Objectives: The renal transplant program of Istanbul Okan University Hospital started in August 2017. Five cadaveric and 95 living donor kidney transplants have been performed for over 16 months. In this study, we aimed to share our experiences regarding kidney transplantation. Methods: In this study, a retrospective analysis of 100 patients who underwent kidney transplantation at the Istanbul Okan University over 16 months, the Health Application and Research Center was carried out. Patients’ demographics, creatinine levels of donors and recipients, co-morbid conditions, postoperative complications, features of arterial anastomosis and arterial variations observed on computed tomography angiography of donor-patient were assessed. Results: Mean age of donor patients was 44.05±13.76 (18-71) years. All living donors had computed tomography angiography for assessment of the vascular structure of both kidneys. Accessory right kidney artery was the most dominant vascular variation (16.5%). The primary cause of chronic renal disease was diabetes mellitus (36.4%) and hypertension (15.6%). Mean warm and cold ischemia time was 1.82±0.44 (1-3) and 40.25±6.12 (31-57) minutes, respectively. The most observed postoperative complication was stenosis of ureter anastomosis (4.1%). End-to-end arterial anastomosis between renal and internal iliac arteries was the most preferred anastomosis (57.2%). Conclusion: Increasing kidney transplantation, which is the most appropriate treatment in terms of cost-effectiveness, will be beneficial for patient health and economy of the country.

Sacrococcygeal pilonidal sinus disease generally affects young people and impacts their quality of life. Few published studies assessing the characteristics of the disease in the adolescent population exist. Objective. In this paper, the authors aim to evaluate the effects of bathing habits on wound complications in adolescent patients following Karydakis flap surgery for sacrococcygeal pilonidal sinus.Materials and Methods. The medical records of 79 adolescent patients who underwent sacrococcygeal pilonidal sinus surgery between January 2014 and December 2017 at the Surgery Clinic of Malatya State Hospital (Malatya, Turkey) were evaluated retrospectively.Following exclusion, 67 patients were evaluated for demographics, body mass index (BMI), previous abscess formation, bathing frequency,number of sinus pits, and postoperative wound infection and dehiscence. The total follow-up time for the 67 patients was 90 days. Results.The BMIs of patients with previous abscess formation were significantly higher (P =.029). In the cases with abscess, the number of pilonidal sinus pits was significantly higher (P =.039) There was a statistically significant difference between postoperative complication rates according to the number of baths per week. Wound infection rates were found to be higher in patients who bathed more than twice weekly during the 28 days after surgery (P =.005). No statistical significance was observed in complication rates from days 28 to 90 after the surgery between those who bathed twice weekly and more than twice weekly (P >.05). Conclusions. Postoperative wound complications in adolescent patients treated with Karydakis flap surgery for sacrococcygeal pilonidal sinus are more frequent in those who bathe more than twice weekly during the first 28 days postoperatively.

There is a lack of knowledge regarding radiologic findings and added diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) features of RMS in the literature. Case Report: A 12-year-old girl was diagnosed with primary alveolar RMS of the breast. Gray scale ultrasound revealed posterior acoustic enhancement behind a well-circumscribed, multilobulated hypoechoic mass. Doppler ultrasound revealed increased peripheral and central vascularity. Hypointense septations on T2-weighted image exhibiting more enhancement than the stroma on late gadolinium-enhanced images were striking within a hyperintense mass. A hyperintense hemorrhagic focus on T1-weighted image was present in the absence of any necrosis. Avid enhancement on early postcontrast images proceeding from the periphery to the center was depicted. Conclusion: A rapidly enlarging mass with an echogenic peripheral rim together with posterior acoustic enhancement on gray scale ultrasound, intense vascularity on Doppler ultrasound, axillary lymphadenopathy, and satellite nodules on MRI should raise suspicion. Enhancing central and peripheral septations are suggestive of RMS. Dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI in suspected cases can provide valuable data in the differential diagnosis. (C) 2018 S. Bezoars are solid mass of indigestible material accumulating in the gastrointestinal tract. Patients are commonly asymptomatic but they may come to emergency deparments with acute intestinal obstruction symptoms such as nausea vomiting and abdominal pain. They are usuall in patients with abnormal gastrointestinal system anatomy due to surgery, impairment of gastric emptying or mental retardation. Rapid diagnostic tests should be ordered and then general surgery consultation should be done. Endoscopic therapy with fragmentation or enzymatic dissolution has been reported with varying degrees of success. Surgery is indicated when conservative therapy with chemical dissolution or endoscopic therapy is unsuccessful. Herein, we report a patient with gastric bezoar who was treated with surgery., Bezoarlar, sindirilemeyen maddelerin gastrointestinal sistemde oluşturduğu kitlelerdir. Genellikle asemptomatiktirler fakat bulantı-kusma, karın ağrısı gibi akut intestinal obstrüksiyon bulgularıyla acil servislere başvurabilirler. Özellikle zihinsel gerilik veya gastrointestinal sistem anatomisinde bozukluk gelişen hastalarda daha sık görülür. Hızlı tanı ve tetkikleri yapılıp genel cerrahi konsültasyonu istenmelidir. Enzimatik eritme veya endoskopik parçalama gibi konservatif işlemlerin yanı sıra, başarısız olunan olgularda gecikmeksizin cerrahi tedavi uygulanmalıdır. Burada midesinde bezoar saptanmış ve cerrahi tedavi uygulanan bir olgu sunulmaktadır.

İnvazif lobüler karsinom, invazif meme kanserlerinin % 12'sini oluşturmakta olup memenin ikinci sıklıkta görülen malignitesidir. Tümör diffüz infiltran karakterde olduğundan, klinik ve radyolojik olarak tanısı güçtür. Bu yazıda, kliniğimizde invazif lobüler karsinom tanısı alan bir olgu sunulmuş; polio hastalığı nedeniyle gelişmiş aksesuar pektoral kasa tümöral invazyon ve tümörün preoperatif radyolojik bulguları tartışılmıştır., Invasive lobular carcinoma constitutes 12% of the invasive breast cancers and is the second most common malignity of the breast. It is difficult to be diagnosed, clinically and radiologically, which is most likely related to the fact that ILC spreads through the breast parenchyma by means of diffuse infiltration. In this article we report a case of invasive lobular carcinoma, of discussing its invasion to the accessory pectoral muscle (which has developed due to polio disease) and its preoperative radiological findings

Amaç: Noduler guatr tanısı ile öpere ettiğimiz hastalardaki papiller mikrokarsinom insidansını ve tedavi seçimlerini değerlendirmeyi amaçladık. Gereç ve Yöntem: Kliniğimizde 2002-2004 tarihleri arasında klinik olarak noduler guatr tanısı ile araştırılıp, operasyon uygulanan 215 hastanın verileri retrospektif olarak değerlendirildi. Bulgular: 215 olguda toplam 15 tiroit papiller mikrokanseri saptanmış olup, insidans % 6.98'di. Tümörlü hastaların yaş ortalaması 46.5 olup, 13'ü (% 86.7) kadındı. Tümör çapı or¬talama 0.41 (0.J-I) cm'di. % 13.3 kapsüler invazyon ve ekstratiroidal yayılım, % 6.6 multisentrite, %6.6 servikal lenf bezi metastazı saptandı. 1 lobektomi, 6 total tiroidektomi, 1 totale yakın tiroidektomi uygulandı. 7 olguda ise total lobektomi+ subtotal lobektomi uygulandı. Bunlardan 3'ünde risk faktörü olduğu için tamamlayıcı tiroidektomi uygulandı. Ortalama 22,6 aylık takipte nüks ve mortalite saptanmadı. Sonuçlar: Tiroit papiller mikrokarsinomlarınm iyi seyirlerinden dolayı, insidental saptanan subtotal tiroidektomili olgularda risk faktörleri yok ise ek tedaviye gerek olmadan olguların takip edilebileceği kanısındayız. Subtotal tiroidektomili olgularda insidental saptanan ve tümör ile ilgili risk faktörü olan olgularda onkolojik ve güvenli takip açısından tiroidek-tominin totale tamamlanması gerektiği kanısındayız., Study design: The datas for 215 patients who has been examined with the diagnosis of nodular goiter and has been operated in our clinic in the period of 2002-2004 were rewiewed retrospectively Results: In the 215 patients a total of 15 papillary thyroid micro- carcinoma was detected and the incidence was %6.98. The mean age of the patients who has a tumor was 46.5 and 13 of them were women (%86.7). The mean diameter of the tumors was 0.41cm (0.1 -lcm). Extrathyroidal and capsular invasion was observed in the %13.3 of the patients. %6.6 of the tumors were multifocal and in %6.6 of them cervical lenf node metastase was found. The surgical procedures that were administered to these patients were I lobectomy, 6 total thyroidectomy,I near total thyroidectomy and in 7 cases total lobectomy plus subtotal lobectomy was made. In 3 of these patients completion thyroidectomy was necessary because of risk factors. In the mean fallow up of 22,6 months recurrence or mortality was not encountered. br> Conclusions: Since the papillary thyroid microcarcinomas have a good prognose in the incidental cases which were found in subtotal thyroidectomy patients we recommend fallow up without additional treatment.In the cases who has risk factors related to the tumor our opinion is to perform a total thyroidectomy in order to achieve a safe oncological fallow up.

Gastrointestinal stromal tümörler (GİST) normalde barsak duvarında bulunan intestinal pacemaker hücreleri olan Cajal ın interstisyel hücreleri veya onların prekürssörlerinin malign transformasyonundan kaynaklandığına inanılan mezenkimal tümörlerdir. GIST en çok mideden gelişirken, ince barsaklardan gelişenler nadir olup daha malign potansiyele sahiptir. En sık semptomlar belirsiz karın ağrısı, gastrointestinal kanama ve batında kitledir. Esas tedavisi tam cerrahi rezeksiyumdur. Cerrahi tedavi sonrası reküfrcns veya nüks olasılığı yüksektir. Bu nedenle hastaların cerrahiden sonra özelikle ilk 2 yıl 6 ayda bir, daha sonra yılda bir muayene ve BT ile takibi uygundur. Bizim olgumuz 83 yasında olup, akut karın bulguları ile başvurdu. BT de batın sol alt kadranda kitle saptandı. Laparatomide jejenumda 5 cm çaplı patolojide yüksek gracleli gastrointestinal stroma tümör olduğu belirlenen kitle saptandı. Rezeksiyon yapıldı. Hastanın 2. yıl takibinde nüks görülmedi., Gastrointestinal stromal tumors are mesenchymal tumors of the gastrointestinal tract that are believed to originate from neoplastic transformation of the intestinal pacemaker cells (interstitial cells of Cajal) normally found in the howell wall, or their precursors. The majority gastrointestinal stromal tumors. occurs in the stomach, stromal tumors involving the small intestine are far less common but seem to have greater malignant potential. The most common symptoms are vague abdominal pain, gastrointestinal bleeding, and abdominal mass. The mainstay of treatment continues to he complete surgical resection. GIST surgical patients subsequently have an increased risk of postoperative recurrence or metastasis. Therefore, we recommend Systematic follow-up after surgical resection of a malignant GIST including physical examination and CT scan at 6-month intervals for up to, 2 years after surgery with following annual CT scan and physical examination. ' Our case was 83 years old and applied to our hospital with symptoms of acute abdominal pain. CT scan demonstrated a mass lesion at left lower quadrant. Laparotomy revealed a 5 cm mass which was diagnosed as a high-grade gastrointestinal stromal tumor by pathological examination. Finally,resection was done and no recurrence or metastasis was detected in following postoperative 2 years.

Bezoars are defined as foreign bodies formed in the stomach and!or small bowel due to an accumulation of swallowed substances. The most common complication associated with gastrointestinal trichobezoar is intestinal obstruction and, less frequently, small bowel perforation. For this reason the diagnosis must be established as early as possible, in order to provide an effective treatment. The Rapunzel Syndrome is a rare form of gastric trichobezoar extending throughout the bowel, therefore we report it here., Bezoarlar yutulan maddelerin mide ve I veya ince har sakta birikmeleri ile oluşan yabancı cisimleri tanımlamada kullanılır. Gastrointestinal trikobezoarlarm en sık komplikasyonu intestinal obstrüksiyonlardır. Nadir olarak ince barsak perforasyonları da görülebilir. Bu nedenle hasta komplikasyonlar gelişmeden erken teşhis edilerek tedavi edilmelidir. Biz de mideden karsağa uzanım gösteren nadir gastrik trikobezoar formu olan Rapunzel scrıdromunu tartışmayı amaçladık.

Amaç: Akut apandisit, günlük uygulamada en sık karşılaşılan cerrahi hastalıkların başında gelir. Konvansiyonel laparoskopiye göre daha minimal invazif bir yöntem olan tek insizyonlu laparoskopik cerrahi, son zamanlarda yaygınlaşmaya başlamıştır. Bu çalışmada tek insizyonlu laparoskopik apandektomide edindiğimiz tecrübeyi paylaştık. Gereç ve Yöntem: Nisan 2010 – Nisan 2012 tarihleri arasında kliniğimizde, toplam 15 tek insizyonlu laparoskopik (TİL) apandektomi gerçekleştirdik. SILS (Single incision laparoscopic surgery) port (Covidien) direkt görüş altında göbekten batın içine yerleştirildi. Açı verilebilir endograsper, endodisektör ile apandiks ortaya konuldu. Apandektomi materyali SILS port ile birlikte göbekten çıkarıldı. Ameliyat süresi, ağrı skoru, hastanede kalış süresi ve komplikasyonlar kayıt altına alındı. Bulgular: Hastaların 11'sı (% 73) erkek, 4'ü (% 27) kadın idi. 1 hastada (% 6) 3 port laparoskopiye dönüldü. Ortalama yaş 35,25 (28-43)±7,36 yıl ortalama vücut kitle indeksi 30,75 (23-41)±8,34 kg/m2 idi. Anestezi skoru 1,25(1-2)±0,5 idi. Ortalama ameliyat süresi 59,33(40-90)±19,09. dakikaydı. Ameliyat sırasında ve sonrasında komplikasyonla karşılaşılmadı. Tüm hastalar ameliyat sonrası 24.saatte taburcu edildi. Ortalama ağrı skoru 2 (1-3) ±0,81 idi. Sonuç: TİL apandektomi, 3 port laparoskopik apandektomi kadar etkin bir yöntemdir. Laparoskopik cerrahi konusunda tecrübeli ellerde uygulandığında güvenli bir girişimdir. Erken dönem tecrübemizde, mükemmel kozmetik sonuçlar elde ettik, ancak yararlar, ağrı düzeyi ve iyileşme açısından daha geniş serilere ve prospektif çalışmalara ihtiyaç bulunmaktadır., Aim: Acute appendicitis is one of the most commonly encountered surgical problems in everyday practice. Single-incision laparoscopic operations have recently emerged as a less invasive alternative to conventional laparoscopy. The aim of this study was to describe our initial experience with single-incision laparoscopic appendectomy. Patients and methods: Between April 2010 – April 2012, we performed 15 single incision laparoscopic appendectomy in our clinic. SILS port (Covidien) was inserted under direct vision into the peritoneal cavity. Appendix was dissected with articulated endograsper and endodissector. Appendectomy was performed and appendix removed from umbilicus with SILS port. Outcome measures include operative morbidity, operative time, pain score, hospital stay. Results: Eleven of patients (73%) were men, four (27%) were women. Conversion to open surgery were required for one case. The mean age was 35,25 (28- 43)±7,36 years and mean body mass index was 30,75 (23-41)±8,34 kg/m2. Anestesia score was 1,25(1- 2)±0,5 and mean operating time was 59,33(40- 90)±19,09 minutes. No intraoperative or postoperative complications were encountered. Conclusion: Single incision laparoscopic appendectomy is an effective alternative to standard three -incision laparoscopic appendectomy in selected patients. This early experience suggests that outcomes are comparable to standard laparoscopic surgery but with improved cosmesis, however, a larger series is necessary to confirm these findings and to determine if there are any benefits in pain or recovery.

Cutaneous leiomyomas are benign smooth muscle neoplasms of the skin. They arise from vascular, arrector pili, genital, and areolar smooth muscles. The most common localizations of cutaneous leiomyomas are the extensor surfaces of the extremities and the trunk. To our knowledge, only few cases of one-sided nipple leiomyomas have been reported, but two-sided nipple leiomyomas have not been presented. For the first time, here, we report a bilateral nipple leiomyoma.

The aim of this study is to display the effects of anesthesia method used in patients who underwent endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP). The correlation between the duration of performance, success and complication rates, duration of hospital stay, vital findings, the dosage of iohexol; hyoscine-N-butyl bromide were compared with the anesthesia method. Higher success rates were obtained from patients administered general anesthesia or deep sedation than patients who received superficial sedation. General anesthesia was observed to shorten the procedure time and significantly decrease the amount of iohexol used. No significant difference were detected between general anesthesia and deep sedation groups with respect to the amount of hyoscine-N-butyl bromide intravenous injection. However, the amount used in the superficial sedation group was statistically higher than other two. In conclusion, general anesthesia shortens the duration of ERCP, increases success rate and prevents complications likely to develop by decreasing the dose of hyoscine-N-butyl bromide and iohexol., Çalışmamızın amacı endoskopik retrograd kolanjiopankreatografide kullanılan anestezi yönteminin işlemin sonuçlarına etkilerini ortaya koymaktır. Endoskopik retrograd kolanjiopankreatografi ve taş çıkarılması işlemi yapılan hastalar çalışmaya dahil edildi. İşlem süresi, başarı ve komplikasyon oranları, hastanede kalış süresi, vital bulgular ve işlem sırasında koledok görüntülemesi için ihtiyaç duyulan ioheksol ve barsak hareketlerini baskılamak için kullanılan hiyosin-N-butil bromür dozu ile hastanın tercih ettiği anestezi yöntemi arasındaki ilişki incelendi. Genel anestezi ve derin sedasyon ile işlem yapılan hastalarda, yüzeysel sedasyon uygulananlara kıyasla, daha yüksek başarı oranları elde edildi. Genel anestezinin işlem süresini anlamlı olarak kısalttığı ve kullanılan iohekol miktarını azalttığı görüldü. Hyoscine-N-butyl bromür kullanım miktarında genel anestezi ve derin sedasyon uygulanan gruplar arasında fark olmadığı, ancak yüzeysel sedasyon verilen hastalarda dozun diğer iki gruba kıyasla anlamlı derecede yüksek olduğu saptandı. Genel anestezi işleminin süresini kısaltmakta, başarı oranını artırmakta ve işlem sırasında kullanılan Hiyosin-N-butilbromür ve ioheksol dozunu azaltarak gelişebilecek komplikasyonların önüne geçmektedir.

Amaç: Çalışmamızın amacı oral yoldan beslenemeyen ancak gastrointestinal sistem fonksiyonları normal olan hastalarda perkütan endoskopik gastrostomi açılması işleminin mortalite ve morbiditesini ortaya koymak ve hastaların vücut kitle indeksi ile işlem süresi ve komplikasyon oranları arasındaki ilişkiyi belirlemektir. Yöntemler: Kliniğimizde midazolam ile sağlanan sedasyon sonrası lokal anestezi ile cilt uyuşturularak çekme metodu ile perkütan endoskopik gastrostomi açılan 24 hastanın işlem kayıtları ve şu anki sağlık durumları incelendi. Komplikasyon oranları belirlendi. Bulgular: Perkütan endoskopik gastrostomi açılan 24 hastada işleme bağlı mortalite gelişmedi. Hastaların vücut kitle indeksi ortalama 18.96±3.85 kg/m2 olarak hesaplandı. İşlem süresi ortalama 750±130 sn bulundu. Hastaların 15'inin malnutrisyon sınırı olarak belirlenen 18.5kg/m2 lik vücut kitle indeksi değerinin altında olduğu ancak bu gurup ile beslenme problemi olmayan 9 hasta arasında işlem süresi açısından anlamlı farklılık olmadığı saptandı. İşlem sonrası bir hastada giriş yerinde enfeksiyon gelişti ve antibiyotik tedavisi verildi. Hastaların ortalama 17,3±9,2 aylık takiplerinde 2 hastanın yutma refleksindeki düzelmeye bağlı olarak gastrostomi kateterleri çekildi. İki hastada yıpranma sebebi ile kateter değişimi yapıldı. Altı hasta primer hastalığına bağlı olarak kaybedildi. Sonuç: Perkütan endoskopik gastrostomi oral yoldan beslenemeyen hastalar için ideal beslenme yoludur. Bu teknik ile gastrostomi açılması klasik cerrahi yönteme göre hem daha hızlı hem de daha güvenilirdir., Objective: We aimed to evaluate the mortality and morbidity of percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy applications and to investigate the relationship between body mass index and duration of the procedure and complication rates. Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the clinical data and complication rates of 24 patients to whom Percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy was applied by the pull method under midazoloam superficial anesthesia. Results: No mortality occured due to the procedure. The BMİ of the patients were 18.96±3.85 kg/m2. The mean time of duration of the procedure was 750±130 sec. 15 of the patients BMİ was under and nine above the malnutrition level (18.5kg/m2) but the BMİ had no corelation between the duration of the procedure. In only one case wound infection occured and antibiotherapy was needed. During a follow up period of 17.3±9.2 months two patients patients catheter was changed because of malfunction and two patients were able to tolarate oral intake and their catheters were removed. Six patients died because of their primery disease during the follow up. Conclusions: PEG is easy to handle, effective and safe for patients who can not feed orally. From our experience, we confirm the advantages of PEG from classical surgical gastrostomy as a long-term nutritional support showing a low incidence of complications; and zero mortality.

Primary neuroendocrine carcinoma of the breast is an extremely rare tumor. Tumours can only be considered small cell neuroendocrine tumour of the breast if nonmammary sites are excluded. We present our experience of primary neuroendocrine carcinoma of the breast in a 76-year-old woman and 87-year-old woman. First patient has presented with just about 4 cm palpable mass in her left breast. Tru cut biopsy from left breast showed a invasive carcinoma. Wide surgical excision and sentinel lymph node biopsy were performed. The second patient admitted our clinic complaints of a mass in her left breast. Because of limitted cardiac failure, only lumpectomy was performed with local anestesia. Also in two patients, immunohistochemical staining showed primary neuroendocrine carcinoma of the breast. Computed tomography scans of the chest and abdomen showed no lesion for metastasis or another primary origin. Adjuvant hormone therapy was given, since the tumor was immunohistochemically receptor positive., Memenin primer nöroendokrin karsinomu, oldukça nadir görülen bir tümördür. Tümörün primer olarak meme kaynaklı olduğunu söylemek için meme dışı organlarda olmadığı kanıtlanmalıdır. Bu çalışmada, memenin primer nöroendokrin tümörü tanısı koy-duğumuz 76 ve 87 yaşındaki iki kadın hastamıza ait tecrübemizi sunduk. İlk hastamız sol memede yaklaşık 4 cmlik kitle şikayeti ile başvurdu. Yapılan tru cut biyopsi sonucu invazif karsinom olarak sonuçlandı. Hastaya sentinel lenf nodu biyopsisi ve geniş cerrahi eksizyon uygulandı. İkinci hastamız sol memede kitle ile klniğimize başvurdu. İleri kardiyak yetersizliği olan hastaya lokal anestezi altında yalnızca lumpektomi uygulandı. Her iki hastada immunhistokimyasal boyamalar sonucunda memenin primer nöroendok-rin karsinomu saptandı. Toraks ve batına yönelik bilgisayarlı tomografi incelemelerinde metastaz saptanmadı. Reseptörleri pozitif olan hastalara sonraki dönemde hormonoterapi verildi.

Bu çalışmada tanısal amaçlı üst gastrointestinal sistem endoskopisi yapılan hastalarda işlem öncesi sedasyon amaçlı sistemik midazolam uygulanmasının etkileri incelendi. Çalışmaya Maltepe Üniversitesi Genel Cerrahi Anabilim Dalı Endoskopi Ünitesinde 2007 Ocak- 2009 Nisan tarihleri arasında tanısal amaçlı üst gastrointestinal sistem endoskopisi yapılan 600 hasta alındı. İşlem öncesi hastalara 0,1mg/kg iv midazolam verildi.Tüm hastalarda pilor geçildi ve duodenum 1 kıta görüldü. Hastaların bazal, sedasyon sonrası ve işlem sonrası nabız ve oksijen saturasyonu, işlem süresi,anksiyete skoru ve hastanın işlem sırasındaki sedasyonu durumu endoskopist tarafından değerlendirildi. Altı yüz hastadan 562'si tıbbi gereklilik olması halinde tekrar üst gastrointestinal sistem endoskopisi yaptıracaklarını beyan ettiler.Üst gastrointestinal sistem endoskopisinde midazolam kullanılmasının, gerek işlemin endoskopist tarafından rahatça gerçekleştirilmesi, gerekse hastanın konforunun sağlanması ve daha sonraki endoskopik işlemler öncesi gelişecek anksiyetenin önüne geçilmesi için gerekli ve güvenli bir yöntem olduğu sonucuna varıldı., The aim of this study is to determine the role of midazolam used as a sedative agent in upper gastrointestinal system endoscopy. We evaluated the results of 600 patients. All of them were medicated by 0.1 mg/kg iv midazolam preoperatively. The duration of the procedure,basal and postgastroscopic pulse and 02 saturation, anxiety score and the sedation score of the patients were noted. Five hundred and fifty two of the patients were willing to undergo the same procedure if needed. Our study suggests that the use of midazolam in upper gastrointestinal system endoscopy makes the procedure easier and more comfortable both for the patient and the endoscopist.
