In a holographic model, which was used to investigate the color superconducting phase of QCD, a dilute gas of instantons is introduced to study the nuclear matter. The free energy of the nuclear matter is computed as a function of the baryon chemical potential in the probe approximation. Then the equation of state is obtained at low temperature. Using the equation of state for the nuclear matter, the Tolman-Oppenheimer-Volkov equations for a cold compact star are solved. We find the mass-radius relation of the star, which is similar to the one for quark star. This similarity implies that the instanton gas given here is a kind of self-bound matter.

We extend a bottom up holographic model, which has been used in studying the color superconductivity in QCD, to the imaginary chemical potential ($\mu_I$) region, and the phase diagram is studied on the $\mu_I$-temperature (T) plane. The analysis is performed for the case of the probe approximation and for the background where the back reaction from the flavor fermions are taken into account. For both cases, we could find the expected Roberge-Weiss (RW) transitions. In the case of the back-reacted solution, a bound of the color number $N_c$ is found to produce the RW periodicity. It is given as $N_c\geq 1.2$. Furthermore, we could assure the validity of this extended model by comparing our result with the one of the lattice QCD near $\mu_I=0$., Comment: 18 pages, 6 figures

A holographic bottom-up model used in studying the superconducting system is applied to search for the color superconducting phase of supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory with quarks. We apply the probe analysis of this model to the supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory in both the confinement and the deconfinement phases. In this analysis, we find the color superconductivity in both phases when the baryon chemical potential exceeds a certain critical value. This result implies that, above the critical chemical potential, a color nonsinglet diquark operator, namely the Cooper pair, has its vacuum expectation value even in the confinement phase. In order to improve this peculiar situation, we proceed with the analysis by taking account of the full backreaction from the probe. As a result, the color superconducting phase, which is observed in the probe approximation, disappears in both the confinement and the deconfinement phases when parameters of the theory are set within their reasonable values.

We study the time evolution of early universe which is developed by a cosmological constant $\Lambda_4$ and supersymmetric Yang-Mills (SYM) fields in the Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) space-time. The renormalized vacuum expectation value of energy-momentum tensor of the SYM theory is obtained in a holographic way. It includes a radiation of the SYM field, parametrized as $C$. The evolution is controlled by this radiation $C$ and the cosmological constant $\Lambda_4$. For positive $\Lambda_4$, an inflationary solution is obtained at late time. When $C$ is added, the quantum mechanical situation at early time is fairly changed. Here we perform the early time analysis in terms of two different approaches, (i) the Wheeler-DeWitt equation and (ii) Lorentzian path-integral with the Picard-Lefschetz method by introducing an effective action. We study the time development of strongly coupled ${\cal N}=4$ supersymmetric Yang Mills (SYM) theory on cosmological Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) backgrounds via the AdS/CFT correspondence. We implement the cosmological background as a boundary metric fulfilling the Friedmann equation with a four-dimensional cosmological constant and a dark radiation term. We analyze the dual bulk solution of the type IIB supergravity and find that the time-dependence of the FRW background strongly influences the dynamical properties of the SYM theory. We in particular find a phase transition between a confined and a deconfined phase. We study the instability, for the supersymmetric Yang-Mills (SYM) theories, caused by the external electric field through the imaginary part of the action of the D7 probe brane, which is embedded in the background of type IIB theory. This instability is related to the Schwinger effect, namely to the quark pair production due to the external electric field, for the $SU(N_c)$ SYM theories. In this holographic approach, it is possible to calculate the Schwinger effect for various phases of the theories. Here we give the calculation for ${\cal N}=2$ SYM theory and the analysis is extended to the finite temperature deconfinement and the zero temperature confinement phases of the Yang-Mills (YM) theory. By comparing the obtained production rates with the one of the supersymmetric case, the dynamical quark mass is estimated and we find how it varies with the chiral condensate. Based on this analysis, we give a speculation on the extension of the Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model to the finite temperature YM theory, and four fermi coupling is evaluated in the confinement theory., 25 pages, 12 figures

We study the holographic supersymmetric Yang-Mills (SYM) theory, which is living in a hyperbolic space, in terms of the entanglement entropy. The theory contains a parameter ($C$) corresponding to the excitation of the SYM theory, and it controls the dynamical properties of the theory. The entanglement temperature ($T_{ent}$) is obtained by imposing the thermodynamic law for the relative entanglement entropy and the energy density of the excitation. This temperature is available at any value of the parameter $C$ even in the region where the Hawking temperature disappears. With this new temperature, the dynamical properties of the excited SYM theory are examined in terms of the thermodynamic law. We study a holographic gauge theory living in the AdS$_4$ space-time at finite temperature. The gravity dual is obtained as a solution of the type IIB superstring theory with two free parameters, which correspond to four dimensional (4D) cosmological constant ($\lambda$) and the dark radiation ($C$) respectively. We consider a holographic model of QCD at finite temperature with nonzero chemical potentials conjugate to $R$-charge densities. A critical surface of the confinement-deconfinement phase transition is shown for five-dimensional charged black hole solution given by Behrnd, Cveti\v{c} and Sabra. On a special section of the parameter space, we find an critical curve being similar to the one expected in QCD. We calculate meson spectra and decay constants in the confinement phase of this section to see their temperature and chemical potential dependences. We propose a brane-world, which contains flavor quarks and mesons, by embedding dimensionally reduced D7-brane in both the supersymmetric and non-supersymmetric 5d background which are obtained as the solutions of type IIB supergravity compactified on Ad$S_5\times S^5$. In the supersymmetric case, the RS brane can be put at any point of the fifth coordinate, but it is pushed to the Ad$S_5$ boundary in the non-supersymmetric case. We study the localization of the flavor mesons, the fluctuation-modes of D7-brane, on the Randall-Sundrum brane in these backgrounds., 15 pages, 2 figures

We address the localization of a scalar field, whose bulk-mass M is considered in a wide range including the tachyonic region,on a three-brane. The brane with non-zero cosmological constant $\lambda$ is embedded in five dimensional bulk space. We find in this case that the trapped scalar could have mass $m$ which has an upper bound and expressed as $m^2=m_0^2+\alpha M^2\leq \beta |\lambda|$ with the calculable numbers $m_0^2, \alpha, \beta$. We study glueballs in the holographic gauge theories living in a curved space-time. The dual bulk is obtained as a solution of the type IIB superstring theory with two parameters, which correspond to four dimensional (4D) cosmological constant $\lambda$ and the dark radiation $C$ respectively. The renormalization group equations of the Yang-Mills theory are examined in the non-critical string theory according to the framework of the holography. Under a simple ansatz for the tachyon, we could find several interesting solutions which are classified by the value of the tachyon potential at the vacuum. We show two typical, asymptotic-free solutions which are different in their infrared behaviors. For both types of solutions, we could obtain quark-confinement potential from the Wilson-loop. The stability of the tachyon and the ZigZag symmetry are also discussed for these solutions.

We examine the behavior of the vortex defects, which are represented by the sine-Gordon potential, on the world-sheet when a solitonic d-5 brane is existing in the d-dimensional target space. The d-5 brane solution is obtained as an extension of 5-brane in 10d supergravity. It is shown that the vortices of any charge should be dissociated to the free gas when they approach to the brane. The meanings of this fact are addressed through the analysis of the renormalization group equations on the world sheet.

Quantum theory of 2d gravity for $c>1$ is examined as a non-critical string theory by taking account of the loop-correction of open strings whose end points are on the 2d world surface of the closed string. This loop-correction leads to a conformal anomaly, and we obtain a modified target-space action which implies a new phase of the non-critical closed-string. In this phase, the dual field of the gauge field, which lives on the boundary, condenses and the theory can be extended to $c>1$ without any instability.

We have previously found a new phase of cold nuclear matter based on a holographic gauge theory, where baryons are introduced as instanton gas in the probe D8/$\overline{\rm D8}$ branes. In our model, we could obtain the equation of state (EOS) of our nuclear matter by introducing fermi momentum. Then, here we apply this model to the neutron star and study its mass and radius by solving the Tolman-Oppenheimer-Volkoff (TOV) equations in terms of the EOS given here. We give some comments for our holographic model from a viewpoint of the other field theoretical approaches., 11 pages, 4 figures

According to the AdS/CFT correspondence, the ${\cal N}=4$ supersymmetric Yang-Mills (SYM) theory has been studied by solving the dual supergravity. In solving the bulk Einstein equation, we find that it could be related to the 4D Friedmann equation, which is solved by using the cosmological constant and the energy density of the matters on the boundary, and they are dynamically decoupled from the SYM theory. We call this combination of the bulk Einstein equations and the 4D Friedmann equation as holographic Friedmann equations (HFE). Solving the HFE, it is shown how the 4D decoupled matters and the cosmological constant control the dynamical properties of the SYM theory, quark confinement, chiral symmetry breaking, and baryon stability. From their effect on the SYM, the matters are separated to two groups. Our results would give important information in studying the cosmological development of our universe.

We have examined the coupled system of the dilaton gravity and the $CP^{N-1}$ theory known as a model of the confinement of massive scalar quarks. After the quantization of the system, we could see the quantum effect of the gravitation on the coupling constant of $CP^{N-1}$ model and how the coupling constant of dynamically induced gauge field changes near the black hole configuration.

We have examined a modified dilaton gravity whose action is separable into the kinetic and the cosmological terms for the sake of the quantization. The black hole solutions survive even in the quantized theory, but the ADM mass of the static solution is unbounded from below. We study the energy loss rate (ELR) of the accelerated quark in terms of the holographic models for the two different motions, linear acceleration and uniform rotation. They are examined by two different non-conformal models with confinement. We found in both models that the value of ELR is bounded from below by the string tension of the linear confinement potential between quark and anti-quark. The lower bounds of ELR are independent of the types of the motion of the quark. They are determined by the string tension at the world sheet horizon of the model. These results are obtained when the model has the diagonal background metric., 10 pages, 4 figures

We have examined effective theory induced by gauged WZW models, in which the tachyon field is added as a marginal operator. Due to this operator added, we must further add the higher order corrections, which modifies the original configuration, to make the theory full-conformally invariant. It has been found that 2d is a critical dimension in the sense that the metric obtained from gauged WZW is modified by the tachyon condensation for $d>2$, but not for $d\le 2$., 11 pages Latex, FIT-HE-94-81

We review a construction of holographic geometries dual to N=4 SYM theory on a Friedmann-Robertson-Walker background and in the presence or absence of a gluon condensate and instanton density. We find the most general solution with arbitrary scale factor and show that it is diffeomorphic to topological black holes. We introduce a time-dependent boundary cosmological constant \lambda(t) and show energy-momentum conservation in this background. For constant \lambda, the deconfinement properties of the temporal Wilson loop are analysed. In most cases the Wilson loop confines throughout cosmological evolution. However, there is an exceptional case which shows a transition from deconfinement at early times to confinement at late times. We study cold nuclear matter based on the holographic gauge theory, where baryons are introduced as the instantons in the probe D8/D8 branes according to the Sakai-Sugimoto model. Within a dilute gas approximation of instantons, we search for the stable states via the variational method and fix the instanton size. We find the first order phase transition from the vacuum to the nuclear matter phase as we increase the chemical potential. At the critical chemical potential, we could see a jump in the baryon density from zero to a finite definite value. While the size of the baryon in the nuclear matter is rather small compared to the nucleus near the transition point, where the charge density is also small, it increases with the baryon density. A calculational scheme of quantum-gravitational effects on the physical quantities is proposed. The calculations are performed in 4-$\epsilon$ dimension with $1/N$-expansion scheme, where the Einstein gravity is renormalizable and it has an ultraviolet fixed-point within the 1/N-expansion. In order to perform a consistent perturbation in $4-\epsilon$ dimension, spin-3/2 fields should be adopted as the N matter-fields whose loop-corrections are included in the effective action. After calculating the physical quantities at $4-\epsilon$ dimension, the four-dimensional aspects of them can be seen by taking the limit of $\epsilon=0$. In taking this limit, any higher derivative terms are not introduced as the counter terms since no divergence appears at $\epsilon=0$ in our scheme. According to this approach, we have examined the effective potential of a scalar field to see the possibility of the spontaneous symmetry breaking due to the gravitational loop corrections.

We study the Regge trajectories of holographic mesons and baryons by considering rotating strings and D5 brane, which is introduced as the baryon vertex. Our model is based on the type IIB superstring theory with the background of asymptotic $AdS_5\times S^5$. This background is dual to a confining supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory (SYM) with gauge condensate, $$, which determines the tension of the linear potential between the quark and anti-quark. Then the slope of the meson trajectory ($\alpha'_{M}$) is given by this condensate as $\alpha'_{M}=1/\sqrt{\pi }$ at large spin $J$. This relation is compatible with the other theoretical results and experiments. For the baryon, we show the importance of spinning baryon vertex to obtain a Regge slope compatible with the one of $N$ and $\Delta$ series. In both cases, mesons and baryons, the trajectories are shifted to large mass side with the same slope for increasing current quark mass., Comment: 28 pages, 7 figures

For type IIB supergravity with a running axio-dilaton, we construct bulk solutions which admit a cosmological background metric of Friedmann-Robertson-Walker type. These solutions include both a dark radiation term in the bulk as well as a four-dimensional (boundary) cosmological constant, while gravity at the boundary remains non-dynamical. We holographically calculate the stress-energy tensor, showing that it consists of two contributions: The first one, generated by the dark radiation term, leads to the thermal fluid of N = 4 SYM theory, while the second, the conformal anomaly, originates from the boundary cosmological constant. Conservation of the boundary stress tensor implies that the boundary cosmological constant is time-independent, such that there is no exchange between the two stress-tensor contributions. We then study (de)confinement by evaluating the Wilson loop in these backgrounds. While the dark radiation term favours deconfinement, a negative cosmological constant drives the system into a confined phase. When both contributions are present, we find an oscillating universe with negative cosmological constant which undergoes periodic (de)confinement transitions as the scale of three space expands and re-contracts., Comment: 31 pages, 5 figures, v2: Reference added

We study glueballs in the holographic gauge theories, supersymmetric and non-super symmetric cases, which are given by the type IIB superstring solutions with non-trivial dilaton. In both cases, the dilaton reflects the condensate of the gauge field strength, $$, which is responsible to the linear confining potential between the quark and anti-quark. Then we could see the meson spectra. On the other hand, the glueball spectra are not found in the supersymmetric case. We need a sharp wall, which corresponds to an infrared cutoff, in order to obtain the glueballs. In the non-supersymmetric case, the quantized glueballs are actually observed due to the existence of such a wall driven by the dilaton. The strings and D-branes introduced as building blocks of hadrons are pushed out by this wall, and we could see the Regge behavior of the higher spin meson and glueball states. We find that the slope of the glueball trajectory is half of the flavor meson's one. As for the low spin glueballs, they are studied by solving the fluctuations of the bulk fields, and their discrete spectra are shown., Comment: 35 pages, 6 figures

We show a constantly accelerated quark as a string solution of the Nambu-Goto action, which is embedded in the bulk background dual to the $\cal{N}$ $=2$ supersymmetric confining Yang-Mills theory. The induced metric of the world sheet for this string solution has an event horizon specified by the fifth coordinate. By an extended Rindler transformation proposed by Xiao, we move to the comoving frame of the accelerated quark-string. Then we find that this horizon is transferred to the event horizon of the bulk and the causal part of the accelerated quark is transformed to a static free-quark in the Rindler coordinate. As a result, the confinement of the Minkowski vacuum is lost in the Rindler vacuum. This point is assured also by studying the potential between the quark and anti-quark. However, the remnants of the original confining force are seen in various thermal quantities. We also discuss the consistency of our results and the claim that the Green's functions will not be changed by the Rindler transformation., 25 pages, 7 figures

We study a new embedding solutions of D5 brane in an asymptotic AdS${}_5\times S^5$ space-time, which is dual to a confining $SU(N_c)$ gauge theory. The D5 brane is wrapped on $S^5$ as in the case of the vertex of holographic baryon. However, the solution given here is different from the usual baryon vertex in the point that it couples to $k$-anti-quarks and $N_c+k$ quarks on the opposite two points of $S^5$, the north and south poles, respectively. The total quark number of this state is preserved as $N_c$ when minus one is assigned to anti-quark, then it forms a color singlet like the baryon. However, this includes anti-quarks and quarks, whose number is larger than that of the baryon. When we set as $N_c=3$, we find the so called penta and hepta-quark states. We study the dynamical properties of these states by solving the vertex and string configurations for such states. The mass spectra of these states and the tension of the stretched vertex are estimated, and they are compared with that of the baryon., 24 pages, 6 figures

We study the stability of a special form of D brane embedding which is regarded as a bound state of D$_n$ and anti-D$_n$-brane embedded in a 10D supergravity background which is dual to a confining gauge theory. For D5 branes with $U(1)$ flux, their bound state configuration can be regarded as the baryonium vertex. For D branes of $n=6$ and 8 without the $U(1)$ flux, their bound states have been used to introduce flavor quarks in the dual supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory. In any case, it would be important to assure that they are free from tachyon instability. For all these cases, we could show their stability with respect to this point., 19 pages, 7 figures

We study baryons in SU(N) gauge theories at finite temperature according to the gauge/string correspondence based on IIB string theory. The baryon is constructed out of D5 brane and $N$ fundamental strings to form a color singlet $N$-quark bound state. At finite temperature and in the deconfining phase, we could find $k(, Comment: 16 pages, 12 figures

We study the response of confining gauge theory to the external electric field by using holographic Yang-Mills theories in the large $N_c$ limit. Although the theories are in the confinement phase, we find a transition from the insulator to the conductor phase when the electric field exceeds its critical value. Then, the baryon number current is generated in the conductor phase. At the same time, in this phase, the meson melting is observed through the quasi-normal modes of meson spectrum. Possible ideas are given for the string state corresponding to the melted mesons, and they lead to the idea that the source of this current may be identified with the quarks and anti-quarks supplied by the melted mesons. We also discuss about other possible carriers. Furthermore, from the analysis of the massless quark, chiral symmetry restoration is observed at the insulator-conductor transition point by studying a confining theory in which the chiral symmetry is broken., Comment: 27 pages, 14 figures

We show a new class of embedding solutions of D5 brane, which wraps on $S^5$ in the AdS${}_5\times S^5$ space-time and contains fundamental strings as U(1) flux to form a baryon vertex. The new solution given here is different from the baryon vertex since it consists of two same side (north or south) poles of $S^5$ as cusps, which are put on different points in our three dimensional space. This implies that the same magnitude of electric displacement exists at each cusp, but their orientations are opposite due to the flux number conservation. This configuration is therefore regarded as a D5-$\bar{D5}$ bound state, and we propose this as the vertex of a baryonium state, which is made of a baryon and an anti-baryon. By attaching quarks and anti-quarks to the two cusps of this vertex, it is possible to construct a realistic baryonium., 13 pages, 4 figures

We study baryons in SU(N) gauge theories, according to the gauge/string correspondence based on IIB string theory. The D5-brane, in which N fundamental strings are dissolved as a color singlet, is introduced as the baryon vertex, and its configurations are studied. We find a point- and split-type of vertex. In the latter case, two cusps appears, and they are connected by a flux composed of dissolved fundamental strings with a definite tension. In both cases, N fundamental quarks are attached on the cusp(s) of the vertex to cancel the surface term. In the confining phase, we find that the quarks in the baryon feel the potential increasing linearly with the distance from the vertex. At finite temperature and in the deconfining phase, we find stable k-quark 'baryons', which are constructed of an arbitrary number of k(

N=2 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory with flavor hypermultiplets at finite temperature and in the dS${}_4$ are studied for finite quark number density ($n_b$) by a dual supergravity background with non-trivial dilaton and axion. The quarks and its number density $n_b$ are introduced by embedding a probe D7 brane. We find a critical value of the chemical potential at the limit of $n_b=0$, and it coincides with the effective quark mass given in each theory for $n_b=0$. At this point, a transition of the D7 embedding configurations occurs between their two typical ones. The phase diagrams of this transition are shown in the plane of chemical potential versus temperature and cosmological constant for YM theory at finite temperature and in dS${}_4$ respectively. In this phase transition, the order parameter is considered as $n_b$. % and the critical value of the chemical potential This result seems to be reasonable since both theories are in the quark deconfinement phase., 17 pages, 8 figures

Yang-Mills theory with flavor quarks in the dS${}_4$ is studied through the dual supergravity in the AdS${}_5\times S^5$ background with non-trivial dilaton and axion. The flavor quarks are introduced by embedding a probe D7 brane. We find that the dynamical properties of YM theory in the dS${}_4$ are similar to the case of the finite temperature theory given by the 5d AdS-Schwarzschild background. In the case of dS${}_4$, however, contrary to the finite temperature case, the gauge field condensate plays an important role on the dynamical properties of quarks. We also give the quark-antiquark potential and meson spectra to find possible quark-bound states. And we arrive at the conclusion that, while the quarks are not confined in the dS${}_4$, we could find stable meson states at very small cosmological constant as expected in the present universe. But there would be no hadrons at early universe as in the inflation era., 22 pages, 23 figures (.eps)

In terms of a simple holographic model, we study the absorption cross section and the shear viscosity of a pure Yang-Mills field at low temperature where the system is in the confinement phase. Then we expect that the glueball states are the dominant modes in this phase. In our holographic model an infrared cutoff r_m is introduced as a parameter which fixes the lowest mass of the glueball. As a result the critical temperature of gluon confinement T_c is estimated to be about 127 MeV. For T < T_c, we find that both the absorption cross section and the shear viscosity are independent of the temperature. Their values are frozen at the values corresponding to the critical point, for 0 < T < T_c. A holographic model of QCD at finite temperature is proposed and thermal properties for light mesons are examined in terms of this model. We find interesting temperature dependences of masses and decay constants for several mesons, and Nambu-Goldstone theorem for the chiral symmetry breaking and generalized Gell-Mann-Oakes-Renner relation are assured at finite temperature. Furthermore, we can see in the chiral limit that the speed of the pion in the thermal medium decreases to zero when the temperature approaches to the critical point of quark confinement and deconfinement transition, where the chiral symmetry is restored., Comment: 9 pages, 3 figures

The non-perturbative properties of the gauge theories in the AdS${}_4$ are studied in the dual supergravity by including light flavor quarks, which are introduced by a D7 brane embedding. Contrary to the cases of Minkowski and dS${}_4$, the dilaton does not play any important dynamical role in the AdS${}_4$ case, and the characteristic properties like the quark confinement and the chiral symmetry breaking are realized mainly due to the geometry AdS${}_4$. The possible hadron spectra %in the AdS${}_4$ are also examined, and we find that the meson spectra are well described by the formula given by the field theory in AdS${}_4$, but the characteristic mass scale is modified by the gauge interactions for exited states., Comment: 18 pages, 8 figures

Gauge theory with light flavor quark is studied by embedding a D7 brane in a deconfinement phase background newly constructed. We find a phase transition by observing a jump of the vacuum expectation value of quark bilinear and also of the derivative of D7 energy at a critical temperature. For the model considered here, we also study quark-antiquark potential to see some possible quark-bound states and other physical quantities in the deconfinement phase., 17 pages, 11 figures

Meson spectra given as fluctuations of a D7 brane are studied under the background driven by the dilaton. This leads to a dual gauge theory with quark confinement due to the gauge condensate. We find that the effect of the gauge condensate on the meson spectrum is essential in order to make a realistic hadron spectrum in the non-supersymmetric case. In the supersymmetric case, however, only the spectra of the scalars are affected, but they are changed in an opposite way compared to the non-supersymmetric case., Comment: 11 pages, 2 figures

Several physical quantities of light hadrons are examined by a new holographic model of QCD, which is the modified version of the one proposed by Erlich et al. defined on AdS${}_5$. In our model, AdS${}_5$ is deformed by a non-trivial bulk scalar, this is corresponding to adding the mass term of the adjoint fermions to the 4d SYM theory dual to the gravity on AdS${}_5$. We find that this deformation should be taken to be rather small, but its important effects are also seen., Comment: 10 pages, 6 figures

We study the effective potential of a scalar field based on the 5D gauged supergravity for the Randall-Sundrum type one brane model in terms of the brane running method. The scalar couples to the brane such that the Bogomolnyi-Prasad-Sommerfield conditions are satisfied for the bulk configuration. The resulting effective potential implies that the interbrane distance is undetermined in this case, and we need a small Bogomolnyi-Prasad-Sommerfield breaking term on the brane to stabilize the interbrane distance at a finite length. We also discuss the relationship to the Goldberger-Wise model.

Dynamical properties of gauge theories with light flavor quarks are studied in a dual supergravity by adding a D7-brane probe into the AdS background deformed by the dilaton. By estimating the vev of flavor quark-bilinear in both the supersymmetric and non-supersymmetric gravity duals, we find spontaneous chiral symmetry breaking in the case of the non-supersymmetric background. We study the braneworld solutions based on a solvable model of 5d gauged supergravity with two scalars of conformal dimension three, which correspond to bilinear operators of fermions in the dual $\mathcal{N}=4$ super Yang-Mills theory on the boundary. An accelerating braneworld solution is obtained when both scalars are taken as the form of deformations of the super Yang-Mills theory and the bulk supersymmetry is broken. This solution is smoothly connected to the Poincare invariant brane in the limit of vanishing cosmological constant. We address the renormalized effective action for a Randall-Sundrum brane running in 5d bulk space. The running behavior of the brane action is obtained by shifting the brane-position without changing the background and the fluctuations. After an appropriate renormalization, we obtain an effective, low energy braneworld action, in which the effective 4d Planck mass is independent of the running-position.
