extension of the lemon model based around the idea of a lexical attestation. We also give a treatment of part of one of the examples described previously in the article.

- Abstract
In this work we propose a model for the representation of the narrative of a literary text. The model is structured in an ontology and a lexicon constituting a knowledge base that can be queried by a system. This narrative ontology, as well as describing the actors, locations, situations found in the text, provides an explicit formal representation of the timeline of the story. We will focus on a specific case study, that of the representation of a selected portion of Homer's Odyssey, in particular of the knowledge required to answer a selection of salient queries, formulated by a literary scholar. This work is being carried out within the framework of the Semantic Web by adopting models and standards such as RDF, OWL, SPARQL, and lemon among others.

In this article, we look at the potential for a wide-coverage modelling of etymological information as linked data using the Resource Data Framework (RDF) data model. We begin with a discussion of some of the most typical features of etymological data and the challenges that these might pose to an RDF-based modelling. We then propose a new vocabulary for representing etymological data, the Ontolex-lemon Etymological Extension (lemonETY), based on the ontolex-lemon model. Each of the main elements of our new model is motivated with reference to the preceding discussion. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This contribution presents D-Terminer: an open access, online demo for monolingual and multilingual automatic term extraction from parallel corpora. The monolingual term extraction is based on a recurrent neural network, with a supervised methodology that relies on pretrained embeddings. Candidate terms can be tagged in their original context and there is no need for a large corpus, as the methodology will work even for single sentences. With the bilingual term extraction from parallel corpora, potentially equivalent candidate term pairs are extracted from translation memories and manual annotation of the results shows that good equivalents are found for most candidate terms. Accompanying the release of the demo is an updated version of the ACTER Annotated Corpora for Term Extraction Research (version 1.5). ispartof: pages:33-40 ispartof: Proceedings of the Workshop on Terminology in the 21st Century : Many Faces, Many Places, co-located with the LREC 2022 conference pages:33-40 ispartof: Workshop on Terminology in the 21st Century : Many Faces, Many Places, co-located with the LREC 2022 conference location:Marseille, France date:20 Jun - 25 Jun 2022 status: published
