In Australia, however, there has been concern regarding PBS policy and implementation. In response, this article proposes a tiered PBS service model for disability and community settings, which is evidence-based and rights-driven.Relevant literature, policy guidelines, and clinical experience are used to inform a positive behaviour support service model for community implementation.The Positive Behaviour Support in Disability and Community Service (PBS-DCS) model articulates systems-wide practices that support effective PBS provision within a human rights approach. The model describes three tiers of behaviour support: Tier I (Foundational), Tier II (Targeted), and Tier III (Specialist), and considers who should deliver which intervention elements and when.The PBS-DCS model provides a framework to support quality PBS practice in community settings. There is currently a limited understanding of the characteristics of the workforce of behaviour support practitioners in Australia. A better understanding will help future considerations of training requirements, professional credentialling and associated professional regulation. A cross‐sectional online survey captured the demographic and work‐related characteristics of those who develop behaviour intervention plans for people with disability in Australia. The sample (n = 423) was primarily female (78 per cent), aged 26–45 years (57 per cent) and held a graduate (39 per cent) or postgraduate (53 per cent) degree. The largest single professional group was psychologists (28 per cent). The most common duration of experience was 1 year. Approximately half of the respondents were allied health practitioners either registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency or a member of the National Alliance of Self‐Regulating Health Professionals. The majority of practitioners had registered with the National Disability Insurance Scheme to provide behaviour support services (85 per cent). Both clients and services were concentrated in metropolitan regions, raising concerns regarding equity of access to behaviour support in remote communities, and among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders. Given the vulnerability of many people with disabilities in receipt of behaviour support, ongoing policy and procedure work is needed to ensure professional credentialling and regulation of the workforce. The Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer (ASTER) instrument onboard the National Aeronautics and Space Administration's Terra spacecraft has an along-track stereoscopic capability using its a near-infrared spectral band to acquire the stereo data. ASTER has two telescopes, one for nadir-viewing and another for backward-viewing, with a base-to-height ratio of 0.6. The spatial resolution is 15 m in the horizontal plane. Parameters such as the line-of-sight vectors and the pointing axis were adjusted during the initial operation period to generate Level-1 data products with a high-quality stereo system performance. The evaluation of the digital elevation model (DEM) data was carried out both by Japanese and U.S. science teams separately using different DEM generation software and reference databases. The vertical accuracy of the DEM data generated from the Level-1A data is 20 m with 95% confidence without ground control point (GCP) correction for individual scenes. Geolocation accuracy that is important for the DEM datasets is better than 50 m. This appears to be limited by the spacecraft position accuracy. In addition, a slight increase in accuracy is observed by using GCPs to generate the stereo data. Inappropriate sexual behaviours (ISX) are challenging clinical sequelae of acquired brain injury (ABI). Limited evidence exists about treatment approaches, with few case studies published to date. This study reports an exploratory clinical trial of community-based behaviour support interventions as a treatment approach to ISX after ABI. From routine referrals to a state-wide service specializing in challenging behaviours after ABI, a cohort (n = 24) displaying ISXs were selected. The interventions addressed multiple behavioural domains, and used a variety of approaches including environmental change, psychoeducation, and specific behavioural techniques. These approaches targetted change in the person with ABI, support personnel, or other environmental domains. Behaviour data were collected using the Overt Behaviour Scale (OBS) at baseline, closure and follow-up. Visual inspection and multilevel models were used to analyse the data. For the sample as a whole, there was a significant decline in ISXs from baseline to closure that was maintained at follow-up. Results at an individual level are also presented. Specificity of the intervention was demonstrated by comparison with concurrent challenging behaviours (aggression, perseveration, absconding) which showed no significant change over the same three time points. Imposed postfeedback delays promote discrimination training; the present experiments determined whether they also improve performance in programmed instruction. In two experiments, college students completed 45 sets of Holland and Skinner's (1961) programmed text on behavior analysis in a computerized format in a three-component multiple schedule. In Experiment 1, the conditions were (a) no delay between questions, (b) a 10-s delay after each question (noncontingent delay), and (c) a 10-s delay after each question answered incorrectly (contingent delay). Noncontingent delay produced better performance than no delay and contingent delay. To determine whether performance increased in the noncontingent delay condition because subjects studied the material during delay periods, Experiment 2 tested three conditions: (a) no delay between questions, (b) a 10-s delay after each question (noncontingent delay), and (c) a 10-s delay after each question with the screen blank during the delay period. Noncontingent delay produced better performance than no delay, but there was no difference in performance between no delay and noncontingent delay with blank screen. Hence, noncontingent delay improved performance because students used delay periods to study. Furthermore, subjects preferred noncontingent delay to the other conditions, and session time increased only slightly.

Synthetic aperture radars (SAR's) have characteristics well-suited for the measurement of geophysical parameters. However, the application of SAR imagery is constrained by geometric and radiometric effects caused by variable terrain. The terrain model is a key component for the rectification of SAR images collected over variable terrain, but the quality of a terrain model limits the extent to which terrain errors can be corrected. Source stereoimagery used to generate high-resolution terrain models are acquired from aircraft or spacecraft platforms. Differences in these source images result in variable horizontal, vertical, and slope resolutions. Also, differences in the methods used for terrain model generation result in unique artifacts. The variability of the resolutions and the presence of the artifacts cause inaccurate correction of the terrain-induced geometric distortions in SAR images. These inaccuracies limit the extent to which SAR imagery can be geometrically rectified. To quantify the effects of these inaccuracies on SAR terrain correction, various terrain models were used to rectify a Seasat SAR image acquired over the Drum Mountains in west-central Utah. The terrain corrections were performed using a 1 degree U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) terrain model, a 7.5-min USGS terrain model, and a terrain model derived from stereoimagery acquired from the Satellite Pour l'Observation de la Terre. Geometric verifications of the terrain-corrected SAR imagery showed that the resolution of the 1 degree terrain model is not adequate to resolve many features in the Seasat image. Geometric verifications of the SAR images, corrected with the two higher resolution terrain models, showed localized errors as large as 52 m for mountain peaks. However, comparison of SAR data corrected with each model shows that both produce results that differ by less than the resolution of either terrain model. A simulation was used to relate the location errors in the SAR imagery to differences in elevation in the terrain models. Periodic artifacts due to the terrain model generation methodology were observed in the terrain models and translated to ground range differences of 18 m, which are well below the resolution of the SAR imagery.

People with acquired brain injury (ABI) are overrepresented in prison populations across many countries. An effective service response to reduce this trend requires collaboration between the ABI and criminal justice (CJ) sectors. The Building Bridges project piloted a novel professional development model designed to increase cross-sectoral knowledge and collaboration between the ABI and CJ sectors. A total of 178 service providers from Victoria, Australia, participated in six professional development forums that included content about ABI, policing, disability and legal supports, and correctional/post-release services. Participants came from the disability, criminal justice, and health and community service sectors. Using a pre-test-post-test design with 6-month follow-up, data were obtained via a project-specific questionnaire evaluating knowledge and behaviour change among participants. Statistically significant gains in knowledge were shown at post-test and maintained at follow-up. Work-related behaviours addressing ABI/CJ issues had increased significantly within both sectors at follow-up compared to the 6 months prior to the forum. Carefully constructed professional forums improved cross-silo collaboration in the ABI/CJ sectors. This pilot project illustrates effective use of existing service resources, and highlights training as an important part of a raft of initiatives needed to address the overrepresentation of people with ABI in the CJ system. The objectives were to test the properties, via a psychometric study, of the Overt Behaviour Scale-Self-Report (OBS-SR), a version of the OBS-Adult Scale developed to provide a client perspective on challenging behaviours after acquired brain injury. Study sample 1 consisted of 37 patients with primary brain tumour (PBT) and a family-member informant. Sample 2 consisted of 34 clients with other acquired brain injury (mixed brain injury, MBI) and a service-provider informant. Participants completed the OBS-SR (at two time points), and the Awareness Questionnaire (AQ) and Mayo Portland Adaptability Inventory-III (MPAI-III) once; informants completed the OBS-Adult and AQ once only. PBT-informant dyads displayed "good" levels of agreement (ICC2,k = .74; OBS-SR global index). Although MBI-informant dyads displayed no agreement (ICC2,k = .22; OBS-SR global index), the sub-group (17/29) rated by clinicians as having moderate to good levels of awareness displayed "fair" agreement (ICC2,k = .58; OBS-SR global index). Convergent/divergent validity was demonstrated by significant correlations between OBS-SR subscales and MPAI-III subscales with behavioural content (coefficients in the range .36 -.61). Scores had good reliability across one week (ICC2,k = .69). The OBS-SR took approximately 15 minutes to complete. It was concluded that the OBS-SR demonstrated acceptable reliability and validity, providing a useful resource in understanding clients' perspectives about their behaviour. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
