Aims: Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is an asymptotic disease and can lead to adverse outcomes before and during childbirth. The present study aimed to investigate the effect of resistance training (RT) on sexual hormones in women with GDM. Materials & Methods: In this quasi-experimental study, 22 women with insulin-treated GDM, with a gestational age of 24 weeks, were selected and according to body mass index were divided into equal groups of RT and control (C). During 6 weeks the RT group performed RTs for 3 sessions per week and C group only had daily activities during this time. To analyze the data, Kolmogorov-Smirnov, independent sample t-test, and repeated measure ANOVA test at p≤0.05 were used. Findings: Six weeks of RT significantly reduced estrogen (p= 0.01) and increased prolactin (p= 0.001) in women with GDM, however, had not significant effect on progesterone (p= 0.34). Conclusion: Six weeks of RT seems to improve the sexual hormones in women with GDM.

Introduction: Considering the necessity of nursing students' acquaintance with their administrative and employment regulations, an app was designed in this regard. This research was done to measure their awareness before and after using this mobile app. Materials and Methods: This quasi-experimental study was conducted during the academic year 2017-2018 among nursing students of Dezful University of Medical Sciences in southwestern Iran. To measure students' awareness (before and after using the application), a researcher-made 11-question questionnaire was used in accordance with the eleven chapters of the Iranian Ministry of Health's administrative and employment regulations. The sampling method was simple random sampling. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyze the data and SPSS version 22. Results: A total of 60 students participated in this study, of which 27 people (45%) were male and 33 (55%) were female. Students' awareness of the administrative and employment regulations before using the app was very low (6.26 ± 5.90); the application designed could increase their awareness to a high level (28.25 ± 8.29). This difference was significant (P

- Abstract
© 2019 Elsevier B.V. Thin-film Solid-State Batteries (TFSSB) is one of most promising and quickly developing fields in modern electrochemical energy storage. Modeling these devices is interesting from theoretical and practical point of view. This paper represents a simulation approach for TFSSB which overcome a major drawback of available mathematical models, i.e. decline in accuracy of the models at high current rates. A one-dimensional electrochemical model, including charge transfer kinetics on the electrolyte-electrode interface, diffusion and migration in electrolyte as well as diffusion in intercalation electrode has been developed and the simulation results are compared to experimental voltage-capacity measurements. A new definition of diffusion coefficient as a function of concentration, based on the experimental measurements, is used to improve the performance of the model. The simulation results fit the available experimental data at low and high discharge currents up to 5 mAh cm −2 . The models show that the cathode diffusion constant is a prime factor limiting the rate capability for TFSSB in particular for ultrafast charging applications.

Photoelectrochemical water splitting is a clean and promising technique for using a renewable source of energy, i.e., solar energy, to produce hydrogen. In this work electrochemical formation of iron oxyhydroxide and its conversion to hematite (α- Fe2O3) through thermal treatment have been studied. Oxyhydroxide iron compounds have been prepared onto SnO2/F covered glass substrate by potential cycling with two different potential sweep rate values; then calcined at 520 °C in air to obtain α-Fe2O3 nanostrutured films for their implementation as photoanode in a photoelectrochemical cell. X-ray diffraction analysis allowed finding that iron oxides films have nanocrystalline character. Scanning electron microscopy revealed that films have nanostructured morphology. The obtained results are discussed considering the influence of potential sweep rate employed during the preparation of iron oxyhydroxide film on optical, structural and morphological properties of hematite nanostructured films. Results show that films have acceptable characteristics as photoanode in a photoelectrochemical cell for hydrogen generation from water.

Background: In regenerative medicine, use of each of the mesenchymal stem cells derived from bone marrow, cord blood, and adipose tissue, has several cons and pros. Mesenchymal stem cells derived from cord blood have been considered the best source for precursor transplantation. Direct reprogramming of a somatic cell into induced pluripotent stem cells by over-expression of 6 transcription factors Oct4, Sox2, Klf4, lin28, Nanog, and c-Myc has great potential for regenerative medicine, eliminating the ethical issues of embryonic stem cells and the rejection problems of using non-autologous cells. Objective: To compare reprogramming and pluripotent markers OCT4, Sox-2, c-Myc, Klf4, Nanog, and lin28 in mesenchymal stem cells derived from cord blood and induced pluripotent stem cells. Methods: We analyzed the expression level of OCT4, Sox-2, c-Myc, Klf4, Nanog and lin28 genes in human mesenchymal stem cells derived from cord blood and induced pluripotent stem cells by cell culture and RT-PCR. Results: The expression level of pluripotent genes OCT4 and Sox-2, Nanog and lin28 in mesenchymal stem cells derived from cord blood were significantly higher than those in induced pluripotent stem cells. In contrast to OCT-4A and Sox-2, Nanog and lin28, the expression level of oncogenic factors c-Myc and Klf4 were significantly higher in induced pluripotent stem cells than in mesenchymal stem cells derived from cord blood. Conclusion: It could be concluded that mesenchymal stem cells derived from human cord blood have lower oncogenic potential compared to induced pluripotent stem cells.

Introduction In children with nephrotic syndrome, it is probable to determine a hypothyroid state because of thyroxine (T4), tri-iodothyronine (T3) and thyroid-binding globulin loss in presence of proteinuria. Objectives: To examine thyroid function in pediatric cases of nephrotic syndrome. Methods: In a cross-sectional study, from march 2010 to march 2012, thyroid function tests were performed in 104 patients referred to the nephrology department of children’s medical center, because of nephrotic syndrome. Collected data analyzed with SPSS Statistics 17 and pResults: Sixty one cases identified as hypothyroid patients and were treated with supplementary levothyroxine. There were 41 (67.2%) males and 20 (32.8%) females with the mean age of 3.72±3.35 years. Our patients showed lowered T3 (68.3%) and T4 (64.4%) in comparison with normal values. Median TSH (Thyroid-stimulating hormone) was 11.65±6.71 Micu/ml and 2.82±0.82 in the hypothyroid and euthyroid patients respectively. In all, TSH was negatively correlated with the total urinary protein content . Conclusions: According to this study, the occurrence of hypothyroidism in any child with nephrotic syndrome needs to be mentioned. It is proposed to systematically search hypothyroidism by measuring TSH and free T4 in these patients particularly when proteinuria is prolonged.

Cumin is an important medicinal plant in Iran. Plant cell suspension culture is a method for the production of medicinal and secondary metabolites. The linalool is a plant secondary metabolite that has been recognized as a neuroprotective agent. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of salicylic acid elicitor on induction of linalool in cell suspension culture of cumin. For this purpose, the cumin seeds were prepared, to obtain sterile seedling, were disinfected with sodium hypochlorite and alcohol, and were cultured on MS basal medium. This research was conducted in two separate experiments including callus induction and suspension cultures. Leaf explants were prepared from sterile seedlings and used to produce callus on MS medium supplemented with 1 mg/l NAA and 0.5 mg/l BAP. In order to establish suspension culture, the appropriate calli were transferred to liquid medium. Then cell cultures were treated with elicitors. The effects of elicitor on the production of linalool secondary metabolite and cell viability were assessed by GC-Mass and tetrazolium test respectively. For this purpose, the salicylic acid (at concentrations of 0, 1, 2, 4 and 8 mg/l) was used. The experimental design was a completely randomized design with five treatments and three replications. The results of cell culture and GC-Mass analysis showed that salicylic acid had significant effects on the linalool production (0.01). At all concentrations of salicylic acid, viability of the cells in suspension culture experiments was lower than control. Increasing the elicitor concentrations lead to reduction in cell survival. In conclusion it is possible to produce linalool as a secondary metabolite and pharmaceutical agent in cell culture of cumin. It is necessary to determine the best combination of medium and elicitor.

Background and Objectives: Divorce as one of the most stressful sources can cause default in people’s cognitive structures, and on the other hand the role that cognitive factors play in understanding the dynamics of marital interactions and relationship, has been in the spot light in the recent years. So the purpose of this survey was to determine the effectiveness of holographic reprocessing on general health and cognitive emotion regulation on female divorce applicants. Materials and Methods: In this educational trial, 30 women were randomly picked from all the female divorce applicants who referred to Bijar county court in 2015-2016 and were randomly put in 2 groups of experiment and control (each group 15 people). For the experiment group 9 sessions of group therapeutic plan was held while the control group didn’t receive any education. For gathering information, general health and cognitive emotion regulation questionnaire was used and data was analyzed by descriptive indicators and covariance analysis. Results: The result of covariance analysis indicated a meaningful difference between the average test grades of the two groups of experiment and control in the total grade of general health (F=92.98, p<0.001) and cognitive emotion regulation (F=0.95, p=0.003). Conclusion: According to the results, the holographic reprocessing treatment was actually effective in improving general health and cognitive emotion regulation in female divorce applicants. Therefore, using the holographic reprocessing packages as a treatment guide for improving mental health and divorce prevention is suggested to people who refer to the family domain in health centers. Multiple risk factors are introduced for Multiple Sclerosis (MS). Recent studies have suggested a possible correlation between vitamin D deficiency and an increase risk of MS. This study was therefore undertaken to compare vitamin D levels in new cases of MS and their relatives as healthy controls. Seventy five new diagnosed MS patients and 100 matched healthy controls among their relatives were enrolled in this study. Two groups were matched for gender, age, season in which serum level of vitamin D was checked and region and diet. Serum levels of 25-hydroxy vitamin D was measured, recorded and analyzed. Seventy five patients (57 female and 18 male) and 100 healthy subjects (75 female and 25 male) were enrolled in this study. The mean serum levels of 25-hydroxy vitamin D in case and control groups were 11.31 and 17.9 ng/ml, respectively (P=0.003). Compared to the healthy subject, serum levels of vitamin D were significantly lower in patients with MS. This difference was only significant in women. Observed difference of vitamin D levels of both groups were significant in summer. This study continues to support the role of vitamin D deficiency in MS.

In the present study, a nanoporous metal organic framework (MOF) based on iron metal and amino terephthalate ligand MIL-101-NH2-Fe has been used as a carrier for loading and in vitro release of 5-flurouracil (5-FU) anticancer drug. The 5-FU drug loaded MOF was 13 wt % by using thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The 5-FU release was monitored under physiological condition at 37°C, pH 7.4 in simulated body fluid (SBF) by using spectrophotometry. The drug demonstrated a slow release profile where 98% of the drug was released in 4 days. Loading of drug was characterized by Fournier transform infrared (FTI-IR) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The crystalline structure was monitored by using X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) and after loading of drug in the MOF, the pattern of samples was remained the same. The morphology and size of samples were showed by using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and based on the MOF has a length of 500 nm and an average diameter of 200 nm. These structural characterizations were performed to verify the 5-FU drug loading in MIL-101-NH2-Fe. The MOF stability was studied by measuring the iron concentration in the SBF solution with atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS). The MTT assay method was assessed the ability of this drug delivery system on overcoming MCF-7 breast cancer cells in comparison with the free drug and the carrier alone. Based on the results, this drug loaded nanoparticle could achieve more cell death as compared to the free 5-FU drug. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

To rapidly determine the effect of environmental factors on yeast growth, a cell counting and colony sizing image analysis method was developed to characterise colony growth on solid media. A digitised microscopic image of the yeast was analysed using the Watershed algorithm for cell number determination and a morphological edge detection for colony size determination. The influence of temperature and physiological stress on yeast growth was then investigated over 12.5 h and data extracted by the image analysis method.
