Today, school bullying is considered an important social problem that causes developmental injuries and health issues in bullies and victims. The present study investigated the mediating role of brain-behavioural systems in relationships between school climate and emotional self-regulation with school bullying in high school students. This study had a cross-sectional correlational design. The sample size was 257, and the participants were selected using cluster sampling. They completed the Olweus Bully/Victim Questionnaire, Organizational Climate Index, Emotion Regulation Questionnaire, and Behavioural/Brain Systems Questionnaire. The data were analysed using the Pearson correlation coefficient and structural equation modelling (SEM). The findings revealed that the school bullying model based on the school climate and emotional self-regulation with the mediating role of brain-behavioural systems had a good fit. They also demonstrated that school climate had a direct negative effect on school bullying, whereas emotional self-regulation had a direct positive effect on it (p < 0.01). The school climate and emotional self-regulation were found to have a positive indirect effect on school bullying through the mediating role of brain-behavioural systems (p < 0.01). Therefore, it is necessary to develop plans to improve school climate, emotional self-regulation, and brain-behavioural systems to reduce school bullying.

Abstract Background: The lack of improvement in some endometriotic people's pain after surgery even while using hormone treatment may suggest an inappropriate response to routine hormonal therapies. Objective: This study aimed to determine a cut-off point for selecting the most appropriate treatment based on the hormone receptors of endometriotic lesions. Materials and Methods: In this cross-sectional study, by reviewing the medical records of participants and testing their archive samples and phone interviews (if needed), 86 symptomatic women after endometriosis surgery who were operated into governmental hospitals, Shahid Faghihi and Hazrate Zeinab Shiraz Iran were enrolled between March 2017 and March 2019. Women were divided into 2 groups: responsiveness (n = 73 for dysmenorrhea, n = 60 for dyspareunia) to medical treatment and surgery, and unresponsiveness (n = 13, n = 7). We examined the pathological slides of 86 women to determine the amount of hormone receptors and the relationship between the type of medical treatment and the level of hormone receptors on pain relief within 1 yr after surgery. Results: Based on the receiver operating characteristic curve, dysmenorrhea in the presence of tissue estrogen receptors > 60% (p = 0.1065), and dyspareunia in the presence of tissue progesterone receptors > 80% (p = 0.0001) responded well to medical treatment after surgery. In the presence of endometrioma-dysmenorrhea showed the best response to oral contraceptive pills (69.4%), while in deep infiltrative endometriosis-dyspareunia showed the best response to progesterone treatment (75%). Conclusion: Prescribing an appropriate hormone therapy based on a specific immunohistochemistry staining pattern can improve the life quality of postoperative endometriosis individuals.

Abstract High tumor’s lactate level directly associates with high tumor growth, metastasis, and patients’ poor prognosis. Therefore, many studies have focused on the decrease of tumor’s lactate as a novel cancer treatment. In the present study for the first time, a strictly anaerobic lactate-fermenting bacterium, Veillonella parvula, was employed for the decrease of tumor’s lactate level. At first, 4T1 breast tumor-bearing BALB/c mice were administered with 106 V. parvula bacteria intravenously, orally, intraperitoneally, and intratumorally. Then, the bacteria biodistribution was evaluated. The best administration route according to tumor colonization was selected and its safety was assessed. Then, the therapeutic effect of V. parvula administration through the best route was investigated according to 4T1 murine breast tumor’s growth and metastasis in vivo. In addition, histopathological and immunohistochemistry evaluations were done to estimate microscopic changes at the inner of the tumor and tumor’s lactate level was measured after V. parvula administration. V. parvula exhibited considerable tumor-targeting and colonization efficacy, 24 h after intravenous administration. Normal organs were free of the bacteria after 72 h and no side effect was observed. Abstract Background The role of bacterial contamination in the development and progression of endometriosis lesions is currently a hot topic for gynecologists. In this study, we decided to compare the endometrial cultures of women affected by endometriosis with those of non-endometriotic women, focusing on specific microbial pathogens. Material and method In this cross-sectional case-control study, 30 women with endometriosis in stages 4 of the disease whose endometriosis was confirmed based on clinical, ultrasound, and histopathological findings, and 30 women without endometriosis who were candidates for surgery due to benign uterine diseases with regular menstrual cycle, underwent endometrial biopsy with Novak Kort in sterile conditions before starting their operation, and the results of their endometrial culture were analyzed and compared. Results Results of the study indicate that there were no significant differences in terms of age, BMI, smoking, education level, place of residency, use of the intrauterine device, or vaginal douche, and age of menarche between the case and control groups. The only demographic difference observed was in parity, where the control group had a significantly higher parity than the case group (P = 0.001). Out of the 60 cultures, only 15 samples were positive in the endometriosis group, and E. coli was the most prevalent species, with 10 (33.3%) samples testing positive for it. Klebsiella spp. and Enterobacteria spp. were also detected in 3 (10.0%) and 2 (6.7%) samples, respectively. The comparison between the two groups showed that only E. coli had a significant association with the presence of endometriosis (P = 0.001). There was no significant relationship between the location of endometriosis in the pelvic cavity and culture results. Abstract Albedo is one of the key parameters in climatic studies. Investigating its temporal and spatial behavior can be a tool for understanding environmental changes. The MODIS sensor continuously produces the land surface albedo on a global scale and with the appropriate spatial resolution and makes it available to researchers. In this study, to analyze Iran's surface albedo trend, first, the daily albedo data of the MODIS on Iran in the period from January 1, 2001 to December 30, 2021 with a spatial resolution of 500 m were prepared from the NASA website. After the necessary pre‐processing, the long‐term seasonal and annual trend of Iran's albedo was calculated at the 90% confidence level using the non‐parametric Mann–Kendall test. The findings showed that the albedo trend is positive in the lowland interior areas of Iran and negative in the highland areas. Since the decreasing trend of albedo in highland areas indicates the reduction of snow cover in these areas, this issue can challenge the life and water resources of these areas that rely on the accumulation of snow.

Abstract Prostate cancer is one of the two most common non‐cutaneous cancers in men. Its presentation might be with unusual symptoms and cause the wrong initial diagnosis. This case report discusses a rare neurologic manifestation of advanced metastatic cancer in a low‐risk man. He had been receiving treatment for multiple sclerosis incorrectly due to unusual manifestations such as claudication and pelvic, leg, and shoulder pain. The patient underwent a whole‐body bone scan and then a transrectal ultrasound‐guided biopsy, which confirmed metastatic prostate cancer with a Gleason score between 7/10 and 10/10 in all samples. Following treatment with chemotherapeutic injections (docetaxel), luteinizing hormone‐releasing hormone (LHRH) analogous (Zoladex), and testosterone‐suppressing tablets (abiraterone), the disease has been under control and prostate‐specific antigen (PSA) level has decreased significantly. The most common sites of metastasis are regional lymph nodes, bones, and lungs. However, there are reports about the spread of this type of cancer to other parts of the body. Although most patients are diagnosed when the tumor is localized to the prostate, in about 25% of patients, the disease is diagnosed when metastasis has occurred. Some markers can assist physicians in the diagnosis of this disease, such as the Prostate Health Index and the 4 K score. Key Clinical Message The diagnosis of prostate cancer should be considered in all age ranges of adult men. The long‐distance metastasis might cause unusual presentations of the disease, such as neurologic, musculoskeletal, and dermatologic symptoms and signs far from the origin of the cancer, before genitourinary manifestations. It is crucial to keep the diagnosis of prostate cancer in mind for men with suggestive signs and symptoms that are not usually detected in this disease.

Abstract Introduction Investigation of endometrioma size and its laterality on the quality of the embryo in patients with endometrioma compared to healthy subjects. Materials and methods In this retrospective and cross-sectional study, 70 patients with unilateral and bilateral endometrioma were recruited and compared with 70 age-matched infertile patients as the control group in terms of AMH before ovum pick-up, embryo quality as well as pregnancy outcome. Additionally, in the case group, we divided both unilateral (n = 32) and bilateral endometrioma patients (n = 38) into three groups based on the size of endometrioma. (1–3 cm, 3–6 cm, 6–10 cm) Results There was no difference in terms of age, BMI, parity, and age of menarche between the case and control groups. Moreover, no significant difference was observed in the baseline level of AMH between the case 2.96 ± 2.72 ng/dl (0.21–11.3) and control 2.73 ± 2.39 (0.21–12.8) groups. (P = 0.59) There was also no significant difference concerning AMH level between unilateral 3.58 ± 3.20 ng/dl (0.21–12.8) and bilateral endometrioma 2.45 ± 2.14 (0.21 − 0.20) groups. In terms of the quality and number of embryos, there was no significant difference between the case and control groups. (P = 0.30) Although the AMH level decreased with the increase in endometrioma size, this difference was not statistically significant. (P = 0.07) There was no significant difference in terms of the embryo quality between the groups based on the size of endometrioma. (P = 0.77) In addition, no significant difference was observed between the case and control groups in the terms of birth weight and pregnancy complications, such as premature delivery, cesarean section rate, neonatal respiratory distress, jaundice, as well as hospitalization rate. Head circumference of the newborns was higher in the endometrioma group while their Apgar score was lower in the case compared to the control group. Conclusion The presence of endometrioma by itself does not affect the main result of IVF procedures, including the number and quality of embryos and pregnancy outcome. Thus, IVF and embryo preservation and even pregnancy before surgery seem to be reasonable for endometriotic patients.

Cu-BTC framework has received a considerable attention in recent years as a drug carrier candidate for cancer treatment due to its unique structural properties and promising biocompatibility. However, its intrinsic deficiency for medical imaging potentially limits its bioapplications; To address this subject, a magnetic nano/microscale MOF has been successfully fabricated by introducing Fe3O4 nanoparticles as an imaging agent into the porous isoreticular MOF [Cu3(BTC)2] as a drug carrier. The synthesized magnetic MOFs exhibits a high loading capacity (40.5%) toward the model anticancer DOX with an excellent pH-responsive drug release. The proposed nanocomposite not only possesses large surface area, high magnetic response, large mesopore volume, high transverse relaxivity (r2) and good stability but also exhibits superior biocompatibility, specific tumor cellular uptake, and significant cancer cell viability inhibitory effect without any targeting agent. It is expected that the synthesized magnetic nano/microcomposite may be used for clinical purposes and can also serve as a platform for photoactive antibacterial therapy ae well as pH/GSH/photo-triple-responsive nanocarrier.

Abstract Background Mebendazole (MBZ) is a well-known anti-parasite drug with significant anti-cancer properties. However, MBZ exhibits low solubility, limited absorption efficacy, extensive first-pass effect, and low bioavailability. Therefore, multiple oral administration of high dose MBZ is required daily for achieving the therapeutic serum level which can cause severe side effects and patients’ non-compliance. Method In the present study, MBZ-loaded/folic acid-targeted chitosan nanoparticles (CS-FA-MBZ) were synthesized, characterized, and used to form cylindrical subcutaneous implants for 4T1 triple-negative breast tumor (TNBC) treatment in BALB/c mice. The therapeutic efficacy of the CS-FA-MBZ implants was investigated after subcutaneous implantation in comparison with Control, MBZ (40 mg/kg, oral administration, twice a week for 2 weeks), and CS-FA implants, according to 4T1 tumors’ growth progression, metastasis, and tumor-bearing mice survival time. Also, their biocompatibility was evaluated by blood biochemical analyzes and histopathological investigation of vital organs. Results The CS-FA-MBZ implants were completely degraded 15 days after implantation and caused about 73.3%, 49.2%, 57.4% decrease in the mean tumors’ volume in comparison with the Control (1050.5 ± 120.7 mm3), MBZ (552.4 ± 76.1 mm3), and CS-FA (658.3 ± 88.1 mm3) groups, respectively. Abstract Uncontrollable proliferation is a hallmark of cancer cells. Cell proliferation and migration are significantly depressed during hibernation state. Many studies believe some factors in the plasma of hibernating animals cause these effects. This study aimed to assess the anti-cancer effects of hibernating common carp (Cyprinus carpio) plasma on 4T1 cancer cells in vitro and in vivo. The effect of hibernating plasma on cell viability, morphology, migration, apoptosis rate, and cell cycle distribution of 4T1 cells was investigated in vitro and in vivo. Hibernating plasma at a concentration of 16 mg/ml significantly reduced the viability of 4T1 cancer cells, without any toxicity on L929 normal fibroblast cells. It could change the morphology of cancer cells, induced apoptosis and cell cycle arrest at the G2/M phase, and inhibited migration. Furthermore, intratumoral injection of hibernating plasma (200 µl, 16 mg/ml) in the tumor-bearing mice caused a significant inhibition of 4T1 breast tumors volume (46.9%) and weight (58.8%) compared with controls. A significant decrease in the number of metastatic colonies at the lungs (80%) and liver (52.8%) of hibernating plasma-treated animals was detected which increased the survival time (21.9%) compared to the control groups. Immunohistochemical analysis revealed a considerable reduction in the Ki-67-positive cells in the tumor section of the hibernating plasma-treated animals compared with controls. Taken together, the SDS-PAGE and mass spectrometry analysis indicated the alpha-2-macroglobulin level in the hibernating fish plasma was significantly increased. It could exert an anti-cancer effect on breast cancer cells and suggested as a novel cancer treatment strategy.

Abstract In our previous study, immunoinformatic tools were used to design a novel multiepitope cancer vaccine based on the most immunodominant regions of BORIS cancer-testis antigen. The final vaccine construct was an immunogenic, non-allergenic, and stable protein consisted of multiple cytotoxic T lymphocytes epitopes, IFN-γ inducing epitopes, and B cell epitopes according to bioinformatic analyzes. Herein, the DNA sequence of the final vaccine construct was placed into the pcDNA3.1 vector as a DNA vaccine (pcDNA3.1-VAC). Also, the recombinant multiepitope peptide vaccine (MPV) was produced by a transfected BL21 E. coli strain using a recombinant pET-28a vector and then, purified and screened by Fast protein liquid chromatography technique (FPLC) and Western blot, respectively. Abstract Background Investigation of novel blood‐circulating agents as potential biomarkers for glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) patients’ diagnosis and monitoring has gained lots of attention, due to limitations of imaging modalities and invasive tissue biopsy procedures. The present study aims to assess the diagnostic and prognostic values of preoperative stem cell factor (SCF) plasma level in GBM patients. Methods Preoperative plasma samples from 58 GBM patients and 20 patients with nonglial tumors and 30 healthy controls were obtained.
