Surgical approaches to primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) have been associated with a change from invasive to non-invasive methods in the last 20 years. In this cross-sectional descriptive study, 55 patients with primary adenoma-induced HPT underwent surgery. The parathyroid gland in patients with primary hyperparathyroidism caused by parathyroid adenoma was removed by open surgery with an incision of about 2 cm in the neck in a targeted manner in a site localized by ultrasound or Sestamibi scan. The patients' personal information, including age, sex, length of hospital stay, serum calcium and parathyroid hormone (PTH) levels, success rate, and problems and unwanted adverse consequences of surgery (e.g. infection and bleeding) were recorded for each patient and collected information was analyzed in SPSS software. Most patients were women (80%) and individuals in the age range of 41-60 years (47.3%). The hospital stay length ranged from 2 to 5 days with an average of 3.25±0.9 days. Success was considered as a decrease in PTH and calcium levels during the first 24 h after the intervention, and success rates of 100, 98.2, and 69.1%, respectively, were evaluated for a reduction of at least 50% in PTH levels and less than 40 ng/ml of PTH levels. No major complications were reported in the studied patients. Wilcoxon test revealed significant decreases in patients' postoperative serum calcium and PTH levels (P=0.000). Hemodialysis access has been considered as a support for end-stage renal patients. We measured the hemodynamic changes of the distal part of the upper extremity immediately after providing the AVGs in each method mentioned above and then compared the results. This method is a novel one and hasn’t been used in any other studies before. We studied 32 patients referred to the vascular surgery department of Rasht Razi Hospital between 2019-2020 (using the Convenient Sampling method). This study is a case-control study. Out of 32 patients referred to the vascular surgery department of the hospital, 68.8% were male, and their mean age was 53.41±12.75 years, ranging from 28 to 78 years. Changes in distal arterial hemodynamics of the upper limb before and after clamping in dialysis venoarterial loop versus straight grafts are different in studied patients (P<0.05). The mean hemodynamic changes before and after clamping in loop venoarterial grafts (19.5000) are less than straight grafts. In dialysis patients who do not have any superficial vein suitable for venous, arterial fistula, surgical placement of artificial grafts in the upper limb is appropriate. Background: Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) can play a vital role in decreasing morbidity and mortality. Due to the increasing development of electronic systems, their use can be effective in improving the quality of services and reducing costs. This study aimed to assess the satisfaction of EMTs with electronic forms. Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional analytical study was conducted on 99 EMTs in Rasht City, Iran. Data was collected via a questionnaire, including demographic characteristics (age, sex, work experience, type of employment, level of education, field of study, and retraining course) and 17 questions about the satisfaction of personnel in using electronic forms. The validity and reliability of the questionnaire were assessed by 7 emergency medicine specialists via a pilot study. The questionnaire had a Likert scale to respond with Cronbach's alpha of 0.83. Data were analyzed using SPSS software v. 22. Results: The Mean±SD age of participants was 36.08±0.73 years. Most of them had a bachelor's degree (71.7%), contractual employment (40.4%), and Bachelor of Science (BSc) in nursing (46.5%) or emergency technician (42.4%). Their average work experience was 10.45±0.69 years. The level of satisfaction of most EMTs (65.7%) in using the electronic form was moderate, which statistically had a significant relationship with their employment status (P<05). Conclusion: According to the average satisfaction of EMTs in using electronic forms, it is necessary to increase the level of use and satisfaction of electronic forms by holding appropriate retraining programs on how to use and benefits of electronic forms. Background Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel are often the first to provide healthcare services to the patient in different situations outside the hospital. Due to the sensitivity of this work, knowledge of ambulance equipment can affect the performance of Emergency Medical Services personnel. Objective This study aims to assess the knowledge of pre-hospital EMS personnel in Rasht, Iran about ambulance equipment. Methods This cross-sectional analytical study was conducted on 84 EMS personnel who were selected from 17 medical centers in Rasht, Iran using a convenience sampling method. The data collection tool was a two-part questionnaire. The first part surveys demographic characteristics (age, gender, work experience, type of employment, education, field of study, history of retraining courses) and the second part assesses the knowledge of ambulance equipment according to the Pre-hospital Emergency Medicine/Equipment User Manual of Iranian Ministry of Health and Medical Education (fourth edition). The data were analyzed in SPSS v. 22 software and the significance level was set at 0.05. Results Most of participants had a bachelor's degree, were under permanent employment, and had a degree in nursing and emergency medicine. Their mean work experience was 9.84±6.41 years, and most of them had a history of participating in retraining courses. Their knowledge of ambulance equipment was at a good level. Kruskal-Wallis test showed that their knowledge level had a significant relationship with their type of employment (P<0.001). Conclusion It is necessary to increase the knowledge level of pre-hospital EMS personnel about ambulance equipment by holding short-term training courses and using simulation methods. Background and Objectives: Corruption is a complex and multifaceted phenomenon emerging when people misuse their power for personal gain. The current study aimed to delve into the causes of corruption in hospitals and anti-corruption preventive measures. Methods: In this review study, national and international databases were searched using the keywords "corruption", "health" and "hospital" and their English equivalents, both separately and in conjunction. Results: In both advanced and developing countries, corruption is on the rise in hospitals and related preventive measures are steadily getting more complicated. In addition, informal payments have affected hospitals and paying for officially free of charge services has led to patients' distrust in the healthcare system.. Conclusion: Allocation of different roles and responsibilities to regulators, payers, healthcare providers, suppliers, and consumers has made good decision-making difficult even with the absolute honesty of all the people involved.
