Adolescents are more likely to engage in risky health practices related to COVID-19. Their compliance with infection control measures is a key factor to mitigate the spread of the disease. The purpose of this study was to explore the knowledge, attitudes, and practices toward COVID-19 and their correlates among Jordanian adolescents. An online cross-sectional survey was utilized. A total of 1,054 Jordanian adolescents aged 12-18 completed and returned the survey. Overall, Jordanian adolescents showed a good base of knowledge regarding COVID-19 (regardless of their demographic characteristics) and tended to hold positive attitudes toward the country's curfew and other protective measures. The majority of adolescents reported that television and social media were their main source of information on COVID-19, while few reported receiving such information from their schools. The majority reported practicing effective health protective behaviors to prevent the spread of COVID-19, which was significantly predicted by their knowledge and attitudes toward these measures. However, there was a relatively small, yet clinically significant, percentage of adolescents who showed poor knowledge on COVID-19, had negative attitudes toward protective measures, and reported being engaged in risky practices related to infection spread. Tailored efforts are needed to improve the levels of knowledge, attitudes, and practices among adolescents. Raising awareness and promoting positive attitudes are vital to change adolescents' health practices. Policy makers should ensure that school nurses are available in all schools and working to their full scope. School nurses are the eyes and ears of public health and primary care. They are essential members on pandemic preparedness, reopening and reentry planning teams, and can lead health care in schools and practice in a holistic culturally competent proactive manner to address the needs of students.

Introduction: In the last decade, disasters increased by 60% worldwide. These occurrences have resulted in approximately two million deaths and 4.2 million injuries and left 33 million people homeless. Nurses are part of the front-line response team and should be critical during disasters. For nurses to respond competently, they must have the knowledge and skills to provide comprehensive and holistic care to the populations affected by disasters. Objectives: This study aims to assess the level of competencies among nurses providing disaster care and identify their predictors. Method: A descriptive correlation design was utilized to measure and predict nursing competencies in providing care to individuals amid disasters. An electronic form of disaster response competencies assessment survey was distributed to 400 nurses working at three public hospitals in the central region of Jordan. Results: Jordanian nurses reported a moderate level of competencies in providing care for individuals. Furthermore, multiple regression analysis revealed that disaster training, disaster education, sex, and real disaster experience significantly predict nurses' competencies. Conclusion: With the increasing frequency of disasters, nurses should be adequately prepared to respond to disasters competently to relieve the negative consequences of these events on the affected individuals. The incidence of stroke in younger adults is rising, particularly among women living with stroke who face multiple physical, psychological, and social challenges that negatively affect their quality of life. Consequently, women's roles in life would be negatively affected at home, work, and in society. This study aimed to explore the lived experience of women suffering from a stroke in Jordan. This paper uses semi-structured interviews to present a descriptive phenomenological study of eight young women suffering from a stroke. The Colaizzi (1978) method was used to analyze interview transcripts. Three main emerging themes that describe the lived experiences of women with a stroke: 1) Experiencing stroke as a woman; 2) Stroke and the intimate relationship with the spouse; 3) Challenges of women's journey while receiving health care. After their stroke, Jordanian women have experienced profound, interrelated, and multifaceted difficulties in all aspects of their life and relationships inside and outside the family. Background: Midwives can play a pivotal role in promoting natural-birth experiences. However, limited information is available about Jordanian laboring women’s experiences of natural childbirth guided by midwives. Understanding women’s experiences of natural birth can inform healthcare providers and policymakers to improve the care provided for laboring women. Purpose: This study aims to explore women's experiences of natural childbirth in a midwife-led care unit. Methods: A qualitative descriptive approach guided the study protocol. Data was collected through in-depth, semi-structured telephone interviews with 10 Jordanian women who experienced natural childbirth in a midwife-led care unit. Results: Two main themes emerged: “The journey of empowerment “and “being prepared for natural childbirth". The first theme consisted of two sub-themes: Making an informed decision, and being supported. The second theme consisted of three sub-themes: The power of the place, being satisfied with natural-childbirth practices, and feeling relieved. Conclusion: Women had positive childbirth experiences shaped by having autonomy in decision-making, perceived support, and being satisfied with the midwife-led care unit. Women’s positive experiences emphasize the need for social and political change to promote natural childbirth. Implications for Nursing: This paper provides evidence that supports the incorporation of midwife-led units to promote natural childbirth. New data will play a critical role in strengthening the responsibilities of nurses and midwives by raising public awareness and calling for policy changes to promote natural childbirth. Research on domestic violence against women has increased considerably over the past few decades. Most participants in such studies find the exercise worthwhile and of greater benefit than emotional cost; however, systematic examination of participant reaction to research on violence is considerably lacking, especially in the Middle East region. This study begins to fill this gap by examining women's reactions to domestic violence research in Jordan and whether a personal history of violence is associated with unfavorable experiences. This sequential exploratory mixed methods study included 17 focus group discussions (FGD) with women in Amman followed by a survey conducted in reproductive health clinics throughout the country (pilot n = 30; survey n = 517). Open coding was used to identify the theme related to participant reaction in the FGD data. This construct was further examined by the subsequent survey that included dichotomous questions inquiring whether the respondent thought the study questions were important and whether they were angry or felt resentment as a result of the survey. One open-ended question on the survey provided additional qualitative data on the theme that was combined with the FGD data. Themes identified in the qualitative data pertained to expressions of gratitude and comments on the survey's value. Findings of this study indicate that Jordanian women's responses to the research process are similar to women currently represented by the extant literature in that a vast majority of its participants felt that the study was important (95%) and it did not evoke anger or resentment (96%). Many even found the study to be useful to them personally or to society. Among those who had a negative emotional reaction, most still found the research to be important. This study's findings highlight the safety and potential benefits of ethically conducted violence research. (Contains 3 tables.)

Pregnancy is a critical period in women's lives, maternal psychological wellbeing during this period is a core component of health. Physiological changes during pregnancy affect women's mental status and may lead to negative consequences, if not managed properly. Recently, Covid-19 pandemic resulted in additional consequences on pregnant women's mental wellbeing along with psychological effects of the pregnancy itself. Therefore, it is crucial to prevent the negative consequences of the psychological changes during pregnancy to overcome it without complications. Current literature review explains the associated main psychological attributes among pregnant women before, during and after Covid-19 pandemic; including fear of childbirth and prenatal anxiety. Understanding the impact of Covid-19 pandemic on the psychological aspects during pregnancy will help healthcare professionals decide upon suitable strategies to assist pregnant women to overcome the negative consequences of the psychological difficulties. Background: E-learning has expanded recently in response to the social distance measures during COVID-19 pandemic. A part of the learning process is evaluating its effectiveness and impact on learners. Aim: to examine nursing students' perceptions of e-learning during COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: A literature search to identify publications on perceptions of e-learning was conducted via three databases. Conclusion: Sixty five articles were included and reviewed. The articles addressed the following: (1) benefits of e-learning, (2) drawbacks and challenges (3) Students' interaction, (4) e-learning environment (5) students' engagement and satisfaction, (6) e-learning during COVID-19 pandemic, and (7) Clinical training during COVID-19 pandemic. Shifting to E-learning during the COVID-19 pandemic has many benefits that positively impact student health status and learning outcome, although it has several drawbacks and barriers that can affect the learning process quality. Background: In Jordan, The Healthy School National Accreditation has been introduced in 2008 as a national health-promoting school program where schools are invited to voluntarily join the accreditation. Unfortunately, financial challenges and lack of resources among many other factors led to very low enrollment rate. Method: Adopting a selected change theory can be beneficial in making the decision and successfully implementing the intended change. Rogers's diffusion of innovations theory was adopted by a public school administration to join the accreditation. This theory provides an explanation on how and at what rate new innovations take place and spread out over time in any system.The school health committee went through the five stages proposed by the theory and successfully implemented the accreditation. Conclusion: Adopting Rogers's diffusion of innovations theory can be beneficial iN implementing the school health-promoting programs. Implication for School Health: School administrators, school health nurses and school health teachers are strongly advised to adopt this theory while they are considering joining the school health-promoting programs.
