O abcesso hepático piogênico é uma patologia grave que está associada com aumento da morbidade e mortalidade nos indivíduos acometidos. As técnicas convencionais para a detecção de abcessos hepáticos, que incluem os exames laboratoriais de hematologia, microbiologia e bioquímica, são pouco eficientes, se tornando necessária a avaliação por outros métodos mais sensíveis e específicos. O objetivo deste trabalho foi caracterizar e avaliar a eficácia da técnica de tomografia computadorizada no diagnóstico dos abcessos hepáticos piogênicos. Esta pesquisa foi realizada nos bancos de dados de diversas revistas nacionais e internacionais, indexadas nas bases: SCIELO, PubMed e LILACS. A tomografia computadorizada tem um inestimável valor diagnóstico para pacientes com suspeita de infecções intra-abdominais, sobretudo as que utilizam contraste intravenoso. Há uma grande variedade de protocolos específicos utilizados em tomografias computadorizadas de abdome para as mais diversas suspeitas clínicas e esse método vem se mostrando seguro e eficaz para o diagnóstico, diferenciação e caracterização da etiopatologia dos abcessos hepáticos piogênicos. A técnica de Tomografia Computadorizada, sobretudo as técnicas mais recentes baseadas no uso do contraste, vem se mostrando não só eficiente para detectar, mas também para guiar o tratamento dos abcessos hepáticos piogênicos. Esse fato se deve a sua maior sensibilidade em relação aos outros métodos bioquímicos, hematológicos, microbiológicos e imaginológicos disponíveis atualmente e está relacionado com a diminuição da mortalidade nos pacientes acometidos por essa patologia.

International audience; The charge and electron transport properties of molten ionic systems are among the most relevant properties to consider in the control of several electrochemical processes. First-principles-based equilibrium molecular dynamics (EMD) can provide reliable predictions of both the total and partial charge transport properties. In this work we calculate the charge transport properties of the electrolytic bath (Na 3 AlF 6-AlF 3-Al 2 O 3) of the Hall-Héroult electrolysis cells. We predict both the individual and collective charge transport properties (total, partial conductivity and self diffusion coefficients) for 11 different compositions typical of industrial conditions via a series of EMD simulations. The predicted total and partial ionic conductivities and their composition dependence are compared to available experimental data. A good agreement is obtained for all studied compositions. From a more fundamental point of view, the microscopic aspect of the charge transport properties of cryolitic melts is discussed through its correlation to the local structure of different melts. Deviations between the calculated partial conductivities and those derived via the Nernst-Einstein approximation can be explained by the presence of strong short-range ordering within the melts.

O estudo teve como objetivo comparar a função mastigatória de idosos com e sem AR e comprometimento da ATM. Para isso, 30 voluntários com idade igual ou acima de 60 anos, parcial ou totalmente desdentados foram selecionados em dois grupos: (1) com AR e DTM, (2) sem AR e sem DTM (controle). O comprometimento da ATM foi avaliado através do RDC/TMD. Os voluntários foram reabilitados por meio de próteses removíveis e avaliados, antes e após a instalação das novas próteses, quanto às variáveis: força máxima de mordida (FMM), performance mastigatória (PM), movimentos mastigatórios, amplitudes máximas de movimentos mandibulares e impacto da saúde oral na qualidade de vida (ISOQV). A FMM foi determinada por meio de sensores de pressão colocados bilateralmente na região dos molares. A PM foi avaliada por método de fracionamento em peneiras, utilizando material teste, considerando o tamanho mediano de partículas (X50) e a distribuição das partículas ao longo das peneiras (b). Traçados eletromagnéticos da trajetória mandibular foram utilizados para avaliar os movimentos mastigatórios (tempo, angulação e velocidade) durante a mastigação de material teste e as amplitudes máximas dos movimentos mandibulares (abertura sagital e vertical, lateralidade direita e esquerda, desvio lateral mandibular e protrusão). O ISOQV foi avaliado pelo OHIP-14 e seus domínios envolvendo aspectos físicos, pscicológicos e sociais. International audience; In situ high temperature NMR spectroscopy was used to characterize the NaF-ScF3 melt over a wide range of compositions. 19 F, 23 Na, and 45 Sc NMR spectra were acquired in NaF-ScF3 melts of up to 70 mol% of ScF3. The interpretation of all experimental results obtained in situ in the melt is significantly enhanced by the contribution of Molecular Dynamics (MD) calculations. A new interatomic potential for the molten NaF-ScF3 system was developed by using a Polarizable Ion Model (PIM). The potential parameters were obtained by force-fitting to density functional theory (DFT) reference data. MD simulations were combined with further DFT calculations to determine NMR chemical shifts for 19 F, 23 Na, and 45 Sc. The agreement between the experimental NMR data and the corresponding calculated data from our applied computational protocol indicated the polymerization and network formation in the melt. Additionally, the density and the electrical conductivity in the molten state were calculated from the statistical analysis of ionic trajectories obtained through MD simulations.

Entity Resolution (ER) in data integration systems is the problem of identifying groups of tuples from one or multiple data sources that represent the same real-world entity. This is a crucial stage of data integration processes, which often need to integrate data at query-time. This task becomes even more challenging in scenarios with dynamic data sources or when a large volume of data needs to be integrated. Then, to deal with large volumes of data, new ER solutions have been proposed. One possible approach consists in performing the ER process over query results rather than in the whole set of tuples being integrated. Additionally, previous results of ER tasks can be reused in order to reduce the number of comparisons between pairs of tuples at query-time. In a similar way, indexing techniques can also be employed to help the identification of equivalent tuples and to reduce the number of comparisons between pairs of tuples. In this context, this work proposes an incremental ER process over query results. The contributions of this work are the specification, the implementation and the evaluation of the proposed incremental process. We performed some experiments and we concluded that the incremental ER at query-time is more efficient than traditional ER processes.

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a prevalent disease in the elderly population, and it may affect the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) and the stomatognathic system. This study evaluated masticatory function in elderly patients with RA before and after oral rehabilitation with removable prostheses. Forty-five elders with partial or total edentulism who were using unsatisfactory removable prostheses were selected and assigned to 3 groups: RA with TMJ involvement, RA without TMJ involvement and healthy controls. Masticatory function was assessed in terms of masticatory performance (MP) and maximum bite force (MBF). The former was determined by the sieving method, and the latter was measured by pressure sensors placed in the bilateral molar regions. The variables were first evaluated in elderly subjects wearing unsatisfactory prostheses and re-assessed after participants had received new removable prostheses. Knowing the charge-transport properties of molten oxides is essential for industrial applications, particularly when attempting to control the energy required to separate a metal from its ore concentrate. Nowadays, in the context of a drastic increase of computational resources, research in industrial process simulation and their optimization is gaining popularity. Such simulations require accurate data as input for properties in a wide range of compositions, temperatures, and mechanical stresses. Unfortunately, due to their high melting points, we observe a severe lack of (reproducible) experimental data for many of the molten oxides. An alternative consists in using molecular dynamic simulations employing nonempirical force fields to predict the charge-transport properties of molten oxides and thus alleviate the lack of experimental data. Here, we study molten alumina using two polarizable force fields, with different levels of sophistication, parameterized on electronic structure calculations only. After validating the models against the experimental sets of density and electrical conductivity, we are able to determine the various ionic contributions to the overall charge transport in a wide range of temperatures.

International audience; Molten cryolite (NaF-AlF 3) plays a key role for aluminum production since it is used as a solvent. Among the various leads to improve the electrochemical processes, adding other fluoride salts is one of the most promising. However there is very few data on the impact of these additional species on the physico-chemical properties of the melt. In order to fill this gap we investigate the properties of high temperature KF-AlF 3 liquids by combining NMR spectroscopy, molecular dynamics and DFT calculations. Our results show that the speciation, and consequently the transport properties differ from that of cryolite. This work will allow to assess the interest of adding KF in aluminium production processes.

Objective: To evaluate the health conditions and quality of life of primary healthcare professionals from Santa Maria, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Material and Methods: This was a cross-sectional study performed in six primary healthcare units. The sample was composed by 42 professionals who responded a semi-open questionnaire and one healthcare facility was randomly selected to participate of a focus group. Quantitative and qualitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and thematic content analysis, respectively. Results: 60% of the sample presented pain or physical complaints, particularly musculoskeletal problems and headache. In addition, 48% of the professionals reported having had depressive episodes and not having looked for help; 55% of respondents considered themselves stressed out, while 50% and 40% of them did not perform physical or leisure activities, respectively. A total of 72% of the professionals reported that work affects their health and quality of life and 62% reported that their health influences the performance of their work in primary care. Conclusions: Primary healthcare professionals presented physical and emotional fatigue and showed low practice of healthy behaviors. This may be a result of their work routine, which compromises their quality of life. Despite providing a low-technology assistance, primary healthcare brings a great demand of workload, suggesting that the government policy focused on the workers’ health should have a special look into primary healthcare professionals. For aluminum production, the alumina (Al2O3) dissolution in the electrolyte is one of the important step in the industrial process. The electrolyte is a cryolitic bath containing mainly NaF and AlF3 at around 1000 °C. In this liquid, the main anionic species are fluoroaluminates ions such as [AlF6]3–, [AlF5]2–, [AlF4]−, and F–. During the Al2O3 dissolution, different kinds of oxyfluoroaluminates species are formed. However, due to the difficult experimental conditions and the large number of potential ions, no quantitative speciation could be made up to now. Here, we propose a speciation of alumina–cryolite melts combining in situ NMR experiments, classical molecular dynamics simulations, and electronic structure calculations. This allows us to establish the nature and quantities of each species, depending on the Al2O3 concentration, for two different initial cryolitic compositions. Individual transport numbers provide a measure of the charge ratio which is carried by each ionic species of an electrolyte. However, unlike the electrical conductivity or diffusion coefficients, this quantity lacks a clear definition from the statistical mechanics point of view. In practice, it is measured via complex experimental setups, and most of the interpretation of the available data is made by using the Nernst–Einstein approximation. Here we show that this approach is not suitable in molten salts due to the large contributions of the cross-terms due to the ionic interactions in the total ionic conductivity. We propose a partition scheme that allows to attribute these cross-terms to the various ions, allowing for an estimate of the transport numbers in a series of molten salt formed by mixing NaF and AlF3 at various compositions. The results are interpreted using the speciation of the melt, which is characterized by the formation of various AlFx clusters. At large AlF3, the Na+ ions are shown to contribute almost totally to the ionic conductivity.

A thermodynamic evaluation and optimization of the CALPHAD type of the Cu-O-F system, together with phase diagram measurements, are considered in the present work as the first step towards a complete evaluation of Cu in the multicomponent system Cu-Fe-Ni-Na-Al-Ca-O-F. Differential Scanning Calorimetry experiments were conducted using a closed crucible to identify the phase transitions in the CuF2-Cu and CuF2-Pt pseudo-binary systems in the presence of oxide impurities. The thermograms and the diffractograms, as measured by X-Ray Diffraction, showed that reactions occurred in both systems, where the CuO impurity from the CuF2 reactant led to the formation of Cu2O after three or four runs. All new model parameters of the fluoride-rich region of the Cu-O-F system were optimized based on this study’s experimental results. Measured and calculated results are in good agreement and provide a new interpretation of the phase transitions reported in the literature.

A Resolução de Entidades (RE) é o problema de identificar grupos de tuplas (registros ou instâncias), em uma única ou múltiplas fontes de dados, que representam a mesma entidade do mundo real. Esta é uma etapa crucial do processo de integração de dados, que muitas vezes necessita integrar dados em tempo de consulta (online). Esta tarefa torna-se ainda mais onerosa quando são consideradas fontes dinâmicas e com grandes volumes de dados. Além disso, tais características, tornam o processo de RE mais desafiador, uma vez que a maioria das técnicas de RE (tradicional), processa todas as tuplas de uma única vez, ao invés de processar apenas as tuplas importantes para o usuário. Portanto, novas soluções são necessárias para contornar este problema. Neste trabalho é proposto um processo incremental e orientado à consulta para RE. O processo é considerado incremental porque a cada iteração um conjunto de novas tuplas é processado e adicionado às demais tuplas processadas previamente. O termo orientado à consulta é proveniente do fato do processo proposto ser aplicado apenas sobre resultados de consultas. As contribuições deste trabalho são: especificação, implementação e avaliação do processo proposto. O processo foi avaliado com diferentes algoritmos e sobre diferentes fontes de dados. Foram utilizadas medidas de qualidade e desempenho do processo. Observou-se que o processo proposto tem qualidade muito similar aos processos tradicionais de RE, contudo tem um desempenho melhor. The Entity Resolution (ER) is the problem of identifying groups of tuples (records or instances) from single or multiple data sources which represent the same real-world entities. ER is an essential step in data integration tasks, and it often demands to obtain results at query-time (online). Especially in settings containing dynamic data sources with large volumes of data, the ER process can be still more challenging. However, most traditional ER techniques process all tuples at once, instead of considering tuples based on a query. This lead to a need for solutions to get around this problem. This work proposes a query-driven incremental process for ER. In this case, incremental means that in each iteration phase, the currently processed tuples will increase the set of previous tuples. The term query-driven means that the process in each iteration considers only tuples regarding the query result. The contributions of this work are the specification, development, and evaluation of the proposed process. Regarding the evaluation, we have used it in existing algorithms on different data sources. We conclude that the use of previous results in ER tasks turns the process more efficient than comparing all pairs of tuples at query-time, without reducing the quality of results.

Silica nanoparticles (SiNPs) with the average size of 8.4 nm have been synthesized and functionalized with the reaction of Cl-sulfonylphenylethyl tri-methoxysilane. These functionalized SiNPs have been anchored in scorpionate compounds i.e., [CuCl 2 {HOCH 2 C(pz) 3 }], [V OCl 2 {HOCH 2 C(pz) 3 }], and [V(acac) {HOCH 2 C(pz) 3 }] as hybrid nano-catalysts. The presence of metal compound over support was confirmed with FTIR, EPR, TGA, TEM, XRD, AAS, and TEM–EDS. These catalysts have produced remarkable high TONs ca. 1216–2607 with yields 13.7–27.3% for the selective oxidation of cyclohexane ( Cy-hx ) with molecular oxygen under relatively mild conditions. Very high about 95% products selectivity of Cy = O and Cy-OH was also attained. The TGA analysis indicates that all the catalysts were thermally stable under operating reaction temperature and reusable up to five more cycles.

N,N,N-Tri(1-pyrazolyl)methane europium complexes, [Eu{HC(pz)3}(H2O)6]Cl3, encapsulated with polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) gel, polyvinyl acetate (PVA) gel or hexagonal mesoporous silica–PVA (HMS–PVA), have been synthesized, by using a sol–gel technique, as hybrid materials. The geometric structure of the new Eu complex has been confirmed by single crystal X-ray analysis. The hybrid Eu–PVA sample has performed the most effective unit mass luminescence emission with a longer lifetime 444 μs, higher quantum efficiency, greater thermal stability and better exposure durability in comparison to the other Eu–PMMA (379 μs) and Eu–HMS–PVA (55 μs) samples. The characterization results support that these hybrid polymers have made a proper network structure with the Eu3+ complex and act as antennae for the transfer of energy to the central Eu3+ ions, and could be use for enhanced OLED light.

This thesis deals with the structural study of molten fluorides mixtures used for aluminium production by electrolysis. This process is obtained by dissolving alumina (Al₂O₃) in a molten cryolite bath (NaF-AlF₃ plus some additives) at 960°C. In order to obtain input data for the electrokinetic modeling of transport phenomena during the process, a better description of speciation in baths as a function of their composition and temperature is required.To determine this in situ speciation, we developed an original approach combining high temperature nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy with Molecular Dynamics (MD) simulations coupled with first principle calculations. Based on the density functional theory (DFT), it was possible to calculate the interaction parameters involved in NMR experiments and to evaluate the quality of the models derived from MD when compared to the experimental data.The measurements and simulations carried out in the MF-AlF₃ binary systems (M = Na or K) confirmed the presence of F- and anionic species [AlFₓ]³‾ˣ with a lifetime between 5 and 25 ps. The probability of forming dimers [Al2Fm]6-m is less than 10%. Regardless of alkali, the addition of alumina in these systems affects the proportion of AlF5²‾ species to form oxyfluoroaluminates: [Al₂OF6] ²‾, [Al₂OF8]⁴‾, [Al₂O₂F4] ²‾, [Al₂O₂F6]⁴‾ et [Al₂O₃F₂]²‾. The latter are little influenced by the presence of CaF₂. By partially dissociating, this contributes to modifying the chemical equilibria towards the more basic media and to increasing the average coordination of the aluminium ions.; Cette thèse porte sur l’étude structurale de mélanges de fluorures fondus utilisés pour la production d’aluminium par électrolyse. Ce procédé est obtenu par dissolution de l'alumine (Al₂O₃) dans un bain de cryolithe fondue (NaF-AlF₃ plus quelques additifs) à 960°C. Afin d’obtenir des données d’entrée pour la modélisation électrocinétique des phénomènes de transport durant le procédé, une meilleure description de la spéciation dans les bains en fonction de leur température et de leur composition est nécessaire.Pour déterminer cette spéciation in situ, nous avons développé une démarche originale combinant la spectroscopie par Résonance Magnétique Nucléaire (RMN) à haute température avec des simulations de Dynamique Moléculaire (DM) couplés à des calculs de premiers principes. Ces derniers basés sur la théorie de la fonctionnelle de la densité (DFT) ont permis de calculer les paramètres d’interaction mis en jeu lors des expériences RMN et d’évaluer la qualité des modèles issus de la DM par comparaison avec les données expérimentales.Les mesures et simulations effectuées dans les systèmes binaires MF-AlF₃ (M= Na ou K) ont confirmé la présence d’ions F‾ et d’espèces anioniques [AlFₓ]³‾ˣ avec une durée de vie comprise entre 5 et 25 ps. La probabilité de former des dimères du type [Al₂Fm]⁶‾ᵐ est inférieure à 10 %. Quel que soit l’alcalin, l’ajout d’alumine dans ces systèmes affecte la proportion d’espèce AlF5²‾ pour former des oxyfluoroaluminates : [Al₂OF6] ²‾, [Al₂OF8]⁴‾, [Al₂O₂F4] ²‾, [Al₂O₂F6]⁴‾ et [Al₂O₃F₂]²‾. Ces derniers sont peu influencés par la présence de CaF₂. En se dissociant partiellement, celui-ci contribue à modifier les équilibres chimiques vers les milieux plus basiques et à augmenter la coordinence moyenne des ions aluminium.

International audience; Improvement of the industrial electrolytic process for aluminum production necessitates a thorough understanding of the underlying ionic structure of the electrolyte, which mainly comprises NaF and AlF3 at around 965 °C. The chemical and physical properties of this melt strongly depend on the aluminum speciation, which requires a multipronged approach in order to clarify its properties. Here we parametrize a new polarizable ion model (PIM) interatomic potential for the molten NaF−AlF3 system, which is used to study the liquid properties up to 50 mol % of AlF$_3$ at high temperatures. The potential parameters are obtained by force fitting to density functional theory (DFT) reference data. Molecular dynamics (MD) simulations are combined with further DFT calculations to determine NMR chemical shifts for $^{27}$Al, $^{23}$Na, and $^{19}$F. An excellent agreement is obtained with experimental values. This enables the study of the dynamic properties of the melts such as viscosity, electrical conductivity, and self-diffusion coefficient.

A series of tricarbonyl Re(V) complexes, i.e. [Re(CO)3(κ3-PN2)] (1), [Re(CO)3Br(κ2-H2PNO)] (2), and [Re(CO)3Br(κ2-HPN-Pip)] (3), have been covalently anchored over modified SBA-15 as supported catalysts. Remarkably, high catalytic turnover numbers from 2240 to 2857 with high ketone selectivity was obtained for both C5 and C6-alkanes. Best oxidation condition was optimized by the variation of temperature, pressure, time and catalyst amount. A thermal stability test indicates that the catalysts are stable up to 200 °C and ICP shows negligible metal loss from the catalyst surface, after the 7th catalytic cycle, allowing further use.

Methoxysilane Schiff-base pentacoordinate metal complexes, i.e. Fe[Sal(PMeO-Si)DPTA], Ni[Sal(PMeO-Si)DPTA] and Mn[Sal(PMeO-Si)DPTA], were synthesized and single site covalently anchored into the uniform porous texture of HMS (2–10 nm size) via condensation process. The correspondent supported catalysts ( 4.a , 4.b and 4.c , respectively) were characterized by FT-IR, SEM/EDS, XRD, TG, EPR and AAS analysis. In the catalytic tests, they showed high efficiency in the selective oxidation of cyclohexane using molecular O 2 (overall conversion 40.7% with Cat. 4.a , 29.5% with Cat. 4.b and 26.2% with Cat. 4.c ) under relatively mild condition in batch reactor. The Cat. 4.a system (HMS/ 3.a ) exhibits highest TONs ca. 4.2 × 10 3 with good selectivity ca. 70% (48% ketone selectivity). The reaction mechanism involves free radicals, as it was proved by the addition of PPh 3 . Finally, these supported catalysts could be reuse up to several catalytic cycles.

Trimethoxysilane pentacoordinate Schiff-base Co(II) complexes, i.e. Co[Cl-Sal(PMeO-Si)DPTA], (3.a) and Co[F-Sal(PMeO-Si)DPTA], (3.b) and Co[FCl-Sal(PMeO-Si)DPTA], (3.c) (DPTA = bis(aminopropyl)amine, Sal = salicylaldehyde) were synthesized and anchored into SBA-15 matrix to obtain novel supported hybrid catalysts. The catalysts were characterized by FT-IR, TEM, SEM, XRD, TG and BET analysis. These supported complex catalysts were tested in the catalytic oxidation of n-hexane and n-heptane with O2 under relatively mild and solvent free conditions. A high TON of 3320 with 19.6% yield for n-hexane oxidation and a high TON of 3180 with 17.3% yield for n-heptane oxidation were obtained with 3.b anchored over SBA-15. The oxidation product regioselectivities were obtained as C1(1):C2(9.2):C3(10.7) for n-hexane and C1(1):C2(9.0):C3(9.7):C4(2.7) for n-heptane. The reaction of kinetics follows a pseudo first-order reaction for both n-alkanes. Enhanced yields (30.6% for n-hexane oxidation and 23.8% for n-heptane oxidation) were obtained with the addition of PCA (pyrazinecarboxylic acid); the catalytic results of reactions made in the presence of radical traps suggested that the catalytic oxidation of n-hexane and n-heptane proceeded via free radicals. The catalyst recycles tests showed that it could be reused up to 7th catalytic cycles.

The aim of this study was to compare the mandibular movements in older people with and without temporomandibular disorder (TMD) associated with rheumatoid arthritis (RA).Thirty partially or completely edentulous older adults (65.33 ± 4.7 years) were assigned to 2 groups: (1) with RA and TMD and (2) without RA and TMD. Chewing movements of the jaws during mastication of the test material (Optocal) and the range of mandibular movements were evaluated by using the JT-3-D kinesiographic device before and after new removable prosthesis insertion. Multiple comparisons were made with analysis of variance (ANOVA) and the Tukey-Kramer test.Comparisons between the 2 groups before and after new prosthesis insertion revealed that the RA and TMD group had reduced opening angles (P .05) during chewing. After insertion of new prostheses, both groups showed increased opening and closing angles during chewing (P .05). The mandibular range of motion results showed that patients with RA and TMD exhibited lower aperture and laterality movements (P .05) compared with controls before and after new prosthesis insertion. However, there was an increase in aperture, lefty laterality, and protrusion values after new prosthesis insertion in both groups.TMD associated with RA may impair mandibular movements. Well-fitted prostheses may improve mandibular movements in older adults, especially those with RA.

In aluminum production, the electrolyte is a molten fluorides mixture typically around 1000°C. In order to have a better understanding of the industrial process, it is necessary to have a model which will describe the molten salts on a wide range of compositions and temperatures, to accurately cover all the combinations that may be encountered in an operating electrolysis vessel. The aim of this study is to describe the speciation in the electrolyte in terms of anionic species in the bulk materials far from electrodes. To determine the speciation in situ at high temperature in the absence of an electrical field, we develop an original approach combining experimental methods such as Nuclear Magnetic Resonance spectroscopy (NMR) at high temperature with Molecular Dynamics (MD) simulation coupled with first principle calculations based on Density Functional Theory (DFT). This approach allows the calculation of NMR parameters and the comparison with the experimental ones. It will be provide an additional validation and constraint of the model used for MD. We test this approach on the model NaF-AlF3 system.

Single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) with Ni/Co have been prepared using an arc discharge technique and Ni/Co-carbon composite rods in an inert atmosphere and were surface modified using 3-aminophenyl trimethoxysilane. These NH2-functionalized magnetic carbon nanotubes have been used as a novel support for Pd((II)) and Pt((II)) pincer complexes immobilized as magnetic nano-catalysts. The morphology of the support and the catalysts have been characterized by IR, EPR, SEM, TGA, TEM, XRD, AAS and EDS analysis. These magnetic nano-catalysts have been tested on the industrially important cyclohexane (Cy-hx) oxidation with O2 and significantly high TONs of 1678 to 1946 were achieved under solvent free and relatively mild conditions. The SWNTs/Pd catalyst provided the best conversion, 22.7%, but the SWNTs/Pt system also provided a good conversion of 20.7%.

Denture hygiene is essential because denture biofilm is involved in oral infections and systemic diseases. Although there are chemical agents available on the market, none of them have ideal properties and research on such products is still necessary. The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of a castor bean (Ricinus communis)-based solution for removing denture biofilm, compared to two traditional products (sodium hypochlorite and alkaline peroxide). Fifty maxillary complete denture wearers were instructed to brush their dentures after meals and to immerse their dentures once a day in the following solutions: Saline (20 min; control), Polident alkaline peroxide (3 min), NaOCl (20 min) and 2% castor oil solution (20 min). Participants used each solution for a period of 7 consecutive days, according to a random sequence. After each period, the internal surfaces of maxillary complete dentures were stained with a disclosing solution (1% neutral red), photographed and the disclosed biofilm was quantified with the aid of specific software. O presente artigo descreve uma extensão do middleware Ginga, desenvolvida no contexto da plataforma Knowledge TV (KTV), que propõe uma camada semântica ao ambiente da TV Digital. É descrito o Semantic Integration, API da plataforma Knowledge TV, integrada ao middleware, responsável pela comunicação entre o servidor KTV e o middleware Ginga. Esta é responsável pela coleta de metadados da programação e o envio via canal de retorno para o servidor KTV.

The emerging scenario of interactive Digital TV (iDTV) is promoting the increase of interactivity in the communication process and also in audiovisual production, thus rising the number of channels and resources available to the user. This reality makes the task of finding the desired content becoming a costly and possibly ineffective action. The incorporation of recommender systems in the iDTV environment is emerging as a possible solution to this problem. This work aims to propose a hybrid approach to content recommendation in iDTV, based on data mining techniques, integrated the concepts of the Semantic Web, allowing structuring and standardization of data and consequent possibility of sharing information, providing semantics and automated reasoning. For the proposed service is considered the Brazilian Digital TV System and the middleware Ginga. A prototype has been developed and carried out experiments with NetFlix database using the measuring accuracy for evaluation. There was obtained an average accuracy of 30% using only mining technique. Including semantic rules obtained average accuracy of 35%. Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES Com o advento da TV Digital interativa (TVDi), nota-se o aumento de interatividade no processo de comunicação além do incremento das produções audiovisuais, elevando o número de canais e recursos disponíveis para o usuário. Esta realidade faz da tarefa de encontrar o conteúdo desejado uma ação onerosa e possivelmente ineficaz. A incorporação de sistemas de recomendação no ambiente TVDi emerge como uma possível solução para este problema. Este trabalho tem como objetivo propor uma abordagem híbrida para recomendação de conteúdo em TVDi, baseada em técnicas de Mineração de Dados, integradas a conceitos da Web Semântica, permitindo a estruturação e padronização dos dados e consequente possibilidade do compartilhamento de informações, provendo semântica e raciocínio automático. Para o serviço proposto é considerado o Sistema Brasileiro de TV Digital e o middleware Ginga. Foi desenvolvido um protótipo e realizado experimentos com a base de dados do NetFlix, utilizando a métrica de precisão para avaliação. Obteve-se uma precisão média de 30%, utilizando apenas a técnica de mineração. Acoplando-se com as regras semânticas obteve-se precisão média de 35%.

This study investigated the existence of association between the angulation of the styloid process on the anterior and medial directions with the intensity of temporomandibular dysfunction (TMD) symptoms. Fifty patients (8 men and 42 women) aged 25 to 70 years, with relevant TMD symptoms were evaluated. Clinical examinations were performed to determine the severity of TMD symptoms (orofacial pain, headache, tinnitus and dizziness) based on the RDC/TMD criteria and the visual analogue scale (VAS), and digital radiographic images of the styloid process were obtained: lateral cephalometric skull radiograph (analysis of anterior angulation) and posteroanterior skull radiograph (reverse Towne's projection) (analysis of medial angulation). The anterior angulation average of the styloid process was 20.89° while the medial angulation average was 19.1° in the right side and 19.04° in the left side. There was no statistically significant difference among the patient groups (severe, moderate and mild symptoms) associating the TMD symptoms and the anterior or medial angulation of the styloid process (p>0.05). There was no correlation between the intensity of the TMD symptoms and the measurements of anterior and medial angulation of the styloid process using either lateral cephalometric or posteroanterior radiographs (reverse Towne's projection). Este estudo investigou a existência de associação entre a angulação do processo estiloide nas direções anterior e medial e a intensidade dos sintomas de disfunção temporomandibular. Cinquenta pacientes (8 homens e 42 mulheres) com idade entre 25 a 70 anos, com sintomas relevantes de DTM foram avaliados. Os exames clínicos foram realizados para determinar a severidade dos sintomas da DTM (dor orofacial, cefaleia, zumbido e tontura) com base nos critérios do RDC / DTM e na escala visual analógica (EVA), e imagens de radiografias digitais do processo estiloide foram obtidas: cefalométrica lateral com incidência reversa (análise de angulação anterior), e póstero-anterior do crânio (projeção reversa de Towne) (análise de angulação medial). A média de angulação anterior do processo estilóide foi 20,89°, enquanto a média da angulação medial foi 19,1° no lado direito e 19,04° no lado esquerdo. Não houve diferença estatisticamente significativa entre os grupos de pacientes (sintomas severos, moderados ou leves) em associação com os sintomas de DTM e as angulações anterior ou medial do processo estiloide (p>0,05). Não houve correlação entre a intensidade dos sintomas de DTM e as medidas das angulações anterior e medial do processo estiloide utilizando a radiografia cefalométrica lateral ou a póstero-anterior (projeção reversa de Towne).

The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of experimental toothpastes for removing denture biofilm by means of a randomized crossover trial. Thirty volunteers brushed their dentures using a brush and four pastes: (1) Corega refreshing mint (control), (2) 0.2% chloramine T, (3) 1.0% chloramine T, and (4) 0.01% fluorosurfactant. Each paste was used for 7 days, and participants were randomized to use them according to one of four sequences. Biofilm was disclosed (neutral red) after each period, photographed, and quantified by means of a software program. All experimental toothpastes were similar to the control in terms of posttreatment biofilm coverage.

Knowledge of the Eagle's syndrome shows that its symptoms can be very easily confused with other types of craniomandibular disorders, especially temporomandibular disorders (TMD). The aim of this study was to find a possible correlation between the presence of TMD and elongation of the styloid process as well relate to presence of calcification of the stilohyoid chain. Fifty patients with TMD, confirmed from the RDC/TMD, were examined clinically and radiographically. Radiographic documentation consisted of digital panoramic radiograph and digital lateral cephalometric radiograph. Radiocef software (Radiomemory) was used for the analysis of radiographs by means of specific cephalometric tracing and linear measurements of the styloid process. Each radiograph was traced and measured three times with intervals of 1 month to spread the error. Statistical analysis was performed by Pearson's test (p=0.001) using Biostat 4.0 statistical software. Result showed an incidence of 76% elongation of the styloid process in the sample. Atualmente, o desenvolvimento e utilização dos Protocolos clínicos e de regulação na área da saúde,como ferramenta para gestão, têm contribuído para a organização e padronização da prática clínica emdiversas áreas assistenciais, bem como conferido clareza quanto aos fluxos a serem percorridos pelospacientes, em busca do cuidado à saúde. Por meio de estudo de abordagem qualitativa e valendo-se daTécnica Delphi na busca da convergência de opiniões, objetivou-se obter um consenso entre os participantes da pesquisa para a adoção dos conceitos que pudessem subsidiar a criação e implantaçãode um Protocolo em Saúde Bucal a ser aplicado na Rede Pública de Saúde no município de RibeirãoPreto. A amostra inicial de caráter aleatório, a partir de sorteio entre as Unidades de Saúde do DistritoOeste de Ribeirão Preto foi composta por 13 dentistas e profissionais da equipe de saúde sendo que ametodologia foi desenvolvida em 3 etapas. A primeira iniciou-se com o grupo de dentistas das unidadessorteadas, que responderam a uma série de questões sendo os resultados dessa primeira fasecompilados e a síntese das tarefas reenviada aos membros para que respondessem novamente,reconsiderando as suas respostas. O produto final foi discutido em Oficina composta pelos dentistasentrevistados, representantes das equipes de saúde, da Secretaria de Saúde e dos usuários do serviçoa fim de que o instrumento pudesse ser construído contemplando o ponto de vista de todos os envolvidos no processo. Resultados: O trabalho identificou concordância final entre os participantes, pelo quese comprovou que a Técnica Delphi favoreceu a tomada de decisões dos profissionais e usuáriosacerca da consolidação de conceitos próprios da atenção básica em saúde bucal para o desenvolvimento dos cuidados nessa área, colaborando potencialmente para as decisões racionais e aprimoramento da qualidade da assistência. Mostrou-se uma ferramenta com potência para a busca de consensos na área de Saúde Pública.
