Background and Objectives: Fibromyalgia syndrome (FM) is a chronic pain disorder that is ranked as one of the four most common rheumatological diseases in the world. This study aims to investigate the effects of an eight-week mat Pilates and electro-muscle stimulation (EMS) with combined mat Pilates exercises on pain, depression, anxiety, and strength in sedentary women. Methods: This study is a single-blind randomized controlled trial. A total of 30 sedentary female patients (Pilates (n = 15), EMS (n = 15)) diagnosed with FM were included in the study. The patients were subjected to Beck Depression (BDIs) and Anxiety Inventories (BAIs); a Fibromyalgia Impact Questionnaire (FIQ); five different Single-Leg Hop Tests (SLHTs); modified push-up (MPU), Handgrip Strength (HGS), Deep Squat (DSQ), V-Sit Flexor, bent-arm hang (BA), sit-up and Biering-Sørensen tests; and anthropometric tests before and after the 8-week exercise program. Results: The eight weeks of mat Pilates exercises combined with mat Pilates and EMS revealed significant results (p < 0.05) in anthropometric data (abdomen, lower abdomen, hips) (p < 0.05) except for the results of chest circumference measurements (p > 0.05). In addition, there were statistically significant positive results in BDIs, BAIs, FIQs, lower extremity (all SLHTs and DSQ), upper extremity (MPU, HGS, BA), and core (V-SIT, sit-up, Biering-Sørensen test) strength test findings (p < 0.05). Conclusions: Combining the mat Pilates exercises with EMS is an effective and reliable method to improve the pain, anxiety, depression, and strength of female patients diagnosed with FM. This study aimed to determine the differences in pain, quality of life and functional status of individuals with Knee Osteoarthritis (KOA) between grades. The study included 90 patients with different grades (Grades 1, 2, and 3) of KOA. The Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC), Lower Extremity Functional Scale (LEFS), Berg Balance Scale (BBS), Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score-Physical Function Shortform (KOOS-PS), Short Form Health (SF-12), Oxford Knee Score (OKS) and Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) scales were applied. Timed Up and Go test (TUG), Five Times Sit to Stand Test (5STS), Stair Climb Test (SCT), 6-minute Walking Test (6MWT) and proprioception measurements were performed for functional assessments. Foot Posture Index (FPI-6), Navicular Drop Test (NDT) and Foot Function Index (FFI) tests were used for foot posture evaluations. In the functional tests performed in the study, a significant decrease in test performance was observed in the 6MWT and SCT tests as the grade level increased (P<0.05). In TUG and 5STS tests, a significant decrease in performance was detected only in Grade 3 compared to other grades (P<0.05). Similarly, there were significant differences between the grades in all scales applied (P<0.05). In proprioception evaluations, similar medians were found between sides (P>0.05). In FFI averages, significant differences were found especially in pain (P=0.036) and insufficiency (P=0.008) parameters compared to grade 3. This study revealed noticeable differences in knee scores, pain, quality of life scales and functional tests at different stages of KOA. These differences were generally negative as grade levels increased. Introduction: In this retrospective study, it was aimed to evaluate the correlation between operative treatment results and clinical and radiological findings of tibial plateau fractures. Patients and Methods: Between 1996 and 2006, 33 knees were operated for tibia plateau fracture of 32 patients. 29 patients were male and 3 were female. Only 3 cases (9.99%) were open tibial plateau fractures. The mean age was 45 years. Fractures classified using the Schatzker classification were: 17 (52%) type 1, 12 (12%) type 2, 9 (27%) type 5 and 6 (9%) type 6. Patients following the period were at least 44 weeks and maximum 480 weeks (mean 60 weeks). Results: The results of 33 patients were determined by the clinical and radiological system of Rasmussen. According to clinical findings, 17 cases were excellent, 9 were good, 6 were medium and 1 was poor. According to the radiological findings, 9 cases were excellent, 16 were good, 6 were medium and 2 were bad. Introduction: The purpose of this study was to demonstrate that patients undergoing ACL reconstruction with quadrupled semitendinosus suspensory femoral and tibial fixation have comparable results in muscle strength and knee function to those undergoing ACL reconstruction with four-strand semitendinosus-gracilis suspensory femoral fixation and a bioabsorbable tibial interference screw fixation. Materials and Methods: Between 2017 and 2019, 64 patients who were operated on by the same surgeon were included. Patients underwent ACL reconstruction technique with quadrupled semitendinosus suspensory femoral and tibial button fixation in Group 1, and patients underwent ACL reconstruction with coupled four-strand semitendinosus-gracilis suspensory femoral fixation and a bioabsorbable tibial interference screw in Group 2. Evaluation of patients was performed with the Lysholm and Tegner activity scale preoperatively and at the 1st and 6th months postoperatively. At the 6-month visit, isokinetic testing of the operated and non-operated limbs was performed in both groups. Results: There was no significant difference in the age, weight, and BMI values of the patients in Groups 1 and 2 (p < 0.05). According to the strength values of the operated sides of the patients in Group 1 and Group 2, there was no significant difference in the angular velocities of 60° s−1, 180° s−1, and 240° s−1 in both extension and flexion phases between the operated sides of Groups 1 and 2 (p < 0.05). Background and Objectives: Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries are common injuries with a high incidence among people with high physical activity levels. Therefore, ACL reconstruction (ACLR) is one of the most common surgical procedures performed in sports medicine. This study aims to compare the pre- and 6-month post-operative isokinetic knee strengths in healthy (HK) and ACL knees of patients who underwent semitendinous/gracilis (ST/G) ACLR. Materials and Methods: A retrospective cohort of 21 recreational athletes who underwent ST/G ACLR by the same surgeon were evaluated. The pre- and 6-month post-operative isokinetic knee extension (Ex) and flexion (Flx) strengths of the HK and ACLR patients were evaluated in a series consisting of three different angular velocities (60, 180 and 240°/s). Of all the findings, peak torque (PT) and hamstring/quadriceps (H/Q) parameters were evaluated. Results: There was a significant improvement in post-operative Lysholm, Tegner and IKDC scores compared to pre-operative scores (p < 0.05). There were significant differences in pre-operative and post-operative knee Ex and Flx strengths at angular velocities of 60°, 180° and 240°/s in both the ACLR and HK groups (p < 0.001). There was no significance at 240°/s Flx for ACLR (p > 0.05). As for H/Q ratios, there was a significant difference between pre- and post-operative values only at 60°/s angular velocity in both ACLR and HC (p < 0.005). Conclusions: The pre-operative and 6-month post-operative results of the ST/G ACLR showed that there was a high level of recovery, particularly in quadriceps strength, while the increase in strength was less in the hamstring. The significance observed at 60°/s in H/Q ratios was within normal ranges. It can be argued that the ST/G ACLR method is feasible for people with high physical activity levels and for athletes. Objective Obesity is one of the most challenging diseases in orthopedic surgery which directly affects the clinical results of the operations. Many studies in the literature demonstrated the effects of obesity on orthopedic surgery. Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) rupture is commonly seen in young and active individuals and generally treated surgically. In this study, we had the intention to investigate the effect of obesity on the clinical results of anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction. Material and Methods 180 patients were retrospectively evaluated whom operated between September 2012 - June 2016. The patients are divided into 2 groups according to their body mass index (BMI). All patients were operated on in a single center and by a single senior surgeon. BMI<25 kg/m2 patients formed Group 1 (n=113), BMI>30 kg/m2 patients formed the Group 2 (n=67). Age, gender, BMI of the patients, waiting time for the operation, preoperative and postoperative Lysholm and modified Cincinnati scores were compared between these two groups.A p-value less than 0.05 (typically ≤ 0.05) is statistically significant. Results There was no significant difference between the groups in terms of complication, follow-up periods, waiting time before operation, and pre-op and postop Lysholm scores, and post-op modified Cincinnati scores. A significant difference has been found between the groups in pre-op modified Cincinnati scores. Conclusion ACL reconstruction surgery has similar results in the obese population compared to the normal weight population in terms of functional further studies and other parameters are needed to verify these results. Background: The study aimed to biomechanically evaluate the effect of arthroscopic suture passing instruments used in the treatment of meniscal root tears on the meniscal suture interface in the root region., Methods: A total of 40 intact lateral menisci, obtained during total knee arthroplasty, were procured for the purpose of conducting a biomechanical study. The menisci were randomly assigned to one of two distinct test groups: Group 1 using the Accu-Pass Suture Shuttle (cannulated) and Group 2 using the First-pass Mini Suture Passer (non-cannulated), with each group consisting of n = 20 samples. Maximum failure load, stiffness, and displacement values were obtained using a uniaxial universal tensile testing machine., Results: When the groups were compared in terms of average maximum failure load (Group 1: 152.5N ± 50.7, Group 2: 162.5N ± 54.4), no statistically significant difference was observed (P = 0.549). At the moment of maximum failure load, the displacement values of both groups were similar (P = 0.502). In the comparison conducted for both groups in terms of preconditioning and postconditioning stiffness, no significant difference was detected between groups (P-values were 0.252 and 0.210, respectively)., Conclusion: In our study, the tissue laceration size created by suture passers at the meniscus-suture interface within the root region was indirectly tested based on the influence of tensile forces. Both suture passers (cannulated and non-cannulated) are similar in terms of maximum failure load, stiffness, and displacement amounts.
