Sixty genotypes of okra were evaluated in one location for two years at Chatha, Jammu during 2009-10 and 2010-11. The objective was to study the genetic variability between various economically important traits for the purpose of genetic improvement. The estimates of phenotypic coefficient of variation (PCV) were higher than genotypic coefficient of variation for all the characters indicating the less environment influences. The results showed variation in all genotypes and characters. Characters such as seed yield per plant and number of fruits per plant showed high genotypic coefficient of variation, heritability and genetic advance which indicates that selection of these characters. Context: Rohitukine is an important precursor for the synthesis of potential anticancer drugs flavopiridol (Sanofi-Aventis) and P-276-00 (Piramal Healthcare Limited, Mumbai, India). Trunk bark of Dysoxylum binectariferum (Roxb.) Hook. f. ex Bedd. (Meliaceae) is the widely used source for isolation of rohitukine. However, removal of trunk bark threatens the survival of the tree. Objective: To investigate the amount of rohitukine accumulated in other tissues of D. binectariferum. Materials and methods: Rohitukine standard was isolated from leaves of D. binectariferum. Its purity was ascertained using HR-MS and NMR. Crude extracts were prepared from different tissues of D. binectariferum. Rohitukine content in all the tissues was quantified by HPLC. Results: Rohitukine accumulates in a significant amount in seeds, trunk bark, leaves, twigs, and fruits of D. binectariferum. Seeds have the highest rohitukine content (2.42%, dry weight) followed by trunk bark (1.34%, dry weight), leaves (1.064%, dry weight), twigs (0.844% dry weight), and fruits (0.4559% dry weight). Lameness survey was conducted in a rural community development block of Haryana in 1985. Enumerators contacted school teachers, anganwadi workers and several key informants in the community to identify lame children in 1-11 years age-group. Physician verified 219 lame cases to be due to poliomyelitis. Prevalence of poliomyelitis lameness was 7.3/1000 children born in 1974-76, 7.7/1000 children born in 1977-1980 and 2.3/1000 children born in 1981-1984 (expected to increase to 3.1/1000 when all children born in 1981-84 cross 5th year of life). Immunisation coverage with 3 doses of oral polio vaccine (OPV) was less than 10% during 1974-80 when immunisation was a clinic based activity. Coverage increased from 50 to 80% during 1981-85 when OPV was given in annual immunisation campaign. The results indicate that prevalence of paralytic poliomyelitis dropped at least by 60% after giving OPV in annual immunisation campaigns. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

An accurate and efficient approach is required to identify the unknown parameters of solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) mathematical model for a robust design of any energy system considering SOFC. This research study proposes a modified fire hawk algorithm (MFHA) to determine the values of SOFC model parameters. The performance evaluation of MFHA is tested on two case studies. Firstly, the performance of MFHA is tested on commercially available cylindrical cell developed by Siemens at four temperatures. Results reveal that the least value of sum of squared error (SSE) is 1.04E-05, 2.30E-05, 1.03E-05, and 1.60E-05 at 1073 K, 1173 K, 1213 K, and 1273 K respectively. Results obtained using MFHA have been compared with original fire hawk algorithm (FHA) and other well established and recent algorithms. Secondly, MFHA is implemented for estimating unknown parameters of a 5 kW dynamic tabular stack of 96 cells at various pressures and temperatures. The obtained value of SSE at different temperatures of 873 K, 923 K, 973 K, 1023 K and 1073 K is 1.18E-03, 6.12E-03, 2.21E-02, 5.18E-02, and 6.00E-02, respectively whereas, SSE at different pressures of 1 atm, 2 atm, 3 atm, 4 atm, and 5 atm is 6.05E-02, 6.11E-02, 5.53E-02, 5.11E-02, and 6.64E-02 respectively., (© 2024. Owing to early diagnosis and treatment of cancer as a prerequisite in recent times, the role of machine learning has been increased substantially. The mathematically powerful and optimized solutions for the detection and cure of cancer are constantly being explored and novel models based upon standard algorithms are also being developed. Leveraging one such solution is Reinforcement Learning (RL), which is a semi-supervised type of learning. The paper presents a detailed discussion on the various RL techniques, algorithms, and open issues, in addition to the review of literature for diagnosis and treatment of cancer. A smaller number of publications for diagnosis and treatment of cancer have been reported before 2011 but now after the success of Deep Learning (DL) and the advent of Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL), the publications have grown in number from 2017 onwards. The scope of RL for cancer diagnosis and treatment is also demystified and provides the research community with the insights of how to formulate RL problem as a Cancer diagnostic problem. Herein we report the mild and efficient synthesis of 4-phenoxyquinazoline, 2-phenoxyquinoxaline, and 2-phenoxypyridine derivatives from the starting materials viz. quinazolin-4(3 H )-one, quinoxalin-2(1 H )-one, and pyridin-2(1 H )-one and aryne generated in situ from 2-(trimethylsilyl)phenyl trifluoromethanesulfonate and cesium fluoride. Background: Recent studies show that there are differences in female fertility in different ethnic groups with ovarian aging and IVF treatment outcomes. Advanced maternal age is a known risk factor for miscarriage, accounting largely due to genetically abnormal fetus., Aims and Objectives: This study investigates if there are any differences in rates of embryo aneuploidy based on age and indications for preimplantation genetic screening (PGS) between Indian and Spanish women., Materials and Methods: This multicenter study was carried out at fertility centers in India and Spain. Data from autologous IVF cycles of women <45 years age (Spanish: 39.4 ± 3.8 years; Indian: 35.3 ± 4.6 years) were included. A total of 37,962 embryos from 7009 IVF cycles from Spain and 1894 embryos from 308 IVF cycles from India, having similar clinical indications, underwent similar IVF treatment protocol. The embryos were analyzed by PGS using either a day-3 or day-5/6 embryo biopsy., Results: Both Indian and Spanish ethnic population showed a reduction in aneuploidy rate in day-5/6 biopsy compared with day-3 biopsy (Spanish: 53.3% vs. 81.1%, P < 0.01; Indian: 50% vs. 75%, P < 0.02). There was a significant decrease in highly abnormal or chaotic embryos in trophectoderm biopsies compared with day-3 biopsies (Spanish: 2% vs. 16.1%, P < 0.01; Indian: 2.5% vs. 17.7%, P < 0.01). Both the populations showed similar trend in aneuploidy rate with maternal age. The results showed no significance between aneuploidy rate compared within different age groups and indications. However, there was a significant reduction in the miscarriage rate in Spanish population in day-3 biopsy compared with Indian population (10.7% vs. 19.8%; P < 0.05; 95% confidence interval [0.0044-0.0712]). There were no differences in the clinical outcomes compared between the two populations., Conclusion: This study shows that the aneuploidy rates between Indian and Spanish women of the same age group undergoing IVF treatment do not differ. Rett spectrum disorder is a progressive neurological disease and the most common genetic cause of intellectual disability in females. MECP2 is the major causative gene. In addition, CDKL5 and FOXG1 mutations have been reported in Rett patients, especially with the atypical presentation. Each gene and different mutations within each gene contribute to variability in clinical presentation, and several groups worldwide performed genotype-phenotype correlation studies using cohorts of patients with classic and atypical forms of Rett spectrum disorder. The Rett Networked Database is a unified registry of clinical and molecular data of Rett patients, and it is currently one of the largest Rett registries worldwide with several hundred records provided by Rett expert clinicians from 13 countries. Collected data revealed that the majority of MECP2 -mutated patients present with the classic form, the majority of CDKL5 -mutated patients with the early-onset seizure variant, and the majority of FOXG1 -mutated patients with the congenital form. A computation of severity scores further revealed significant differences between groups of patients and correlation with mutation types. The highly detailed phenotypic information contained in the Rett Networked Database allows the grouping of patients presenting specific clinical and genetic characteristics for studies by the Rett community and beyond. These data will also serve for the development of clinical trials involving homogeneous groups of patients.
