Abstract Hashimoto’s thyroiditis (HT) is an autoimmune disease, characterized by abnormal elevation in thyroid peroxidase antibody (TPO-Ab) and/or thyroglobulin antibody (TG-Ab). Patients have multiple symptoms despite adequate hormone substitution. In the present study, we aimed to quantify the relationship between thyroid antibodies and multiple symptoms, inflammation and health-related life quality. A total of 108 HT patients with clinical euthyroid status and 57 heathy controls were recruited. Clinical parameters were determined by laboratory examination, and the symptoms burden and life quality were obtained by a Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis Symptom Questionnaire and a SF-36 Questionnaire, respectively. Compared with healthy controls, multiple extrathyroidal symptoms were significantly more serious in HT patients despite euthyroid status, mainly including that related to digestive system (abdominal distension, constipation and diarrhea), endocrine system (chilliness, gain weight and facial edema), neuropsychiatric system (forgetfulness, anxiety, depressed, fatigue, insomnia, irritability, and indifferent) and mucocutaneous system (dry skin, pruritus, and hair loss). Furthermore, serum TPO-Ab and TG-Ab were both inversely correlated with health-related life quality of general health and vitality parameters, and positively correlated with pro-inflammatory factors of TNF-α and IFN-γ, as well as severity of abdominal distension, diarrhea, chilliness, forgetfulness and fatigue. Moreover, TG-Ab level was positively associated with depressed, insomnia and indifferent. HT patients suffered from a variety of symptoms, and the elevated thyroid antibodies were inversely associated with health-related life quality and positively associated with inflammation and multiple extrathyroidal symptoms.

Abstract This study investigates the low‐frequency oscillations (LFOs) in MMC‐MVDC systems with high photovoltaic (PV) penetration, considering the whole operating conditions of the grid‐connected MMC, including both the inverter and rectifier modes. First, the multi‐port impedance models of converters and networks are developed, upon which a stability criterion is defined. The mechanism of LFOs is then identified using bus participation analysis and parameter sensitivity analysis. In addition, the stable zones of the dominant parameters are identified, taking into account the whole operating conditions of the grid‐connected MMC. Interestingly, a phase‐locked loop may induce LFOs in two low‐frequency ranges. Finally, the experimental results confirm the correctness of the theoretical analysis.

Pseudolipoma of Glisson's capsule is a rare, benign subcapsular liver lesion that typically occurs in older adult men. It comprises degenerated fat tissue that likely originates from detached mesothelial appendages or degenerated liver lipomas. We report the case of a 58-year-old female patient with a gastric malignant tumor after admission. No lesions were found in the liver capsule before surgery. During postoperative reviews from 2015 to 2018, new dense, fatty lesions were found under the liver capsule, and highly unusually, the lesions moved under the liver capsule over time. To the best of our knowledge, only 1 other case has been reported of a pseudolipoma of Glisson's capsule that migrated over time. This supports the hypothesis that migrating mesothelial attachments form Glisson capsule pseudolipomas. This case report aims to review liver capsule anatomy, explain why the liver is particularly susceptible to this phenomenon, and present information to aid the diagnosis of fat-containing hepatic lesions by providing a unique perspective on certain pathologies affecting the liver.

Spinal schwannomas arising from the Schwann cells of the myelin sheath represent the most common intradural extramedullary tumors. However, occurrences of multiple pearly nerve sheath tumors is rare, and such cases affecting the cauda equina are often localized within the spinal canal of the lumbosacral vertebra on 1 nerve fiber. Herein, we present a case of multiple schwannomas involving distinct nerve fibers of the cauda equina. A 37-year-old female with a history of schwannoma presented with multiple space-occupying lesions in the lumbosacral canal in 2022. Due to a subsequent pregnancy (9 months), further examination and treatment were deferred. Lumbar magnetic resonance imaging performed in February 2024 revealed persistent findings of multiple, bead-like nodular masses within the L1–S1 segments, comparable in size and number to those observed in 2022. Contrast-enhanced MRI demonstrated homogenous enhancement throughout the lesions without evidence of bleeding or cystic components. Given these findings, a diagnosis of schwannoma was suspected. In March 2024, the patient was admitted to hospital for further surgical treatment, the pathological examination result of the resected specimen was consistent with the diagnosis of schwannoma. This case highlights the importance of preoperative magnetic resonance imaging for visualizing tumors, defining their relationship with the nerve roots, and guiding surgical planning. Accurate diagnosis by radiologists plays a vital role in optimal patient management in these cases.

Abstract Evidence shows that inflammatory responses play an essential role in the development of brain metastases (BM). The goal of this meta-analysis was to critically evaluate the literature regarding the use of the neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR) to predict the prognosis of patients with BM to help clinicians institute early interventions and improve outcomes. We conducted systematic review and meta-analysis, utilizing data from prominent databases, including PubMed, Cochrane Library and China National Knowledge Infrastructure databases. Our inclusion criteria encompassed studies investigating the studies that assessed the association between NLR and overall survival (OS). We included 11 articles, with 2629 eligible patients, to evaluate the association between NLR and OS. High NLR was significantly associated with shorter OS, with a pooled hazard ratio (HR) of 1.82 (95% CI 1.57–2.11). Subgroup analysis revealed that this association was consistent across different regions, with HRs of 2.03 (95% CI 1.67–2.46) in Asian populations and 1.58 (95% CI 1.35–1.84) in non-Asian populations. Abstract Arithmetic ability is critical for daily life, academic achievement, career development, and future economic success. Individual differences in arithmetic skills among children and adolescents are related to variations in brain structures. Most existing studies have used hypothesis-driven region of interest analysis. To identify distributed brain regions related to arithmetic ability, we used data-driven cross-validated predictive models to analyze cross-sectional behavioral and structural MRI data in children and adolescents. The gray matter volume (GMV) of widespread brain regions reliably predicted arithmetic abilities measured by the Comprehensive Mathematical Abilities Test. Furthermore, we applied neuroimaging-transcriptome association analysis to explore transcriptional signatures associated with structural patterns of arithmetic ability. Structural patterns of arithmetic ability primarily correlated with transcriptional profiles enriched for genes involved in transmembrane transport and synaptic signaling. Our findings enhance our understanding of the neural and genetic mechanisms underlying children’s arithmetic ability and offer a practical predictor for arithmetic skills during development.

Abstract Background The indication and extent of selective lateral neck dissection (LND) for cN1a papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) remain uncertain. The present study aimed to identify potential predictors and distribution pattern of lateral lymph node recurrence (LLNR) after central neck dissection in cN1a PTC patients. Methods The cN1a PTC patients who underwent initial central neck dissection at our centre were retrospectively reviewed, and the median follow-up period was 6.8 years. Reoperation with LND was performed when LLNR was confirmed. Risk factors for LLNR were identified, and the metastatic status of each lateral level was recorded. Results Of the 310 patients enrolled in the present study, fifty-eight patients (18.7%) presented with LLNR. Abstract Materials demonstrating positive thermal expansion (PTE) or negative thermal expansion (NTE) are quite common, whereas those exhibiting zero thermal expansion (ZTE) are notably scarce. In this work, we identify the mechanical descriptors, namely in-plane tensile stiffness and out-of-plane bending stiffness, that can effectively classify PTE and NTE 2D crystals. By utilizing high throughput calculations and the state-of-the-art symbolic regression method, these descriptors aid in the discovery of ZTE or 2D Invar monolayers with the linear thermal expansion coefficient (LTEC) within ±2 × 10−6 K−1 in the middle range of temperatures. Additionally, the descriptors assist the discovery of large PTE and NTE 2D monolayers with the LTEC larger than ±15 × 10−6 K−1, which are so-called 2D anti-Invar monolayers. Advancing our understanding of materials with exceptionally low or high thermal expansion is of substantial scientific and technological interest, particularly in the development of next-generation electronics at the nanometer or even Ångstrom scale.

This paper presents a minimal-communication control scheme for series-parallel microgrids to achieve power-sharing and frequency synchronization. The proposed method involves the first distributed generators (DGs) in each string exchanging information with its neighbors using low bandwidth communication to reach a consensus. The other DGs achieve convergence through droop or inverse droop control in a communication-free manner. The proposed control scheme offers several key advantages: 1) Only the first DGs in each string exchange information using low bandwidth communication, while other DGs operate in a decentralized manner. The proposed method is a minimal communication approach. 2) The frequency synchronization is obtained under RL and RC loads. 3) Precise power sharing is achieved by regulating the output voltage amplitudes. Meanwhile, the load voltage quality is guaranteed. Furthermore, the stability analysis based on the root locus method has been demonstrated. Finally, simulations have validated the feasibility of the proposed approach.

Abstract The change detection (CD) technology has greatly improved the ability to interpret land surface changes. Deep learning (DL) methods have been widely used in the field of CD due to its high detection accuracy and application range. DL-based CD methods usually cannot fuse the extracted feature information at full scale, leaving out effective information, and commonly use transfer learning methods, which rely on the original dataset and training weights. To address the above issues, we propose a deeply supervised (DS) change detection network (DASUNet) that fuses full-scale features, which adopts a Siamese architecture, fuses full-scale feature information, and realizes end-to-end training. In order to obtain higher feature information, the network uses atrous spatial pyramid pooling (ASPP) module in the coding stage. In addition, the DS module is used in the decoding stage to exploit feature information at each scale in the final prediction. The experimental comparison shows that the proposed network has the current state-of-the-art performance on the CDD and the WHU-CD, reaching 94.32% and 90.37% on F1, respectively.

Abstract For the problem that traditional droop control cannot maintain the maximum output power of photovoltaic (PV) units, this work proposes a self‐adaptive communication‐free control scheme for the islanded PV‐storage AC microgrids. The proposed control enables the maximum power point tracking‐based output active powers of PVs by adaptively adjusting P‐f/Q‐V droop coefficients. It also facilitates adaptive allocations of reactive powers based on the available capacities of PVs and storage modules. The key characteristics of the proposed control strategy are summarized as follows: 1) PV units are controlled as voltage sources, which could participate in the voltage/frequency regulation to a certain extent; 2) maximum power utilization of PVs is obtained; 3) adaptive allocations of reactive powers are realized based on the maximum available capacity of PVs and storage modules. Subsequently, the stability analysis of the proposed self‐adaptive communication‐free control strategy is verified. Finally, the validity of the proposed self‐adaptive communication‐free control method is validated through simulations conducted using MATLAB/Simulink.

Abstract Background Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a chronic fibrotic interstitial lung disease characterized by progressive dyspnea and decreased lung function, yet its exact etiology remains unclear. It is of great significance to discover new drug targets for IPF. Methods We obtained the cis-expression quantitative trait locus (cis-eQTL) of druggable genes from eQTLGen Consortium as exposure and the genome wide association study (GWAS) of IPF from the International IPF Genetics Consortium as outcomes to simulate the effects of drugs on IPF by employing mendelian randomization analysis. Then colocalization analysis was performed to calculate the probability of both cis-eQTL of druggable genes and IPF sharing a causal variant. For further validation, we conducted protein quantitative trait locus (pQTL) analysis to reaffirm our findings. Abstract Background Femoral neck fractures (FNFs) in young adults are usually caused by high-energy trauma, and their treatment remains a challenging issue for orthopedic surgeons. The quality of reduction is considered an important factor in improving the poor prognosis of patients with FNFs. In recent years, positive buttress closed reduction technique has received widespread attention in the treatment of FNFs. This comprehensive literature review is designed to encapsulate the impacts of both non-anatomic and anatomic reduction on the biomechanical stability, clinical outcomes, and postoperative complications in the management of FNFs, conjecture the efficacy of positively braced reduction techniques and provide a thorough summarization of the clinical outcomes. Methods In this literature review, we have examined all clinical and biomechanical studies related to the treatment of FNFs using non-anatomical reduction or positive and negative buttress reduction. PubMed, Web of Science, Google Scholar and Embase Library databases were searched systematically for studies published before September 1, 2023. Published literature on fracture reduction techniques for treating FNFs was reviewed. In addition, we evaluated the included literature using the MINORs tool. Results Although the “arch bridge” structure formed by the positive buttress reduction technique improved the support to the cortical bone and provided a more stable biomechanical structure, no significant differences were noted in the clinical efficacy and incidence of postoperative complications between the positive buttress reduction and anatomical reduction. Conclusion Positive buttress reduction is an effective treatment method for young patients with FNFs. When facing difficult-to-reduce FNF, positive buttress reduction should be considered first, followed by anatomical reduction. However, negative buttress reduction should be avoided.

Abstract In the context of global energy transformation and sustainable development, integrating and utilizing renewable energy effectively have become the key to the power system advancement. However, the integration of wind and photovoltaic power generation equipment also leads to power fluctuations in the distribution network. The research focuses on the multifaceted challenges of optimizing the operation of distribution networks. It explores the operation and control methods of active distribution networks based on energy storage and reactive power compensation equipment. The stable operation of the distribution network is analyzed under the conditions of wind and photovoltaic integration, with a particular focus on precise regulation to address the limitations of existing methods. Afterwards, the study proposes an improvement plan that combines on load tap changer transformers and reactive power compensation equipment to solve complex power balance problems through second-order cone programming relaxation method. The results of numerical analysis show that the constructed mathematical model maintains a stable voltage of 1 to 1.1 pu at distribution network nodes within 24 h. Especially during peak hours from 15:00 to 24:00, it remains normal without any abnormal fluctuations when the control equipment is not added. These results confirm that precise regulation of multiple devices ensures voltage stability and avoids low or high voltage issues.

Abstract Based on urban flood hydrology processes and hydrodynamic principles, the stormwater management model (SWMM) was improved upon. The coupling and implementation methods of the SWMM and two-dimensional hydrodynamic model are proposed. The improved SWMM was coupled with the hydrodynamic model both from the vertical and horizontal directions. The hydrology and hydrodynamic coupling model (HHDCM) was constructed and verified by using extreme rainstorm data. Taking July.20 extreme rainstorms (from July 17 to July 20, 2021, i.e., July.20 extreme rainstorm) in Zhengzhou city, Henan Province, China, as an example and using the HHDCM model, the flood disaster caused by July.20 extreme rainstorm was simulated. Based on the simulation results, an inundation distribution map was drawn for the urban area. A comparison between the simulated and measured results reveals that the maximum relative error in the simulated results is 12.5%. Therefore, the HHDCM model proposed in this paper has desirable accuracy and reliability for simulating extreme urban rainstorms and flood disasters.

Anthocyanins are plant secondary metabolites belonging to the polyphenol class of natural water-soluble phytopigments. The accumulation of anthocyanins in different plant tissues can improve plant survival under adverse conditions. In addition, plants with the resulting colorful morphology can be utilized as landscape plants. Triticum boeoticum (syn. Triticum monococcum ssp. aegilopoides, 2n=2x=14, AbAb) serves as a valuable genetic resource for the improvement of its close relative common wheat in terms of enhancing resilience to various biotic and abiotic stresses. In our previous study, the EMS-mutagenized mutant Z2921 with a red glume, stem, and rachis was generated from T. boeoticum G52, which has a green glume, stem, and rachis. In this study, the F1, F2, and F2:3 generations of a cross between mutant-type Z2921 and wild-type G52 were developed. A single recessive gene, tentatively designated RgM4G52, was identified in Z2921 via genetic analysis. Using bulked segregant exome capture sequencing (BSE-Seq) analysis, RgM4G52 was mapped to chromosome 6AL and was flanked by the markers KASP-58 and KASP-26 within a 3.40-cM genetic interval corresponding to 1.71-Mb and 1.61-Mb physical regions in the Chinese Spring (IWGSC RefSeq v1.1) and Triticum boeoticum (TA299) reference genomes, respectively, in which seven and four genes related to anthocyanin synthesis development were annotated. Unlike previously reported color morphology-related genes, RgM4G52 is a recessive gene that can simultaneously control the color of glumes, stems, and rachis in wild einkorn. In addition, a synthetic Triticum dicoccum–T. boeoticum amphiploid Syn-ABAb-34, derived from the colchicine treatment of F1 hybrids between tetraploid wheat PI 352367 (T. dicoccum, AABB) and Z2921, expressed the red stems of Z2921. The flanking markers of RgM4G52 developed in this study could be useful for developing additional common wheat lines with red stems, laying the foundation for marker-assisted breeding and the fine mapping of RgM4G52.

Water body extraction is an essential mission in the field of semantic segmentation of remote sensing images. It plays a significant role in natural disaster prevention, water resources utilization, hydrological monitoring, and other territories. In practice, the background of the majority of water remote sensing images is complicated. Owing to insufficient semantic mining and rough water body boundary extraction, traditional segmentation methods may be unable to adequately distinguish water bodies. We put forward a multiscale feature and global context fusion network (MSGFNet). In addition, multiscale feature extraction and fusion (MSEF) module based on UperNet and global context enhancement block (GCE Block) are designed. The MSEF module is capable of handling complex scenes by dynamically capturing multiscale semantic information and fusing different layers of features. The GCE Block can help the network to infer the location, shape and contextual information of the water bodies. The GF-1 dataset and Sentinel-2 dataset are used for model training simultaneously. The experimental results indicate that the extraction accuracy of the MSGFNet proposed are superior than other methods on GF-1 dataset and Sentinel-2 dataset, with overall accuracy of 98.60% and 98.22%, respectively. Compared to UperNet, the overall accuracy increases by 1.28% and 0.85%, respectively. In conclusion, the learning method build upon multiscale features and global context information can effectively prohibit noise, heighten the extraction accuracy of water bodies under intricate background, as well as ameliorate the matter of inaccurate water edge segmentation.

Abstract Nanochannel membranes have demonstrated remarkable potential for osmotic energy harvesting; however, their efficiency in practical high-salinity systems is hindered by reduced ion selectivity. Here, we propose a dual-separation transport strategy by constructing a two-dimensional (2D) vermiculite (VMT)-based heterogeneous nanofluidic system via an eco-friendly and scalable method. The cations are initially separated and enriched in micropores of substrates during the transmembrane diffusion, followed by secondary precise sieving in ultra-thin VMT laminates with high ion flux. Resultantly, our nanofluidic system demonstrates efficient osmotic energy harvesting performance, especially in hypersaline environment. Notably, we achieve a maximum power density of 33.76 W m−2, a 6.2-fold improvement with a ten-fold increase in salinity gradient, surpassing state-of-the-art nanochannel membranes under challenging conditions. Additionally, we confirm practical hypersaline osmotic power generation using various natural salt-lake brines, achieving a power density of 25.9 W m−2. This work triggers the hopes for practical blue energy conversion using advanced nanoarchitecture.

Abstract Background Self-efficacy has been recognized as a critical component in people’s participation and maintenance of physical activity. This study aims to validate the Chinese version of the Exercise Self-Efficacy Scale (ESE) among Chinese children and adolescents using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted on two primary and two secondary schools in central China. The ESE scale was translated into Chinese (ESE-C) using the standard forward-backward translation method. Data were analyzed using Mplus 8 for the CFA. Results The final model showed a satisfactory level of goodness-of-fit (CFI = 0.918; TLI = 0.905; SRMR = 0.043; RMSEA = 0.066), indicating a good construct validity of the ESE-C for children and adolescents in mainland China. Furthermore, the final ESE-C model achieved composite reliability values of 0.963 and average variance extraction values of 0.597, indicating sufficient convergent and discriminant validity. Besides, the Cronbach’s alpha value was 0.964, demonstrating excellent internal consistency of the ESE-C scale. Conclusion The ESE-C scale is a valid instrument for assessing exercise self-efficacy among children and adolescents in mainland China.

Background:The classical medicinal formula Huangqi Gancao Decoction (HQGCD), originating from the medical book" Yi Lin Gai Cuo". Up to now, the studies focusing on the immunoenhancement effects of HQGCD are few, and the actionpathway is not yet clear.Method:In this study, SPF male KM mice were utilized as a model for immunosuppression. Comprehensive observations were made regarding the general behavior and condition of the mice, in addition to monitoring fluctuations in body weight and food intake. The blood routine index was measured, and morphological changes in the ileum and colon tissues were examined. The level of secretory immunoglobulin A (sIgA), superoxide dismutase (SOD), and malondialdehyde (MDA) in ileum and colon tissues were quantified. Additionally, the bone marrow total DNA index was assessed. Flow cytometry analyzed the proportions of CD3⁺, CD4⁺, CD8⁺, and CD4+CD8+ double-positive (DP) T lymphocytes in small intestinal intraepithelial lymphocytes (IELs). Lastly, the composition and diversity of the cecal microbiota were evaluated using 16S rDNA sequencing technology.Results:After HQGCD intervention, there were no significant changes in the mice’s feed intake and body weight. However, the tissue structures of the ileum and colon showed recovery. In the blood routine index, there was an increase in the total white blood cell count, lymphocyte count, red blood cell count, hematocrit, and hemoglobin content. Additionally, the bone marrow total DNA index was elevated. Level of SOD and sIgA in ileum and colon tissues increased, while the level of MDA decreased. The proportions of CD3⁺ and CD4⁺ T lymphocytes within IELs increased, along with an increase in DP T lymphocytes in IELs (DP IELs), whereas the proportion of CD8⁺ T lymphocytes decreased. The cecal microbiota underwent changes, with an increase in the variety and number of beneficial microbiota.Conclusion:HQGCD could restore the intestinal immune function of immunocompromised mice, and had a certain positive effect on cecal microbiota.

Summary: Background: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a highly prevalent and deadly type of cancer, and although pharmacotherapy remains the cornerstone of treatment, therapeutic outcomes are often unsatisfactory. Pharmacological inhibition of mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) has been closely associated with HCC regression. Methods: Herein, we covalently conjugated AZD8055, a potent mTORC1/2 blocker, with a small panel of unsaturated fatty acids via a dynamically activating linkage to enable aqueous self-assembly of prodrug conjugates to form mTOR nanoblockers. Cell-based experiments were carried out to evaluate the effects of the nanoblocker against hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cells. The orthotopic and subcutaneous HCC mouse models were established to examine its antitumour activity. Findings: Among several fatty acids as promoieties, linoleic acid-conjugated self-assembling nanoblocker exhibited optimal size distribution and superior physiochemical properties. Compared with free agents, PEGylated AZD8055 nanoblocker (termed AZD NB) was pharmacokinetically optimized after intravenous administration. In vivo investigations confirmed that AZD NB significantly suppressed tumour outgrowth in subcutaneous HCCLM3 xenograft, Hepatoma-22, and orthotopic Hepa1-6 liver tumour models. Strikingly, treatment with AZD NB, but not free agent, increased intratumour infiltration of IFN-γ+CD8+ T cells and CD8+ memory T cells, suggesting a potential role of the mTOR nanoblocker to remodel the tumour microenvironment. Overall, a single conjugation with fatty acid transformed a hydrophobic mTOR blocker into a systemically injectable nanomedicine, representing a facile and generalizable strategy for improving the therapeutic index of mTOR inhibition-based cancer therapy. Interpretation: The mTOR inhibition by chemically engineered nanoblocker presented here had enhanced efficacy against tumours compared with the pristine drug and thus has the potential to improve the survival outcomes of patients with HCC. Additionally, this new nanosystem derived from co-assembling of small-molecule prodrug entities can serve as a delivery platform for the synergistic co-administration of distinct pharmaceutical agents. Among the bioactive compounds, lipid-soluble tanshinone is present in Salvia miltiorrhiza, a medicinal plant species. While it is known that ethephon has the ability to inhibit the tanshinones biosynthesis in the S. miltiorrhiza hairy root, however the underlying regulatory mechanism remains obscure. In this study, using the transcriptome dataset of the S. miltiorrhiza hairy root induced by ethephon, an ethylene-responsive transcriptional factor EIN3-like 1 (SmEIL1) was identified. The SmEIL1 protein was found to be localized in the nuclei, and confirmed by the transient transformation observed in tobacco leaves. The overexpression of SmEIL1 was able to inhibit the tanshinones accumulation to a large degree, as well as down-regulate tanshinones biosynthetic genes including SmGGPPS1, SmHMGR1, SmHMGS1, SmCPS1, SmKSL1 and SmCYP76AH1. These are well recognized participants in the tanshinones biosynthesis pathway. Further investigation on the SmEIL1 was observed to inhibit the transcription of the CPS1 gene by the Dual-Luciferase (Dual-LUC) and yeast one-hybrid (Y1H) assays. The data in this work will be of value regarding the involvement of EILs in regulating the biosynthesis of tanshinones and lay the foundation for the metabolic engineering of bioactive ingredients in S. miltiorrhiza.

Abstract Background Puerperal infection (PI) is a severe threat to maternal health. The incidence and risk of PI should be accurately quantified and conveyed for prior decision-making. This study aims to assess the quality of the published literature on the epidemiology of PI, and synthesize them to identify the temporal trends and risk factors of PI occurring in Mainland China. Methods This review was registered in PROSPERO (CRD42021267399). Putting a time frame on 2010 to March 2022, we searched Cochrane library, Embase, Google Scholar, MEDLINE, Web of Science, China biology medicine, China national knowledge infrastructure and Chinese medical current contents, and performed a meta-analysis and meta-regression to pool the incidence of PI and the effects of risk factors on PI. Results A total of 49 eligible studies with 133,938 participants from 17 provinces were included. The pooled incidence of PI was 4.95% (95%CIs, 4.46–5.43), and there was a statistical association between the incidence of PI following caesarean section and the median year of data collection. Gestational hypertension (OR = 2.14), Gestational diabetes mellitus (OR = 1.82), primipara (OR = 0.81), genital tract inflammation (OR = 2.51), anemia during pregnancy (OR = 2.28), caesarean section (OR = 2.03), episiotomy (OR = 2.64), premature rupture of membrane (OR = 2.54), prolonged labor (OR = 1.32), placenta remnant (OR = 2.59) and postpartum hemorrhage (OR = 2.43) have significant association with PI. Conclusions Maternal infection remains a crucial complication during puerperium in Mainland China, which showed a nationwide temporal rising following caesarean section in the past decade. The opportunity to prevent unnecessary PI exists in several simple but necessary measures and it’s urgent for clinicians and policymakers to focus joint efforts on promoting the bundle of evidence-based practices.

The construction of an energy distribution network can improve the system’s ability to absorb new energy, and its stable and efficient operation has become more and more important. The security and stability analysis of a distribution network needs accurate distribution network model parameters as support. At present, the installation of PMU equipment in China’s distribution network synchronous phase angle measurement unit is limited, which brings challenges to the parameter correction of the distribution network. In this paper, an automatic correction algorithm of distribution network parameters based on the CIM model and measurement data is proposed for the distribution network system without PMU. Firstly, the distribution network topology construction technology based on XML files and key fields of the distribution network is proposed, and the non/small impedance devices (such as switches) are merged and reduced. The breadth-first traversal algorithm is used to verify the connectivity of the constructed topology. Then, based on the topology construction and the least squares method, an iterative parameter correction technique is constructed. Finally, the accuracy and effectiveness of the proposed algorithm are verified in a standard IEEE 33-bus system distribution network and an example of the China Southern Power Grid. The topology connections constructed based on the CIM model have significantly enhanced the efficiency of parameter correction.

Water, energy, and food (WEF) are critical resources to sustain urban development, which requires a sustainable structure of the urban WEF nexus to address trade-offs and achieve synergies. Although interactions in the WEF nexus are widely explored, its sustainable structure has largely been ignored. This study constructs a framework of WEF nexus sustainability factors. Based on a literature review and expert opinions, 21 factors influencing urban WEF nexus sustainability were extracted and their interrelationships determined. We used social network analysis (SNA) and interpretive structural modeling (ISM) to analyze the structure of the urban WEF network. The results indicate that technological investment and industrial added-value energy consumption are the most critical and fundamental factors for promoting the sustainable development of the urban WEF nexus. Additionally, the balance of water supply and demand and the comprehensive management of waste pollutants are also driving and supporting factors for the sustainability of the urban WEF nexus. The results of this study complement the interaction mechanism research of the urban WEF nexus and provide practical references for sustainable decision-making in urban WEF nexus practices.

Recognizing the importance of incorporating different risk measures in the portfolio management model, this paper examines the dynamic mean-risk portfolio optimization problem using both variance and value at risk (VaR) as risk measures. By employing the martingale approach and integrating the quantile optimization technique, we provide a solution framework for this problem. We demonstrate that, under a general market setting, the optimal terminal wealth may exhibit different patterns. When the market parameters are deterministic, we derive the closed-form solution for this problem. Examples are provided to illustrate the solution procedure of our method and demonstrate the benefits of our dynamic portfolio model compared to its static counterpart.

In recent years, the exercise behavior of Chinese adolescents has been on the decline, which is extremely detrimental to their physical and mental health development. However, few studies have explored the mechanisms by which exercise cognition influences Chinese adolescents’ exercise behavior. The present study aimed to investigate the relationship between exercise cognition and exercise behavior among Chinese adolescents and the mediating role of satisfying basic psychological needs for exercise. The study consisted of 996 adolescents (44.6% males, 55.4% females) between the ages of 12 and 15 (M = 13.34, SD = 1.059). Participants’ exercise behaviors and the satisfaction of basic psychological needs for exercise data were collected via surveys. Structure equation modeling (SEM) was performed to examine the direct and indirect effects. The results were as follows: (1) adolescents’ perceptions of exercise were significantly associated with exercise behavior and (2) the mediation model suggests that the satisfaction of basic psychological needs for exercise is an important mechanism by which exercise cognition influences the occurrence of exercise behavior. Therefore, it is crucial to help adolescents form good exercise cognition. Schools, families, and society should take responsibility for adolescents’ formation of good exercise cognition and satisfy adolescents’ basic psychological needs for exercise so as to enhance adolescents’ exercise behaviors and thereby develop good exercise habits.

Abstract Spontaneous activity of the human brain provides a window to explore intrinsic principles of functional organization. However, most studies have focused on interregional functional connectivity. The principles underlying rich repertoires of instantaneous activity remain largely unknown. We apply a recently proposed eigen-microstate analysis to three resting-state functional MRI datasets to identify basic modes that represent fundamental activity patterns that coexist over time. We identify five leading basic modes that dominate activity fluctuations. Each mode exhibits a distinct functional system-dependent coactivation pattern and corresponds to specific cognitive profiles. In particular, the spatial pattern of the first leading basis mode shows the separation of activity between the default-mode and primary and attention regions. Based on theoretical modelling, we further reconstruct individual functional connectivity as the weighted superposition of coactivation patterns corresponding to these leading basic modes. Moreover, these leading basic modes capture sleep deprivation-induced changes in brain activity and interregional connectivity, primarily involving the default-mode and task-positive regions. Our findings reveal a dominant set of basic modes of spontaneous activity that reflect multiplexed interregional coordination and drive conventional functional connectivity, furthering the understanding of the functional significance of spontaneous brain activity.

The urgency to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions from maritime vessels has intensified due to the increasingly stringent directives set forth by the International Maritime Organization (IMO). These directives specifically address energy efficiency enhancements and emissions reduction within the shipping industry. In this context, hydrogen is the much sought after fuel for all the global economies and its applications, for transportation and propulsion in particular, is crucial for cutting down carbon emissions. Nevertheless, the realization of hydrogen-powered vessels is confronted by substantial technical hurdles that necessitate thorough examination. This study undertakes a comprehensive analysis encompassing diverse facets, including distinct variations of hydrogen fuel cells, hydrogen internal combustion engines, safety protocols associated with energy storage, as well as the array of policies and commercialization endeavors undertaken globally for the advancement of hydrogen-propelled ships. By amalgamating insights from these multifaceted dimensions, this paper adeptly encapsulates the myriad challenges intrinsic to the evolution of hydrogen-fueled maritime vessels, while concurrently casting a forward-looking gaze on their prospective trajectory.

Physical activity (PA) is widely recognized as crucial for human health, yet the low level of PA in adolescents continues to raise major concerns. This study aims to validate the Chinese version of the Social Support Scale for Exercise (SE) and establish its reliability among Chinese adolescents. A cross-sectional study was conducted on two primary and two secondary schools in central China. Students were recruited using a random cluster sampling method, and written informed consent was provided after they were briefed on the purpose of the study. The standard forward-backward translation was applied to translate the English version of the SE into Chinese. The Social Support Scale used in this study consists of two factors: family support and friend support. Data were analyzed using Mplus 8 for the CFA, composite reliability (CR), average variance extracted (AVE), and intra-class correlation coefficients (ICC) were calculated. A total of 1422 students (boys = 838, girls = 604) with a mean age of 11 years (SD = 1.6) participated in the study. The measurement model of the translated social support scale fit the data well: CFI = .935; TLI = .929; SRMR = .038; RMSEA = .053, with a 90% confidence interval of (.051, .056; RMSEA p < .001). The composite reliability values of .935 for family support and .948 for friend support were acceptable. The intra-class correlation coefficients (ICC) based on test-retest were .928 for family support, and .904 for friend support. Hence, the Chinese version of the SE was valid and reliable, its implementation will provide researchers with a valuable tool to comprehensively assess Chinese adolescents' exercise-related social support and help develop targeted and effective interventions to improve their physical activity levels.

BackgroundLonger times between diagnosis and treatments of cancer patients have been estimated as effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, relatively few studies attempted to estimate actual delay to treatment at the patient level.ObjectiveTo assess changes in delays to first treatment and surgery among newly diagnosed patients with localized breast cancer (BC) during the COVID-19 pandemic.MethodsWe used data from the PAPESCO-19 multicenter cohort study, which included patients from 4 French comprehensive cancer centers. We measured the delay to first treatment as the number of days between diagnosis and the first treatment regardless of whether this was neoadjuvant chemotherapy or surgery. COVID-19 pandemic exposure was estimated with a composite index that considered both the severity of the pandemic and the level of lockdown restrictions. We ran generalized linear models with a log link function and a gamma distribution to model the association between delay and the pandemic.ResultsOf the 187 patients included in the analysis, the median delay to first treatment was 42 (IQR:32-54) days for patients diagnosed before and after the start of the 1st lockdown (N = 99 and 88, respectively). After adjusting for age and centers of inclusion, a higher composite pandemic index (> = 50 V.S. ConclusionWe found evidence of no direct impact of the pandemic on the actual delay to treatment among patients with localized BC.

In recent years, in the classic battles and armed conflicts around the world, battlefield environment reconnaissance and the collection and processing of operational information play an increasingly critical role in the victory and defeat of the battlefield. Unmanned equipment, especially UAV equipment, is used by more and more countries in the field of combat reconnaissance. Meanwhile, the types of UAV are gradually diversified with the change of operational requirements. UAVs adapted to different combat environments shine brightly on the battlefield. In terms of naval battle field, due to the limitations and deficiencies of reconnaissance methods such as surface radar, UAVs play a more prominent role in combat reconnaissance. There are more scenarios for UAVs to be used in combat reconnaissance in naval battle field and higher requirements for UAVs’ combat effectiveness. Therefore, this paper takes UAVs’ naval battle reconnaissance missions as the research object. By using PSO as the research method, this paper studies the combat reconnaissance task configuration of UAVs, hoping to contribute to the improvement of UAVs’ combat reconnaissance capability and combat effectiveness.

Compound Chinese medicine (F1) is a traditional prescription in Chinese medicine that is commonly used to treat spleen deficiency diarrhea (SDD). It has demonstrated remarkable effectiveness in clinical practice. However, the precise mechanism by which it exerts its antidiarrheal effect is still unclear. This study aimed at investigating the antidiarrheal efficacy and mechanism of F1 on senna-induced secretory diarrhea (SDD). Senna was utilized to induce the development of a mouse model of senna-induced secretory diarrhea (SDD) in order to observe the rate of diarrhea, diarrhea index, blood biochemistry, and histopathological changes in the small intestine. Additionally, the levels of sodium and hydrogen exchange protein 3 (NHE3) and short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) were determined using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The impact of F1 on the senna-induced SDD mouse models was evaluated by monitoring changes in the gut microbiota through 16S rRNA (V3-V4) sequencing. The results demonstrated that F1, a traditional Chinese medicine, effectively increased the body weight of SDD mice and reduced the incidence of diarrhea and diarrhea index. Additionally, F1 restored liver and kidney function, reduced the infiltration of inflammatory cells in intestinal tissue, and promoted the growth of intestinal villi. Furthermore, F1 was found to enhance the expression of NHE3 and SCFAs. It also increased the abundance of Firmicutes and Lactobacillus species, while decreasing the abundance of Proteobacteria and Shigella.

Triticum boeoticum Boiss. (AbAb, 2n = 2x = 14) is a wheat-related species with the blue aleurone trait. In this study, 18 synthetic Triticum turgidum-Triticum boeoticum amphiploids were identified, which were derived from crosses between T. boeoticum and T. turgidum. Three probes (Oligo-pTa535, Oligo-pSc119.2, and Oligo-pTa713) for multicolor fluorescence in situ hybridization (mc-FISH) were combined with genomic in situ hybridization (GISH) to identify chromosomal composition. Seven nutritional indices (anthocyanins, protein, total essential amino acids TEAA, Fe, Zn, Mn and Cu) were measured, and the nutritional components of 18 synthetic amphiploids were comprehensively ranked by principal component analysis (PCA). The results showed that all three synthetic amphiploids used for cytological identification contained 42 chromosomes, including 14 A, 14 B, and 14 Ab chromosomes. The average anthocyanin content was 82.830 μg/g to 207.606 μg/g in the whole meal of the 17 blue-grained lines (Syn-ABAb-1 to Syn-ABAb-17), which was obviously higher than that in the yellow-grained line Syn-ABAb-18 (6.346 μg/g). The crude protein content was between 154.406 and 180.517 g/kg, and the EAA content was 40.193-63.558 mg/g. The Fe, Zn, Mn and Cu levels in the 17 blue-grained lines were 60.55 to 97.41 mg/kg, 60.55-97.41 mg/kg, 35.11 to 65.20 mg/kg and 5.74 to 7.22 mg/kg, respectively, which were higher than those in the yellow-grained line. The contribution of the first three principal components reached 84%. The first principal component was mainly anthocyanins, Fe, Zn and Mn. The second principal component contained protein and amino acids, and the third component contained only Cu. The top 5 Triticum turgidum-Triticum boeoticum amphiploids were Syn-ABAb-11, Syn-ABAb-17, Syn-ABAb-5, Syn-ABAb-8 and Syn-ABAb-4. These amphidiploids exhibited the potential to serve as candidates for hybridization with common wheat, as indicated by comprehensive score rankings, toward enhancing the nutritional quality of wheat.

Abstract The hollow and tubular structure of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) makes them ideal candidates for making nanopores. However, the heterogeneity of SWCNTs hinders the fabrication of robust and reproducible carbon-based nanopore sensors. Here we develop a modified density gradient ultracentrifugation approach to separate ultrashort (≈5-10 nm) SWCNTs with a narrow conductance range and construct high-resolution nanopore sensors with those tubes inserted in lipid bilayers. By conducting ionic current recordings and fluorescent imaging of Ca2+ flux through different nanopores, we prove that the ion mobilities in SWCNT nanopores are 3-5 times higher than the bulk mobility. Furthermore, we employ SWCNT nanopores to discriminate homologue or isomeric proteinogenic amino acids, which are challenging tasks for other nanopore sensors. These successes, coupled with the building of SWCNT nanopore arrays, may constitute a crucial part of the recently burgeoning protein sequencing technologies.

Abstract A hybrid series‐parallel microgrid structure and its distributed decentralized cooperative control strategy are introduced in this paper. In the hybrid series‐parallel microgrids, the distributed generators (DGs) are concatenated in parallel to form a paralleled‐connected generation (PCG) module. Further, the hybrid series‐parallel microgrids consist of multiple PCG modules in series. For the considered microgrids, a distributed decentralized cooperative control strategy is proposed. For DGs in the same PCG module, low‐bandwidth communications are applied to obtain convergence control of the system. Meanwhile, different PCG modules realize autonomous synchronization in a communication‐free manner. Thus, the proposed distributed decentralized cooperative control method is a low‐bandwidth communication approach. Moreover, it is immune to single‐point fault and communication failure. Finally, the feasibility of the proposed controller for the considered microgrids is verified by stability and simulations.

With the increase of distributed generations, the problems related to lack of inertia and damping support for cascaded-type power networks are becoming more and more prominent. This may lead to oscillation and even system instability. To address this problem, a decentralized control with adaptive virtual inertia and damping combination method is proposed for islanded cascaded-type virtual synchronous generator (VSG) systems. Firstly, a model of islanded cascaded-type VSGs was developed to analyze the impact of changes in inertia and damping coefficients on frequency characteristics during dynamic processes. Subsequently, a decentralized control was proposed, which employs an adaptive method for regulating inertia and damping coefficients in real-time. The scheme effectively suppresses power and frequency oscillation, leading to improved dynamic frequency performance. Furthermore, this decentralized strategy only requires the local voltage and current measurements, ensuring a fully decentralized implementation. The cascaded-type VSGs demonstrate satisfactory reliability. The stability of the proposed strategy has been demonstrated, and guidelines for designing key control coefficients have been validated through the Lyapunov energy function method. Simulation and experimental results validate the proposed method.

The standard cuckoo search algorithm (SCSA) is an intelligent population optimization algorithm, which is also a heuristic search algorithm. The advantages of the SCSA (such as its convenient operation, heuristic searching, etc.) make it easy to find an optimal solution and maintain a wide searching range. However, the SCSA also has some drawbacks, such as long searching time, and the ease of falling on a local optimum. In order to solve the problems existing with SCSA, in this paper, an improved standard cuckoo search algorithm (ISCSA) was studied, which includes chaotic initialization and a Gaussian disturbance algorithm. As a case study, taking economic, social and ecological benefits as the objective function, multi-objective water resources optimal allocation models were constructed in Xianxiang Region, China. The ISCSA was applied to solve the water allocation models and a multi-objective optimal water supply scheme for Xinxiang region was obtained. Water resources optimal allocation schemes for the planning level year (2025) for 12 water supply sub-regions were predicted. A desirable eco-environment and other benefits were achieved using the studied methods. The results show that the ISCSA has obvious advantages in the solution of water resources optimal allocation and planning. HIGHLIGHTS The improved standard cuckoo search algorithm (ISCSA) was studied to overcome the disadvantages of the standard cuckoo search algorithm (SCSA);; The superiority of the ISCSA algorithm was tested and comparisons were made among different functions;; A typical region of China was selected and multi-objective water resources optimal allocation models were constructed and solved using ISCSA;; Desirable results were achieved by using the studied methods.;

Summary: Numerosity perception is a fundamental cognitive function in humans and animals. Using an individual difference approach with a comprehensive dataset (N = 249), we performed a voxel-based morphometry analysis to unravel the neuroanatomical substrates associated with individual differences in numerosity perception sensitivity, measured by a classical non-symbolic numerical judgment task. Results showed that greater gray matter volume (GMV) in the left cerebellum, right temporal pole, and right parahippocampal was positively correlated to higher perceptual sensitivity to numerosity. In contrast, the GMV in the left intraparietal sulcus, and bilateral precentral/postcentral gyrus was negatively correlated to the sensitivity of numerosity perception. These findings indicate that a wide range of brain structures, rather than a specific anatomical structure or circuit, forms the neuroanatomical basis of numerosity perception, lending support to the emerging network view of the neural representation of numerosity. This work contributes to a more comprehensive understanding of how the brain processes numerical information.

Summary: Background: Long-term treatment with immunosuppressants is necessary to attenuate allograft rejection following organ transplantation (OT). Consequently, the overall survival of OT recipients with malignancies has been substantially compromised by tumour recurrence. Rapamycin (RAPA) is a clinically approved immunosuppressive agent with antitumour activity that is considered beneficial in preventing posttransplant tumour recurrence. However, the clinical outcome of RAPA is impeded by acquired drug resistance and its poor oral bioavailability. Methods: A nanotherapeutic strategy was developed by supramolecular assembly of RAPA into a polymer cytotoxic 7-ethyl-10-hydroxycamptothecin (SN38) prodrug nanoparticle (termed SRNP) for simultaneous codelivery of cytotoxic/immunosuppressive agents. Cell-based experiments were used to evaluate the cytotoxicity of SRNPs against hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The therapeutic efficacy of SRNPs was evaluated in multiple preclinical models including an orthotopic HCC mouse model, an orthotopic liver transplantation (OLT) rat model and a clinically relevant cancer-transplant model to examine its antitumour and immunosuppressive activity. Findings: The combination of SN38 with RAPA resulted in synergetic effects against HCC cells and alleviated RAPA resistance by abrogating Akt/mTOR signalling activation. SRNPs exhibited potent antitumour efficiency in the orthotopic HCC model while substantially prolonging the survival of allografts in the OLT model. In the cancer-transplant model that simultaneously bears tumour xenografts and skin allografts, SRNPs not only effectively inhibited tumour growth but also attenuated allograft damage. Interpretation: The nanotherapy presented here had enhanced efficacy against tumours and maintained satisfactory immunosuppressive activity and thus has great potential to improve the survival outcomes of patients with a high risk of tumour recurrence following OT. Roots play an important role in the carbon cycle of ecosystems.The Earth System Models （ESMs） of the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project （CMIP） have been widely used to simulate and predict root biomass.In this paper， the spatial distribution， dynamic change， and comparison with observed values of root biomass of 14 ESMs simulated historical experiments were analyzed.The results showed that： （1） The global distribution of multi-year average from 1850 to 2005 of root biomass indicated that 7 ESMs had maximum or minimum values， while the rest ESMs showed that root biomass was higher in the middle and high latitudes of the equator and the northern hemisphere.The root biomass distribution at different latitudes showed that 40°S is also one of the high value areas； （2） The simulation results from 1995 to 2005 are compared with the site observation data （1990 -2010） in different climatic zones by using SS index， the result showed deviations are relatively large but the simulation effect of temperate zone is slightly better than frigid zone and tropical zone.On the global scale， BCC-CSM2-MR is the best simulated ESM； （3） In the Qinghai-Xizang Plateau， ESMs can reasonably simulate the seasonal variation over the years 1850 to 2005 of root biomass， but the relationship between interannual variation of the simulated root biomass and the meteorological factors （temperature， precipitation） by different ESMs is different.In order to conduct more precise and in-depth research and analysis， in addition to improving the model， it is also necessary to improve the collection of observational data.

Abstract Wetland structure evolution is a basis of healthy ecosystem and one of the important indicators for restoration and protection of wetlands. In this paper, based on the Landsat remote sensing images from 1980 to 2020, the wetland structure was extracted by using the supervised classification method in the Dongping Lake. A CA–Markov Model was put forward to set up wetland transfer matrix and to improve the space and quantity of simulation results. The temporal-spatial evolution of the wetland and landscape indicators were studied, and the evolution trend as well as driving forces were analyzed. The studied results show that, in recent years, the wetland landscape pattern transfer were occurred continuously, in which the area of bare land significantly decreased, the infrastructure land use significantly increased, the natural water surface increased gradually. The studied landscape pattern indices show that the wetland landscape evenness index increased, the landscape diversity index tends to be decreased, the degree of wetland landscape fragmentation is basically balanced, but the overall trend is increasing, and the landscape diversity tends to be simple. At present, the area of wild reeds takes the dominant trend in the main wetland area, which accounts for 55% of the total wetland area. The proportion of forest and grass land area accounts for 9%.

Abstract Firstly, based on the river health evaluation theory and starting from the integrity of the river system, the river health evaluation index system is selected. Secondly, the index systems of river health assessment including river morphology, hydrological and environmental characteristics, habitat elements and human activity characteristics are determined. Thirdly, set-pair (SPA) evaluation theory and extension were dealt with, a set-pair analysis-extension coupling model is constructed. Finally, taking Huangchuan Rive as an example, the ecological health evaluation on the river channel is carried out by using set-pair analysis-extension coupling model. The results of the comprehensive evaluation using the set-pair analysis-extension coupling method is obtained through calculation. It is proved by practice that the method of river health evaluation using the coupling model of set-pair analysis and extension theory could make full use of the data transformation and extension calculation, which shows the superiority in calculating correlation degree, and could reflect the determination and uncertainty of practical problems. It is possible to comprehensively consider all relevant factors. The paper provides a new idea for solving the relevant problems and obtains more accurate conclusion.

Abstract Starting from the overall pattern of wetland evolution in the Yellow River Delta, the combination of CA–Markov model and MLP model is studied. Based on the low-medium resolution Landsat data and the field survey data, the evolution trend of wetland landscape pattern in the Yellow River Delta is simulated and predicted by using the proposed models. Taking high resolution (2 m) data in 2016 as the precision verification, the model simulation results are validated. The results show that the area of natural wetlands in the Delta was decreased from 2593.63 km2 in 1976 to 1639.60 km2 in 2016, a total area of 954.03 km2wasreduced. According to the model simulation, the natural wetland area in 2026 is predicted to be 1252.7 km2, the constructed wetland area will be 1265.0 km2, and the non-wetland area will be 924.5 km2. The constructed wetland in the Yellow River Delta is increasing and spreading into the sea, but the area of natural wetland has been decreasing. If this trend be developed, the national natural wetland conservation target would not be realized. The results are of great significance to the wetland development planning, management and protection in the Yellow River Delta.

BackgroundPatients usually suffer acute pain after cardiac surgery. Numerous regional anesthetic techniques have been used for those patients under general anesthesia. The most effective regional anesthetic technique was still unclear.MethodsFive databases were searched, including PubMed, MEDLINE, Embase, ClinicalTrials.gov, and Cochrane Library. The efficiency outcomes were pain scores, cumulative morphine consumption, and the need for rescue analgesia in this Bayesian analysis. Postoperative nausea, vomiting and pruritus were safety outcomes. Functional outcomes included the time to tracheal extubation, ICU stay, hospital stay, and mortality.ResultsThis meta-analysis included 65 randomized controlled trials involving 5,013 patients. Eight regional anesthetic techniques were involved, including thoracic epidural analgesia (TEA), erector spinae plane block, and transversus thoracic muscle plane block. Compared to controls (who have not received regional anesthetic techniques), TEA reduced the pain scores at 6, 12, 24 and 48 h both at rest and cough, decreased the rate of need for rescue analgesia (OR = 0.10, 95% CI: 0.016–0.55), shortened the time to tracheal extubation (MD = −181.55, 95% CI: −243.05 to −121.33) and the duration of hospital stay (MD = −0.73, 95% CI: −1.22 to −0.24). Erector spinae plane block reduced the pain score 6 h at rest and the risk of pruritus, shortened the duration of ICU stay compared to controls. Transversus thoracic muscle plane block reduced the pain scores 6 and 12 h at rest compared to controls. The cumulative morphine consumption of each technique was similar at 24, 48 h. Other outcomes were also similar among these regional anesthetic techniques.ConclusionsTEA seems the most effective regional postoperative anesthesia for patients after cardiac surgery by reducing the pain scores and decreasing the rate of need for rescue analgesia.Systematic Review Registrationhttps://www.crd.york.ac.uk/prospero/, ID: CRD42021276645

Background and aimsThe triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index is a reliable alternative marker for insulin resistance (IR). Pericoronary adipose tissue (PCAT) can indirectly reflect coronary inflammation. IR and coronary inflammation play a key role in the development and progression of coronary atherosclerosis. Therefore, this study investigated the relationships between the TyG index, PCAT and atherosclerotic plaque characteristics to explore whether IR might lead to coronary artery atherosclerosis progression by inducing coronary inflammation.MethodsWe retrospectively collected data on patients with chest pain who underwent coronary computed tomography angiography using spectral detector computed tomography at our institution from June to December 2021. The patients were grouped based on their TyG index levels: T1 (low), T2 (medium), and T3 (high). Each patient was assessed for total plaque volume, plaque load, maximum stenosis, the plaque component volume proportion, high-risk plaques(HRPs), and plaque characteristics (including low attenuation plaques, positive remodeling, a napkin ring sign, and spot calcification). PCAT quantification was performed on the proximal right coronary artery using the fat attenuation index (FAI) measured from a conventional multicolor computed tomography image (FAI120kVp), a spectral virtual single-energy image (FAI40keV), and the slope of the spectral HU curve (λHU).ResultsWe enrolled 201 patients. The proportion of patients with maximum plaque stenosis, positive remodeling, low-density plaques, and HRPs increased as the TyG index level increased. Mixotrophic denitrification processes have a great potential in nitrogen removal in biological wastewater treatment processes. However, so far, few studies have focused on the mixotrophic denitrification system using Fe(II) as an exclusively assisted electron donors and the underlying mechanisms in such a process remain unclear. Furthermore, the mechanisms by which microorganisms cover carbon, nitrogen, phosphorus and iron in an iron-assisted mixotrophic system remain unrevealed. In this work, we explore the feasibility of using Fe(II) as an assisted electron donor for enhancing simultaneous nitrogen and phosphorus removal via long-term reactor operation and batch tests. The results show that Fe(II) could provide electrons for efficient nitrate reduction and that biological reactions played a predominant role in these systems. In these systems Thermomonas, a strain of nitrate-reduction Fe(II)-oxidation bacterium, was enriched and accounted for a maximum abundance of 60.2%. These findings indicate a great potential of the Fe(II)-assisted mixotrophic denitrification system for practical use as an efficient simultaneous nitrogen and phosphorus removal process.

Porous tantalum (Ta) implants have been developed and clinically applied as high-quality implant biomaterials in the orthopedics field because of their excellent corrosion resistance, biocompatibility, osteointegration, and bone conductivity. Porous Ta allows fine bone ingrowth and new bone formation through the inner space because of its high porosity and interconnected pore structure. It contributes to rapid bone integration and long-term stability of osseointegrated implants. Porous Ta has excellent wetting properties and high surface energy, which facilitate the adhesion, proliferation, and mineralization of osteoblasts. Moreover, porous Ta is superior to classical metallic materials in avoiding the stress shielding effect, minimizing the loss of marginal bone, and improving primary stability because of its low elastic modulus and high friction coefficient. Accordingly, the excellent biological and mechanical properties of porous Ta are primarily responsible for its rising clinical translation trend. Over the past 2 decades, advanced fabrication strategies such as emerging manufacturing technologies, surface modification techniques, and patient-oriented designs have remarkably influenced the microstructural characteristic, bioactive performance, and clinical indications of porous Ta scaffolds. The present review offers an overview of the fabrication methods, modification techniques, and orthopedic applications of porous Ta implants.
