Inspired by equivariant homotopy theory, equivariant algebra studies generalisations of G-Mackey functors that do not have all transfer maps (also known as induction maps), for G a finite group. These incomplete Mackey functors have interesting and subtle properties that are more complicated than classical algebra. The levels of incompleteness that occur are indexed by simple combinatorial data known as transfers systems for G, which are refinements of the subgroup relation satisfying certain axioms. The aim of this paper is to generalise the Greenlees-May and Thevenaz-Webb splitting result of rational G-Mackey functors to the incomplete case. By calculating idempotents of the rational incomplete Burnside ring of G, we find maximal splitting of the category of rational incomplete G-Mackey functors. These splittings are determined by maps of the form (H to G) in the transfer system. We give an intrinsic definition of the split pieces beyond the idempotent description in order to understand what is the minimal information needed to determine an arbitrary rational incomplete G-Mackey functor. We end the paper with a series of examples of possible splittings and illustrate how simpler transfer systems have fewer terms in the splitting but the split pieces are more complicated., Comment: 39 pages

In this paper, we build on the work from our previous paper (arXiv:2002.01556) to show that periodic rational $G$-equivariant topological $K$-theory has a unique genuine-commutative ring structure for $G$ a finite abelian group. This means that every genuine-commutative ring spectrum whose homotopy groups are those of $KU_{\mathbb{Q},G}$ is weakly equivalent, as a genuine-commutative ring spectrum, to $KU_{\mathbb{Q},G}$. In contrast, the connective rational equivariant $K$-theory spectrum does not have this type of uniqueness of genuine-commutative ring structure., Comment: 19 pages

The project of Greenlees et al. on understanding rational G-spectra in terms of algebraic categories has had many successes, classifying rational G-spectra for finite groups, SO(2), O(2), SO(3), free and cofree G-spectra as well as rational toral G-spectra for arbitrary compact Lie groups. This paper provides an introduction to the subject in two parts. The first discusses rational G-Mackey functors, the action of the Burnside ring and change of group functors. It gives a complete proof of the well-known classification of rational Mackey functors for finite G. The second part discusses the methods and tools from equivariant stable homotopy theory needed to obtain algebraic models for rational G-spectra. It gives a summary of the key steps in the classification of rational G-spectrain terms of a symmetric monoidal algebraic category. Having these two parts in the same place allows one to clearly see the analogy between the algebraic and topological classifications., Comment: 41 pages, further examples added. In this paper, we calculate the image of the connective and periodic rational equivariant complex $K$-theory spectrum in the algebraic model for naive-commutative ring $G$-spectra given by Barnes, Greenlees and K\k{e}dziorek for finite abelian $G$. Our calculations show that these spectra are unique as naive-commutative ring spectra in the sense that they are determined up to weak equivalence by their homotopy groups. By theorems of Carlson and Renaudin, the theory of $(\infty,1)$-categories embeds in that of prederivators. The purpose of this paper is to give a two-fold answer to the inverse problem: understanding which prederivators model $(\infty,1)$-categories, either strictly or in a homotopical sense. First, we characterize which prederivators arise on the nose as prederivators associated to quasicategories. Next, we put a model structure on the category of prederivators and strict natural transformations, and prove a Quillen equivalence with the Joyal model structure for quasicategories., Comment: 24 pages

Equipping a non-equivariant topological $E_\infty$-operad with the trivial $G$-action gives an operad in $G$-spaces. For a $G$-spectrum, being an algebra over this operad does not provide any multiplicative norm maps on homotopy groups. Algebras over this operad are called na\"{i}ve-commutative ring $G$-spectra. In this paper we take $G=SO(2)$ and we show that commutative algebras in the algebraic model for rational $SO(2)$-spectra model rational na\"{i}ve-commutative ring $SO(2)$-spectra. In particular, this applies to show that the $SO(2)$-equivariant cohomology associated to an elliptic curve $C$ from previous work of the second author is represented by an $E_\infty$-ring spectrum. Moreover, the category of modules over that $E_\infty$-ring spectrum is equivalent to the derived category of sheaves over the elliptic curve $C$ with the Zariski torsion point topology., Comment: 25 pages

For G a compact Lie group, toral G-spectra are those rational G-spectra whose geometric isotropy consists of subgroups of a maximal torus of G. The homotopy category of rational toral G-spectra is a retract of the category of all rational G-spectra. In this paper we show that the abelian category defined by the second author in previous work gives an algebraic model for the toral part of rational G-spectra. A Quillen model structure is presented by an interacting pair of weak factorization systems. We prove that in the world of locally presentable categories, any weak factorization system with accessible functorial factorizations can be lifted along either a left or a right adjoint. It follows that accessible model structures on locally presentable categories - ones admitting accessible functorial factorizations, a class that includes all combinatorial model structures but others besides - can be lifted along either a left or a right adjoint if and only if an essential "acyclicity" condition holds. A similar result was claimed in a paper of Hess-Kedziorek-Riehl-Shipley, but the proof given there was incorrect. In this note, we explain this error and give a correction, and also provide a new statement and a different proof of the theorem which is more tractable for homotopy-theoretic applications., Comment: This paper corrects an error in the proof of Corollary 3.3.4 of "A necessary and sufficient condition for induced model structures" arXiv:1509.08154

Equipping a non-equivariant topological E_\infty operad with the trivial G-action gives an operad in G-spaces. The algebra structure encoded by this operad in G-spectra is characterised homotopically by having no non-trivial multiplicative norms. Algebras over this operad are called naive-commutative ring G-spectra. In this paper we let G be a finite group and we show that commutative algebras in the algebraic model for rational G-spectra model the rational naive-commutative ring G-spectra.

We apply the Acyclicity Theorem of Hess, Kerdziorek, Riehl, and Shipley (recently corrected by Garner, Kedziorek, and Riehl) to establishing the existence of model category structure on categories of coalgebras over comonads arising from simplicial adjunctions, under mild conditions on the adjunction and the associated comonad. We study three concrete examples of such adjunctions where the left adjoint is comonadic and show that in each case the component of the derived counit of the comparison adjunction at any fibrant object is an isomorphism, while the component of the derived unit at any 1-connected object is a weak equivalence. To prove this last result, we explain how to construct explicit fibrant replacements for 1-connected coalgebras in the image of the canonical comparison functor from the Postnikov decompositions of their underlying simplicial sets. Greenlees established an equivalence of categories between the homotopy category of rational SO(3)-spectra and the derived category DA(SO(3)) of a certain abelian category. In this paper we lift this equivalence of homotopy categories to the level of Quillen equivalences of model categories. Methods used in this paper provide the first step towards obtaining an algebraic model for the toral part of rational G-spectra, for any compact Lie group G.

We establish a formal framework for Rognes's homotopical Galois theory and adapt it to the context of motivic spaces and spectra. We discuss examples of Galois extensions between Eilenberg-MacLane motivic spectra and between the Hermitian and algebraic K-theory spectra.

We give a simple algebraic model for rational G-spectra over an exceptional subgroup, for any compact Lie group G. Moreover, all our Quillen equivalences are symmetric monoidal, so as a corollary we obtain a monoidal algebraic model for rational G-spectra when G is finite. We also present a study of the relationship between induction - restriction - coinduction adjunctions and left Bousfield localizations at idempotents of the rational Burnside ring., Comment: 18 pages

A common technique for producing a new model category structure is to lift the fibrations and weak equivalences of an existing model structure along a right adjoint. Formally dual but technically much harder is to lift the cofibrations and weak equivalences along a left adjoint. For either technique to define a valid model category, there is a well-known necessary "acyclicity" condition. We show that for a broad class of "accessible model structures" - a generalization introduced here of the well-known combinatorial model structures - this necessary condition is also sufficient in both the right-induced and left-induced contexts, and the resulting model category is again accessible. We develop new and old techniques for proving the acyclity condition and apply these observations to construct several new model structures, in particular on categories of differential graded bialgebras, of differential graded comodule algebras, and of comodules over corings in both the differential graded and the spectral setting. We observe moreover that (generalized) Reedy model category structures can also be understood as model categories of "bialgebras" in the sense considered here., Comment: 49 pages; final journal version to appear in the Journal of Topology

We prove existence results a la Jeff Smith for left-induced model category structures, of which the injective model structure on a diagram category is an important example. We further develop the notions of fibrant generation and Postnikov presentation from Hess, which are dual to a weak form of cofibrant generation and cellular presentation. As examples, for k a field and H a differential graded Hopf algebra over k, we produce a left-induced model structure on augmented H-comodule algebras and show that the category of bounded below chain complexes of finite-dimensional k-vector spaces has a Postnikov presentation. To conclude, we investigate the fibrant generation of (generalized) Reedy categories.
