Artificial Intelligence (ai) systems are precious support for decision-making, with many applications also in the medical domain. The interaction between mds and ai enjoys a renewed interest following the increased possibilities of deep learning devices. However, we still have limited evidence-based knowledge of the context, design, and psychological mechanisms that craft an optimal human–ai collaboration. In this multicentric study, 21 endoscopists reviewed 504 videos of lesions prospectively acquired from real colonoscopies. They were asked to provide an optical diagnosis with and without the assistance of an ai support system. Endoscopists were influenced by ai ( O R = 3.05 ), but not erratically: they followed the ai advice more when it was correct ( O R = 3.48 ) than incorrect ( O R = 1.85 ). Endoscopists achieved this outcome through a weighted integration of their and the ai opinions, considering the case-by-case estimations of the two reliabilities. This Bayesian-like rational behavior allowed the human–ai hybrid team to outperform both agents taken alone. Accurate in-vivo optical characterization of colorectal polyps is key to select the optimal treatment regimen during colonoscopy. However, reported accuracies vary widely among endoscopists. We developed a novel intelligent medical device able to seamlessly operate in real-time using conventional white light (WL) endoscopy video stream without virtual chromoendoscopy (blue light, BL). In this work, we evaluated the standalone performance of this computer-aided diagnosis device (CADx) on a prospectively acquired dataset of unaltered colonoscopy videos. An international group of endoscopists performed optical characterization of each polyp acquired in a prospective study, blinded to both histology and CADx result, by means of an online platform enabling careful video assessment. Colorectal polyps were categorized by reviewers, subdivided into 10 experts and 11 non-experts endoscopists, and by the CADx as either "adenoma" or "non-adenoma". A total of 513 polyps from 165 patients were assessed. CADx accuracy in WL was found comparable to the accuracy of expert endoscopists (CADxWL/Exp; OR 1.211 [0.766–1.915]) using histopathology as the reference standard. Moreover, CADx accuracy in WL was found superior to the accuracy of non-expert endoscopists (CADxWL/NonExp; OR 1.875 [1.191–2.953]), and CADx accuracy in BL was found comparable to it (CADxBL/CADxWL; OR 0.886 [0.612–1.282]). The proposed intelligent device shows the potential to support non-expert endoscopists in systematically reaching the performances of expert endoscopists in optical characterization. • This is the first report in which selfed and backed cross progenies of doubled haploid in fruit crops. • Five haploids of 'Banpeiyu' pummelo possessed only either one of the 'Banpeiyu' pummelo SSR alleles, confirming that they are gynogenetic origin. • Doubled haploid selfing showed fewer production of both developed and undeveloped seeds as compared to 'Banpeiyu' pummelo selfing. • Doubled haploid selfed-progenies can maintain exactly the same SSR alleles as their parent. The genetic analysis of five haploid plants (BX1-BX5) of 'Banpeiyu' pummelo (BP), [ Citrus maxima (Burm.) Merr.] using 32 simple sequence repeat (SSR) markers carried out for the purpose of confirming their gynogenetic origin and genetic differences. As the results, all the haploid plants possessed only either one of the BP alleles, confirming that they are gynogenetic origin. We also confirmed that BX1 and its doubled haploid (BX1-DH) have exactly the same SSR alleles. Interestingly, all the five haploids had common alleles on the linkage group (LG) 6 in the case of three markers. Then, we performed self-pollination of DH plants and reciprocal crosses between DH and BP, which has strong self-incompatibility. The seeds obtained by these crosses germinated in vitro or ex vitro normally and developed into diploid seedlings, except for one tetraploid seedling. Genetic analysis of these seedlings with 32 SSR markers revealed that segregation ratios of the 32 loci in the 30 BP inbred, 30 BP x DH and 30 DH x BP progenies mostly fitted to the expected ratios. However, significantly distorted segregation ratios were found in one, five and three SSR markers for BP inbred, BP x DH and DH x BP progenies, respectively. All of the 30 DH inbred progenies showed exactly the same SSR alleles as the original DH. A 53-year-old woman who had undergone excision of KIT-positive extra-gastrointestinal stromal tumor (EGIST) of the vulva 6 years ago presented to our hospital due to a positive fecal occult blood test. Colonoscopy revealed a submucosal tumor in the rectum ventral side. In addition, computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging revealed a tumor in the rectovaginal septum. For diagnostic and therapeutic purposes, the tumor was resected via the perineal approach. The resected specimen analysis revealed a KIT-positive gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST). Following immunopathological and genetic mutation identifications, GIST of the rectovaginal septum from vulva EGIST metastasis was diagnosed. It is important to consider primary GIST and metastatic GIST as differential diagnoses in the case of a rectal submucosal tumor detected by endoscopy.

A new organic-inorganic hybrid zeotype compound with amphiphilic one-dimensional nanopore and aluminosilicate composition was developed. The framework structure is composed of double aluminosilicate layers and 12-ring nanopores; a hydrophilic layer pillared by Q(2) silicon atom species and a lipophilic layer pillared by phenylene groups are alternately stacked, and 12-ring nanopores perpendicularly penetrate the layers. The framework topology looks similar to that of an AFI-type zeolite but possesses a quasi-multidimensional pore structure consisting of a 12-ring channel and intersecting small pores equivalent to 8-rings. The hybrid material with alternately laminated lipophilic and hydrophilic nanospaces can be assumed as a crystallized Langmuir-Blodgett film. It demonstrates microporous adsorption for both hydrophilic and lipophilic adsorptives, and its outer surface tightly adsorbs lysozyme whose molecular size is much larger than its micropore opening.
