Abstract

"This edited book focuses on the organization and meaning of craft work in contemporary society. It considers the relationship between craft and place and how this enables the construction of a meaningful relationship with objects of production and consumption. The book explores the significance of raw materials, the relationship between the body, the crafted object and the mind, and the importance of skill, knowledge and learning in the making process. Through this, it raises important questions about the role of craft in facing future challenges by challenging the logic of globalized production and consumption. The Organization of Craft Work encompasses international analyses from the United States, France, Italy, Australia, Canada, the UK and Japan involving a diverse range of sectors, including brewing, food and wine production, clothing and shoe making, and perfumery. The book will be of interest to students and academic researchers in organization studies, marketing and consumer behaviour, business ethics, entrepreneurship, sociology of work, human resource management, cultural studies, geography, and fashion and design. Abstract

Examination of the type series of Lestidium japonica Tanaka reveals that the generally accepted concept of this species does not accord with the type series. A historical review of the literature showed that the characterization of L. japonica changed over time, and what has been recognized as "L. japonica" for more than 70 years actually represents a distinct and different species. Among the junior synonyms of "L. japonica", Paralepis philippinus Fowler, 1934 is resurrected as a valid species herein in a new combination, Lestrolepis philippina. Lestrolepis nigroventralis Ho, Tsai & Li is recognized as a junior synonym of L. japonica herein. Revised diagnostic characteristics for both L. japonica and L. philippina are provided, along with comments on related names to verify their nomenclatural status. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

19. Morphological intraspecific variation of a softnose skate, Bathyraja diplotaenia (Ishiyama, 1952) (Rajiformes : Arhynchobatidae)

Abstract

The softnose skate, Bathyraja diplotaenia (Ishiyama, 1952) (Rajiformes : Arhynchobatidae), was morphologically examined and described on the basis of 48 male (179.4-856 mm total length) and 45 female specimens (172.8-849 mm total length) to describe intraspecific variation with growth and distribution of placoid scales, alar thorn patch, and body color of the species. The results make clear that placoid scales on the dorsal side of the disc mostly disappear in specimens of 439.3-473.2 mm total length, the alar thorn patch appears in male specimens of 665-751 mm total length, and the body color changes in specimens of 363.6-653 mm total length. In addition, it reveals that the species starts to mature at about 500 mm total length and matures at about 750 mm total length based on growth of clasper length and presence of the alar thorn patch.

22. Paradoxical nature of narrative in analytical psychotherapy

Abstract

This study explored the changes, obstacles for changes and the sharing of narratives in psychotherapeutic case studies. Study 1 developed an index for analyzing the process of narratives in psychotherapy, based on 101 cases. In Study 2, 203 cases were evaluated using the index generated from Study 1. As a result, three paradoxical natures of narrative became evident. Narrative in psychotherapy is thought to include (1) recognizing the beginning of a narrative, which can also signify the completion of the narrative, (2) negative movements that hinder the development of the narrative while at the same time move it forward and (3) an individual’s narrative that is uniquely one’s own, but easily influences and is influenced by the narratives of others.

Abstract

The coloration of small individuals of Nozawa’s prickleback, Stichaeus nozawae is presented for the first time, based on a specimen (112 mm SL) collected by T/S Ushio-maru from the Funka Bay, Hokkaido. The specimen has obscure bands on dorsal, anal, caudal and pectoral fins. Although specimens of comparable sizes (57.4-168 mm SL) have obscure bands on these fins, most larger specimens (252-361 mm SL) have no bands on the caudal and pectoral fins. Most descriptions or images in previous studies, including the original description, were based on large specimens (220-450 mm SL), which have no bands on these fins. Thus, bands on caudal and pectoral fins of S. nozawae tend to disappear with growth

Abstract

However, analysts and scientists are not in the position to create narratives for others but respect and tolerate the existing narratives that other share and serve as facilitators and mediators for co-creative processes that have the potential to produce new or adapted collective narratives. The two authors believe that new narratives on global change need to respect and include these universal patterns of a mutually convincing narrative but that such narratives cannot be fabricated or even pre-arranged but only be co-created together with the communities to which they are to be applied. Psychotherapy and the personal meaning of narratives While narratives in psychotherapy are personal, narratives found in myths, rituals and religion tend to be created and re-created within a community. The idea for this special issue emerged during the international conference "Narratives in Times of radical Transformation" that was conducted online from 19 to 20 November 2020.
